The World Economic Forum is a (self-anointed) global thought leader on politics, sustainability, innovation and equality.
In fact, I actually know the World Economic Forum quite well, I’ve worked with them professionally dozens of times; we’ve collaborated on important projects, we’ve shaken hands, sat around tables and pretended to laugh at each other’s jokes. I’ve even scaled the icy mountains of Switzerland to spend the week documenting the ultra-VIP Davos conference.
Their Global Gender Gap Report is a highly anticipated and respected annual barometer for how the world is doing on its meandering journey toward equality. But with no sense of irony, the report’s methodology is itself, systemically sexist.
So, let’s turn the beady eye of equality onto those pointing the finger, is the GGGR sexist and how?
It’s time to say GG, to the GGGR

I have to say, I agree with a lot of this.
So let me get this straight…
CatDog, has a full episode in which the main characters go to a butt store to consider buying new butts, perfectly okay.

Ren and Stimpy, a show that had multiple scenes and sometimes entire episodes centered around butts, no one objects to it.

SpongeBob Squarepants, a show that has several butt jokes, multiple nude scenes, and several episodes in which the title character spends the majority of them in the nude, no one bats an eye.

There is an entire series aimed at kids called The Day My Butt Went Pyscho about a boy and his butt battling evil butts. No complaints at all.

Ice Cream shop logo that features a female cow character sticking out her butt.

“AHHH! GET THAT OUT OF THE STORE! KIDS SHOULDN’T SEE BUTTS! KIDS DON’T EVEN KNOW BUTTS EXIST! HOW DARE YOU EXPOSE THE CHILDREN OF AMERICA TO CARTOON BUTTS! WON’T SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN?!”
I’m just saying, don’t you consider it odd that whenever the public sees male butts they think it’s comical but whenever they see female butts they automatically assume it’s sexual. Think about that folks.
Can we take a moment to address the fact that fat people aren't allowed to have a type or taste unless it's other fat people?
If a person with an "acceptable" body type (thin, midsized or muscular) is typically most attracted to another one of these "acceptable" varieties of body that isn't their own... for example a thin person having a type for muscular people... it's normal.
It's just a preference, right?
If anyone with one of those "acceptable" body types listed above is attracted to fat people, it can either be seen as odd or cute. Toxic attitudes towards it range from:
"Aw, I love that you look for personality!" to "Seriously? Look at you! You could do so much better, don't settle for less!" to "Good for you, giving them a chance anyway!"
Even if some of that sounds positive, it's all horribly fatphobic. Not healthy. Not equal. Yet, for the most part, being attracted to fat people when you aren't fat yourself isn't seen as a huge issue or really discussed at all. People might just tell you that you're selling yourself short or have bad taste.
BUT.
If you're fat, all those rules change.
Into muscular builds? Skinny bodies? Midsized frames?
"That's not fair, how do you expect him to stay in shape and be sexy for you when you don't even try to take care of yourself? You would swallow him. He deserves someone who keeps themselves as trim as he is. You should be with someone more your size."
Just because I'm fat, that doesn't mean I suddenly lose all capacity for taste as to what I'd prefer my partner to look like. I'm not less worthy of having a partner I'm attracted to. I don't deserve less say or lose rights to my opinions because of my body type.
I'm attracted to skinny men. That's my type.
That doesn't mean I wouldn't go out with a fat guy or a muscular guy or a midsized guy. Doesn't mean I think fat guys are ugly or muscular men are gross. I'm generally not particularly inclined to other builds rather than thin ones, but if he was sweet to me and checked all my boxes, I would totally go out with him! Without hesitation! Despite his body type.
No one is ugly for their appearance. "Ugly" is something inside you. I don't think that shallow. Fatphobes? They're who's truly ugly.
And racists, sexists, punkphobes, etc.
But still... generally... I have a preference.
It was okay for you.
Why not for me?
the demonization of the needy continues... because not like the insanely wealthy could actually fucking save a lot of people or anything...

Mandating profit-sharing would probably be so much more effective than minimum wage laws.

