Steve: You love the pink ones.
Robin: I love the color pink. But I like the chocolate macarons. Steveee! I've already said I wanted these two.
Steve: No. You can't have two.
Robin: But I said...
Steve: You had three this morning.
Robin: I have not!
Steve: Downstairs. I saw you.
Robin: I've had one!
Steve: Not true. Eddie saw you. You’re lying. Why are you lying?
Robin: I am not lying. You are. Eddie!
Eddie: What? I like the chocolate ones as well. I have not had...
Robin: I wanted them!
Steve: I have the solution.
Nancy: Put them back. Stop.
Eddie: Why are you getting involved?
Nancy: Can you not just divide them?
Steve: ...three chocolate this morning!
Robin: I have not! I haven't had...
Nancy: Three banana macarons for the one chocolate.
Robin: Not a chance.
Eddie: That is devious.
Steve: That's very unreasonable.
Eddie: Please!
Steve: Why not? Eddie, you cannot... Why are you getting involved?

Listen I’m not saying the Percy jackson books are better then Harry Potter (even while ignoring authors). But like if you were to ask me what my favorite thing about Percy jackson is I would probably be like “ percabeth” or like “Apollo being a whiny bitch” or even like “ Reyna defeating local incel”. If you asked me my favorite thing about Harry Potter I would be like “Harry defeating the dragon” and you be like “oh yeah the broom stick shit” and I wouldn’t be listening you cause “you never asked to be a dragon, I never asked to be a champion”
That’s funny.
Chris didn’t remember putting on a yellow Speedo this morning…

This will go amazing with my bathtub that is just full of eyeballs

I don't think you understand how much I NEED a Dead Boy Detectives Clue board game in my life. Like I need netflix to make one with hasbro right fucking now. Like there's a freaking Squishmallow clue, we can definitely have a dbda one too

