Hey tumblr peeps! Sageshell here and I'm finally uploading some of my work here! Been working on some OC's and a story to go with them lately. I'm more of an artist than a writer so the story will take some time to manifest (if ever to be honest). Heck, the title might change too, not that satisfied with it. So for now, I'll most likely draw character building moments between my OCs instead of written work here on tumblr.
So, introducing Bryn, a fairy who specializes in brewing magical potions. And Kayde, an ex-knight turned ranger/body guard for hire. I'll be uploading bios and more on the story sometime soon.

Here's are some bios on the main characters for my silly little story that might see the light of day lol! I also added additional info on them here at the bottom.
Bryn
Bryn is a potion brewer, helping to run the family owned potion shop in her village called Petalvine that is hidden deep in the enchanted forest. She used to re-side in another village when she was younger with her parents, but a group of humans raided their village and burned it to the ground. Many fairies lost their lives, including her parents. But oddly enough, another human singled her out and saved her from her parent’s fate. So, growing up, the rest of the fairies that survived grew to fear/despise humans. But Bryn, also fearful of humans as well, is intrigued by them, considering one went out of their way to save her. She would like to think not all of them are murderous monsters.
Kayde
Kayde is a Ranger/ body guard for hire that roams the country side in search of his next job. He used to be a knight of the royal court of Caershire but he left after finding out how corrupt and violent it ended up becoming. Now he has no place to call home, but has become accustomed to constant travel and residing in the countryside. To make up for his violent past serving the royal court, he goes out of his way to help others in need with body guard work and acts of vigilantism. He doesn’t like to talk about his past (his childhood) and keeps it a mystery, no one knows why…
Here's one of the first drawings I did of Bryn and Kayde. Honestly can't remember when I drew this but just now dug it up. I just now realized I gave Kayde the "Eric from the Little Mermaid" fit lol! The story I'm developing is slightly inspired by the little mermaid and hints of Ferngully so it was probably a subconscious decision (I'm sure you guys picked up on this too).
I'm terrible at backgrounds so here's a nice gradient for you guys to ogle at. I'm hoping when I have time to develop the comic, it'll be an effective way to develop my background rendering skills. Here's hoping!

Thought I'd finally take a stab at a background. Maybe one day I'll color it in when I have time and know what I'm doing. Here's Bryn and Kayde's first meeting. Bryn was tasked to venture out into the forest and find a medicinal herb for an ailing villager in Petal Vine. But she encounters a ferocious beast and is chased down and eventually injured. But Kayde comes in at the last minute and saves the day.
When Kayde gets in the "zone" (fighting in a battle), he can come off as pretty intense. A carry over from his knight hood days. Unfortunately for Bryn, being caught in the middle of the action, becomes a little over-whelmed and she passes out. Poor Kayde now has to figure out what to do with an unconscious fairy

(Trigger warning, there is some slight swearing and blood in a few of these drawings. Not sure if these are allowed, let me know if this is an issue.)
Here's the next part of these two meeting for the first time. Kayde took Bryn to his temporary residence after fighting the creature that attacked Bryn, a somewhat cozy cave deep in the woods, the ultimate bachelor pad. But probably a little jarring to wake up to after being rendered unconscious.
At least Kayde was nice enough to go out and bring them back some dinner. Unfortunately, Kayde isn't used to bringing guests over and etiquette isnt his strong suit. Never really crossed his mind that being covered in blood and guts would come off as offensive and quite terrifying.
Added more to the cast of characters for my story. We got Aunt Poppy and Vivielle. More will be added in the near future!
Aunt Poppy
Poppy is an experienced potion brewer that provides medicine and tonics for Petalvine village. She took in Bryn when she was young when her parents died. She raised her like a daughter and when she was old enough, made her her apprentice in potion brewing. After the death of her only sister to the humans, Poppy harbors a strong hatred of humans. Even the mere mention of humans sends her into a rage. But Poppy tries to lead a peaceful life with her small family, tending to the sick with her potions and hosting a party here and there.
Vivielle
Vivielle is the only child of Poppy. Because of this, she's a little sheltered since Poppy is over protective. But she's still very sweet and curious of the world around her. She gets along very well with Bryn, even considering her as a sister than a cousin. She's some of the very few fairies that can communicate with animals, bugs being her favorite to converse with. Since she's still too young to fly, she has her bug friends fly her around.
Just some cutesy drawings I did of Bryn and Kayde. Kayde is definitely more of the flirt and would make the first move, taking Bryn delightfully by surprise.
