Ever wished Captain Tsubasa had female players ?
Ever wished the only attempt at making a player with a disability wasn’t Misugi (who ends up getting cured anyway) ?
Have both. At the same time. (Yes I even reproduced the “presentation charts” from the rebboot anime I have a lot of free time)
Satsuki lost her leg when she was 10 in a road accident including headphones, Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol, and a truck. A good strategist, she’s the captain, easily guiding her team with her charisma and laid back attitude, even from the bench.
Mare is deaf from birth. Her height however lead her to be the Goalkeeper in almost all soccer practice at school, and she became pretty good at it. The only thing matching her silent cheerfulness is her appetite. (this character belongs to @kikiwenry ! They designed and came up with the concept.)
Tsuzumi suffered from bullying since young an age, and when she was 12, one of her bullies brought a knife to school; you can imagine how that turned out. She’s careful to keep a pocket knife on her at all time. Sarcastic and witty, she’s not one to back down from an argument despite her calm and discreet nature.
Their team isn’t attached to any school, they don’t represent any districts or regions. They designed their jerseys themselves. They play to overcome their handicaps, both as disabled people, but as women doing an “all boy” sport in the very traditional japanese society too.
Second fairly effortful fanart piece (too lazy to do legs and tail). I will probably draw or post about him fairly often because he is my favourite Godzila rn.

(Originally a reblog but I realised that was stupid).

Misc. Minus One observation. He has tusks/fangs. Placement feels unusually similar to this oni by Hokusai, although I have a feeling this could be pretty coincidental.
More direct line of comparison in superficial tooth shape is of course tyrannosaurus

Godzilla must have STUPIDLY long teeth when considering the roots, now that I think about it.
Followup: King Kong vs Godzilla
I was not left disappointed. This movie is fun and good. Not emotionally gripping, but very good fun.

This movie is absurd and funny, especially in a good couple of the dialogues. The film being (in part) kickstarted by a pharma executive frustrated with the company's poor advertising is honestly incredible. And it's even funnier how he keeps on rooting for King Kong even after having lost any kind of control over the situation.
The fights are kinda fun, but obviously a bit underwhelming because of the technical limitations. And while the larger practical setpieces are pretty well done, I find some of the greenscreen effects very janky. The octopus was a very neat setpiece, however, and kind of an exception almost.
I generally do like the designs of the kaiju. They're pretty brutish overall and can be a bit silly sometimes. Godzilla himself looks very dinosaurian with his head and fat body (another example of his versatility as a basic design), and I fw how Kong has this sort of orangutan-macaque-like build moreso than that of a gorilla.
The Bernard Heuvelmans/cryptid deal with the kaiju's general background as unkown strange kinds of otherwise real animals is pretty charming. Not surprising since this was fairly popular or sensational in contemporary sci comm iirc?
I have seen a bit of similarish things with some older science books at my grandparents'. On the topic of cryptids, I strongly suggest getting Cryptozoologicon, btw.
The film also has some cool shots.

And the score, by none other than Akira Ifukube, is brilliant. Here's an anniversary concert rendition of it.
Anyways, a pretty fun watch, and I suggest watching it.
have you watched toho elisabeth?
I have not watched the Toho version in full for several reasons.
1. Elisabeth in Japanese to me doesn’t sound as good as Elisabeth in German. Due to the differences in diction, I find the original German much more expressive and intense. Japanese can be expressive and intense too but it doesn’t do so in the context of Elisabeth.
2. Toho, as I have read, is like a compromise between the Takarazuka version and the Viennese version. And that, to me, does not work. As I have said, the Viennese version is laid out so intricately, the smallest detail can throw the whole show out the window. They, of course, keep Rondo of Love and Death because the Japanese audience has spent almost 20 years prior to Toho associating Elisabeth with Rondo. Even when the Viennese Revival cast toured Japan around 2006-2007, they had to add Rondo (which was a stupid request).
Anyway, due to those reasons, I haven’t watched Toho. I might later but for now, if I want to watch a masterpiece I would watch Pre-2012 Viennese version, and if I want to hate-watch, I have a dozen Takarazuka versions to choose from.
