Does anyone else feel like the general attitude towards cross dressing is so misogynistic? Because to me it feels like women presenting masculinely are treated as if they're empowering themselves; some people are threatened by it and some are attracted to it. Whereas when a man presents femininely, he is almost always treated as if he's degrading himself for the benefit of others' sexual interests. Which falls right in line with how women have been treated for decades, doesn't it? If a woman wears makeup and gets dolled up, it's ALWAYS assumed that she's doing it for men, and no matter WHAT she does, she WILL be degraded for it. Whereas if a man puts on some ruddy cologne and slides into a clean suit, he is treated as the most powerful person in the room. Why is it that women are only seen as independent and powerful and dominant when they're imitating a traditional man? Why is it that men are seen as slutty, attention seeking and incompetent when imitating a traditional woman? Does anyone else see how absolutely fucked up that is?

I hate all of these useless words like "feminine" and masculine" that don't mean anything of substance. I want to live in a world where we shed adjectives that push people in gender-based boxes and we all embrace our most authentic selves; the way God created us to be.

This movie was great. Even for me, a 37 year-old woman, it was inspiring to see a strong female who was still a good person.

Women have the right to love having sex.

Women have the right to never want to have sex.

Women have the right to choose how much sex we want to have, and with whom.

Women can experience attraction.

Women can enjoy sexual pleasure.

Women can prefer never to think about sex.

We are autonomous and have the right to choose who we would like to have sex with and what sexual acts we would like to engage in.

We should not feel obligated to engage in sexual acts with anyone we don't want to.

We should not feel ashamed of our bodies or our desire.

(Note: this post applies to people of all genders!)

Shaming women for catering to the "male gaze" is a form of conservative slut-shaming masquerading as feminism.

There's a trend I've seen of people looking at female characters in media who look sexually attractive and saying that the creators of this media are bad or the enemies of feminists because they created something to "cater to the male gaze."

For example, video games with female characters who have big boobs are criticized for "sexualizing women" for the sake of male consumers.

I've also seen a post which made a comparison between the old and new Harley Quinn, claiming that the one who had "choppy and fun" bangs rather than "seductively framing her face" was much better because it showed female rather than male gaze.

The issue with these criticisms is that well-meaning feminists start to generalize them to real women. We tell women not to look seductive or sexually attractive because those traits cater to men. We feel pity for them for having become victims to men's lust.

Do you see why this is bad? If you look closely enough at these claims about the male gaze, you see that modern feminist language is being used to repeat the same conservative slut-shaming bullshit our society should have overcome by now.

How different are these claims, really, from the teacher at my high school who followed her presentation about the dress code by saying that girls who have been victims of sexual harassment have invited it upon themselves with the way that they were dressed?

Some things that are bad:

Telling women how they can and can't dress

Saying that if men are attracted to a woman, she is not safe or not respectable

Telling women to dress modestly

Shaming women for wanting to be attractive to men

To be clear, the opposite is true too. It's bad to force women into sex of course, or to make them wear something "attractive" that they aren't comfortable with. But telling women that they are "catering to the male gaze" if they want to look attractive disempowers women by taking away our choice to be sexually liberated, choose how we dress, or look attractive for our own sakes.

In addition, when feminists consider the male gaze their enemy, they also start to consider women who dress attractively or are purposely seductive or engage in sexual acts as their enemies. We end up with women yelling at women, enforcing the patriarchy on ourselves. It's fucked up, and we can do better.

Y'all, controversial opinion but like. Safer sex is really important. We have to teach teenagers about it.

Sex is a good and natural thing, we have to stop being scared of "enabling bad behavior" when teaching about how to do it safely. Use condoms, dental dams, and whatever else is needed to prevent pregnancy and the spread of STIs.

Things that make you a pervert:

not respecting consent

making sexual advances towards someone who you have power over

sexual harassment or doing things that make someone uncomfortable

Things that do not make you a pervert:

experiencing sexual attraction

You can't control your emotions but you can control your actions.

Those times when you're not even horny per say but... that person just makes you feel safe and in love and happy. So you're attracted to them anyway.

Feeling that sensation in your vagina with the same comfort and warmth that comes from the touch of their hands to your hair and the weight of their shoulders resting on yours, chests pressed together like cuddling but better.

