I may not have made a clean version of my persona, but I certainly made a new dnd character!

First Dungeons & Dragons character I ever made. I took so long making her and I just realised I didn't post her here too. ❅

⨀ Art I did for fun back when I used to play DND. Don't know if I'll ever go back to playing but It was fun while it lasted. I'm posting these because I'm pretty happy with the ones I did manage to get rendered. I was using Krita at the time. it was pulling teeth, I found out after I caved and bought CSP just how much I hated Krita. However, I do miss its quick toolbar, that was nice.

◉ Most of the characters are my friends' DND OCs, not mine. My characters are the blue half-elf witch (basically my persona, it was my first campaign and I didn't want to be overly adventurous), and the purple-skinned high elf in the green dress (which I made for a campaign I had to drop when my mental health jumped from a cliff).

So I got a resin printer this weekend (Elegoo Mars 2 Pro), and the upgrade in quality just has me gobsmacked.

I reprinted Mars, my Elf barbarian in the game I'm playing in at the moment. Which is fortunate because she recently grew Antlers due to the somewhat questionable decision to eat some Fae moss found in a wizards basement.

Here are some comparisons between my new mars, and the original printed in FDM:

It was actually because of the resin I noticed that what I'd originally painted as shorts was actually her leg and the top of her boot.

I used to think I wasn't missing out on too much with just an my FDM printer, aside from having to steer away from some minis with lots of thin details, but even sections where I thought my FDM machine was handling quite well are just so much nicer in the Resin print.

I still think you can get decent table ready minis with just an FDM machine, but my new preference is definitely for Resin minis.

I keep just spending time turning this model around looking closely, because the quality is such an improvement. I'd never manage to get the antlers so crisp and clean with an FDM print. I also don't have to struggle with thin paint wikking away into layer lines, which makes the painting process much easier.

My Mars mini is Sony Jona from Artisan Guild, with some edits made in Blender to turn her from a Sorceress into a Barbarian. My limited Blender skill means I decided she just really likes apples, since I needed to put something round in that hand.

I'm holidaying at the beach, so of course I painted something in a snowy theme XD.

Pretty happy with this result! Probably could be a little cleaner in spots, but for a one day paint job I'm not complaining.

In particular the icy base turned out way better than I expected.

I just love that before I even had baldurs gate and knew anything about the dark urge I created a dnd5e character that was an elf barbarian (thought that was funny) with the 'haunted one' background.

I made a version of him for my dark urge run through <3

Brief overview of his story ⤵️

His name is altair and his story was that he was adopted by a half-orc barbarian family, raised to fight like they do, loved unconditionally. He had strange blackouts growing up but never did anything malicious (without good intent). He was (unbeknownst to him) picked by a bhaalist cult as their chosen. When he was 15, he ended up blacking out and killing his entire family. They lived in a small house in the forest, so the only ones that knew what happened were the cultists that always spied on him (through spells and such). They saw him unconscious and took him back to their temple.

When Altair came to, and realised what he had done, he tried to take his own life. The cultists didn't let that happen, but it resulted in injuries that left him unable to speak. The cultists indoctrinated him. Told him he was meant to be there, told him what they were doing was important and good for the world. So he stayed, every night he was visited by apparitions of his siblings, who encouraged him to carry on and do good.

Until he found documentation of his families incident, he learnt that it was the cult initiating the blackout. He went into a rage and tried to escape, killing any cultists that got in his way, but also creating paths for any trapped/indoctrinated children to follow. He destroyed as much as he could.

Afterwards, all he does is travel from town to town, using his strength to help who he can, getting rid of anyone he deems morally wrong. He knows he was 'destined' to harm people, but he doesn't want to.

So I’m in a new DnD game, I’m playing as my child, Mary, this time as a barbarian! Right now she’s level one and looks like this!

Vicious little cutie! But at level three I’m going to subclass into the path of the beast and make her part cat!

Hopefully I’ll surprise the rest of the party with her when she grows extra ears!

So I’ve been doing some crazy stuff in D&D and Mary, my child, can now animorph.

She’s a barbarian, specifically path of the beast so she could already change to become more beast-like, but now she is also a druid so she can turn into a full animal BUT she can still rage and change her form, even as a beast so eventually I want to turn into a hawk with a scorpion tail!

Drew Marshall again. The man needs more of a wardrobe.
