*ardenssolis. Laughter Is A Sunbeam Of The Soul. - Tumblr Posts
He just idly braided Enkidu's hair, both fascinated by its length as he always was with longer hair, as well as just curious to see how the other might look. He had not done such a thing in a very long time, so it did make him feel a bit nostalgic. Just a bit, though.

Cross legged contentment as fingers weave through hair. All to agreeable, the sure actions of the pharaoh an added benefit ( messy, clean — both accepted, uncaring of tangles ). Soft, pleased hum towards the others gentle motions. A quiet afternoon in the presence of one trusted. Amazing how the loudest voices can contain the most sincere actions. A smile of their own gracing their face; hands braiding a gift in kind ( golden flowers sprouting around their position, an offering for one deserving ). Words unnecessary in companionable silence. Waves of grass placed in a simple pattern, wayward strands draped across both ( bleeding into the ground ). Enjoyment — quiet laughter — as they turn to face the other. Carefully placing the flowers on his head with a smile all too bright. The kindest kings are those who deserve a crown.

RAIN WAS A RARITY to him, a sight that often left himfeeling comforted as he would watch it fall upon the ground. Just the smellalone that came with it was enough to make him want to close his eyes anddisappear into his thoughts. Lifting his hand, he moved it from under theprotection of leaves so he could allow the rain to fall upon his hand, cool andsmooth like silk as it slipped from fingertips to moist soil. ❝It isa shame that nature is not like it should be in this modern era.❞ ThisSingularity was beautiful to him with its luscious green fields and forests;earthy smells so different from his Egypt drifting across his nose. Taking adeep breath as if to take it all in, he tilted his head back against the tree he and Enkidu restedunder, the rustling of leaves almost akin to a lullaby to him as water bounced off each one.
❝I never had a chance to enjoy things like this. Rain wasso rare to see, and with time, it became impossible for me to leave the palace as I did as a boy.It was…stifling at times constantly being indoors, and I desired much more freedom. Just as birds could spread their wings and fly, I too wished for this.❞ How odd it was that words slipped from his lips likewater when he was around Enkidu. Perhaps it was just because he felt comfortedby their presence that made this so, or maybe it was just because theyunderstood him in a way that some would not that aided in this. After all, theyhad seen into the very soul of Gilgamesh, saw past his tyrannical image enoughto grow to care for him so much, that they forever left a mark upon the king’sheart in a way no other ever could (justas Nefertari and Moses would always be in his). He did not have to look at the other Servant to know they werelistening, to know they were smiling.
He could simply feel it.
❝I suppose I should thank you for staying outside with me despiteit being very much unnecessary. It is not as if I asked for you to do so…but thereare times that even I grow weary of being alone.❞ An admittance that he would give noother but this being — this being who made flowers bloom as if they were oldfriends, who made the grass sing as if they were speaking to one another, andwho listened to birds as if their words were for them alone.
Only they would hear these words.
Carefully presented was a bundle of flowers (hand picked thought out choices professing their own meaning) wrapped up in a ragged green ribbon. Bright, gentle smile offered up with cheer. A gift for one who means more than words. Angelica tucked alongside arborvitae. Bay, chrysanthemum, & coreopsis adding their own flair. A few yellow tulips placed around the bunch. Enkidu was no master of words (poetry flowing forth) but this was a language they knew. Hopefully, something to express gratitude.

IT WAS AMAZING HOW easily Ozymandias’ gaze softened the moment gold met green, the other’s smile bright and vibrant in a way that would have made even a god smile in return, and smile in return he did. How was he not touched by this gesture? This wholly unselfish and innocent gesture that was so simple like many things that Enkidu themselves enjoyed, yet spoke volumes even in this very simplicity. With a gentleness many would not see from him save very rare situations, he took those bundled flowers into his hands, careful as if holding them any tighter would harm such delicate plants and damage the gift he had been given. ❝This was not necessary. There was truly no need to give me something like this…but I will accept it wholeheartedly. I can tell you put much thought into each flower you picked considering the flowers offered in this bouquet.❞
Beautiful. Truly beautiful.
Just as beautiful as the vibrant being standing before him. Enkidu’s features made them so, yet it was not this that Ozymandias meant. Even if they had turned into original self when human thought had escaped their understanding and the only creatures they could understand were beasts and plants, this fact would not change. There was more to beauty than the physical, after all. ❝Thank you, Enkidu.❞ He lifted his hand, gently ruffling soft locks.
Slowly they started to fall asleep, trying to keep eyes open. ❝ ... ❞ A quiet hum dying off as their head fell onto Ozymandias' shoulder. Enkidu was very much in need of a nap ( the pharaoh just happened to be a comfortable resting spot ) even if they were in the middle of something. The other's story would have to wait for later.