Sex because you love the closeness of touching another person. Penetration because you love it when someone you love cums. A feeling of tiredness and comfort, low sex drive but a love for sex.

I guess sex is just a part of who I am. And nothing can take away my desire for it, even the fact that I'm on my period and masturbated three times a day for the last week.

"Cute sexy girls this" and "tight pussy" that and obsession over fictional girls with big tits and smooth perfect skin and cutesy innocent attitudes.

I'm done with the male gaze. Show me some more disgusting, rancid, nasty female characters. Show me pussies that stink and armpits with long, thick hair. Show me monster women and ugly women and women who have violent and concerning urges.

Give me women's sexuality as a act and a desire, not something that happens to them. Show me women who attack you nastily and pierce you with their claws. Show me women oozing with piss and blood and pussy juice. I want scales and sharp teeth, I want women who eat roadkill.

Give me women who are monstrous and disgusting. And make this central to their femininity. Done being perfect and preyed upon.

look, the most fundamental concept to misogyny is that the female sex is inherently inferior to the male sex. as cheapened and mocked as the term "patriarchy" has become, it literally refers to the system of assumed male supremacy which has perpetuated a social and political adherence to the myth of female inferiority.

"women are too irrational to be in positions of leadership; what if she gets her period or goes through menopause? women's bodies are dictated by unstable flux and a biological clock. their physical weakness predisposes them to domestic tasks and their ability to bear children means that's one of the few things the inferior female body is good for, just like their ability to be penetrated for male pleasure and reproduction means that's their primary function."

female socialisation, as complex and interculturally-diverse a concept as it is, at its core means the reality of growing and learning your behaviour from this ambient background that presumes your own inferiority. you learn (often without even realising) to act in accordance with this artificial sexist role, viewing yourself in pieces and parts according to their usefulness as resources to men, second-guessing your own capacity for anything socially deemed 'male' and minimising yourself accordingly. The host of behaviours this yields in women differs between cultures and times, but commonly includes forms of ornamentation, passivity, and servitude; these are then attributed to some innate female nature, piled on as further proof of our inherent inferiority.

perceptions of the female body are utterly central to misogyny and the feminist efforts to liberate us from it. pretending that the female body is irrelevant to misogyny – or worse, that these learned, socialised behavioural patterns are innate to some naturally-inborn 'female brain' – will never be an effective approach to fighting sexism and will actively hinder female class consciousness.

Girl Power and Future Films: Poll

Without a doubt, the Barbie movie was a success but the movie was about so much more than a childhood toy. Thinking about the themes interwoven in the plot, it would be nice (IMO) if even more screenplays were optioned that take those ideas into consideration and expand upon them in upcoming female centered films. Quite a few talented women out there for various roles, whether paired together, solo, or in a large ensemble cast. Who would you like to see? I'm limited by the poll's constraints so answer in the tags if you don't see your picks listed because I know I left off a lot of great names of talented artists. I also focused on slightly younger artists, so if you're looking for women a little further along the road of life, feel free to add more names or suggest a second poll! Maybe I'll discover a new artist to watch!

I want everybody who’s calling Ken a Trophy Husband to know that he’s actually a Trophy Boyfriend, because when Ruth Handler invented Ken in the 1960s, she was adamant that he would never marry her and instead be her “handsome steady”, so that Barbie remained a figure of independence for the little girls and was never put in the position of housewife.

Her house is hers. She bought it and furnished it with money she made in her own job. In STEM, in politics, in healthcare, in fashion, in academy, in customer service. Her credit card is in her name (women in the US couldn’t have their own regardless of marital status until 1974). And it’s all pink and fashionable because femininity and badassness aren’t mutually exclusive. No matter who you are, you can be anything.

That’s why Barbie’s slogan is “you can be anything”. Teaching these ideals to little girls is why Barbie was created. Empowering women and empowering femininity is the original meaning of the Barbie doll. It’s not that you have to be all this to be a woman, but if you are all or some of this, you too are awesome.

And somehow pop culture deliberately changed that narrative. Sexualised, bimbofied, and villainised her, when she actually isn’t responsible for the impossible beauty standards — people are, she’s just a stylised, not-to-scale toy like most others.

