The thing about Players is they don’t die: never permanently. It’s what makes them Players; a code that works the power of their own deaths around in a reviving loop. The rest returns to the world, keeps it healthy and stable. Players don’t die, but they do. They are creatures of life.

The thing about Watchers is they are master of death. They take from the power left over from Player death, they disrupt the cycle. This keeps worlds from flourishing from Player death; This keeps worlds mundane. The thing about Watchers is that if they chose to, they could take more. They could take every ounce of energy from a death, could leave the world to rot and the Player to oblivion. They could. They have. Watchers do not respawn, but they’ve stolen enough power that death might never find them.

Thinking about My Little Pony and, the thing is it was never a gendered thing to me. Like it’s obviously a show targeted towards little girls yeah, but I only ever really heard the little in that. My friends made me feel weird about still watching it (even tho I was like 7 how is that too old-) and I heard that statistic—40% or 60% or something of Mlp fans are adult men—and assumed the problem was they were adults, not that they were men. Obviously, in hindsight that’s most of the problem there, yeah (not actually a problem obviously). So I have to wonder if My Little Pony is kinda like Bluey (hold on, that’s not enough explanation, let me elaborate on that). Bluey is a beautifully written show that connects best with people that didn’t have great childhoods; My Little Pony is a subpar-ly(not their fault) written show that connected with mascs that had some similarly repressed shit going on? Only in this case it was gender stuff. Let them express an interest in this “feminine” thing, this show about ponies and friendship that looked cool, had an interesting world, fun characters, and challenged all sort of toxic lessons enforced in young boys. It’s got a really compelling fanon and a beautiful (most of the time) fandom that makes it easy to justify their interest in the show, and come to terms with it?
