2/100 dop - 13th of August 2024, Tuesday
Today I woke up 1 hour later than I was planning to, but I managed to get my exercises done in the morning so I'm happy. Baby steps?
I think I also have perfected my notion planner yay! But I will only be truly sure when the academic year starts again hehe
To-do list for the day:
βοΈ Write cover letter to the summer camp mentor position
π Read GAD article no. 4
π Start RStudios lecture 2

06.08.2024
.
Not gonna lie I am lowkey dying because I am falling behind because my teacher went from covering half a topic a seminar to randomly covering 2 whole topics in one seminar.
I am just trying to work at my own pace and not burn myself out trying to catch up because my mental health is more important than a degree.

Hey y'all, I'm back!
This time I'm preparing for my postgrad exams, and I just started a few days ago. It's going slow, but I'm picking up the pace. This exam is a multiple choice question type, so besides reading and making notes and summarizing, I'm also solving questions everyday. The syllabus is massive though, so there's some starting problems π But I find that coffee and waking up early helps.
I'm someone who listens to music a lot, and music generally helps me focus on studying too, so I usually play lofi, or more recently, this particular song on repeat - I hope it boosts your productivity too!
Have a great day y'all! Don't forget to stop and smell the flowers. Much love to you all π

Catching Up // September 2024
I've been absent for quite some time now, being busy traveling with friends and family and recovering from my finals. During these months, quite a few academic goals of mine have changed - something I did not expect to happen.
β I realized that I want to keep my career path a bit more open ~ so I decided to apply for psychology and medicine at University. This also means preparing and taking two admissions tests in May of next year.
β I've switched from volunteering at a psychiatric ward to volunteering at the hospital in the area of pediatric oncology (cancer in children) for 11 months
β I will not write the Cambridge C2 Proficiency Exam this November ~ but will try to prepare for it anyways at a slow, steady pace in order for me to take it in a few years time (when I might actually need it to apply for a year abroad)
Keeping my path open also means being highly ambitious with my life, approaching competitive areas with a certain audacity and grit. It means deciding what kind of life I want to live, it's choosing my struggles and prioritizing my own path before fleeting pleasures and relationships. It is setting myself up for success and ensuring that I reach the potential that I know I have.

general surgery has started and im feeling tired to the bone. i think i still havent gotten over the mental exhaustion from being around people 24/7 during the almost 2 month duration of the volunteering project. on the brighter note, my volunteering supervisor praised me for "already showing your presence and duty as a doctor" and i will definitely remember that until i die.
it's rainy season, so i tried watching comedy horror movie m3gan when i got back from hospital and read some shirley jackson. give me horror comedy movies or horror books!
π§ - pineapple slice, baekhyun

a recap of my summer!! i managed to get a lot of research/writing done, and even started working on a journal paper as well! I'm definitely not a summer person, but I somehow managed to survive the heatwave - I'm so ready for the well-deserved vacation starting tomorrow :)

βͺ september goals recap

i shortened my list for this month now that i have a better sense of what i can accomplish in a month so i can focus on what i really want to do!
π©βπ» implement engineering project!
π§ keep enjoying my courses!
π¨π³ Chinese handwriting and composition practice!
βοΈ finish the first draft of my domodachi project!
π§Ά crochet project!
π: you might be wondering, why is βlittle witch girlβ the theme for this month? well, it's because i'm convinced it's going to take a magic trick to get all of this done by the end of the month that's already started π but also because i like the way it sounds like βlittle rich girlβ i'm low-key manifesting a promotion in this economy ok? π

