Batman The Audio Adventures - Tumblr Posts

I finished season 2 of Batman the Audio Adventure and I am LOVING all the other characters and no-name Gotham citizens. This season I especially loved the bit in episode 8 just before Batman breaks Harvey out.

We know the breakout is coming from Batman and Robin's dialogue and then the narrator mentions that the bat signal just turned on. Then we hear these goons talking on their radio. They discuss how they "never think the signal's for you" and different theories on how the signal works to communicate with Batman. Like a lot of things in this show, it highlights how terrible it is to live in Gotham and how people entertain themselves to stay sane. It's just non-characters gossiping and sharing off-color humor while they work their questionably legal job.

Then Batman strikes, and we stay tuned in to the goon team's radio. It ends when one of the main voices in this section starts laughing because, as he says, you never think the single's for you.

It's brilliant writing.

I adore both versions with all my heart; Rogues because of emotional impact, AA because he's clearly having All the Fun. I've been following Codot!verse from when everything was on separate accounts, so they get me on nostalgia. Audio Adventures is the new kid on the block, giving Jonathan interesting plotlines that grip me to my seat for more. Both of them come with amazing vocal performances from people who are passionate about what they are working with. Heck, just the mere fact that both finalists in this contest come from audio-based productions speaks volumes about the quality of their respective crews.

Honestly, the only way I was able to choose had nothing to do with the character himself; it's where his universe has him.

Without getting into spoiler territory, Audio Adventures Season 2 ends...weirdly. I understand we need cliffhanger(s) to lead-up to Season 3 (at least, I'm praying there's a Season 3 because this series is wonderful & fantastic & I want to see where it goes next <3), but it comes off as "unfinished" rather than "paused for dramatic effect". This is especially apparent when you compare it to how Season 1 wrapped up; the ending here is much more abrupt/sudden.

In contrast, Codot!verse tends to finish that season's story arc while also laying to groundwork for what's next. Granted, we have a year's worth of audiofiles versus ten episodes from a streaming service to work with, but the point still stands. Actions have consequences, and those consequences sometimes come with payoffs that only appear at a time where you forgot they were there at all. Storylines have evolve to become more intricate while still remaining fun and easy to follow. This goes without mentioning that long-time listeners have become Pavlovian with anxiety to the start of "Spooky Season" because we've come to associate that time of the year to "this is the part of the story where these guys could actually die! D8" >:D )

In conclusion, this has been an entertaining battle to witness and both competitors should feel proud of their work!

Here's a quick little rant about a TikTok I saw.

If you ship Lego Batman and Lego joker but dismiss the rest of the batjokes community GET OUT. By doing this you ignore content like telltale and the audio adventures or other movies and shows that include this context in the same light.

And if it's because joker's personality is different... He's enfp in both Lego and telltale renditions, so you can't ignore that either.

PLEASE don't gatekeep the community over people loving riddler or thinking enemies to lovers is neat.

This has been a Public fandom service anouncement

After finally finishing Season two of Batman the Audio Adventures (Btaa), I implore you if you're looking for batman content to please take 30 to 40 minutes of your time to absorb the world of a mid 1900's batman world. All of the characters are in depth and feel like real people, the podcast makes you feel like you've fallen down a rabbit hole and woken up on a cracked cement gotham sidewalk. The villains are wacky and human, voiced by outstanding VAs. PLLEAAAAAAASE listen to batman the audio adventures. especially if you're a fan of both Batman and Welcome to Nightvale

I think it is a severe tragedy in the DC fandom sphere that the Batman audio adventures did not catch wide spread acclaim and traction. It was funny, well written, had a beautiful plotline, had a great voice cast, and the characters had character. After season two in 2022, it silently ended on a cliff hanger and never continued. Season two was at the peak of it's arc on it's absolute last episode, which left reeling anticipation that would never get answered. Not only that but DC seems to just quietly get rid of any media that isn't instant success, despite frequent lack of marketing or bad presentation.
