"Damn Tumblr"

On one hand, you can be so annoying, problematic, idiotic, and cringey. On the other hand, I can't help but browse through shamelessly and obsess over posts for hours on end. I wish I knew how to quit you!

“A Rant About Shipping”

I’m back to my rant routines because, well, it only takes so much to trigger me about the fandom community of any popular/unpopular media. So let me get on with it. I’m getting real sick and tired of people hating shippings in general, no matter if it’s gay or straight. The general public online makes such a big deal out of it that I can’t help but find all the arguments and objections absolutely pitiful. Is everyone on the internet just mere children, or children in adult disguises?

First off, I get it - shippings/ship wars are part of what makes fandoms toxic and unbearable to be a part of. I am hyper-aware. That being said, the concept of shipping shouldn’t be seen as something as god awful or detrimental to society or some shit like that. People like pairing fictional characters together, so what? Its fuckin fiction! The very knowledge that it's being done shouldn’t kill you. If people want to make fanart or fanfiction out of it, they have the right to. Don’t portray ALL of these people like freaks and make them feel bad about what they like and do. It’s more than rude or disrespectful, it's stupid and a waste of time. Mind your damn business and move on, ignore them. You only want the source material after all, right? So just watch or read or play your shit and stay off of Tumblr, Deviantart, Zerochan, the comment section; anywhere really if you can neither handle it nor act mature.

Second, to everyone who hates gay shippings= why, just why? Does it really throw you off the deep end to see two fictional characters of the same sex being paired together and drawn romantically (or sexually) with one another? Cuz it ain’t straight? Give me a fuckin break. I’m not religious so I don’t fuckin care if you believe it's wrong and shouldn’t be promoted. It's no different from fanart/fanfiction/NSFW of straight shippings, in my eyes. So really, get a grip. I’d respect the outrage more if there were actually informative and insightful reasons against them, but nah it’s just “ew, gets this gay shit off my screen” or “rabid fujoshis always be fapping to men getting it on”. You are indeed allowed to voice your opinion about it, hell there are gay ships AND straight ships I utterly despise, but you shouldn’t go so far and call all these fans perverted, crazy, or stupid. That’s just not true; if anything you come off as butthurt or insecure about some shit that you definitely need to fix.

Lastly, to everyone who hates straight shipping= you are way too extreme for no fuckin reason. I hate SJWs and special snowflakes for this very reason. Not everyone has similar tastes, don’t assume they are homophobes just because they don’t ship two men together or two women together. Your opinions are not superior to theirs, lay off. If you don’t like, don’t look. Stop villainizing everyone with different views, and quit making everything about representation and diversity. Tone down and be respectful, for god’s sake! Enough with the ship wars, it achieves nothing - y’all just wanna hate each other and for what? Absolutely fuckin nothing!

Am I done? I hope so. This has become irritating and I learned that blowing off steam makes me feel better. Do I sound selfish and petty? Maybe. Did any of this made sense? Probably not. But I don’t fucking care.

Sometimes it can be both, and sometimes it’s not, but you also have the “fans” who harass the actors and their families over a ship, making them severely uncomfortable. Or they bully the hell out of other non problematic fans when they don’t get their way.

Looking at you, ATLA, Teen Wolf, Harry Potter, Supernatural, and so on. Toxic fandoms are toxic fandoms.

is it actually queerbaiting or do people just ship them en masse and get annoyed when it’s not canon

May I add onto this?

I think I made it clear that I work at a movie theater, so I see the MCU crowd in full force all the time. And I dvided them into categories.

You get Category 1: The actual old school Marvel fans who have more or less actually grew up with marvel. The people who say that they remembered when comics used to be 5 cents a pop and have been there with the classic Marvel Cartoons that came on every Saturday/Sunday Morning. These are the ones that me and my coworkers call The GOATs. Because they are super chill and just love anything marvel relted that they can get their hands on. The type of fans that would start a fanclub a a local park or recreation center and welcome newbies with open arms and treat them like family.

Category 2: These are the fans that, while haven't grown up with Marvel like Category 1, are still pretty nice and willing to debate on what is the best movie, tv show, etc. , yet are respectful of other people's thoughts and opinions. And while they aren't as seasoned as Category 1 fans, they aren't as fresh as the category 3 ones. They're more like...perfectly ripe bananas.

And finally Category 3: The fans that take things way too far. Like so far not even Ezio Auditore da Firenze could see it while standing at the highest point in all of Italy, far. They are the ones who have never watched any of the stand-alone marvel movies that came before The MCU, not a single Marvel cartoon, nor read any of the comics. These are the fans that think The MCU is the greatest thing since pre-sliced bread. The ones who throw hissy fits when a female character is introduced that she isn't wearing clothes that show off her breasts or ass, or when a male character is introduced he isn't already pulling his shirt off and showing off his muscles. The ones who get way too excited about Wakanda and Black Panther and tries to shove it all down other people's throats, and try to pick fights when asked to tone it down a notch with the obsessiveness because they think it automatically makes the person racist just because they don't agree that Black Panther is the greatest marvel hero and the others don't hold a candle to him (or in Shuri's case during her time as Black Panther), her.

Category 3 fans are the worst to deal with, in and out of a working environment. Because it's like what OP said. They are rude, racist, ungrateful, etc. They're the ones who get their hopes too high upon hearing about new movies or tv shows only to start going after the actors/directors/etc. on social media and start disrespecting them when they have no control over anything regarding the scripts.

My word of advice, I honestly don't have any. Because I already know the outcome if I even try.

Which is probably why I got out of the MCU and DCEU. I am sick of the toxicity and hate that has taken over these fandoms.

You know what? I’m SICK of the MCU fandom!! These fans are the most inconsiderate, disrespectful, two-faced, ungrateful, ignorant, and racist people I have seen! I couldn’t believe how fans were going on YouTube, bitching on a Sony video that was promoting one of their other movies, about why they didn’t do another No Way Home trailer. Fans hate other characters that don’t really deserve the hate they received and probably don’t know a damn thing about said characters, yet turn around and adore another character that has done much worse. So fucking ignorant! John Walker and Zemo come to mind on this one. When CA: Civil War and Infinity War came out, fans were praising the Russo brothers to hell and high water, then after Endgame came out you fans were threatening the Russos because you didn’t like the story. They didn’t write the damn story, they were just the directors! That’s where the ungratefulness plays along. These fucking fans need to just admit that you are pissed to see Sam Wilson get his respect and shine because apparently you think the FATWS should be The Bucky Show, completely disregarding Sam’s importance on that fucking show! This is coming from a Bucky fan. Dammit, I LOVE superheroes, Marvel, and DC as well. Speaking of DC, not all their films have been great since the DCEU, but I don’t see the fans acting half as stupid as the MCU fans are. Notice, I said the MCU, not Marvel for a reason. Hell, I appreciated the beginning of the MCU where all these heroes got to shine on the big screen, but what the fuck have they done?? I’m glad I didn’t involve myself too deep into this shit. I’m just gonna stay a casual superhero movie fan and that’s that.

"yes i know having villains and/or morally grey characters in a story is important – nay, crucial — but I think this character is too *lists the qualities and traits of a villain/morally grey character* and anyone who likes this character should seek help immediately!!!"
