a/n 2: i heard a podcast and it made me want to write this fic because the love story of the two hosts was sooo damn cutee.

You knew Jeonghan from when you were literally a kid.
His father had moved to your city after a presentation from little Jeonghan on how to make a pocketknife using ice cream sticks that he learnt from his local friends, his mother mortified that her little sweet child would grow up to become a goon forced his father to change cities to go as far away from the place they physically could.
It was during his fathers pursuit for a stable Korean community in Canada’s ever-growing cities did he come across the name of your grandfather’s in the phonebook that sounded very much similar to his. Your grandfather being the trusting and kind man he was invited his father for a dinner in his house the following day and this event kickstarted a relationship between the two families wherein, his father bought a house six minutes away from yours in the small part of your city inhabited by mostly Asians.
You both had met when he was seven and you were only three, he still remembers babysitting you when you were in middle school as your parents trusted no one more than him. So, when he broke the beautiful glass table in your living room, he had skillfully blamed you resulting in a three-hour long lecture from your parents about taking care of ones possessions.
You hated Jeonghan then, you really did, so you refused to talk to him for the next almost five years.
Until you both found yourselves in a duet dance opposite to each other because it was the neighborhood talent show and it was mandatory for the kids to participate. Typical Asian parents.
To no ones surprise your dance number got a tad bit too much hype from the watchers and it kickstarted another full year of you both not talking to each other at all because of the teasing glances and suggestive remarks from adults and children alike.
The time you both talked to each other again was when it was you senior year prom at high school and your father being the overprotective man he was, did not allow you to go because according to him ‘prom is how American kids end up getting pregnant.’
He was wrong of course; kids get pregnant due to having sex but you being the soft-spoken kid you were did not have the gal to inform him that. You would rather spend the night being sad and watching Simpsons and crying about how unfair it is for your parents to not let you go and experience the night considered to rank number one in peak American high school experience.
This was the first time you saw Jeonghan as your lord and savior, which you obviously will never tell him because it will do nothing but fuel his over-the-top ego. But that day he had stepped in and talked to you father.
“It’s an experience and everyone should be able to experience it, I think you are wrong sir to take away this from your daughter,” he had oh so righteously said.
“Son, I would let her only if you take her, as I don’t trust anyone but you with my daughter.”
“So, I shall then.”
Now did this conversation shock you? Yes, it did especially your father’s response to Jeonghan, but you were not going to stir up any feminist conversation with your father right now, not when you just got the pass to go to prom.
That night was something you barely remember; it has been twenty years since then and you barely care about the overly hyped kids and the future alcoholics that you encountered that night. Now that you are wise and older, you understand your parents concern. Suzy from you class had become a mother at the prime age of eighteen, nine months later. You are thankful that your father made the wise choice for you that day.
That night from what you remember was just plain boring, you had come back at 11 to a quite house, had talked to the boy for the entirety of the night, watched the sunrise with him and at the end had hugged him thanking him for taking you to prom.
After that incident, you both had again gone onto your own ways and had not talked to each other for another year till the next family function, where you both were the only kids of the same age present as all your other friends were out of the country for college.
That weekend had sparked a friendship between you both, as you always stuck to each other’s side seeking comfort from one another as talking to anyone else somehow always circled back to your marriage and their extreme concern for your depleting eggs.
The friendship you both wove lasted a long while, throughout your college. Till one day you come back from a trip to Daegu, and he was there standing at the airport ready to rush you away from your family to the nearest Starbucks because he had some news for you.
Once in the café he informed you that he had landed the job he had been trying for right after finishing college. You were elated for him, so happy that you almost forgot to tell him about the potential marriage partner your parents had whipped up during your two-week-long stay there.
Jeonghan being the man he was asked you up front to marry him, confessing his hidden feeling for you and how the weight of them might have just decreased his height. Dramatic bitch.
You being brough back to reality told him no and stated the reason to be man you could have potentially married. He obviously told you to say no to this unknown ‘son of a bitch’ and accept his proposal.
So being the bigger person, because Jeonghan obviously refused to, you reminded him that you had never dated anyone let alone him and you will not marry a man you have not dated.
This conversation then ignited your relationship the first step of which was turning down the said ‘son of a bitch’ while telling your father you wanted to focus on your career more, which you really did. Fast forward six months and while keeping up the long-distance relation with frequent phone calls late at night because your parents might pick up the landline and eavesdrop if its during the day, while at the same time trying to search for a job near Boston went on.
On one late Sunday afternoon as you were sitting on the kitchen island sipping on coffee you got an email from on of the companies, you had given an interview to, informing you had gotten an onsite job that would require you to move to Cambridge, and you were over the moon.
So, the preparations began for your send off and again Jeonghan stepped in like the messiah he is. He is absolutely not one, you refuse to accept. The man went ahead and told your conservative father he will give up his life to take care of you, till this date you claim it will be the opposite if a situation like that befalls you both. After packing your bags, you were on your merry way to live with the man.
It took you both some time to adjust to the new settings he would be over at your place during the weekends and sometimes you would be at his. This continued for another year or so before one night as you both were laying on the bed together when Jeonghan suddenly piped up.
“I think you should see other people.”
Not understanding what he meant you turned towards the guy and asked, “what do you mean?”
“I know we will end up marrying each other, so I want you to experience dating other men too, so you don’t get to ever claim I was the only guy in your life,” he explained to you.
You had yet to get a taste of exactly how much of a cocky motherfucker you are dating, said innocently.
“But Jeonghan you are the only guy I ever dated.”
That was the end of that conversation that night before you both went to sleep, but his urging never stopped. It went on for a few days till one day your exhausted and a tad bit insecure self, lashed out at him claiming he wanted to cheat on you, and he wanted a break. So, you gave one to him.
That entire year you had a flower bouquet delivered early morning to your house with an apology letter, although the apologies lasted only for a month before you forgave the terrified man, who apologized profusely after you accepted to talk to him. Even though you did feel a bit bad after seeing him, the guy looked like he was living during the great depression.
After that all was smooth sailing and he never ever tried to upset you at all, but his playful nature persisted anyways, not like you minded that.
Five years later during your sister’s wedding in Singapore was when his proposal was finally accepted. You had just arrived at the airport and yet again the man had swooped in and taken you away from your family under the guise of some kind of sound check that was needed to be done in the wedding venue.
Your clueless self agreed to go with him and without a second thought he took you to the cables to take you to an island that was nowhere close to the wedding venue. As you were getting increasingly confused, you kept asking him where exactly you both were going. He kept deflecting the topic, so you ultimately gave up and, as another family came up on the cable car, you started talking about your flight that you took with your family. The poor man did not hear one word, he was sweating bullocks and was essentially confused why another family was in the cable car that he had fully booked for you both.
As the family got down at the end, he stopped you from doing so too claiming it is not the stop, even though it was the last one. It was then the nervous wreck of a man got down on one knee in front of asking for your hand in marriage once again, and you being so in love with him accepted to spend the rest of your life with the man.