Men are frothing because he’s just Ken and I guess they were expecting her to be just Barbie, but that’s exactly what Ken is. Canonically. A badass woman’s himbo boyfriend.

This movie has the potential to change the way we collectively see Barbie radically into what Ruth Handler’s intended, I’m so very excited

Feminism vs Female Empowerment vs Feminist Exemplification

In the past years this thread of labeling anything that’s female positive as feminist has really skyrocketed and it bothers me greatly. Great female representation and female empowerment does not make a thing feminist. Something that illustrates, explains or describes a feminist value or point of view does not make that thing feminist.

What defines something as sexist or empowering or feminist is the context and the message or objective that it wants to convey.

There are men in the industry who are progressive and works towards equality by hiring more women, and actively trying to give us better female representation. There are women who direct women in films about women and who try to maintain a crew or team of mostly women. In both cases, none of this makes their project or them feminists.

The majority of the entertainment industry responds and caters to The Male Gaze – it does so even if there are no men operatively involved in the project, because 99.9% of people in the industry do not make art, they are here to make money.

image

And although it is based on what we commonly call artistic careers, that does not mean that there is a really artistic background or objective in the things being made – it’s purely commercial in a vast majority.  The ultimate goal of the entertainment industry is to sell. Therefore, much of this "art" is not progressive, thought-provoking or subversive in any way, specially if the person in charge believes that this could cost them money. The main objective is to market to the consumers and they do so at the expense of everything - this includes quality, values, points of view, consciousness and self-awareness. And this is when two very interesting things happen: Faux Feminism & Female Exploitation.

Female Exploitation is when the person in charge believes that what sells is quiet, beautiful and sensual women – this is the main thing, and the character's story is secondary (so much that most end up being just eye candy or as a manic pixie dream girl). In this case they think of subversive and thought-provoking as something that can harm their income. So the actresses talent and creativity doesn’t really matter, as long as they’re pretty and sell.

image

Faux Feminism is when the person in charge believes that the money is in the feminist pov and they make films that could pass as feminist and with strong female characters that follow closely and/or represent the political climate and feminist discourse of today – but that does not make the product feminist, mainly because in most cases they do this in the most superficial way for a monetary gain. Keep in mind, in this cases they don’t explicitally use the word feminism in attachment to whatever their selling, but it’s very obvious.

image

And sometimes is neither of these, but instead Casual Feminism - when something could represent, stand for feminism but that wasn’t the intention at all. Feminists saw it and were like HECK YEAH.

Is feminist a project in which mostly or only women participate? Is feminist a project where the main roles are 99% female? Is feminist a project that addresses sexism? Is feminist a project that’s inclusive? Is feminist a project with independent and empowered women? Is feminist a project that criticizes the way in which society treats women? The answer to all this is NO.

What defines whether something is feminist or not, is first and foremost if whether its exhibitors/creators are feminists or if it was written to represent/stand for feminism explicitly and consciously. If I wear a shirt that says I am feminist, that does not make me feminist. Being a fan of Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Emma Watson or any other feminist does not make me a feminist. Reading one feminist book does not make me feminist (it’s the start, if so I decide). I'm just wearing something, following a person, consuming a product. And many artistic products are attributed the term feminist when they are not in the slightest. If you assume that it is feminist because it exemplifies feminism or is potentially empowering for women, that does not make it feminist. Talking about self-love, girl power, sorority and sexism does not make you a feminist - it makes you self-aware of your rights, strengths and weaknesses and that is excellent and encouraged, but it does not make you feminist.

Why? Because Feminism is a philosophical, social, political, economic and artistic current. What makes a feminist person a feminist, above all, is that they identify themselves as such, with all the awareness of what feminism is because they have studied it or are constantly studying it or have the intention of studying it.

image

We can long and dream for a feminist awakening in the entertainment industry, but precisely because of that we should not label just anything as sfeminist, because labeling something or someone as feminist when it is not is a disrespect to the person or product and misleading; and it is harmful to the people and products that are feminist and that are mostly ignored, criticized, received in a negative way and usually overshadowed by pseudo-feminist products with better marketing, plus it only helps to preserve the misinformation and misunderstanding of what feminism is and superficializes it. Not to mention it can perpetuate some misconceptions.

