Cozy Fantasy - Tumblr Posts

Finished this book about ten minutes ago, and it packs so many conversations into so few pages. It imagines such a bright future in such a specific way. Like much of Chambers’ other works, it employs characters who are kind and good to begin with, but who must make sense of their place in something bigger. This, Chambers seems to suggest, is the great work of our lives, even when we do not feel that we are “doing” anything.

Hi, I'm Heidi (she/her). I'm more than three decades old, and I've been off and on Tumblr for years. (kinda miss the tumbeasts ngl)

but rn!! I'm here on this account to let people know!! that I am posting my cozy fantasy stories on a Neocities so people can just read them for free if they want!! it'll be like a serial fiction thing, I'll put up more chapters and short stories once in a while. (might be slow depending on my health, just so ya know)

Got a few chapters of my first book, Remedy, posted now. It's a character-focused medical drama set in a human-free fantasy world. A kind-hearted pandemic story set among dragons, weasels and bug people who have disabilities and trauma, and they use their varied skills and magical abilities to help each other. Summary and content warnings are on the site!

The Bell at Sealey Head by Patricia A. McKillip My rating: 4 of 5 stars This was the perfect day off book. It was light, beautifully written, engaging, and fun. I don't typically like books where one of the characters is a writer. It always feels a bit cheap to me, but it was well done in this book. This book was a cozy read. It didn't have people complaining about home, or running off on adventures because they were bored with their lot in life. It all took place in one small town where everyone knew everyone. It contained a variety of women, none of whom were warrior women off to be a man. They were readers, writers, healers, maids, aunts, sisters, wives, and friends. The men were equally as normal, innkeepers, fathers, scholars, husbands, brothers, and friends. It was a bit like a Jane Austin fairytale. It had that regency feel but with magic, a cursed house, a maid who opened doors to other worlds, and a wood witch who lived in a tree house. The romances were sweet without being heavy-handed, and I loved the big family which was very like a big family. I also loved the young man who took care of his father in his old age and the young woman who asked why. It was just a pleasing fairy tale all the way around. View all my reviews

Popping My New Tumblr's Cherry!!

Popping my new Tumblr's cherry!!

Too much? 🤣

I made a new Tumblr space since my old blog was a mess, and I had no idea where to even start fixing it. I've been gone from here a while and now that the Instagram algorithm has well and truly fucked me over I'm back!

Now let's see what sort of stuff has changed around here 😊

Spell Bound | By F. T. Lukens |

Spell Bound | by F. T. Lukens | ★★★★☆

Lukens has become one of my auto-buy authors. Everything he writes makes me smile and leaves me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.

Spell Bound is a fun jaunt through a world of magic, following two young apprentice sorcerers as they try to save their teachers from the very magical government that they all work for.

Rook and Sun are the perfect depiction of the Grumpy and Sunshine trope, and I loved every minute they were on the page together. Their growing friendship, and then love, was so cute, and set at a pace that worked for me.

If you’re in the mood for a queer, medium stakes, and cozy urban fantasy, then I would definitely recommend that you try this one out.

TGIF!! What are you reading this weekend?

If I can pry myself away from Zelda for any length of time 😅 I'll try to finish my listen of Rust in the Root before my library wants it back.
