I really hope they won't lukewarm the entire pvz conflict, compared to game lore the economic structures and nature of oppression in arcane are less defined (that's how you get the piltover did nothing wrong brilliant takes from people) then in the game lore. Like in game lore zaun was literally created by the mindless greed of the rich people and they outsourced them the work that created the most pollution.
Piltover was indefensible, and it's still in arcane if you ask me, but it was in a more aperent way.
Not to mention the implications for other characters, not just the oblivious like Camille. Viktor and Jayce are basically different people, where was Renata up until now, and what's up with Blitz? I will be seriously frustrated if they take their creation away from Viktor. (the way they could stole credit for Blitz's creation was another way to show the powerlessness of the people of zaun in piltover too)
Overall I'm really unhappy with this decision and I really don't think this will bring as many new players into the game as they think...
it took a lot of asking but riot finally deigned to discuss the lore of their billion dollar video game franchise
i absolutely called it that riot was going to retcon the Brackern/Hextech connection out of existence, but i didn't call that they'd use Arcane as the excuse to do it with. i thought they'd just quietly retcon it away with the skarner update without offering much explanation.
they say they're going to give seraphine an update to fit the new status of hextech which made me laugh a bit because, like, y'all already retconned her lore to hell and back when it turned out you had severely failed to read the tone of her connection to the brackern and launched her with a story that essentially implies she uses slave labor to be a pop star. I remember fucking marc merrill throwing the writers under the bus on twitter about it like an absolute douchecanoe.
and then, instead of engaging with any of the ways in which seraphine's powers of empathy generation could be incredibly interesting when paired with the brackern narrative that casts them as essentially brutalized victims of colonization for Piltover profit, you just go "uuuuuh, no, wait, she can't hear the brackern actually ha ha ha whoopsie doopsie." like, literally just nerfing her powers, but doing nothing to alleviate the horrible implications. "oh yeah, no, she still uses the enslaved soul of a brutalized species to power her platform, but now she doesn't know she's doing that, which I think we can all agree means the problem is solved."
hopefully they actually give her a new story that engages with her abilities beyond just "she is good at being a pop star" - building on the LoR version of the character, I would hope - but I fear it's more likely they just do the minimum viable edit and just find-delete any reference to consciousness in hex-crystals.
as for skarner himself, well he's Ixtali now so they'll probably still square him up against piltover's colonizing incursions into Ixtal, but more in a "primordial protector of the natural world" kind of way than "lone avenger reclaiming his people's stolen bodies." which, y'know, okay, sure, why not, but I would very much like him to have a more compelling character motivation than "preserve the status quo because nature and balance or something."
my big fear is they'll use the update as an opportunity to make camille a good guy or more sympathetic. like, house ferros made its fortune by selling the souls of a sentient species as batteries, knowingly, and camille was a ideologically committed defender of that decision, and that made her an interesting villain. but they've been humanizing the living hell out of her and i am real worried they're just going to tip straight on over into "oh no the authoritarian enforcer for the bourgeois power structure is sympathetic actually, she's really nice once you get to know her, she's just misguided" and ffffffffff
just... please let camille be evil. let her be a villain, please for the love of god

I watched almost every single day of the trial. It was the performance of Amber Turds' life and it was still completely bullisht! I couldn't believe a word that came out of her mouth! I didn't believe one F****** word that came out of her mouth.
She made domestic abuse a joke! There are women that actually go through what she lied about (her claims) and it's serious. But her lieing so extensively she turned it into a joke! And that's SO wrong, and messed up! Then her trying to say him winning is a move back for women. Give me a F****** break! NO ONE believed a word out of her mouth, and I personally don't think she was harmed in any way. There's a difference between yelling and arguing and verbal abuse. I've been through multiple different types of abuse from my own F****** blood/DNA family! And if johnny had done something it was SO clear in her actions and words in her so called evidence that she would've been the instigator! She did it on purpose. I personally think she had been planning all that from the beginning. When you are in love with someone you don't instigate shit like that and you don't record constantly or take pictures of some of the things she took pictures of.
It's a freaking step forward for men being abused which you don't hear about practically at all!
And let's go Camille and the rest of Johnny's team! Like around of applause for them! Amazing! Spectacular! They did a damn good job.