"All my homies think capitalism sucks"

This is actually really cool. Just yesterday in my US history class we were talking about opportunity over equality and how America was founded on that concept. I have great respect for Marxist communism and so this concept seemed a little unfair to me, but I guess I wasn't fully aware of the whole equal opportunity thing. The American dream of social mobility is quite amazing and I really like this video. I'd be curious to see how the numbers work if you're born elsewhere. Assuming the different groups are meant to be split equally by population (which we all know is not true and that causes quite a large problem) does that mean someone from the top has an equal chance of ending up at the bottom? What about the middle class? Now we know that isn't true because people born into higher income have a better chance of completing high school and can afford college and even graduate school. Id be really interested to see the distribution from all sides. Do black Americans born at the top have a likelihood of ending up at the bottom? What about middle class high school drop outs? What about children of gay parents or even better gay youth. If someone knows of a source which elaborates on this concept id love to look into it.
This was extremely useful and interesting.

These tragedies are why we need voices

Homeless People Read Mean Tweets About Themselves To End Stereotypes
When celebrities read mean tweets about themselves, it’s funny. When homeless people do it, it’s heartbreaking.
In a powerful PSA by Canadian advocacy group Raising the Roof, people who are dealing with homelessness read actual tweets written about those living without stable shelter. See all of the emotional reactions here.

In Response to...
Racism, Homophobia, Discrimination, Misogyny, Inequality,
My voice will join the voices of all the others who speak out against these issues. You cannot make me keep my mouth shut. But I have to ask a question. Why, when we are all human, do we stand against each other in the first place? No group is inherently better than another. No one person is inherently more important than another. No reasonable opinion is inherently wrong. These are all social constructs. In order to fix these issues, society must change. In order to fix society, people’s hearts must change. In order to fix people’s hearts ... well, there’s not much we can do. What we can do is show kindness, show love.
That being said, I encourage you, in recognition of every protest throughout history that stood against oppression and inequality, spread love, not hate.
That's hardly a certainty. Dollar dominance allows the US to sustain a huge imbalance of imports, which helps keep the treats flowing to the ruling class. If the stream of exploitated foreign workers dries up, the next place the ruling class will look is to intensify the exploitation of domestic workers. The economic turmoil from the US losing its hegemony might present an opportunity to advance workers' rights, but it sure as hell doesn't guarantee that it will happen.

"We could do it forever" says Michael O'Hanlon of the Brookings Institution, "it's not economically unsustainable, but it's probably politically unsustainable."
Sickening words from Brookings Institution Political Elites who think wasting $113 Billion is a great deal for Americans, even as the govt offers only $700 a person to the handful of survivors of the Lahaina Wildfires, even after losing their homes, cars, jobs, pets, personal and sentimental items, and even their entire families. It was yet another easily preventable, predictable disaster our government did nothing to prevent, and is actively opening the door to giant corporations to rape the resources of Maui and use the disaster to gentrify the island and displace Working Class Natives.
Meanwhile, our fully corrupt Political Elite brag about the destruction of Ukraine, claiming it's the best deal in history to have tens of thousands of Ukrainians dying so America can weaken its adversary Russia.
However, anyone taking one look at the current Geopolitical situation can see the rise of a Multipolar world, with rising Powers aligning to undermine US imperialism.
As these BRICS countries and their allies integrate economically, and as that integration increasingly degrades US Dollar dominance, US debts will begin to result in stubbornly high inflation that cannot be stifled using Washington's traditional tools of raising interest rates and stifling Working and Middle Class demand.
The American people will take the hit as Political Elites in the US refuse to subsidize Workers, guarantee them jobs, or raise the minimum wage to keep up with inflation.
But in the long run, this is good even for US Workers. The degradation of US Dollar dominance will mean US legislators will eventually have to begin to live within their means. Profligate spending on Military bases all across the globe and maintaining Global Empire will become next to impossible, and money can begin to return to the US to be invested at home instead of for foreign wars that only help US Capitalist Elites at the expense of Working people.

this is america
this is something I've felt since childhood and never been able to articulate.

Quote from Richard Rohr with a personal reflection at the end.

If I was born a girl, I wouldn’t be where I am in life today simply because a boy and a girl child are treated differently in my society. One of the reasons for this bias is “RAJA BETA SYNDROME” An interesting-sounding phrase that I stumbled upon last year while reading an article by @shethepeopletv The Raja Beta Syndrome in simple words is an Indian mother’s inability to see anything wrong with their sons. @shethepeopletv This privilege, this inequality is only breeding entitled and irresponsible men - This artwork is an awareness piece for that cancerous syndrome. #rajabetasyndrome #inequality #shethepeople #equality #change #awareness #syndrome #india #design #poster #graphicdesign #lettering #digitalart #devnagri #typeart # typography #typespire #silentsage (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/CUzh6QOv58E/?utm_medium=tumblr
