what if GemCYT had a side rebel group?

I’ve been following the GemCYT au for a while now, and I love it. The designs are amazing, and the story is great. I saw a really cool idea by @snowydragon10 that basically said, “Yo, but what if DanTDM (who is Blue Diamond in the au by general consensus I guess??) ALSO rebelled, but instead of just faking his death and leaving like Lizzy (Pink Diamond) did, he was a double agent/mole of sorts. I’ve watched this goggle-wearing goof for about 4-6 years now, so I figured I’d expand a lot on this idea. I combined both possibilities they mentioned in a post. For starters, Blue/Dan didn’t become a good guy right away. It took quite a bit of convincing. There were two main things that led him to earth in the first place. Firstly, after the Corrupting Light/Diamond Blast attack, some foresight from one of his sapphires suggested Pink was still alive. Second, he’s the diamond that mainly focuses on technology and science. Several reports showed outbreaks of corruption in gems, and most of those planets were very close to earth. Believing earth was the main harbor of the corruption, grieving for his lost sister, and holding out on blind hope, he went down to earth alone in the form of a Larimar, a Lapis’s ice equivalent. He stumbled across the rebels who offered him protection, training, and hospitality in exchange to help these poor dystopian gems thrive and fight against the Diamond authority. He eventually became a rebel because he had a lot of things to disagree with when it came to white Diamond and how things were handled.

The team on Dan’s side so far consist of him as a Larimar, Justin/Thinknoodles as his pearl, a perfect lapis cut who dubbed himself IBallisticSquid due to the use of floating water tentacles, and ThxCya aka James, a mercenary against the corrupt gems who is a half-human, half- emerald himself. (Like Steven but way less OP and less MC energy.). The difference between Dan and Lizzys squads? Lizzys is much bigger, and both sides would live in different parts of the world entirely. Like snowy dragon said, two diamonds at once would cause a power imbalance. One team would be taking care of some arcs shown in SU, the other will deal with other arcs. (EX: Lizzys group/empires n stuff would have the sword training arc, Dan’s and other ogs would have the Human Zoo arc.)

Anyways enough rambling, here’s their basic designs that are subject to change because I’m indecisive. God I hope it actually comes up for everyone else actually visible.

GemCYT Sub-Zero: Weapons!

Cupquake just uses potions on her end. Squid doesn’t have a real weapon, he just uses whatever’s given to him and W A T E R

Now the fun facts:

-Larimar can’t pull his swords from his gem or put them in there. His gem (or rather the end of his gem that is exposed in that form) is too small. He just has sheaths to either side of him.

-Also I gave Lari two swords because it’s cool.

-Larimar can also channel his ice powers into the blade edges, so he could cut an area and freeze the area.

-James’s destabilizer rod also doubles as a conductive lightning rod due to having electrical properties. The shenanigans that lead to that discovery were… unquestionably stupid to say the least.

-James inherited the rod from his gem parent (like how Steven inherited the shield from Rose) and he’s had it for his entire life. He found out he had it when he was around 11, shocked and hurt himself way too many times, and then proceeded to not touch it until his early 20s.

-Justin makes his own arrows using energy for his crossbow using energy from his gem, the same energy used to make interactive holograms.

-Different colors of arrows for Justin mean different effects, most based off different arrow tips and enchantments from Minecraft. Red is fire aspect, orange is explosive, green is poisonous or corrosive, yellow destabilizes, blue is slowness, etc.

Does Justin ever think about the possibility of a gem from homeworld coming to earth and seeing him working with rebels? Does he take precautions to make sure they can't recognize him/see him?

Justin:

It depends. The thing is that most common gems never see a diamond up close, let alone his Pearl, so usually I’m safe from the common gem or even upper ranked gems who don’t know me personally. Most gems don’t care about the pearls, seeing us as objects and all. The gems who end up knowing me from the lab on Homeworld* are a little more risky to work around. The rebel team knows I used to work on Homeworld, they just don’t know I’m a diamond’s pearl, let alone Blue’s. Whenever I go undercover on Homeworld, I use a different form that looks similar but not identical to the rebel one I have. Identical pearls get made all the time at the reef, so if an enemy happens to recognize me, I just tell them they’ve got the wrong Pearl.

Werewolf!Think is more docile and weaker than other werebeasts, but do people assume he isn't since he is one?

Absolutely. He’s been attacked a few times for it. Usually that’s why any of the other members don’t leave him unsupervised (in full werewolf form) in an area they know there’s people that don’t know him. Dan especially looks out for him, since Justin is his childhood friend and, werewolf or not, he knows Justin better than even himself.

Usually Dan’s approach, like others, is to explain Think isn’t a threat, although him being half gargoyle himself with a slightly threatening presence of his own, people may or may not believe him. 50/50 chance, unfortunately.

for the monster oaks au, were they all born as hybrids or did they become hybrids later on

I don’t wanna spoil too much this early, you’ll see more on that in the future.

all you get was that James and Squid were born the way they were. The other two? Well… ;)
