her, leaving the comforts of her upbringing and following him into poverty. following him into a starving social class (thg, 13). risking her own survival.

and it makes sense that katniss points to her parents here. they stand as her primary example of true, selfless love (thg, 261). a love that transcends social boundaries. a love that transcends a need to survive.

and what a cruel thing for suzanne to do to us. the parallels in how katniss and her mother experience grief is one thing. but the parallels in how they love? oh my. 

because what is love if not choosing to die with your lover rather than survive in a world without him (thg, 342). 

what is love if not entering into the cursed death arena again. knowing that the rules would not change for you this time. only one would emerge victorious. and it has to be them. they have to be the one who survives (cf, 51).