Something or someone not being feminist does not mean it is sexist and there IS feminism in the entertainment industry, but very little and it usually suffers from detractors from the industry itself; so what we find mostly is female empowerment, in an initial and often diluted facet.

So no, we can't call it feminist but we can call it empowering since many women feel that spark of strength, they feel identified and reflected accurately, maybe they even feel understood - and that is something very valuable. We can also use them as an exemplification of feminism, there are many artistic projects that are not feminist but serve to explain, illustrate or describe a feminist point of view because they showed it excellently.

Let’s see some examples of what I’m talking about:

image

Mean Girls is a great example of a feminist movie. It represents and portrays feminist points of view and feminist values consciously and with the intention and awareness of doing it directly from a feminist stand. It has the feminist label very big and very visibly. It was written by a feminist (Tina Fey), inspired on the novel of another feminist (Rosalind Wiseman). The director is not a feminist, as far as we know, but that doesn’t take away from its value as a feminist piece of work in any manner.

image

Legally Blonde is another great example of a feminist film. The writers, Karen McCullah and Kirsten Smith are both feminists, Kirsten notably being a Riot Grrrl. It is based on a novel written by a feminist (Amanda Brown). And just as Mean Girls, it represents and portrays feminist points of view and feminist values consciously and with the intention and awareness of doing it directly from a feminist stand. It has the feminist label very big and very visibly. Also, it is very female empowering.

Now let’s talk Harley Quinn, because is a very interesting one.

First, let’s talk about her in the comics. She wasn’t created by feminists. She isn’t coded as feminist. She is not written as a feminist character. She is not female empowering for most of her story. Nor she or her story are an exemplification of feminism. The character is not meant to represent or embody feminism in any way. So is she a feminist character? No.

image

Now, in the movie Birds of Prey. Again, she wasn’t created by feminists. Was the script written by a woman? Yes, but not a feminist woman. Is the movie directed by a woman? Yes, but again, not a feminist woman – the director even said in an interview that she didn’t want to “sound too much like a diehard bra-burning feminist”. The film had an all women crew. Again, Harley isn’t coded as feminist - she is not written as a feminist. The character is not meant to represent or embody feminism in any way. BUT is it female empowering? HELL YES. And the movie as a whole is a great exemplification of feminism, this is another quote from the director: “a harlequin’s role is to serve, they’re nothing without a master and so the movie is about Harley Quinn becoming her own master. And not just Harley, but the Birds of Prey as well. All these women go through something and they’re all trying to break free from their own chains”. So is the movie feminist? No, and so are not it’s characters. But we can and should embrace and celebrate Harley Quinn from a feminist point of view.

Is Hermione Granger a feminist character? No. But she is female empowering and an exemplification of feminism. The actress who plays her, Emma Watson, is a feminist but that doesn’t magically makes all the characters she portrays feminists or well written female characters.

image

On the other hand, Lisa Simpson IS a feminist. Is the voice-actress a feminist? I don’t know. Are the creators feminists? I dont know either - but it doesn’t matter because Lisa is a feminist and she is explicitly portrayed and written as such, she voices feminism and is meant to embody and represent a feminist (even if it’s an 8 year old one) – and she does so very well if I might add.

So stop calling everything “feminist” and stop telling people that if they believe in equality they are inherently feminists even if they dont want to use that label themselves, stop this specially towards people (I’ve seen this in comment sectons). In my experience, there are three types of women who refuse the feminist label:

1) The Closeted Feminist: a woman that’s not afraid to speak up about their opinions but doesn’t describe themselves or their povs with the word feminism even though their arguments and discourse has a feminist stand that is based on feminist theory to the point where it’s obvious this person has immersed themselves in feminist books, podcasts, films, documentaries, etc – this could be because labeling oneself as a feminist is dangerous. Either in their house, or in the society they’re a part of – and with this I mean that it could actually lead to abuse or active persecution. Not everyone has the same freedom, background and opportunity you do.

 2) The Double Agent: they say they don’t need feminism and they don’t believe in it but they still stand for equality and justice. Usually this person doesn’t really understand what feminism is because they have never cared to learn about it and yet they go round commenting on feminist blogs about “how feminists are wrong” – this person believes the patriarchy’s version of what feminism is. This person is aware of the injustice and inbalance but thinks feminism is sexism towards men, hatred of men and that is used for women as a women-victimizing campaign to get pity points and advantages. This are the people that said Taylor Swift played the victim for 13 years.