OZYMANDIAS HAD PROUDLY AND happily told Enkidu about his people’s tale of creation; of how Ra had appeared from the goddess Nun by simply uttering his name, bringing order to the heavens and earth as was his divine right, and ensuring that this order continued to exist throughout Egypt. He was animated in his explanation, recalling the story perfectly from how he was taught by temple priests and his father one starry night so long ago. Copying the enthusiasm of a storyteller was easy for him considering his personality, and so he made sure to make gestures here and there as if that would somehow paint an even more vibrant image for Enkidu to follow. However, he soon came to a stop when he felt Enkidu rest against him, head using Ozymandias’ shoulder as if it was the softest pillow. The gesture surprised him for a moment, though he knew it should not.
After all, this was Enkidu.
This was the same being who would have simply held his hand without hesitation as if there was nothing remotely peculiar about such an action towards a king; a soft smile upon their lips as they glanced up at him the same way they looked at everything else in this world. For what care did he have for human rules when he fit perfectly outside of them? That thought alone made the Pharaoh huff out a subdued chuckle, a large smile flickering upon his lips as he closed his eyes as well. He supposed…he too could rest for a moment. It was good for a king to get the necessary rest they deserved for all their hard work, after all. All his stories could wait until another time if Enkidu still desired to hear them.
Smooshes Enkidu's cheeks and gently rubs his nose against theirs. It was meant to be endearing rather than deeply intimate; an indication perhaps of how much he had come to truly enjoy the other's presence during his time in this 'Chaldea.'

Enkidu was not generally the most outgoing of servants ( let alone the loudest ) — these were habits left to the others. Although, this did not keep them from following the whims of their curiosity. Judgment ( cruel, unnecessary ) was neither a thought in their mind no more then they understood embarrassment. None of this showing Enkidu did not feel joy. Waves of excitement racing through them as, bright eyed, hands grasp the pharaohs face in glee. Smile painted a mile wide gracing their face ( sheer happiness ). Laughter offered freely turning into a quiet sigh at Ozymandias’ action — warmth of the sun carried on a gentle breeze. Something fundamentally comforting; they found pleasure in seeing such happiness reflected in other’s gold. ❝ You are truly a wonder. ❞ Fingers brushing hair, planting a small kiss on his forehead. ❝ They say that those who turn their face towards the sun will leave behind their shadows. They are not wrong. ❞

why does everyone else get pets :c

HE MAKES SURE TO give Enkidu many headpats. He could not leave his friend out. If it was pets they desired, then he would give them a hundred, no, a thousand without hesitation! One could never question the sheer power of the generosity of Ozymandias, King of Kings, when he went so above and beyond!

29. as a promise

OZYMANDIAS MADE IT ABSOLUTELY no secret that he wasvery fond of Enkidu. All knew instantly from watching his interactions that hewas more than content with being around them for extended periods of time, beit for an hour, two hours, a whole day — that meant nothing to him because hefelt most things lacked importance. Not Enkidu, however. Oh no, they wouldnever be ‘unimportant’ in the Pharaoh’s eyes despite how they humbly viewedthemselves as just another being in this vast world. Standing by one of thelong windows in Chaldea’s hallway, he watched the blizzard roaring outside withEnkidu, quietly wondering if the sun would ever return to this desolate land ofice and snow with the slightest displeasure. However, a glance at Enkidu showedthat they felt the opposite of him; eyes curious and head tilted just slightlyto the side as they watched the scene with him.
The sheer innocence of such a sight brought a slightsmile to his lips. ❝Enkidu, you are truly someone special. To think that I, Ozymandias, would feel suchcloseness to another like this…❞He trailed off, humming softly as he glanced back out the window. ❝At first, I allowed you near me because I wanted to see what it was about you that couldmake a man like Gilgamesh smile the same way I do when Nefertari’s name isbrought forth. I knew the tale between you and him because of the Grail, yet Ionly knew the legend itself. That alone does not offer the insight I desired tosee. Thus, I stayed near you, observedyou in order to satiate my curiosity.❞Although he knew that Enkidu was a special individual because anyone who could dealwith Gilgamesh for an extended amount of time had to be someone noteworthy, he did not know the extent.
The legend itself did him no true justice.
Silence reigned between them then, Enkidu not lookingdirectly at him, but he could feel they were listening as intently as they didwith the chirping of birds of the sashaying of grass on a windy day. Turning sohe could properly address the other, he took their hands in his, lifting them towardshis lips so he could press a gentle kiss upon fingertips. ❝I can now understand what it is the Golden One sees, orperhaps better yet, what he saw in you. For that, I will bestow upon you the title of friend. Wear that title well, for I do not give it freely.❞ Considering how difficult it was for him to outrightadmit to seeing someone as such, this only showcased how much he had grown tolove Enkidu overall.
Blows a raspberry on Enkidu's cheek.