The rest of it was history, you both had to tell your parents none of whom were shocked at all, rather relieved that you both had at last agreed to get married and be together forever.
Now ten years later and with your two children, you are perfectly content with your life. Waking up with Jeonghan beside you everyday sounds like a dream and you are happy it came true for you.
As you tossed around the bed you saw Jeonghan eyeing you in his half-awake state.
“What are you thinking about?” he asks.
“Us,” you answer snuggling closer to him.
“What about us, huh?”
“The way you forced me to date some other guy because you wanted me to have more experience in dating,” you laughed at the memory.
“Don’t tell me about that it still haunts me till this day” he retorts with a shudder.
“Why did you do it anyways?” you ask.
“I knew I was going to marry you so I wanted you to have some more experience with dating others so whenever you have an argument I could say ‘hey remember that looser you dated!’”, he answers with laugh.
With a laugh you slapped his shoulder exclaiming, “I sometimes forget how cocky you can get!”
"How else do you think I got the permission to propose you in someone else's marriage!" he states sassily.
With that Jeonghan snuggles closer to you some more, its Sundays anyways the kids are with their grandparents and you both have all the time in the world to just bask in each other’s presence and not do anything at all.

Everyone at the office knew that Jeonghan was a free spirit, he worked hard and partied even harder. He like living his life in the most happening way possible. Be it weekend trips, bike trips to the mountains or staying in the countryside for a week and working remote while enjoying the serenity that comes with it, he was down for anything.
Funnily enough he was referred to as the least energetic person in his friend group. So, one can imagine overzealous they normally were.
His work more often than not was impeccable, no one could fault him at all. The rising star of the corporate world they called him at the office. In his five years at the job the man had garnered more approval than anyone else.
He liked his life, and he would not trade it for anything else.
Now, unlike Jeonghan you resided on the other side of the spectrum. Your kind of life was pretty monotonous waking up before your alarm, making your bed, skipping meals, and surviving on coffee, reaching, and leaving work on the dot and crying while rewatching your favorite shows, was your kind of life. You like staying in during the weekends and cleaning up the mess you make in your living space during the weekdays and trying everything in your power to not upset your cat while doing so.
Its calm, chill, maybe a bit boring but it worked for you and brought you peace.
You were the newest recruit in your office and from the first day you captured the attention of most of your coworkers for your meticulous and polite words.
More often than not you refuse to talk to your coworkers ensuring that there stays a professional boundary between you all and if they would not catch onto your behavior, you would politely decline them.
Never that interested in networking, you refuse to talk to more people than you need to.
Jeonghan caught onto it pretty early, but why did it matter to him what you did, so like everyone else he went on his own way and simply chose to ignore you.
Ten months into your new job was when you first had a real conversation with the man. It was pretty late at night, both of you had to stay back for overtime. That was when you saw him struggling with his presentation for the next day’s meeting.
That day you broke the ‘no talking to my coworkers rule unless and until it’s very important’ rule.
“what’s the problem?” you politely asked the man.
“Oh, I am having slight problem with the numbers here,” the man replies looking visibly confused and surprised.
“If you want, I can help you out” you kindly stated as Jeonghan casually just turned his laptop towards you.
So, for the next one and half hours you both sat there and diligently worked on the presentation and by the end of it the material looked rather good and presentation worthy.
Looking extremely grateful the pretty man said, “I am so thankful you helped me out today, so why don’t I repay you by dropping you off at your house, it’s pretty late you know.”
Looking at your watch you politely replied, “no worries, plus if I rush a bit, I can catch the last bus home so please don’t bother.”
Jeonghan looked bummed at this, but he was obliged nonetheless as he knew you to be an introverted lady and he did not want to make you uncomfortable.
--
The next time you and Jeonghan had a conversation, was again at a night when you both were staying at the office over time. By this time, you have become pretty comfortable with each other, not enough to hold a conversation but enough to spare a quick nod and a smile while passing by each other’s cubicles.
He was done with the day’s work and was about to leave the office when he noticed you hunched over your laptop looking frustratingly at your screen which showed you an open excel sheet with infinite numbers.
Feeling like he owed you the help, Jeonghan strode towards you and calmly said “let me see.”
Jumping in shock you looked at him and replied, “oh no don’t bother I can figure it out you should go home it’s pretty late you know.”
Tsking at your reply he grabbed a chair to sit beside you while saying “it’s only fair, you helped me out so I should help you now.”
You let him, in actuality you needed that little help from him, the data entries were annoying you and you absolutely did not like it one bit.
Just like that time passed by again resulting in the clock to show that it was quarter past one by the time you both were done.
This time though Jeonghan shut down all your protests to go about his own way and your reluctance to inconvenience him with a simple “it’s pretty late and I won’t let you get followed by some creeps on the road plus the last bus is gone anyways so you are coming with me.”
On the way he stopped at a convenience store to get some dinner for you both and you devoured your ramen while chatting with him.
You both were pretty similar, in some cases for example you both had this extreme love for Legos that existed beyond measurable amounts, both of you loved your pets to death, albeit his was a rock and yours was a cat, but as he said “we don’t discriminate peoples pets here, they can have what they want to but given its legal and safe for the pet.”
On the other hand, Jeonghan liked you too, he was happy he could be the first one to break your shell to meet the real you and he was proud of this. It was close to an achievement for him.

“Han like this new chick in his office.”
Joshua loudly announced to the group of boys sprawled in his living room one evening. Jeonghan’s friends had come to his house to hang out and to get drunk out of their wits to forget the stress of the tedious weekend they had. They were all friends from college, now working jobs in the most contrasting industries ever like Seungcheol was the manager for their states football club and Soonyoung was a choreographer working with famous celebrities, Hansol on the other hand was the proud of a pet shelter and the one and only Joshua was an English history professor who most days worked overtime at the university. But at the end of the day, they were all the loud and obnoxious assholes he knew and loved from his younger days, and nothing could compare to that.
“Really you never told us about this one hyung?” Mingyu enquires.
“Nah she is just a new hire at the office, does not like talking to people at all. She is more antisocial than Wonwoo’s ass.”
“Really now, antisocial?” Seungcheol enquires, not missing Jeonghan’s defensive tone.
“Yes, Cheol antisocial, plus I don’t even know her enough,” the male says while rolling his eyes at his friends interest with you.
“Maybe you could talk to her and get her out of her shell, you are a pretty good mediator in our group I think you could do that,” pipes up the ever so benevolent Seokmin.
“Yes, you could,” Seungcheol joins him smirking a bit.
Now thoroughly annoyed Jeonghan exclaims “no I cannot. The only way someone can get that stuck up bitch out of her shell will be fucking her or something and I do not want to do so!”
“What if I pay you, will you do it then,” Seungcheol says still smirking.
“Do what?”
“Fuck her enough to get her out of her shell.”
The whole room goes silent at that statement.
“Hyung, I don’t think it’s right,” the youngest of them, Chan, suddenly speaks.
