maybe this is a controversial statement but every time i see someone get very upset about fandom surrounding the founding fathers and how it's romanticizing them - have you considered that being forced into a homosexual relationship with their worst political enemies is most likely the biggest nightmare of those 18th century white men?

if anything the amrev fandom is probably humiliating these men on a much more visceral, personal level than academic critique (which is still important!).

i dunno, i think their complicated legacies can make space for an interesting conversation on dismantling these figures as larger than life. pulling them "down" to the level of shipping online. it's complicated and i do understand there is reason why people don't like it, especially in consideration of hamilton the musical, but i think it's worth thinking about.