Wide eyed baffled noise — hand reaching up to cover the pharaohs eyes as they tried to duck away. Enkidu’s choked laughter following suit. Whatever was that ?? suns warmth against their side ( one of his hands now lightly grasped, the other still in the mess of their hair ). Pushing him back from their own face. Voice light, humored !! gaze aligning on the presence beside them ( sitting in silence no more ) --- nose scrunched up, biting their own lip. Badly covered smile. ❝ You are a menace. ❞

read : your muse reading something to mine.
lean : your muse inviting mine to lean into their side while they’re sitting or laying together.

OZYMANDIASHAD NOT EXPECTED Enkidu to desire to read to him, such a gesture so strangethat he was unsure of whether his mind was not playing tricks on him, and thathe was just imagining the situation he was in now. However, if he were to reachout and touch the other’s pale cheek and feel their warmth beneath his palm, hewould know that this moment was very real and not an illusion conjured by themind. Brows furrowing, he looked down at the other Servant as they held thebook in their arms close, waiting patiently for him to accept their invitationto take a seat beside them and listen to the tale they planned on sharing. ❝You…wish…toread to me?❞ There was such incredulity within Ozymandias’ voice, suchuncertainty that it would have been humorous to another. However, rather thanbeing teased for such a silly question, Enkidu just smiled wider, gifting him with a curt nod.
Did theEnkidu do things like this with Gilgamesh, he wondered? Did the Golden King toosit beside him and listen to the other as they spoke for no other reason than simply listening to their voice? Considering the other’s attachment, Ozymandias would not have been surprised if this was indeed the case. ❝You have such odd desires. Ah, but it is not as if I would refuse you…❞ Ozymandias’ smiled slightly, soon moving totake a seat beside Enkidu and gently leaning against them as they opened thebook and began from the very beginning. He would follow along with them as they read. The other Servant had such a smooth and soft voice, though, Ozymandias hoped that he did not find himself drifting off…
If he did, he doubted they would be bothered.
❝ Have you heard of Mothman ?? ❞ they looked at the pharaoh curiously, on their lap a book on "cryptids" --- it was interesting. ❝ Supposedly he's better then Bigfoot... ❞

MOTH…MAN? THERE WAS a man who was a giant moth? To most that must have seemed absolutely absurd. They would have laughed and shrugged it off as some ridiculous tale brought forth by overactive imaginations, but Enkidu and himself were from a time where such things were perfectly normal. How could he scoff at such a thing considering the beasts that had existed thousands of years ago? ❝No I have not. You said he is better than that Bigfoot creature? Hmm…tell me more about these…❞ he paused, squinting as he looked at the title, ❝cryp…tids.❞ Were those creatures from crypts? He had a lot of questions, most of which he made a mental note to ask the Master since they would hopefully know about such strange beasts. Perhaps even some other individual in Chaldea, though he was more open to approaching them in particular.
Taking a seat next to Enkidu on the couch, he leaned against them and waited patiently for them to tell him more. Ozymandias liked knowing things just for the sheer fact of knowing (that and because he could grin and say that he was well-versed in a great deal of things when in actuality he was rather lost most of the time—). ❝I want you to start with that Mothman figure, however. You have captured my interest and I desire more information.❞