Bruce googling “Top Ten Clues Your Teammates Know Your Secret Identity” There was that post going around about members of the justice league playing “fuck, marry, kill” with Bruce Wayne in the mix, and, well.
Fascinating how in a novel told only through written (or transcripted audio recording) communication, so much happens because of a failure to communicate. I know this is nothing new and we've been saying it for weeks, but it really is tragic...
Mina doesn't tell Lucy about what she has seen her do, because she doesn't want to add to her stress and make the sleepwalking worse
Lucy's mother doesn't tell Lucy about her illness, because she doesn't want to intrude on her happiness before the wedding
Mina doesn't tell Lucy's mother about Lucy's sleepwalking, because she doesn't want to make her illness worse
Lucy doesn't tell Mina about the full extent of what she remembers or feels, because she doesn't want to believe it is anything more than bad dreams or pre-wedding stress
Jonathan doesn't tell Mina about what happened to him, because he wants to leave it in the past and prefers to imagine he was just crazed than to have to confront if it was true
The reason for every single miscommunication, or rather failed communication, is the same. It's always about love. Their deep care for and desire to protect one another are exactly the things that end up putting themselves in danger longer.
This latest example is the crowning jewel of all of that, because... it's so so explicitly driven by love. Jonathan doesn't hide the truth from Mina. Instead he gives her the opportunity to learn everything, but asks her not to.
Him giving her that choice, and her choosing to respect his wishes by sealing up the journal - with her wedding ring, calling it her wedding present - is one of the most beautiful expressions of trust and love so far in this whole book. Not even just that; they show so much respect for one another here. It turns what could have been just straightforward Jonathan hiding information away into instead the two of them sharing a secret, or rather sharing a wilful ignorance of a secret, together.
And, fittingly with the building trend of everyone's care being used against them, this is the worst omission yet. If Mina read his journal, if she told Jonathan what has been happening to Lucy, if they talked about all their fears and stresses, they would realize what's been happening. They could try to stop it sooner.
But because Jonathan wants to leave it all behind, and because Mina is trying to support him and do the same by not worrying him when he's still recovering, Lucy continues to be deeply vulnerable.
Dracula, whose 'love' is a twisted and violent perversion that changes and corrupts the recipient's very nature. Dracula, who thrives on manipulating and abusing any expression of trust or vulnerability, who enjoyed and went out of his way to keep lying to Jonathan long past when it was necessary. Dracula, whose very presence in the story serves to twist all these well-meant secrets born of love and trust into incredibly ironic and dangerous failures.
Dracula is free to feed.
orders and gods and stuff
Everything needs order. It might not always work, but it makes people more civilized and more synchronized. It's teamwork that can have people be much more efficient in their duties because of sharing and stuff. Not to mention I guess, while a bunch of deities are cool and all, some people would prefer this one main person whose all important. Or as like, the main face, the.. I can't remember what they're called. Poster boy?
Point is, if people look at Greek mythology but are a newbie, they'll at least know of Zeus, and point out Zeus as a god. So on and so on.
Or people looking at Egyptian mythology from an outsider perspective might think of Ra first, as the big ol' important sun god.
I mean, nearly everyone, even if they don't believe in Christianity, or have even touched a bible know of God. (..and Jesus Christ)
Or Buddhism with the Buddha.
Also the family tree stuff probably made it more.. human? People being related to people. I don't really know, but since back then people would know that they were born via their parents, then it would only be logical to have that explanation be added to the gods as well, it just means that their parents might've been a whole lot more. well. more.
It likely would've made sense in their eyes (they'd literally just be blank slates otherwise, because certain parts of the body are meant for well, childbirth, or well, the chest being to feed, y'know), and not to mention their own thoughts on animals and why they do certain things, likely leading to similar explanations would explain similar supernatural creatures. Certain animals if I recall that right can actually notice certain things, like signs of danger faster then humans. There's that one I think bird that would go down to the mines with people, and I think if it died then it would tell people there was poison early, giving them enough warning to leave. Or like.. animals, like maybe dogs, I can't remember the story but it was something about them noticing like early signs of an earthquake or something and saving their owner.
Or good old coincidences that could make people think of animals as otherworldly, or something.
It just gave order to it, organizing it in a way that made sense, and like a logical thing.
On that line of thinking, I think I understand why people think of gods and all that stuff. There's a game called Detroit: Become Human, where you play as three androids who have the potential to become a deviant, or basically go against their programming. Having feelings, and wanting to be free (there's a lot of dark themes, but it's a game that is defined by your choices. Endings differ vastly.) Getting back on topic, there's this, well, 'god' they worshipped. Or some of the deviants, I mean. RA9. The story is that they were basically this android, their 'savior' that was gonna save them all or something.
Nobody knows who RA9 is, but still that idea flourished, and many deviants shared the same idea (it could be that they shared this idea with others). The first time we even see any mention of RA9 is for like some worshipping thing. As far as I'm aware, there's been no actual explanations as to how it happened.
The point is, it just ended up becoming this point of worship, something that gave them hope. That RA9 will come for them and save them (it's thought that Markus was RA9 because that's the role he can end up playing, but it's genuinely all by chance that he even stumbles on that chance to do such). And while it is just a game, it's a little fascinating, that this idea can spread and be shared, something to be believed even if there might not have actually been any proof of their existence.
I was honestly just watching a 5-year anniversary playthrough, and staring at the idea of RA9 with new eyes, or well new 'lenses', I'm understanding it a lot more (that game won't ever get old to me).
future me here. i genuinely dont remember what the question was, but for summer school the teacher gave you discussion assignments so youd be given a question to answer. i always wrote LONG answers with plenty of paragraphs.
oh zayn you like country music?

people have made headcanons that Ellie, or Joel, finds a stuffed giraffe and she is obsessed with it. I absolutely love that headcanon! I started playing the game again to get all the achievements (I think we're almost there :)) and because of this, I've noticed more of the small background pieces. there's a giraffe plush that just shows up. I do not have any screenshots, but I can definitely go through and get them at some point!
the first one is when Joel and Tess are trying to find Robert. right before you go down an alley, there's a bulletin board with a bunch of wanted posters on it, right? there's a kid near it who's playing with a giraffe plush!
also when Ellie runs to that ranch, there's another one! obviously you can explore that house a bit, I think there's a bigger giraffe plush in one of the rooms. I don't remember which one, but it's a tall boy and it's next to a desk and window!
don't know if there's anymore for the first game because I haven't finished it yet, but there's also one in the second game! at least one. the weed house. right before Dina and Ellie find the basement, one of the shelves in the backrooms has a little giraffe plush on it!
I don't know why, but I love this little detail SO MUCH. will update if there's anymore :)
edit: here's the post for all the ones I found in the first game :)
Okay, that 'how you got here?' poll has got me curious.
Then put how you got here in the tags.
I'm realizing that, although these things may be unrelated, the number of ads I get for colleges has decreased and the number of ads I get for redbull and dating apps has increased