“Yes, its morally incorrect man,” Jeonghan agrees.
“I will pay you, plus life is pretty boring. This will give us something to talk about for at least the next year,” the oldest explains still smiling a bit.
“I agree with the others, its emotionally taxing and nothing good will come out of doing something like this man, plus what are we teenagers making bets about emotionally harming others?” Joshua says.
“Jeonghan, you do it and I will give you a thousand bucks,” the oldest says calmly. At the same time all the men in the room let out an exasperated sigh, knowing there is no winning with this stubborn man, while hoping silently that Jeonghan does not succumb to the greed.
But alas they were wrong, so wrong. An amount that lucrative will only be passed by a fool and Jeonghan was no such thing. He stood up from his place at the loveseat and confidently strode over to Seungcheol.
“You better keep your fucking word,” he says while shaking the older man’s hand.
While Seungcheol smiles and says, “you know what you complete the bet within the next six month I’ll give you a five thousand and if you don’t end up doing it, you gotta pay me pal.”
--
After that evening with his friends, Jeonghan was pretty stressed, because why should he not be? Making you sleep with him is hard enough, but making a situationship out of it sounds even harder. Now he thoroughly regrets accepting the bet.
You on the other hand are pretty happy and quiet as you often are. Very much unaware of his internal turmoil, as you keep talking excitedly about the new Lego death star you bought.
Yes, you and Jeonghan have bonded quite a bit these past few days, he likes spending time with you too, and so do you. It is a nice and comfortable friendship you both have built, and you like it.
“Why don’t you let me come to your place this weekend, and we can build the set together. We can get takeout later too,” he suddenly speaks up shocking you with such forward proposition.
“Well only if you want to though no pressure, it’s just that I really wanted to build the death star and was planning to buy it but like couldn’t make enough time to do –”
“Sure, you can come,” you speak up stopping his nervous rant.
“Are you sure?” Jeonghan asks just to make sure he heard it correctly.
“Yes, I am, it will be fun to build the Lego set together,” you say smiling.
“Yes, it would be, but like are you really sure,” he says again to make sure he is really not hard at hearing.
“Jeonghan if you ask me once again, I will take back what I just said.”
This makes him stop talking at all and he proceeds to show you his beautiful smile, making you feel a bit giddy inside.
“So, I will come this Saturday and we shall make the death star cuz we can,” he sings, making you bark out a laugh at him.
Little do you know you just poured a cool bucket of water on the burning flames on anxiety inside Jeonghan’s brain and he is extremely happy about that.
--
The next Saturday comes rolls in slowly, the tedious and boring week is over, and it is time for self-care and a lot of friendship building activities or that’s what you thought.
The man was mad and when you say mad you mean it. The Lego making only lasted for like two hours before he had hidden all the pieces of the part that you were making, resulting you to search for them all over the house. Moreover, after diligently searching and finding nothing, you had given up when he had produced all those pieces from his pockets shocking you to the core.
This little stunt had made you force him to pay for the takeout and when you were both fed and watered, he had proposed a game of chess. Only problem, you never knew one could cheat in this game too. He moved the pieces wrong.
Result. You both had the pettiest fight ever wherein the man with all his might tried to convince you that the rook was indeed supposed to move diagonally.
“You don’t understand, that is how the game is played. Are you sure you ever played this before?” he had asked.
“Hani you are wrong, please the rook never in its whole life moved diagonally, it always moved straight.”
“Maybe that is what your problem is, you are so uptight, you refuse to accept the differences in our opinions!”
“Oh, now I'm uptight, you are only being this difficult cuz you are losing!”
“I wouldn’t if you let me play the rook diagonally.”
“But that is not how it is played! Why don’t you—"
All your rants stop just like that, it took you at least five business days to actually realize that Jeonghan had kissed you. But once you got over that shock, you closed your eyes and moved your lips along with his.
Jeonghan, thoroughly exasperated by your intense argument, impulsively sought to quiet you by placing a soft, lingering kiss on your plump lips. Almost immediately, regret washed over him as he feared he had acted rashly at the worst possible moment. Mentally preparing to distance himself from you for the rest of your time together, he was taken aback when you reciprocated the kiss, instantly dissolving all his worries and leaving him pleasantly surprised.
You broke the kiss to take a breath, both looking visibly flustered.
“Do you want to stay the night, or do you want to go?” you asked him while looking at him with your sparkling eyes, making Jeonghan want to glue his ass to your house, but he being the gentleman he was declined the offer.
“I would really like to take you out on a date. As I really like you, so I won’t spoil my chances with you by staying tonight.”
To say you were surprised would be an understatement. You always thought of the man to be a Casanova, so the idea of him taking you on a date while simultaneously insinuating that he won’t take any harsh steps with you was a nice little change and you were all for it.
--
It was all smooth sailing after that.
Jeonghan took you to an amusement park for the date next Sunday and oh boy did you enjoy yourself to the fullest.
Both of you had the time of your lives. Making sure to go on every ride, play every game and eating every junk you found there. By the end of it you were visibly exhausted and elated with how the day went.
The following day you were visibly happier in the office and even had a small conversation with one of your coworkers.
This went on for the following month, with each and every date you opened up to Jeonghan more and more, and so did he.
He loved spending time with you and vice versa. It was during your regular Friday movie nights, a ritual you both had established as you both liked watching movies and bonded while talking about them, when Jeonghan absolutely bored with the movie scooted a bit too close to you in hopes of gaining your attention by annoying you, a typical Jeonghan move. When you both ended up making love on the couch.
This was only the start of a lot of escapades you would have with the man.
After that one night, Jeonghan was all over you at all times. Be it at the office or be it at home he was with you or texting you all the time. Your nights were now filled with heavy make outs and intense love making sessions.
Everybody at the office knew about you both. On top of that you were more extroverted than ever. You even went out with your coworkers for an office dinner. Somehow, Jeonghan was praised for the change he brought in you, and like his ‘kind’ self, he declined all those compliments with a gracious smile.
He didn’t like to say it out loud, but he liked your changed self, more than your reserved one. Plus, he also took credit for the change, but it’s not like he would tell you that anytime soon.
--
It was almost five months into dating Jeonghan, when he asked you to meet his friends. You knew he had a very loyal group of friends and you had never met them before. On the contrary Jeonghan had met your one and only best friend within only three months of dating. In the most best friend manner, the lady has hated his ass the whole-time side eyeing him constantly and leaving petty remarks here and there. But that night she had called you and told you something she didn’t ever say for any of your boyfriends “I can see he loves you a lot. For the first time you chose the correct guy.”
Getting your strict best friend to like Jeonghan was like clearing the first hurdle of your relation. For the first time, you were proud of your choice in men and especially your boyfriend.
“Oh, I would love to meet them, but would they like me,” you were rightfully concerned about the boys liking you. As much as you were independent, you would like to gain the approval of your boyfriend’s friends like any girlfriend.
“They are dorks through and through, they will love, don’t worry” he had said while kissing your forehead to calm you down.