 3) The Free Woman: she doesn’t believe in feminism, she probably voices hate towards feminism and feminists and thinks very low of them because “she doesn’t need feminism” because she loves the men in her life and has “never suffered sexism” first hand so it doesn’t exist. The Free Woman and the Patriarchal Feminist have in common that they feel feminism victimizes women and is sexism towards men. The difference is one thinks inequality is a myth and the other one knows it’s still a thing.

If ya’ll read all of this KUDOS TO YOU and THANK YOU. I’ve been thinking about this for almost a year and it took me a long time and effort to write this and put my thoughts into words cause I’m really bad at expressing myself and lack communication skills. I’d like to write too about the difference between Feminist Icon – Feminist Woman – Iconic Women, just because I’m tired of that mess too.

Through Hell (Jimin One-Shot, Angst)

“Could you try to at least be a little personable?” your fiance growled, gripping your forearm tightly.

“I-I’m trying,” you muttered, looking down at the ground.

He pinched your jaw between his fingers, forcing your eyes to his. “Well fucking try harder.”

Dragging you out of the empty hallway, the both of you rejoined the table with smiles much too large to be real. You did your best to please your fiance, making an effort to talk more, laugh louder, and gesticulate frequently. You were the life of the party, the perfect trophy almost-wife, there to socialize and make witty conversation.

You realized you had done your job too well when one of your fiance’s business partners slid a hand over your thigh, chuckling at something you said. You instantly froze, flicking a fearful glance towards your fiance. Rage smoldered behind his dark eyes.

“Fuck,” you thought. You shoved the man’s hand away and abruptly excused yourself to the ladies’ room, practically sprinting away in an attempt to escape.

Too late. A hand closed around your wrist, jerking you to a stop the second you stepped outside.

“What the fuck was that?” your fiance snarled, yanking you close.

You let out a yelp. “I-I don’t know what you’re talking about!”

“The hell you don’t!”

He released you only to draw a hand back and slap you square in the face, the force of his palm colliding with your cheek causing you to stumble. Your vision blurred as the sting worked its way through your nerve endings, causing your skin to redden.

Your fiance drew his hand back once more when you heard the shout of an unfamiliar voice. “Hey!”

You blinked away your tears just in time to see your fiance whirl around and get punched in the face. He fell to the ground with a groan, his eyes rolling back in his head.

The stranger who’d saved you clambered on top of your fiance, pinning him to the ground. Your fiance struggled, but stilled when he saw the stranger’s fist poised above him, ready to strike. “The fuck is wrong with you?!” the stranger growled. “Didn’t your mommy teach you not to hit?!”

“Get off me!” your fiance grunted.

The stranger reared back and punched him once more, effectively knocking him out. With a heaving chest, he slowly stood up and turned towards you, using his fingers to comb back his messy orange hair. You were still frozen from shock, your mouth parted open, your hands hanging limply at your sides. It wasn’t until the stranger reached a hand out to you when the feeling began returning to your limbs. You closed your mouth and slid your palm into his, surprised at how soft his skin was.

“Hey,” he said. “I’m Jimin.”

“Y-Y/n,” you stuttered, distracted by the way he moved your hands up and down.

“Are you okay?” he asked, leaning down and looking in your eyes.

“I think so.”

Your fiance groaned, causing both of you to look down at him. “He’s coming to,” Jimin said. “We should get out of here. Can I give you a ride?”

“Sure.”

He gave you a small smile, tugging gently on the hand that was still sheathed in his. “C’mon. My ride’s a couple blocks from here.”

You nearly pulled your hand out of his. You didn’t know this guy. Just because he saved you from a brutal beating from your fiance didn’t mean he was a good person. For all you knew, he could be even worse than your fiance.

Then again, what did you have to lose? Your fiance would probably call the cops and get Jimin put in jail, then take you home and beat you senseless. You looked into Jimin’s bright brown eyes, and you saw nothing but sincerity and warmth. That was enough for you. You let him lead you down the steps, around the corner, and away from who was supposedly going to be your terrible future.

