i was gonna say "but wouldn't fugo have recognized sale?? and how did three members of this family wind up in the same mafia? did they all get kicked out?" but then it occurred to me that

1. fugo might not have been close with his brothers (maybe there was a big age gap)

2. i'm not certain fugo ever saw sale (and he definitely didn't interact with squalo)

3. it's hilarious to imagine the Fugos being such ass parents that every single one of their kids that left/got kicked out became a gang member

4. it makes sense that Fugo's parents put a lot of pressure on him because they'd already been through multiple "failure" kids before and wanted this one to be the perfect one

Honestly thinking about Fugo drives me up the goddamn wall sometimes like-- Like--

The gang were his family. He was with Buccellati the longest out of anyone, and he loved and admired him, and he helped bring the rest of the gang together, and he was such close friends with Mista and Narancia and they goofed off and did stupid teenage shit and choreographed little dances

And he'd grown so used to A. His boss being generally very sensible and caring for them all and B. His boss coming to him for advice

And then one day someone shows up and just... Takes over leadership basically entirely. Just. Has so much influence over the man who practically raised Fugo. And immediately starts directing him towards what is basically guaranteed death for at least some of them

When Fugo stays behind, digs his heels in and says "No, this is a bad idea, someone's going to get killed" don't you think he thinks, deep down, that Buccellati will listen to him? Will snap out of whatever rose-tinted glasses he's put on and take the advice of the person he's been relying on this whole time?

Because Fugo is smart, Fugo is rational, Fugo advises Buccellati and helps keep everyone safe, just as Buccellati helps Fugo not do anything impulsive out of anger. They know each-other and balance each-other and they TRUST each-other. And Fugo was looking for that trust. In that moment don't you think he expected that Buccellati would trust him?

And instead he gets left behind on the shore basically without a second thought. Just. "Okay. We won't force you. Bye." From his best friends. From the man that has been with him since he was a lost, scared little kid in need of a home. Even the boy he rescued from the goddamn streets leaves him behind, not for a noble cause, but for the sake of a girl they just met.

And Fugo was RIGHT, he was correct, they did die, his best friend died, his father figure died. Only One Of his actual friends survived.

There's no triumph in that though. No I-Told-You-So. It's just guilt because he could've saved them. If he hadn't assumed that they'd listen to him, and cared for his input. If he'd somehow known that he was that dispensable and could be left behind without a second thought. He could've gone with and literally just stood in the same room as Diavolo and killed him. Everyone else could stay outside.

Only one of them really had to die for everything to resolve, and that one was Fugo.

Why do you think he was so eager to go rushing to his death for the sake of what little remains of his family in Purple Haze Feedback.

A: Couldn't decide which palette I wanted to use. I felt I'd been using Bluego too much but didn't know which other one I should use instead, so I just tried them all. Ps2go is growing on me

2. You forgot x on Bucciarati/Abbacchio/Fugo

A: I drew them mostly from memory, and once I actually started looking at references I was already past the point of redrawing stuff so I gave up. I hope you can forgive my laziness.

3. Did you notice that you Fustop Fuwait Fugo'd him?

how dare you not want to drink the greater good juice, fugo. what? hell, no one else wanted to drink the juice either-- excluding Bucciarati and Giorno, no one's motives for going were "the betterment of the community". Trish didn't have a choice in being involved (I believe wholeheartedly that she would've done the same thing Fugo did, if she wasn't the whole reason this was all happening and/or knocked out at the time of the traitor boat conversation), Mista went for the novelty of it (if we're to take what he says at face value), Abbacchio went because Bruno, and Narancia went because Narancia is Trish. No one was 100% going because of Trish anyway (except for Trish and Trish 2)

Anyway no one had any reason to be mad at him and I will die on this hill. distrust him, sure, that's fine, that makes sense. but be mad at him? for what? actually taking bucciarati up on his word?

ALSO as a note, Fugo *would* sacrifice himself for the sake of others too, as seen in the Mirror World--it was a situation in which that was his *only choice* to protect others. He chose death over ratting on his friends.

Fugo's not a coward, he's just bewildered by the fact that, in the scenario where everyone *had a choice* to remain safe, they all chose to endanger their lives and family for "some girl they just met" instead.

It sounds petty, but who was our torture dance trio? Who bought a radio and bugged Mista with loud music? Who had headphones on in the restaurant where we met the team?

They knew each other's taste in music. The torture dance soundtrack is called Canzoni Preferite -> literally "Favourite Songs." They were a family.

So I went into to Purple Haze Feedback with a pretty good idea of what Fugo behaved like in it. However I was utterly unprepared for how autistic coded he comes off as. I mean, it might be stereotypical, but PHF does a pretty good job of setting him up as this socially inept genius .

He experiences bizarre epiphanies like the following:

1. When someone is mean to you, you might not like them

2. Women have thoughts and feelings

3. It's hard to understand someone who's experienced something you've never experienced no matter how smart you are

4. Empathy is real

5. There are different kinds of intelligence (and social intelligence is definitely not the kind he has)

And like. there's an in-story reason that he's so socially useless. He never interacted with people his age as a child, and was kind of thrown into the adult world wherever he went and expected to keep up. Clearly no one bothered teaching him to manage his own emotions, let alone the emotions of others. Even Fugo doesn't perceive himself as a kid. How is he supposed to manage a world he never learned to be part of without wanting to tear his hair out in frustration?

But it's still funny to think that's he's just the world's most autistic gang member (maybe second to Giorno, who is also very autism coded)

I like making fun of him. Where is that 152 IQ even going. He's so idiotcore cringefail ragemaxxing.