“Plus, you will fit right in, they are nice people,” he later added.
--
That evening, Jeonghan had taken you to the Korean BBQ place downtown where they all were meeting. The night had started rocky but within an hour you were having fun with Mingyu and Seokmin, all worries forgotten. Jeonghan had looked at you with pride blooming in his chest with how happy you looked with his friends, enjoying yourself.
It seems that all the twelve of them had liked you a lot saying you were the perfect partner for Jeonghan, someone who could ground him at the same time let him be himself.
The BBQ party came to an end, but the boys still had a lot of energy, so they went to the karaoke next taking both you and Jeonghan with them. Although you were thoroughly exhausted, you had complied to go, seeing Jeonghan have so much fun was a sight you didn’t want to miss.
You had gone to the bathroom the first thing right after reaching the karaoke place, to wake you up and also to do your business. Seungkwan had accompanied you claiming, “all that soju and walking has made my bladder shake like never before!” it’s not a lie though, they did drink like it will be the last time they ever get to drink.
As you came out of the restroom, Seungkwan gave you a kind smile and said “I have never seen Jeonghan this happy before, not even with us. I'm sure he likes you a lot.”
Smiling at him you said, “I think I love him; I have not said that to him yet, but I really think I do.”
With a sassy ‘good for you’ from the one and only Boo, you both made your way to the room that your group had booked.
As you reached closer, you could hear all the boys talking to each other.
“I approve, she is an angel, she even consoled Soon when he cried” said one of them making you smile a bit. By this time Seungkwan had stopped with you too eavesdropping on his friends as he is as dramatic as one can be.
“She is nothing like what you described her to be you know, she is nice and kind and far from being stuck up,” someone else said.
“Nah she is not, that stuck up once you get to know her, contrary to that she is very cheery and I like her you know,” Jeonghan had replied making you feel extra giddy inside.
“Hey bro if you like her that much maybe we should call off the deal we made, I see how much you like her and if you ask me, I will say she is a keeper,” with this statement, a silence washed over the whole group. You looked at Seungkwan to understand what was happening, but the man refused to look at you still stubbornly pretending to listen to the conversation.
“I said I like her, not like her enough to let go of the five thousand you offered” you suddenly heard Jeonghan speak making you even more confused about the whole ordeal.
“I think you will regret it you let her go hyung,” Seokmin suddenly said with a very somber tone generating a lot of assertive noises from the group.
“She won’t bring me five thousand, plus I fucked her got into a relationship with her and made her the fun-loving bitch she is now. It was a tedious process, but I completed my work, so I deserve the money.”
It was hard hearing the man you loved so much make such a degrading comment. At this point you were shaking with emotions so much that even Seungkwan who refused to look at you during this whole time, had to hold you steady.
“Did you know about this,” you asked him.
The boy with his eyes downcast just nodded his head.
“I won’t even ask you why you didn’t tell me about it, I get it you are his friend makes sense.”
“Hey none of us wanted him to do anything like this, but your Jeonghan is unstoppable sometimes and about the wrong things.”
“I think I should get going, I’ve heard enough.”
“Hey y/n we like you a lot, so please stay in contact with us later, no matter what your verdict is,” the younger man pleaded with glistening eyes, making you almost accept the request out of pity.
You ignored everyone and strode into the room bustling with men, heading straight for the couch. Without hesitation, you grabbed your bag and, as you walked out, approached Jeonghan and delivered a firm slap to his face. "We're done," you declared before exiting the room without glancing at anyone else.
--
The minute you had left, Jeonghan felt his life crashing down on him. The looks of disapproval from his friends and the pure disappointment that radiated off you caught him off guard. He had thought he could get out of it with both the girl and the money, but suddenly he realized he didn’t even need the said money, he only needed you. The weight of his words came to haunt me as soon as he had spoken them.
He immediately attempted to follow you but was stopped by Seungkwan, “did you see her face, if you follow her now, she will resent you more. Not like you don’t deserve it, but you are still my friend.”
The tone of his voice showed how much he was upset with Jeonghan. So much so that the younger male could not even look at his face.
“You are my hyung, but you know what I like her more, never have I ever thought you would do something like this,” he continued, “I hope she never forgives you.”
Hearing that Jeonghan couldn’t control himself and punched Seungkwan and a fight broke out. The boys trying their best to resolve it.
“It’s already a mess, can you both stop making it worse!” Mingyu said as Seungkwan punched Jeonghan back square on the jaw.
“Tell that shit to not meddle in my business then” comes Jeonghan’s voice.
“Maybe if you didn’t break her heart I wouldn’t, she was a fucking nice person,” Seungkwan shouted back as Mingyu dragged him out.
The night was ruined, and it was all because of Jeonghan.
--
That night you came home and cried your heart out ignoring all the calls from Jeonghan and the other boys, with whom you had exchanged numbers during the hangout. Thankfully, it was a Sunday the next day, so you didn’t have to look at the man who broke your heart, but it pained you so much to even move a muscle. It was like your heart was ripped out of your body. The pain was immeasurable.
There were at least a hundred missed calls on your phone and thirty of them from all of the boys. Your best friend come to your place that Sunday and tried her best to console a sad you, but nothing could stop you from beating yourself up for trusting a man like him. it’s true you loved him, and you regrated doing so, you didn’t blame Jeonghan for breaking your heart, you blamed yourself for being weak enough for you to let Jeonghan do so to you, for letting the man step all over you like you were a piece of trash that had no place in the normal world. The degrading things that he had said about you kept echoing in your ears, making it hard for you to think of anything else.
It was like you had forgotten all about your vow to never let anyone step over you and take away a piece of you from yourself. You were so hurt that you refused to see Jeonghan at all. So, on the next Monday you asked your HR for a weeklong leave and the kind lady obliged owing to your stellar performance at your department.
You turned off your phone that week and went to stay with you friend as the house was too lonely for you and the more you stayed there, the more you felt the memories of you and Jeonghan coming to haunt you.
--
On that Monday, Jeonghan woke up with a newfound determination. He was resolved to confront you and explain that his hurtful words from that night stemmed from his own inability to accept his feelings. He believed that once he clarified his side of the story, your compassionate nature would lead you to forgive him. He was even prepared to humble himself, willing to beg for your forgiveness if necessary. However, fate intervened when he discovered you had taken a week-long leave from the office.
The realization of consequences hit him suddenly. Yes, he understood the gravity of his actions, but he was willing to face any repercussions if it meant having you back in his arms. Anything seemed bearable compared to the thought of losing you.
By Wednesday, Jeonghan found himself standing at your doorstep, desperately knocking, hoping to speak with you. To his dismay, a neighbor informed him that you had been absent since Monday. His heart sank realizing he had missed his chance to reconcile with you.
He had made a solemn vow to himself that he would reach out to you no matter what obstacles lay in his path, willing to go to any lengths to make amends. However, he now realized the depth of his mistake. Reflecting on his actions, he understood that he should have heeded the advice of his friends earlier, but it was too late for regrets.