so the week is half over and i'm kind of feeling low on energy and needing lots of sleep, which is the perfect opportunity to (sort of) try out einstein's daily routine (which is tbh the most personally palatable daily routine of a famous person i've ever chanced across)! i've been waking up at nearly 9 anyway since lately my head spins and i feel sick if i don't sleep like 9-10 hours.
So yeah, wake up at 9.
Between 9 and 10, eat breakfast and read the newspapers fiction
I know after breakfast he was said to often walk to Princeton and arrive by 10:30 or smth but (a) I don't go to Princeton, and (b) these days I study at home, so instead I'm just going to do some form of exercise.
~10:30 to 1pm: work study
have lunch (i read somewhere that he spends 1.5h on lunch and tea? i wish i could have a lunch and tea that leisurely but i do not have the time. so i won't.)
afternoons: receive visitors and work study
also afternoons: naps if needed (tho thankfully i seem to have enough energy to last me through the day if i get 9-10h of sleep... also i just don't think i'll have much time for naps. π)
~6:30pm: have dinner [and clean up]
after dinner: more work study if needed (most likely needed)
sleeeeeeeepppppppp [be ready for or in bed by 9 or 10]
i'll update this post later to let you know how it goesss~
i hope you're feeling better than i am this week ππ€

Habits and productivity are going ever so sloooooooooooooooooowly....
My screen time has been improving, from about 6 hours daily to about 4 and I'm trying to keep mindful of how close to my face I hold my phone.
π¦ I also really need to do a more proper screen detox as I just don't know what to do with myself anymore, even if it's still about going on yt or social media. It's not that fun anymore. And I don't read that often at all now! Plus I've been getting quite bored of my spotify playlists and sometimes even just can't find any songs that I want to listen to..
But! I'm getting back into drawing a lot more often now, I've been practicing playing my violin too and am rereading They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera for an easy read.
Currently still obsessed with πΆ Sailor Song - Gigi Perez

Oh!! And recently I started making myself stickers again!! And I'm loving it sm!! I've got them stuck on my desk π

Hi there~
Lately my motivation to study japanese has ran high, and Iβve really been enjoying it. even in the moments where I struggle with something and feel like quitting, I remember my goals and push through. It also helps immensely that I have found a routine that works with me, one that Iβve comfortably settled in and can see progress with already. I found a set (1-14) of γγ€γ°γ¨! for a great price and have been working on reading it for fun and for study :) Iβm still on the first volume, trying to understand what I can, then referring to a YouTube video by GaijinQuest, who goes over the first chapter or so of the manga in japanese, translating and explaining things.
Overall, Iβm really content with where Iβm at right now, and am excited to keep progressing with my studies.
Hope you are well

I have been sleeping so badly lately, this is not helping at all. Yesterday other than writing down notes for a small chapter of the book I also officially picked my last few uni classes, the good news is I have found a class I am very interested in, but that I will have to self study because the lectures are from six to either pm. Academia really fucking hates commuters, anyway it's a cool class I am interested in and I'll make the most of it even if I can't attend lectures. I still have problems figuring things out for a course in particular, so I emailed the professor, and we'll see what she tells me. I will have to email at least one more professor, but until I know when I want to take the exam of that class I can wait. Today I went back to reading and annotating my history of Sabaudian states book, my focus is still not perfect, but I am doing my best.
productivity list:
read first thing in the morning
continued reading and annotating the book I am studying (I am almost done reading the first half of the second section of the book, next week I'll definitely finish this first half and hopefully I will work my way through at least half of what is left of this section)
duolingo
continued working on my crochet project
π: Interworld by Neil Gaiman and Michael Reaves (I am reading this because it was gifted to me, but ngl I am not loving it, I am just very clearly not the target audience. It's not bad, it's just not for me, but it's entertaining enough till I find another book that calls to me)
study diaries - 11/October π»β

well, today im actually a bit overwhelmed with classes, so i just know i won't be able to do anything when i get off my train home (bc fridays mean i'll be back at my parents') except having dinner and sleep.
stuff i'll hopefully get done today anyways:
- 4 hours of online driving classes (i just put them as background bc they are mandatory, i don't think i could possibly hear 4 hours of classes after a full uni day) - maybe do this during classes if the uni wifi can handle it - finish lab report #3 - finish the 3D sketch from last week, bc i forgot to work on it LOL (i'll work on it during business class hopefully) (pic of yesterday's sketch bc it was really fun)
(also, look at the cool file icons i did when i should have been paying attention to class LOL. im actually so happy about it)