You relished in the freedom of getting away, giggling a bit as you both walked down the street still hand-in-hand. Jimin looked at you, nothing but fondness in his eyes. You took a second to look him up and down, appreciating every inch of the handsome man beside you. His bright orange hair stood in stark contrast to his black leather jacket and uber-tight jeans. Silver glinted in both of his ears, but an earring dangled down from just his left ear, giving him an attractive rebel vibe that had your heart pounding.

Wait. You couldn’t think thoughts like this. You were engaged. To be married.

But was it a true promise of marriage when you didn’t love him? When you were forced into betrothal by your controlling father? When you saw no happy future, no light at the end of the tunnel, no escape, no happiness?

“Sorry to barge into your argument like that,” Jimin said, running a hand sheepishly through his hair. “I didn’t mean to interfere, and I know it’s none of my business, but—”

“Don’t apologize,” you interrupted. “Believe me, you saved my ass back there. Temporarily, at least.”

He stared at you. “Don’t tell me you’re going back to that asshole.”

You glanced at the ground. “It’s not like I want to, but… I have no choice.”

Jimin stopped you right there, in the middle of the sidewalk, gently putting a finger under your chin and raising your eyes to his. Such a contrast to the way your fiance would grip your jaw and force you to look at him. “You always have a choice,” he murmured.

You gave him a tiny smile. “Tonight I do. But I don’t know what tomorrow will bring.”

“Look, I know I barely know you,” he said. “But come stay with me. My friends and I can protect you.”

You were taken aback. “You don’t even know me,” you retorted, slipping your hand out of his. “You don’t know who my father is. He’ll find some way to take you out and drag me back home.”

Jimin stepped close. “And you don’t know who I am.”

“I know enough.”

He smirked. “I don’t think you do.”

“I’m still not staying with you.”

“Fine. But the offer still stands.”

You opened your mouth to shoot a reply back, but closed it when a terrifying thought stopped you. They’d already be looking for you.

You grabbed Jimin’s hand once more. “Fine, I’ll stay with you… but just for tonight, alright?”

Maybe giving your fiance the night would give him a chance to calm down. Maybe your father would be so terrified of losing you, he wouldn’t force you to marry that dickbag. Maybe things would simply look brighter in the morning, and would give you the strength to face them both.

Jimin’s smirk widened and he started down the sidewalk once more. “Not far now.”

Jimin’s ‘ride’ turned out to be a motorcycle parked at the very end of the block. I looked down at my tight evening gown, the deep gold color glinting in the dim streetlight. Not exactly the outfit for a motorcycle ride.

“I have a spare helmet,” Jimin said, handing you a black helmet that matched the one he already had on.

“Gimme a minute.”

You reached down and grasped the fabric of your dress between your hands, tearing it away from your legs with a loud rip.

You didn’t miss the way Jimin gawked at your exposed legs. You reached behind you and took the pin holding your hair up out, shaking your curls loose. Jimin’s mouth parted open, causing a blush to swell beneath the skin of your cheeks. “I’ll take that helmet now,” you said playfully, taking it from his grasp and putting it on your head.

Jimin shook his head, closing his mouth. “R-Ready?”

“Yep,” you said as you snapped the clasps underneath your chin together.

You clambered on the back of the motorcycle, sliding your arms around Jimin’s firm torso, relishing in the way his breath hitched as you felt him up. The motorcycle started up with a stuttering roar, and you were off, the wind whipping through your clothes and over your skin, causing your eyes to water.

You didn’t dare close them, though, wanting to remember every second of what might be your last delicious moment of freedom. Jimin weaved between cars, going faster and faster. Your dress flew up, trailing behind the cycle in a wave of gold fabric, revealing more of your skin than you normally would have liked, but tonight? Tonight you didn’t give a damn.

Almost too soon, Jimin stopped in front of a grungy apartment building in a part of town your father or fiance likely wouldn’t dare step foot in. He propped his motorcycle up on its kickstand, and you climbed off of it, gratefully accepting the hand Jimin held out to you. You both took off your helmets, and you self-consciously tried to smooth down your hair at the same time Jimin ran a hand through his once more, combing the soft orange strands away from his face.