Jeonghan's determination to win you back consumed him. He felt a deep pang of regret for not acting sooner and for failing to appreciate the warnings from his friends. Now, facing the reality of your absence, he grappled with the weight of his impulsive behavior.
In the days that followed, Jeonghan resolved to wait patiently for your return, determined to seize any opportunity to make things right. He hoped against hope that he hadn't irreparably damaged the bond between you. Each passing day without you served as a sobering reminder of the importance of listening to his instincts and valuing the counsel of those who cared about him.
--
The next week you opened your phone to see it has blown up with Jeonghan’s messages and there were a few from Seungkwan asking you if you are okay and telling you that he had punched Jeonghan for being an asshole to you and that most of the people didn’t agree with Jeonghan’s antics but its hard to stop Jeonghan when is like that.
Taking pity of the boy you and answered him accepting his apology and telling him you were happy that he punched the guy.
His answer came immediately, saying he was happy that there is no bad blood among you two and he prefers you more than Jeonghan anyways making you laugh at his cuteness.
When you returned back to the office, the first thing you did was hand them your resignation letter. The next thing on your list was avoid Jeonghan till you leave work, at which you were pretty successful.
And just like that you were done with your time in the office and were moving onto another job before Jeonghan could even get hold of you.
--
Its has been three years since and life had never been better. You became friends with Seungkwan, Seokmin and Soonyoung immediately. You four hangout quite frequently. The three younger men like you a lot too. It’s a strong bond you have created with them. If anyone asks you would say the only good thing that came from your ex was the friends you made while with him.
On top of that you also have been in a relation with a man who treats you right and loves you to death. Its like you have at last reached the light at the end of the tunnel.
--
Jeonghan on the other hand drowned himself in work after you left, the man tried his best to forget your existence and was very thankful his work helped him do so. But whenever he was out with his friends he couldn’t stop himself from asking about you and always he got the same answer of ‘none of your fucking business’ from Seungkwan.
But it was different this time, it was the ever so kind Seokmin who answered him.
“Hyung she moved on, and you should too.” Hearing that he stood up, he didn’t know why. Would he go to your house and beg for your forgiveness again or will he call you while asking you to give him another chance?
Truth to be told, he didn’t know.
“Hyung please don’t mess this up for her. She is happy,” Seokmin spoke up again, kindly holding his hand to pull him down back onto his seat. It felt like Jeonghan’s life has come crashing down on him once again. One lone tear left his eye, too embarrassed to cry in front of his friends, he puts up a happy front while saying “of course Seok, I would do nothing to hurt her.”
All his friends looked at the man in pity, hoping that faith was kinder to him. but they couldn’t deny that he single handedly destroyed his life either. He was still their friend and he deserved to be happy to but so did you. The man sat in silence for some time till Joshua loudly declared he wanted to go to the arcade and all the others enthusiastically agreed, happy about the distraction.
That is when Jeonghan realized life has gone on and not stopped for anyone, the time he was supposed to seize his moment has passed and it wont ever come back. He now has to live his life without the presence of one of the most precious thing he ever had the privilege to possess, your love.

--
“Han like this new chick in his office.”
He now has to live his life without the presence of one of the most precious thing he ever had the privilege to possess, your love.

tags: husband jeonghan, girl dad jeonghan, gn!reader, refers to reader as his wife, he is a clutch dad, very playful dad, the daughter is just like him, yoon genes run deep
girl dad jeonghan who is just kind of a silly individual who loves other people who are silly…. like his best friends are seungcheol (old man silly), joshua (crazy silly), and dokyeom (just a deeply silly individual). he had told you that the reason he liked hanging out with them was because they were always so entertaining and willing to laugh with him. life is too short to not be laughing whenever you can!
girl dad jeonghan who laughs at the same thing your toddler kid does. not gonna lie… his humor probably fits around little kids. he laughs at fart jokes and likes teasing. this is probably why jeonghan gets along with your daughter so well.
girl dad jeonghan who has a good eye for cute things, so he likes dressing up your daughter. ever since she was a baby, he has always liked staying up just a little later to coordinate her outfits with you. you hadn’t expected him to be this invested in this part of your baby’s life.
girl dad jeonghan who likes doing your daughter’s hair before school. since he also had long hair in the past and grows his hair out into a pookalicious bob every now and then, he is someone who knows hair. he braids your daughter’s hair and lets her learn how to do it on his hair. sometimes they both come up to you and ask you to do a matching hairstyle on them. of course… you have to join in on the fun too.
girl dad jeonghan who doesn’t have a problem with playing along with your daughter’s tea parties. she wants a tea party? then let there be teacakes. he always goes the full mile for her. you often wonder how he has the stamina to keep up with her, but he takes naps at the same time she does. you have a lot of those photos in your camera roll.
girl dad jeonghan whose favorite school day is bring your father to school day. they wear matching outfits, just to flex on the other dads in your daughter’s class. he prints out the picture they take together every year, and you two keep it in an album in your bedroom.
girl dad jeonghan who doesn’t know pop culture or new artists that well but still learns the dances to your daughter’s favorite kpop songs so he can teach her too. her favorite thing is learning dances from her dad and seeing him perform. when she was old enough to dance, you’d bring her along to times that you watched seventeen’s practices.
girl dad jeonghan who laughs when she picks up phrases from him or tries to copy him. he sometimes sees her just carrying around a plastic spoon or falling asleep with it in her hand. when she gets scared, she has a three pitch whine that makes him wonder where he’s heard it form while you wonder how both of them got to be so similar.
girl dad jeonghan whose daughter calls him pookie, because that’s what you used to call him when she was a baby. he never corrected her until later. (“not pookie but dad!” “pookie!”) honestly, he doesn’t mind and finds it funny anyways. his members tease him and call him pookie too, but he’s not as forgiving to them as he is with his daughter.
girl dad jeonghan who melts at your daughter’s aegyo. he always asks you how she’s so good at it, especially when she wants something. but, you know better. everything she’s used is all learned from him. he just doesn’t know his own trick are being used against him! he always encourages your daughter to do aegyo on seungcheol so he can buy her snacks, though. (and it works every time…)
girl dad jeonghan who is protective of his daughter. he asks his group members to back up when you visit with her so that she doesn’t get overwhelmed. one at a time! gently hold her! support her neck! don’t spit on her mingyu! his group members always joke around that he brags about his daughter all the time but only nags when they get to actually see her in person.
girl dad jeonghan who loves seeing his daughter get along with her kpop idol uncles. she’s charmed all the members of seventeen and has them wrapped around her precious little finger. even his hyungwon hyung thinks she’s the cutest gem ever. as they should. that’s his daughter.
finally, girl dad jeonghan who finds himself lucky to be able to love your daughter and you.

You had opened a cafe on Main Street all by yourself and was things were going great without a boyfriend so you simply thought “who needs a boyfriend anyways?” ? But that changed once you had met the man of everyone’s dream, Yoon Jeonghan.
