Childhood Nostalgia - Tumblr Posts
Today I woke up and chose chaos so y'all get to listen to me rant about something from my childhood that haunts me to this day.
When I was a child I lived in an old wooden house that didn't have any glass. All the doors and shudders were solid wood and the windows were just screens. Because of this plenty of random bugs and animals would end up getting into the house. This was always very annoying but there was one animal that always terrified me to my very core: the tokay gecko.
This little shit:

Now some strange people out there may think it's cute. But you know what's not cute? This 12" thing staring at you from your bedroom ceiling screaming at you at 3 in the morning. I cannot put its call into words but let me just say that the sound it produces rattles your very bones and sends chills down to your soul.
My parents once told me a story about a neighbour's cat's encounter with one of these things in order to stop me from trying to pet one. The thing to note about tokay geckos is that when they bite you their gaw locks, stopping them from being able to let go. So this cat got bit by a gecko, freaked out, and then ripped the entire body off its leg. The thing was that the head was still attached to the cat. So when the owner got home that night they saw their long-haired white Persian cat covered in gecko blood with the head still attached to his arm. The only way the owner was able to remove the head was by taking a screwdriver and prying it open.
So anyway that was my childhood.
I went back to my childhood home.
It looked so different but the familiar peacefulness was still the same. I felt it call out to me, a relic of a different time.
Most of the people I knew had moved away long ago but I could still see their shadows linger. How odd, even the living can leave ghosts behind.
I met the sweet old couple who gave us home-grown strawberries and had lunch with my childhood friend. For a moment, I wanted to pretend that I was six again, and nothing had changed.
I could still hear the sound of distant footsteps and the playful shrieks of children. So close yet so far away.
Sometimes, I find myself wishing that I had never left.
i randomly started looking for this one cartoon i watched the same few episodes of on repeat when i was a kid, but i only found the trailer for it and ended up stumbling on bravestarr again. totally forgot about that one lmao
the cartoon i was initially looking for is called cyboars (the 2011 version). i only ever saw it on this kid tablet thing that came with an app that had a bunch of free stuff like that on it, and there was like.. 5 episodes max unless you paid for the rest. atp i just wanna know if anyone else even knows what this is or saw it, bcuz i literally can't find much more than the trailer/character intro/first few minutes of the first episode lmao

rare aesthetic: places you remember from somewhere deep in your subconscious
Anyone else have Rite Aide childhood nostalgia or is it just me? We need to make Rite Aide/CVS/Walgreens core a trending aesthetic ✨ (Yes, I was the sickly kid back when I was in school)

you spent the night with your grandma and everything is okay <3

I am feeling nostalgic, so I did this:

These were some of my favorite things when I was in 3rd to 4th grade, these were the best years of my life. My favorite cartoon was Miraculous, I loved creepypastas, ESPECIALLY Jeff The Killer.
At that time I had the biggest group of friends I've ever had, we were 6 people and we drew comics together, I was the one who started it and most of the stories were mine. the main one was "Super Pudim", it was about a Super Hero that was a pudding, and we sold these comics to other children in the class in exchange for objects like coloried pencils, origami, candy, etc. We even made little articulated paper toys of our characters.
In 4th grade(I was like... 9 years old) I kinda stopped the comic thing and started to do animation and Gacha Life stories.
Well, 5th grade was the last year that our group was still together, since in 6th we all changed schools and the c∅r∅na virus thing was starting, I totally stopped making comics and animation after that(but I started doing these things again a few years later).

I remember as a kid, my oldest sister left this book at our house after she moved in with her dad, I cant remember what the book was called, but it was made of this hard wood or fake wood? Idk, but at the end of the book there was this little hollow spot for storing stuff.
My mum is a self proclaimed Wiccan, she's more like a hippie in the way that she's appropriated parts of Hinduism and Buddhism without knowing anything about those parts. Anyway, the book was about fairies and summoning them, and i loved fairies' and mythology as a child, in fact, I can still remember the exact chant the book said would summon fairies. You had to be near a body of water or a large tree, sitting in a circle of rose petals, and you'd chant it three times:
"all faer folk surrounding me, warmth and love I offer thee, honour me by coming near, beautiful light please appear"
I remember the first time I did it, a few minutes later a dragonfly flew into our house, despite all the doors being closed. I still love mythology to this day, but at least now I don't get all my Greek mythos from the Percy Jackson books lol.