And, oh, what a gorgeous face it was. Besides his beautiful brown eyes, you took a moment to appreciate his smooth skin, his high cheekbones, and most of all, his full, pink lips that you longed to rub the pad of your thumb over.

Noticing your stare, Jimin tossed a smirk your way. “Enjoying the view?”

You looked away, a blush dusting your cheeks pink. “Is this where you live?”

“Yep. Come on, let’s go inside.”

Fifteen minutes later, you found yourself wrapped in a blanket, sitting on Jimin’s bed in his tiny studio apartment. He handed you a mug of steaming tea, which you took a sip from despite its hot temperature.

“Thanks,” you said.

“Any time.”

You both were quiet for a moment, sipping from your tea and staring at the kitchenette directly across from you. “Can I ask you something?” Jimin said suddenly.

“Sure.”

“Why were you even with that guy?”

“Who? My fiance?”

Jimin scoffed. “You’re engaged to that asshole?”

I hung my head. “Unfortunately, yes,” you muttered.

“Why? Why not break it off? You clearly know he’s not good for you.”

“Because reasons,” I sighed.

Jimin put a hand over yours. “Tell me.”

You looked up at the ceiling, focusing hard on the bumpy texture to keep the tears at bay. “Because I have to.”

“But you know you don’t, right?”

“You don’t understand. My father is a billionaire who practically owns half this city. Ever since I was little, I’ve been promised to this guy… he’s heir to a company that directly competes with my father’s company. If we marry, our families and companies join, and my father has been promised an extensive partnership with my fiance’s father that will double his assets. He wants to build an empire.”

Jimin’s gaze grew darker with each word. “And you can’t say no? You can’t just walk away?”

You swallowed hard. “I’ve been groomed for the role of perfect wife since I was a child… I have no skills, I’ve never been allowed to do anything for myself. Where would I go?”

“Here,” Jimin said forcefully. “You can stay here. I can help you get a job, teach you how to live in the real world.”

You shook your head. “He would find me. My father would find me and drag me back home. I’d be lucky if he didn’t keep me prisoner until my wedding.”

Jimin stood up and began pacing, striding back and forth, back and forth, over the wooden floor over his apartment. “I know people,” he finally said, looking at you. “People who can… get you a new identity. We might have to change your appearance a bit, but… it could work.”

Your furrowed your brow. “Why?” you whispered. “Why would you do all this for me? You said it yourself, we barely know each other.”

Jimin knelt down in front of you, enfolding your hands in between his. “Because no one deserves to be treated badly,” he said seriously.

That sincere, warm look was back in his eyes, drawing you in, hypnotizing you into a state of resolution. Determination flowed through you, making your blood boil and tingles to break out along your spine. For the first time in your life, you felt your rebellious spirit rise up and possess you, drawing out courage you didn’t even know you had.

You looked deep into Jimin’s eyes and nodded. “Fine,” you said. “We fight.”

Jimin’s full lips turned upward in a smile. “My two favorite words.”

Without warning, he leaned forward and pressed his lips against yours, causing you to stop breathing. The kiss lasted for only a few seconds, but to you, that kiss was your ticket to freedom. It helped you remember what you were fighting for every time life, your ex-fiance, or your father threw a wrench in your plans. It helped you remember exactly who you were, and how much power you held to change your life. It helped you find out what true love actually felt like.

But most importantly, It helped you remember that no matter what hell you were going through, you would do absolutely everything to just keep going.

A Note From Kutemouse: So I’m a slut for orange-haired Jimin. Yep. Thought you should know that.

Annnnnyways, so this didn’t exactly fulfill the request given, and for that I feel bad, believe me, I do… but I’m sorry, I just can’t write abusive Jimin 🥺 I know that’s a popular thing out there (last I checked, the number one Jimin story on Wattpad was an abusive Jimin au), but I can’t write it. I just can’t see Jimin ever, ever, ever hitting someone or being abusive ever, and writing any BTS member in that light makes me sick to my stomach.

So, once again, I apologize kutie anon. I hope this one-shot is good enough for you to forgive me 💜

Also, please do NOT follow Y/n’s example and hop on the back of some stranger’s motorcycle to go live with him. There are good people in this world like Jimin, but there are also a lot of sketch people. Be safe, use good judgment and common sense.

Love you all 💜