Notes: I'm finally cured from write block, and I felt like writing something else besides "Puppy Love' but dont worry I haven't abandoned it, like I promised it's coming back in may but till then please enjoy this short series!
Warnings: Cursing and thats really it…
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Order for Michaela!" Your voice boomed over the chattering of your customers. It was a Friday and you hadn't had the least of doubt that it was going to be busy that morning. You opened up a cozy cafe on Main street with your best friend, Lee Seokmin, who you've known since Highschool, and your part timers, Kim Chaewon and Lee Sohee who have also been with you since the store had first opened. "y/n I'm gonna clock out in a bit ok?" Chaewon taps on your shoulder and you give her a slight nod. You continue to serve and take orders till closing time, were you, Seokmin, and Sohee were closing up the shop. "Imma head out first, see ya'll tomorrow!" Seokmin flashes his signature golden smile while walking out the front door, waving us goodbye. You and Sohee finish cleaning up the cafe shortly after Seokmin's depature and make your way towards your apartment complex "You know Yoon Jeonghan?" Sohee speaks up "No..?" You reply "Of course you don't your a fuckin old hag" Sohee says with a sigh, continuing to scroll through his phone "God, you kids are so disrespectful now a days" You scoff, grabbing a hold of his neck and tug at the back of his neck, causing him to yell out in pain "thats what you get you brat" you chuckle, Sohee takes a few steps away from you, for safety measures. "But like I was saying, He's apparently coming to New York to film a drama" He says, a hint of excitement laced through his voice "Sohee, New York is big, what are the possibilities that he's going to be filming anywhere near main street?" Sohee lets out a sigh at your down putting response "Wow thanks alot." His tone sarcastic. You both make it to your apartment complex before parting ways. You open the door to your apartment and immedtaly throw your bag to the side and remove your shoes. Your quick to change into your pajamas and brush you teeth etc. You got into bed, ready to go to sleep when your phone buzzes. "He might start filming this week" Read the text Sohee had sent you. You let out a "tsk" in response and simply send him a thumbs up emoji before heading to bed.
The next morning you changed into your usually work attire, a simple white button up with a pair of cream colored dress pants. You wear your favorite pair of white sneakers and grab your bag before leaving your apartment. Once you make it to the front of your apartmen Sohee is already outside, waiting for you. Sohee lives only a few stories apove your apartment, which was also how you had met him before the opening of your cafe. You and Sohee begin the short walk over to your cafe. Both you and Sohee's phones light up from a text sent in your groupchat. "What the hell is going on" Chaewon had sent with a photo of a bunch of vans and camera and people crowding main street "What's happening?" Sohee only shrugs in response as you continue your way to work, only a little faster this time. Once you had arrived at the cafe both Chaewon and Seokmin rushed up to the two of you "Whats going on?" Sohee asks, glaring over at the chaos to the left of the cafe "I think there filming something" Seokmin says, pointing out that the people who were rushing around were all wearing shirts that read "Staff" on the back. With that, Sohee gasps, catching you all off guard "Yoon Jeonghan!" He shrieks and you all whip your head over towards the set to see a beautiful man with long luscious black hair that reached down to about his shoulder and a tall and slender build. His aura soft yet powerful, his delicate features complimenting everything about him. “Wow.." he truly looked like an angel. "god he's beautiful" Chaewon's mouth basically hanging open as she watches the beautiful man "I told you!" Sohee shakes you out of your trance. "Ok guys let's just open up the shop, alright?" You fumble through your bag to find the keys to the store.
Today was even more busy then it had been yesterday and the four of you definitely all knew why. Yoon Jeonghan. But you didn't mind, after all it was just bring you in more money. The day went by quickly, people rushing in and out, customers complaining, and so one. Basically another normal day just five times more hectic. You begin to clean up around the store when you hear the bells from the front door go off "Welcome!" You shout, turning your customers service voice back on. You place the broom down and turn around, your eyes widen at the site in front of you. Yoon Jeonghan simply standing there, glancing over the menu above you. His hair put up into a ponytail, his bangs slightly coming undone in front of his face. You quickly fix yourself before rushing over to the cashier "What would you recommend?" His fixes his glance down to you, making eye contact. You immediately look down towards the register, feeling flustered. "Depends on what you like" You shrug, clearing your throat and looking back up at him and he nods "Maybe something sweet?" He says "How about a Vanilla latte?" You suggest "I'll take whatever you suggest" The beautiful man says, a small smirk on his lips. "Alright that will be $4.45" The man pulls out his card and hands it to you, which you swipe it through the reader "Your order will be out in a few minutes" You flash him a smile and he returns it "Take your time" You immediately get to work on his order when Chaewon and Sohee both come rushing to your side from the supply room "No way that just happened" Chaewon grabs onto your arm all giddy. "I think he wants you" Sohee giggles, shaking you for the second time today "Ya'll are too much, just go finish closing up" You roll your eyes and the two giggle before rushing off into the back. You place the cap on his order and place it on the pick-up table "Sir your order is ready" You call out and his head snaps up from his phone. He gets up and picks up the coffee giving you a smile "Thank you" his voice so sweet your heart was filled with warmth "Of course, please enjoy!" You return the smile. You watch as he walks towards the door and you turn back around to turn off the lights "Oh and also sorry for the bother outside" You turn around and Jeonghan is still standing there by the door. He points outside to the Vans and people by the side of your cafe "Don't worry about it, good luck on your shoot" Jeonghan takes one more look towards your before heading out. You turn off the lights and pack up. Once you walk out Sohee is there again, waiting for you "god he's so beautiful.." You let out a sigh, sensing a rant coming up "And first of all, This was the first time I've ever seen you flustered in like what 4 years which is actually insane" And just like that Sohee's rant began "I was so shocked you like never show any emotions besides like anger and just being calm I guess.” Sohee pauses and look at you for a second "I mean I'm not calling you some heartless freak but you kinda are" You roll your eyes at the kids honest statement "AND the way he looked at you, HELLO? That shit was for sure love at first sight" Sohee giggles like a middle school fangirl at the last part "Ok bud.." You say with sarcasm and he laughs "No I'm being serious, he was definitely tryna get your attention" Sohee begins once again "I'll take whatever you suggest" Sohee says, mimicking what Jeonghan had said earlier "I mean come on, he was definitely flirting" Sohee scoffs a bit at your at your very little knowledge of romance "First of all, I wasn't flustered and second he wasn't flirting he literally just didnt know what to get" You say but Sohee shakes his head. The two of you reach your apartment complex and say your goodnights before heading your separate ways. You enter your apartment and get ready to sleep, the thoughts of earlier replaying in your head and you giggle at the thought of what Sohee had said "What the hell.." You mumble to yourself. "What's up with you today?' You thought to yourself but you were to tired to think to much of it and just went to bed.

