My art was made to uplift and inspire, to make people happy. Do not compare yourself to me, your art is important because you made it with love and care, no matter what it is. You may like my artstyle more, but don't think less of yourself. You're trying and, you put effort into it. Be prod of it, for yourself. There always will be someone better, drawing 'prettier' art. But that doesn't matter. If our ancestors haven't even tried, because maybe their neighbour would be better than them, we wouldn't have art at all. You matter, no matter how small the thing you make is, it matters, because no one else, but you could've made it, and here you are, looking at it, and it exists

Opinion on non artists requester asking multiple artists to draw their OC shipping with a canon character for free?
I find it terrible. Not only are you already not paying an artist for their time and effort, but you're using multiple artists time and effort.
There are many reasons for someone to only be doing requests and not commissions. HOWEVER, from what I have experience with it's those people requesting like three different artists at minimum.
Three different artists spending time on a drawing that they're doing for FREE when you could've asked one artist for it.
I understand if it's like a minor going around and asking multiple artists for the same thing and they don't have money or anything else they could pay the artist. (Don't pay your artist in exposure. And if you're an artist getting told "I'll give you a shout out for your art" don't take it. You deserve better than that.)
But honestly, even if it's still a minor and they don't have anything to give back to the artist because it's only a request and they're doing this to multiple artists, then no. I don't find it okay.
Pay your artists or learn to draw yourself. Art is a luxury, and you don't need to have it. Especially if you can't draw or won't pay for it. The artists who do requests, whatever their reasons, are still doing it out of kindness of their heart. They don't need to do anything for you. Especially if they aren't doing it for anything.
you know, i rarely post like, art advice or anything bc i know very well what damage bad advice or "rules" can do, plus i am still learning too, am not unbiased and have no degree in art whatsoever
but, whenever i see a clown post shit like this and call it "art 101" or like its a hard set rule i see red
to be clear, i am not saying you are not allowed to draw female characters like this; HOWEVER, acting like it is an inherent difference, a hard set rule of divide between "male" and "female" is fucking WRONG

humans are goddamn diverse as fuck, there is no hard set rule between genders (be it skeleton, hormones, chromosomes-), if you want to learn anatomy, or art in general, DO NOT listen to people who post shit like that, go to anatomy sketching sessions, look at photos, look how normal people you see every day on the street are build, look at yourself
you can still draw your characters like that if thats what you want but do not go and act like its "art 101" bc its not, i have long had enough of this bullshit and how much of a "standard" it is for character designs in all kinds of media
Don’t judge popular artists too hard for being protective of their ideas. When someone takes inspiration from their work, even if they’re going their own road with it, it’s still a weird feeling for the artist.
They might find it rewarding. They might feel walls closing in around them. It’s different for everyone.
hello!! Sorry if this is a weird question for me to ask but do you have any tips on getting into studying animation/art? I've been having a rlly hard time finding places that even have animation as a thing to study under let alone how/where to start! Feel free to ignore this if you want, I understand! And if you're able to have me be anonymous if you do answer this that'd be great but you don't have to!

Honestly yeah it’s hard to find good art schools/ schools that have good programs, I’d recommend just doin a lot of research- and if you’re in no luck, community colleges are a good place to start! I was able to get into some intro classes like painting and it was a lot of fun!
Other than that I’m not really sure, I’m not too knowledgeable on this kind of thing but I wish you good luck on whatever you study! 👍
Just wanted to say that your art has improved so much! I haven’t been on Tumblr for a while but seeing how much you have grown, I’m very proud of you! I hope to see you get even better!
I've been getting these type of positive comments now from them and you now as well.I just want to say thanks for even considering to leave me lovely messages in the first place.
As for my art, it's getting there gradually.I still haven't figured out what my art style is by any means what so ever.But I'm considering now that may be a good thing.
For content wise, i mean sure it's fun to have a distinct piece that people will recognise you by.But for my followers and mutals, I think feeding them different art styles yet the same characters is what makes maybe them stick around?
It's just the fact they know it's not gonna be the same repetitive thing over and over again. But rather something new different in the style maybe they'll like it? Who knows.
I am not dead, I am just doing my finals that's all. After 3 more weeks I'm done I swear.
I always have a strange paranoia that if I don't post frequently people are going to abandon me and leave me.

I agree 100%, specially as a small/beginner artist my reach on Twitter and Instagram is basically just my friends, art mutuals and 2-3 new people. On Tumblr I get up to 25 likes and they're all from strangers (some that are followers, but most aren't).
Twitter is like that person you have to beg to do the bare minimum because they simply do not care about it or about you. You have to post it and you have to follow some rules otherwise it flops, and it never gets shown to your followers, specially if it's old. No more than 3 hashtags or you're a bot, no links or mentions otherwise the post gets shadowbanned. It's a bunch of small rules that we have to learn through trial and error, and they change all the time.
Tumblr on the other hand feels very kind and patient with me, like a parent looking at my drawing and saying "How nice! It's going in the fridge!" and I'm like "Yiiipppee!!".
And it doesn't just stay on the fridge for a day and tough luck if anyone missed it - it's still there, maybe behind new drawings but you still can see it! Your old drawings aren't ignored, your new ones don't have to be rushed or come at specific times. There's no flopping, just maybe a delayed response.
Please never change Tumblr algorithm, I love you, you are very nice to me.
As an artist, the tumblr algorithm is like a comfy bed for me. I have to fight for my life on twitter, Instagram, and TikTok, but on tumblr I can post at 1 am and get just as much reach as if I posted at peak browsing hours. I can go a week without posting and my followers will still see it. My posts keep circulating instead of being dead 3 days after I make them. Thank you tumblr

I finally finished designing my obnoxious, yet stylish watermark! Now I just need to edit all my works ( again) and run them through glaze.
It's hard to come back after years of being offline and the current art climate isn’t making it any easier with the a/i bullshit and all that. Not posting any of my works was an important step to fixing my relationship with my own art and part of me is afraid once I start making my works public again, my mental health will get worse.

I realized I don't seem to have a consistent artstyle or theme to my art (at least that I can see), when I look at all I've done, I love it individually but it feels mismatched as whole, and... Weirdly? That's how I love to make art.
I love experimenting, learning new things every time I create! I never know what I will do for the next one, I don't have a specific workflow or brushes or palettes for all my work. I don't want to limit my art because it's not "on brand" for me, something I often feel like I'd need to do.
You already have to limit and specialize yourself so much IRL. When I was little, I wanted to do everything! Now I know I'll only do a few specific things in my life.
But I still want to try everything I can in art, and if other people are curious about my process, I would love to share it!
insulting your own work (art or writing or whatever) super openly, especially directly on your work is also insulting everyone who sees and enjoys it. you're essentially calling them a liar or telling them that they have shit taste.
i think abt this a lot (and it helped me stop being an asshole abt my own writing), but i'm especially bitter when it's people who have commission stuff all over. like. you say your stuff is worth buying, but you're calling it awful? do you see what you're saying?
i know it's not always that simple to realize, but still. ghghgh.
