For the past week, "Will you pray for me when I'm gone? / Or is this the eternal dark without a dawn?" and "I'm not a loser!" "WHAT DID YOU SAY!?" have been stuck in my head and I think I'm losing my fucking mind and holy shit I LOVE this scene 😭😭 like wdym when Richie finally felt safe at school, Max came back to take that feeling of security away and then take his LIFE. AFTER TERRORIZING HIM FOR AGES. man i love em both

Richie's death gets worse the longer you think about it. The show opens with Richie running and screaming, implying that he was running through the halls begging for help, never able to find anyone. And we know Max was just toying around with him. In the locker room scene, Max closed off the exits and let Richie be completely, utterly terrified and trapped. He eventually decided to reopen the doors and let Richie run just to give him a false sense of hope before killing him in a frankly gruesome way. He wanted to see Richie running and pleading and begging, and Max was having fun with it the entire time.

The scene is terrifying. Max was written to be terrifying. And Will and Jon pulled SO MUCH weight in both the opening scene and the whole locker room scene and made it all so real.

OK so swedish barbeque is a ship!! Its the ship between jon matteson's barbeque monolouges character Trevor and will branner's best of you character that he has named Rudolph and is apparently a swedish exchange student. The two were seen at homecoming together. Its not exactly cannon but when Jon was asked if he saw them as a unit he basically said "im not telling 🤭🤭🤭🤭" and winked a few times I think? Its adorable.

I love the mashups between Grace and Max's solos but the songs laid over each other never sounds coherent enough for me. So I made my own anyway here's "(Nerdy Prudes/Dirty Dudes) Must Die" sung as a duet.

I’ve not shut the fuck up about this specific scene for like two other posts but I felt the need to actually post the clip

Also it is hot that he immediately starts repeating it just because he’s told to by a dominant force, let alone the person who’s about to murder him and I’m tired of pretending it’s not- sue me I don’t make the rules I just love pathetic men

I’m not seeing enough people talk about Nerdy Prudes Must Die. Like, the song. Jon’s and Will’s performance there.

With each Hatchetfield musical, I’ve been able to pinpoint when I got the “oh fuck” horror-feeling. The moment where I actually felt like what I was watching was horror. “Nerdy Prudes Must Die” was that moment for me in NPMD.

Jon’s acting was phenomenal. Not just his body acting, but the way he literally convinced me he was a terrified kid. A terrified kid faced with the consequences of his peer-pressured actions, who only just started experiencing being liked and valued as who he is, and the realization that he’s going to be murdered and can’t escape it. The way he ran and crawled and begged.

“Please, nonononono, Max, please.”

And something about him begging for his life while his friends and classmates loomed in darkness in the background hit me hard, too.

The entire aura of the song was just sinister despite the few jokes it had and Max being, well, Max. Will’s acting went hard, too. Especially during the “will you pray for me” bit, where he looked borderline sympathetic towards Ritchie but in such a disingenuous way.

Not to mention the song fucking slaps.

This was all jumbled, but something something- sitting there and watching this kid run and fight and beg for his life, knowing the thing coming after him won’t stop no matter what and is incapable of reason, and being unable to do anything but let it happen got to me.