The weeks went by faster than you had realized. Jeonghan still stopped by your cafe between his breaks and he's supposedly grown a liking towards you, at least that's what Sohee says. As the closing time of your cafe neared, you heard the bell from the entrance ring, and with no surprise, it was Yoon Jeonghan walking through the door. His outfit was quite different than the ones the stylists would normally put him in. He was wearing a white button-down, which where tucked into his pair of black dress pants and a black tie to bring the outfit all together. "What can I get you" Jeonghan looked up at the menu as if he hadn't already memorized all of it because of how frequently he visited "Just 2 iced americano". "Two?" you thought to yourself but you just nodded and got to work on the man's drinks. "Hey, Jeonghan?" Your voice so quiet you could barely hear it, but Jeonghan had heard you "Yes?" Jeonghan got up from where he had previously been seated and walked towards the pick-up section "You don't really like iced Americano's, right?" You ask, curiosity getting the better of you. Jeonghan lets out a sigh and begins to look around the cafe, as if he were avoiding your eyes "Yeah, just felt like a change today" He shrugs, finally bringing his eyes to meet you but you immediately look away. You didn't dare ask the second question that you had. "Who was the second one for?". "Alright, here you go" You bring yourself back from your thoughts and place Jeonghan's drinks on the table. You give Jeonghan a quick smile before turning your back towards him and beginning to clean up and get ready for closing "Hey Y/N?" Jeonghan's angelic voice sends chills down your spine. You turn around to face Jeonghan who has one of the iced americanos in his hand and the other still on the table "Go on a date with me." silence. "Are you joking?" Is what came out of your mouth, though you didn't intend it to. "Did you want it to be?" Jeonghan says in a teasing manner, slightly raising his right eyebrow. Silence engulfs the two of you as you're at a loss of words. Did you want it to be a joke?. "No.." you finally get out and Jeonghan seems quite satisfied with your response because a devious smirk appears on his lips. "Ok then, Tomorrow at 6 ?" you can only nod in response as you feared that if you were to open your mouth you would fuck everything up. Jeonghan chuckles a bit realizing you had completely shut down "Wear something nice, ok?" Jeonghan pushes one of the iced americanos towards you before taking his and walking out, leaving you completely stunned. You aren't left in the dark for long as you get a text from Sohee.
"What took you so long, I was about to leave you here." Sohee nags once you finally finished cleaning and locked up for the day "Sorry, some last minute stuff" You shrug but Sohee always knows when something's up "I saw Jeonghan leave the cafe just now~" Sohee giggles, grabbing a hold of you arm. You already knew where this was going "What's up with you too" Sohee drags you from side to side as if he were trying to shake something out of you "Did he ask you out?" You didn't even get to respond when Sohee gasped loudly, shaking you vigorously. "I FUCKING KNEW IT, I LITERALLY TOLD YOU HE WANTED YOU!" Sohee jumps up and down, still holding onto your arm. "I didn't even say anything!" You try and defend yourself but Sohee shuts you down almost immediately "You suck at hiding your facial expressions" Sohee giggles, which you roll your eyes at in response "Fuck you." You scoff, finally pulling yourself away from the boy.
The next day had arrived and you were beyond nervous. You decided to wear a black tube top dress that stopped just above your knees, a black shoulder bag, a simple silver necklace with a singular diamond pendant at the center, and a pair of black heels. You finish your makeup and rush out your apartment door, making your way towards your cafe. As you approach your cafe, you see a black BMW parked right in front of the cafe. The closer you got, the tenser you became but the second you saw Jeonghan, all of it disappeared. "Hello beautiful," He says teasingly but he truly meant it. You looked absolutely stunning to him and he simply wanted to just stare at you for hours on end. "Hi," You lower your head sheepishly, your face getting hot. Jeonghan opens his car door, taking your hand as he helps you enter his car. You somehow completely forgot that this man was a celebrity, an extremely rich and famous one at that. Jeonghan begins to drive and there is silence between the two of you, not awkward silence but more comfortable silence, or at least that's what Jeonghan thought. You, on the other hand, was a whole other story. Now that it's kinda dawned on you that you're going on a date with a celebrity, you start to second-guess basically your entire existence, well that's what it felt like. You felt underdressed compared to Jeonghan, who was wearing a silk-like white shirt tucked into a pair of black dress pants with his pretty black hair pulled up in a half up half down type hairstyle (what he wore to that Saint Laurent event). Though the outfit was quite simple, the way it looked on Jeonghan made it look exquisite and expensive, which it probably was. "You look stressed," Jeonghan says breaking the silence "Do I?" You finally look up from your lap and at Jeonghan whose eyes are on the road "Yeah, don't be though" You scoff at his response and only then does he take his eyes off the road to look at you "I'm going out with a fucking celebrity, what do you mean 'don't be'" You say in a sarcastic tone and Jeonghan smirks at your snarky response "Tonight, Don't think of me as a celebrity, just think of me as Jeonghan, just another human on this planet" You liked the thought of that. Just Jeonghan. "Welp, we're here" Jeonghan gets out of the car and opens the car door for you before handing his car keys to the valet attendant and walking you into a fancy Italian restaurant. You're both seated at a table in the corner and are given menus before the two of you are finally left alone. "So.." Jeonghan begins "When'd you open your cafe?" He asks "Back when I was about 19?" You shrug, Jeonghans eyebrows shoot up in surprise "Dam you were young then" Jeonghan remarks, leaning back in his seat. "What about school and shit?" he asks. "Honestly," you respond "I was pretty smart in high school and throughout college, so It wasn't something I was worried about, I managed." Jeonghan lets out a playful sigh "Wish I had that struggle" he quips, a slight smirk on his face. "Oh come on, you couldn't have been that dumb" You reassure him "Nah I was, the lowest of my class actually" He chuckles "Was too caught up with training and friends and stuff to really care about studying and my grades, you know" with a hint of sarcasm you respond "Actually not really" teasing him a bit and the man seems to enjoy it as he lets out a laugh.
The two of you order your food and continue to chat, even after finishing your food, the two of you sit for an extra hour simply just talking. "We should probably leave" You suggest and Jeonghan nods, getting up from his seat and you follow. "Thanks for tonight Jeonghan," You say once you enter the car "I really enjoyed myself" You beamed "Don't mention it doll, I enjoyed myself as well" The nickname caught you off guard and very visibly too because Jeonghan seems to smirk taking a look at your flustered expression. Once you finally reach the outside of your apartment, Jeonghan helps you out of his car "Wait hold on" Jeonghan stops you from going up the stairs of your apartment complex. He runs towards his car and opens the back door of his car, picking up a grey zip-up hoodie from the back seat and brings it towards you. "Here" he takes both of your hands and places the zip-up hoodie in them "What's this for?" You scoff "It's cold these days," He says "And I just wanted to, thought you would look good in it" His voice is teasing, though you would find it annoying if it was someone else (Sohee) you didn't mind because it was Jeonghan. After a further examination of the hoodie, you realize it wasn't necessarily plain. It had a little blue and red flower on the front side of it with the wording "KENZO PARIS" on it. "Thanks, Jeonghan, I didn't get you anything though" You sulk a bit, wishing you would have known he would have gotten you something "I don't need any gifts from you, you're my gift for tonight," He says, the return of his signature teasing tone is evident "You're too much" You laugh, pushing his shoulder just a bit. "Maybe" He shrugs, a stupid smile on his face. He walks you up to your apartment till you are both at your doorstep "Lemme see your phone" Jeonghan puts his hand in front of you and you immediately hand it to him unlock, all survival instincts being left behind. After a few seconds, Jeonghan hands you back your phone, now with his contact saved "Text me, ok?" He says and you nod "Goodnight princess" He smiles "Night Jeonghan" You smile back before shutting the door behind you, officially ending your first date with Jeonghan.

