You may or may not remember â about a month ago, at the beginning of August, the corporate press ran nearly carbon copy coverage of Venezuelaâs election. The U.S. State Department issued a statement that the New York Times must have used as a template.
In fact, the State Department released another statement a few days ago titled âMarking One Month Since Venezuelaâs Presidential Election.âÂ
Itâs like clockwork. A countryâs people elect a leader who wonât kiss the ring of the U.S.; then, the U.S. uses its entire arsenal to delegitimize and destabilize its entire government.Â
The Peoples Power Assembly in Baltimore, Maryland, held a film screening and forum to tell Venezuelaâs real story.Â
Dark times all around but there are still people out there who love you
Do not hurt yourself, do not hurt others, get help, talk to someone, anyone. Humanity has survived before and we can do it now if we all just support each other. My country and my people let me down and endangered my life but thereâs nothing I or anyone else can do about that so letâs try to spread the love that is so clearly lacking.

âHonestly thereâs no point in votingâ
Buddy, Pal, Amigo-
Like it or not we are all on a bus headed to go right off a cliff, and voting is the only way to avoid careening off the edge, by either stopping the bus, or slowing it down long enough to find a solution.
Some people will knowingly vote to drive off the cliff. :/
If you, and every other person with your mindset, think itâs ok to abstain from voting itâs the same as voting to go off the cliff and die , because like it or not, the people wanting to drive off the cliff will vote to do so.
Donât let other people tell you voting doesnât work or change things, it. does.
We have been so conditioned by false media and propaganda to normalize cynicism in politics that we have come to believe that our choices donât matter, that our voices shouldnât be heard, that we should be ok with all the wrong things in our society, and anything or anyone saying otherwise is villainized and stigmatized
And maybe you might have a point in your cynicism, it might really all just be that badâŠ.
but the fact is- would you rather at least TRY and stop the bad things from happening by voting, for your future, for the future of your family and friends, for the sake of being able to say âI Tried.â
Or would you rather just sit back and let the bad things happen because âthereâs no point?â
(Donât forget the big election isnât the only one that counts, the small elections matter too)
I made this a while ago, never got around to posting is because I never finished putting it up on redbubble
anyway. Vote!
I'm worried...
Note: this is about my work-in-progress debut novel
I was never the "speak up" person. Like, I grew up staying behind the shadows of those who stood up and speak up against wrongdoings. That is why I take pride and commend those that do, but I could never say the same to myself. Not only is my insane inhibition a hurdle to my thought process, but I would also tend to panic as well. If I were to speak up, the words come out in a mumble-jumble of scattered irrelevance, and I would digress-- every time.
Anyway, what this post is mainly about is how I've been trying to fight that side of me that prohibits my capabilities to stand up and speak up. It is my constant fear and anxiety that I may insult or disrespect, for I have witnessed first-hand how my words tend to shoot to kill, and I would immediately regret and sulk and hate myself, and I'm sick of hating myself.
But then I realized, I can still stand up for what is right and speak up, but not in a literal sense. That is why I decided to be more vocal and factual in my writing, doing my best to avoid bias, and to side with the truth, but in my current case of writing a fiction novel, just a tinge of fantasy riddled surrounding it.
And that worries me. Because I am writing something that might become an allegory of my country's government; how its ineptitude to detect nor eradicate corruption and the rampant, recurring political dynasties had been so incompetent and futile it's preposterous. That is why I wanted to write about it. Although my intention is what was aforementioned, I would never mean to directly reference names nor mean libel. But as the saying goes "if the shoe fits", well, then there's nothing I can do about it. Well maybe there is, but no one (and I mean no one) can stop me from exercising my freedom of speech.
And yes, I am very much aware that there are repercussions, but I might as well say it now; fuck off, and respect my "opinion".

Christian
"X should have voted in 2016 if they didn't want this to happen!"
We did vote.
We won by millions of votes, we were the majority.
And yet, we lost, and a man who tried to overthrow the govt w/ a violent coup was able to appoint three judges who can serve undemocratically for life.
These are the things people would have rioted over in the past, and would have been seen as being on the right side of history.

yk its so funny. my dad thinks I hate talking about politics and such, and he thinks I'm drastically uninformed etc. but really I just hate talking politics with him specifically. he's the opposite from me, politically, and he's the type who won't really debate, he will just throw around insults and thinks he's won when I give up trying. like no, asshat. I just don't want to engage with you because you act like this.

I have written 78 postcards so far to Ohio voters encouraging them to vote NO on Issue 1, as part of the Postcards to Voters campaign. And I'm signed up for another 6 this weekend. My best wishes and pen are with the Ohio voters defeating this attempt to screw the rules so abortion rights can't be protected.
đš OHIO VOTERS đš
on Aug. 8th 2023 there will be a special election! This is a special election to change the definition of what constitutes a majority vote in Ohio.
If Issue 1 passes it will change the definition of a majority vote from simple majority (highest number of votes wins even if its just barely over 50%) to a 60% vote to constitute a majority.
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THIS ISSUE DOES NOT PASS for at least two reasons. 1) it is unconstitutional. Majority has meant simple majority for a century and it is equal and fair. 2) This November election there will be a vote to amend the Ohio constitution to add the right to abortion. If Issue 1 passes this August then it will be much more difficult to pass the November abortion amendment.
VOTE NO ON ISSUE 1
I'm late making this post. If you are not registered to vote, you will miss this Aug. election. PLEASE get out and vote by Aug. 8th if you can and if you are not registered to vote, consider registering to support the November issue!
Also, please consider reblogging even if you are not in Ohio. More reblogs means more eyes on the post!
Thank you!