Il s’appelle Camille. Elle aussi. Et les deux autres aussi, qui les suivent en essayant de ne pas se faire distancer. Tout comme celle qui attend au volant de la camionnette. C’est presque une comptine. Cinq Camilles qui vont au marché. Un marché pas cher du tout.
Que voulez-vous, quand le chat n’est pas là, les souris dansent. Et c’est un gros matou qui est de sorti ce soir.
Les Camilles aiment beaucoup cet endroit. La Zone est une terre sauvage, un lieu de vie et de nature, un endroit précieux que l’avidité humaine n’a pas encore salopé. Les Camilles n’apprécient pas du tout le projet de construction en cours. Pas du tout du tout.
Alors ce soir, tandis que le promoteur du projet est en train de vendre sa version en pleurant sur un plateau télé quelconque – le pauvre chou, victime de toutes les vilaines Camilles du pays – les Camilles sont de sortie sur le chantier. Et font leur petit marché.
Ils passent par derrière, loin des gardes, et sautent les palissades assemblées à la va-vite. Ils agissent vite et bien. Ils attrapent les chaines, les pinces, tous les outils qui leur tombe sous la main…
Mais les Camilles ne sont pas des voleurs. Ils rendent très, très vite ce qu’ils ont pris. En choisissant soigneusement quoi en faire.
Et lorsque les Camilles repartent, ils laissent derrière eux un chantier nettement plus en chantier – outils enchainés, moteurs sabotés, le tout décoré d’un message soigneusement graffé : « Ne Touchez Pas A Notre Zone »
Il faut bien ça pour que le message arrive à destination.

I bought Conv/rgence and I beat the game. Even one hundred percented my first save file. I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the game. There are many points I love, and many points I hate. Mostly to do with the platforming.
Anyway, music! Love this theme, it's so cool! Really fits at least this game's version of Ekko. Has a cool beat, and while I was a bit on the fence about the vocals at first, they very quickly grew on me.

Also I've not seen quite that much disscusion around the possibility of camille appearing in season 2 of arcane bcs it fits the themes so well that its basically like actually canon (ok maybe not but she obviously fit in the grand scheme of things and the one of the writers said that theyre trying to get her involved into things) i mean she IS the literal imbodiment classism itself using technological prowess to further itself (or in this case her house) and its opression instead of using it for good which is basically jayces worst nightmare, id argue even worse than the war (bcs the war wouldnt have lasted forever and even if the weapons couldnt have been unmade or the ppl brought back to life (yet), at least maybe he could have started to invent stuff to help ppl afterwards). AND IF thats jayces nightmare then its probably going to be viktors absolute hell, cus HEXTECH augmentions specifically should have been HIS thing as the machine herald, he might have not managed to prevent the entirety of hextech from falling down a path of evil, but at least he might have been able to monopolize this little part. (which would actually imply that he would kind of have to gatekeep the hextech augmentions in order to not make it fall under the hands of ppl who just want stronger arms to kill others better with, im actually very interested into finding out how that will play out once he no longer fears for his own death, if that will ever even happen). EXCEPT that SIKE BITCH you havent taken control of shit! For this random ass old classist lady of a house that didnt even have a council seat has figured your shit out and now is using the glorious evolution powers to run rampant in zaun and kill whoever she doesnt like in the name of opressing your ppl. LIKE Do yall realise how INSANE that would be???
Anyway i want jayce and viktor to starts an argument once witnessing camille as she patiently waits for them to finally sign the divorce papers she has brought with her at the battlefield cus these 2 are clearly falling out and its clearly on her to keep the beauracracy straight
