“Now, what you need to remember is that the Ancient Greek’s weren’t one nation like how we think of them today. They were a collection of city states which were called polis back then. In their times, this was considered a nation on it’s own like the Vatican City or Singapore is today. You might realise that polis is actually still used today in words such as metropolis, which basically means ‘mother city’ as it comes from the Greek word for mother, necropolis which translates to city of the dead basically and so forth.

“The notion of ‘nation’ as we understand it is actually a relatively new concept that has only emerged in the last few centuries so trying to discuss things like a ‘nation’ or a ‘nationality’ is hard. Particularly when we’re talking about ancient civilisations.” You carry on talking, hands gesturing to the interactive whiteboard behind you that currently shows a map of Ancient Greece.

Your students are watching intently, some nodding slightly while a few of them jot down notes in their exercise books or read from their textbook. History was one of those topics that many people found boring but it had always inspired a fire inside you. The desire to learn from the past and incorporate it into the future was strong. Over the course of your own education, you’d also felt it was important to teach and mould the minds of the young with the lessons of the past.

It was why you’d gone into the teaching career, despite the concerns of your parents and everyone around you. Alpha’s like you simply didn’t go into teaching, the aura of power and dominance around them normally too strong for youngsters to cope with.

But you’ve always been a little different to the other Alpha’s you’d known throughout your life. Your wolf was always present and willing to protect when necessary but mostly she was content to lay back and watch the world. While most Alpha wolves were tall and extremely well muscled, a genetic quirk that gave them a visual representation of strength along with the metaphysical one that all wolves could understand, you were of average height and just looked in shape.

Your scent was sweet and pleasant to be around, according to your friends growing up you smelled like the tastiest candy with the slightest hint of rose. That on it’s own was unusual because Alpha’s were supposed to smell like…well an Alpha, power with that hint of earth that reminded everyone of the forest. Instead, you just smelled like a candy shop.

While great for the Delta’s, the general population that made up most packs, or Omega’s, the rarest and most treasured of all wolves, it wasn’t really great for an Alpha. You were the equivalent of a teddy bear instead of a grizzly, which didn’t really mix well with people’s expectations.

On the plus side though, it meant that you were excellent at getting through to people because they listened to you first and only if you needed to would you show the aggressive and dominant side of yourself. You may not look or smell like an Alpha, but you were still an Alpha and you liked to make sure some people remembered that.

I Dont Know, Vlad A Dark Haired Vampire Said In The Night If Hes In A Pack, Attacking Him Well Start
I Dont Know, Vlad A Dark Haired Vampire Said In The Night If Hes In A Pack, Attacking Him Well Start

«I don’t know, Vlad» a dark haired vampire said in the night «If he’s in a pack, attacking him we’ll start a feud and it’s not what we want right now». The two creepy vampires had been observing you for the past three hours, following your scent and your moves. You weren’t particularly interesting, after all you were almost boring but you thought the two of them decided to follow you because a child of the moon is rarely seen in Romania. In fact, against popular belief, there weren’t many packs that lived in the country permanently. But you weren’t part of a pack, you didn’t need one and you didn’t want to share your time with someone else. Since you were old enough, you left your family and travelled alone throughout Eastern Europe and Asia.

The other sighed. «Maybe it’s not what you want, Stef. We could use some chaos across Eastern Europe to distract the Volturi».

You saw the one named “Stef” shook his head in disapproval. «That may be true, but we have no allies here». You decided you had had enough of them and that it was time for them to leave you alone, so you started to move close to them.

«Emh, Stefan» the fair haired one said «he saw us». Stefan looked towards you, only to find his eyes locked with your yellow ones. Both vampires immediately tensed. You were growling at them, trying to scare them. But they knew better.

In the blink of an eye, a fight burst out. You trying your best against the two vampires, but soon realized that you were helpless in front of their speed, their immortal bodies and their venom. One of them but you hard in the neck and you felt yourself pass out while changing to your human form. ~~~~~~~

You felt someone holding you down to the ground by the wrists. You opened your eyes only to find the face of the fair haired vampires right in front of yours. You tried to get him to move, but in vain. He grinned. «Stop. You know it’s useless». You felt rage growing inside of you. The vampire smirked looking down at your naked body. «Stefan» he then called «what a surprise, this wolf’s a girl!». You saw discomfort on Stefan’s face. «Well, if that’s the case, Vlad, I suppose we can change our manners into gentler ones». Vladimir looked at you and studied your face. You showed your teeth to him, but he didn’t look impressed. «Oh, I don’t know, Stef» he said «she doesn’t look gentle at all. She’s rather boyish if you ask my opinion».

«Nobody asked your opinion» you said, only to Vladimir’s amusement. You saw that also Stefan was grinning. Vladimir now did look impressed. «You’re one of a kind, I like it».

«Not enough to free me, though» you said, feeling that your wrists were starting to ache under the tight vampire’s grip. «Then you’ll leave, I don’t want you to leave just yet» Vladimir said. You wandered why, but didn’t dare asking. You only wanted Vladimir to let go of you. «I don’t think I can move right now, the venom is burning and I…» you shivered in pain.

«Vlad» you heard the dark haired one call «I don’t think she’s lying. She knows better than that». You felt Vladimir let go of your wrists. You sighed in relief. You tried to pick yourself up but discovered you couldn’t due to the venom circling in your body. Vladimir grabbed you before you could fall and handed you his jacket, which you took and wore immediately. Luckily it was so long that it fit you like a dress, covering you until the knees.

«Look at the mess you’ve made, Vlad, she’s dying!» Stefan said. Vladimir turned his head to him and stated you were not dying. «Perhaps Stefan if you want to do something helpful you could start a fire so she doesn’t freeze». Judging by the look on Stefan’s face, Vladimir hardly ever spoke to him like that. You wondered why but didn’t dare to ask it out loud. Stefan nodded silently and left running.

Vladimir looked at you. «What’s your name?». «Y/N» you responded, shyly. You didn’t trust him at all. «Y/N, I’m sorry for what happened a moment ago. Do you have a pack to return to?» he asked, and you shook your head. He seemed surprised. «I’ve always preffered living on my own. I don’t want to struggle with rules I don’t agree with» you stated, and Vladimir nodded as he understood. You continued: «And then those bastards are ruling from their hiding spot in Italy, so there are many stupid laws about secrecy and immortal children and because of that blonde masochist that somehow seats on a throne next to Aro we, the children of the moon, are being hunted and killed for no reason». You saw that, for some odd reason, Vladimir’s eyes were sparkling in amazement. «You…» he smiled «You hate the Volturi?». You were confused, but managed to nod in agreement. He seemed to smile even wider. «Do you know who I am? I mean, do you know my story?» he asked, and you were confused. He put a hand over your shoulder. «Let me tell you, my dear Y/N, how the Volturi destroyed my life». ~~~~~~~

You were resting near the fire that Stefan had started a few hours prior. The story Vladimir had told was still in your head. It was a violent story and it only incremented your already heart-felt hatred for the Volturi. Vladimir came near you. «You could join us, Y/N» he said «I would protect you and care for you». You were shocked by these words, no one had never asked her to be a part of a coven before. «Vladimir, I’ve always lived on my own and I don’t-» you started, but the vampire didn’t give up. «Y/N, I would treat you well, like a queen if you want! You have my word, you’ll be safe». You started to consider the offer. «You’ll be happy» Vladimir added and you lifted your head in a questioning way. He then came near you, embracing you with his cold arms. «I feel this pull towards you, Y/N» he stated, and you immediately blushed. «You’ll be safe with me» he repeated and you felt that your heart had already made a decision of staying with him. «Okay» was the only thing you could say as Vladimir fully embraced you.

Blood Moon Rising | Prologue

The street and soil are all wet from the remnants of rain that has been falling for the last few days. The night air is coated with white thick fog, nearly clouding Jimin’s sight as he quietly walks down the empty road.

It is so late in the evening that not a single person appears to be wandering out along the town’s streets and the road leading to the forest. Even as he continues to walk past the rows of houses down the residential passages or the shops at the center of the town, he only finds the streets clear, the front doors and main gates are all tightly locked, all the lights from inside have been put out and their curtains are drawn close. Streetlights are dim, not even stronger than the moonlight and probably not enough to illuminate Jimin’s figure as he continues to walk so gracefully down the road. Yet as he is about less than a mile away from the town’s border, he still tugs his collar upward, covering his neck up until nearly half his face is hidden from view. The only thing he keeps uncovered are his ruby coloured eyes to allow him to look ahead on his way and at his surroundings, despite keeping his gaze low as he follows the route down the rocky road.