summary: in which you and yoon jeonghan reunite after years and find comfort in each other.
warnings: none
a/n: in honour of the cty mv releasing and me crying to it every single time i watched it. i hope this makes your day feel better if you're having a hard time <3 remember to always love yourself!

Jeonghan didn’t know where he was going.
The rain poured down relentlessly, each droplet soaking him to the bone. He had no umbrella, but he didn't notice or care. Even when the winds were rough and the trees were being pushed around he continued to walk.
Walk to nowhere.
Part of him knew he should be getting rest or at least try to. Jeonghan hadn’t slept for many days now and if he even managed to, it would only last for an hour or two before he was woken up. There were bags that shadowed his eyes and he silently trudged along the path.
It was bad enough he was having a bad day then he came home to have his girlfriend of two years break up with him. Yujin was bound to leave him sooner or later, everyone else did. And yet, even when he knew this, it still hurt. The feeling still left a hole in his heart just like it did the first time. It still seemed to tear his consciousness apart, leaving him a hollow shell.
Jeonghan couldn’t decide what hurt more: her leaving or his letting her go. He could have begged her to stay, could have gotten down on his knees and pleaded, but he didn't. He let her slip away. Perhaps it was because he knew he had fallen out of love with her.
The two had only found solace and comfort when times were rough and back then, Jeonghan
had been at a better place. When he looked at her he used to be filled with the softest of love and admiration. He didn’t do that anymore. The couple fought and screamed and in the end, it always ended in tears. So like he said, inevitable.
There was a figure at the park, hunched over on a bench. Jeonghan's eyes were blurry, partly from the tears so when he approached you he didn't recognise the familiar warm eyes. The eyes that once sparkled with happiness and joy. It was you who was crying silently in the rain and you didn’t notice Jeonghan until he sat down next to you.
You looked up sniffling, red eyes dripping with tears. It took a moment for you to register who was in front of you before you let out a gasp.
"Jeonghan!" Your voice was croaky and he suspected it was because you've been crying for a long time. "Long time no see."
It truly had been long. The last time he remembered seeing you was at the graduation party. The two of you were never closely acquainted. There was only a small project when the both of you were paired together. Even then, he loved the way your voice sounded like honey and no matter what, you were always smiling. It made him forget about the tough moments in life for just a small period of time whenever you were with him.
"I didn't think you'd recognise me." He chuckled.
"Nonsense." You wiped away your tears, as you took a shaky breath. "I'd remember that face anywhere."
There was a silence between the two of you. It wasn’t awkward though. He let you weep and you let him stay. It was mutual understanding.
"Why are you in the rain then? If you don't mind me asking."
"I don't mind." Jeonghan sighed. "Girlfriend broke up with me and my life's been shitty." You nodded and it wasn’t in pity, he was glad for that. "What about you?"
"Found him in the bed with my best friend." You scoffed, bringing your hand up to his face. "We were meant to get married four months from now."
Jeonghan noticed the small diamond ring you had on your finger. He sat next to you, letting you ramble to him. You apologised a lot and he barely recognised you from the years back. Back then you were the happiest person in the room, loud and cheerful. Now you were meek and timid, saying sorry for the littlest of things.
"You probably hate me talking so much." You nibbled your bottom lip. "It's nice to see you again though Jeonghan. Nice to see a familiar face."
There was a brief silence and Jeonghan took in what you had just said. The two of you had changed a lot since you last saw each other but that was expected. No one can really stay the same after so many years.
"I don't think I could hate anything about you Y/n." The words slipped out of his mouth before he could stop himself. "It's nice to see you as well. I've always wondered how you've been doing post-graduation."
Even though the rain had stopped, the clouds covered the sun. The weather was better than before, still cold no doubt. You were shivering a bit and Jeonghan noticed. He reckoned you were in a rush to get out of wherever you were because you were only wearing a t-shirt and that was soaked though. He took off his jacket and handed it to you.
"It won't do much since it's already wet. But it'll stop you from freezing to death." When you met his gaze you could see his eyes, filled with something you couldn't describe and yet it made your stomach warm and a surge of comfort washed over you.
"Are you sure? I remember you being quite sensitive to the cold, I don’t want you to freeze." The thought you had recalled such an insignificant detail about him made Jeonghan’s heart skip a beat.
“It’s fine honestly, I’m wearing a hoodie underneath anyway.”
You hesitantly took the jacket and put it on. "Thank you."
Jeonghan was about to get up and head home when you grabbed his hoodie. He turned around to see you, drowning in the significantly larger than you jacket and he couldn’t help but think you looked cute. You were fumbling around in your bag, taking out your phone.
"Can I get your number?"
Jeonghan stared at you and tried to comprehend what you had just asked.
He blinked a few times before taking out his phone. A small smile tugged at your lips as the two of you exchanged numbers. A warm feeling filled both of your chests. The both of you hadn’t felt that in such a long time.
When you told him goodbye Jeonghan smiled at you and for the first time it was a smile that he didn’t have to force. It was a smile that he knew was true, he knew it was because he was happy.
That night when he got home he received a text.
21:04 - from Y/n: hi, it's y/n! i forgot to tell you before you left but thank you for being there for me today <3 wanna go get some coffee tomorrow, my treat?
Jeonghan bit back a grin.
21:06 - to Y/n: coffee tomorrow sounds good :)
And when he went to bed that night, it was the most peaceful sleep he ever had.

jeon y/n.
all over the holy empire, this name resonated as the one of a hero, even a goddess for some. the strongest sword fighter of the country and the brightest mind among the armed forces. the youngest soldier of all time appointed as a marshal who prevented thousands of death. the scariest military whose strategies never failed and managed to kill the leader of the opposing country, taking down an important part of the army by herself. the current leader of the district of orpheus, the biggest of the whole empire, dubbed by the emperor himself.
but the truth was, you were far from a goddess.
as you wandered into the city, you wondered how you could be so surrounded and so lonely in the same time. yes you managed to save hundreds of civilians, yes you killed the leader of the empire of lupus all by yourself, yes your chest was now covered with golden medals and bows, but you also hadn’t been strong enough to save your brother, the most important person in your life. and now, as his death dated back to the beginning of the war, you couldn’t help but ponder if this hadn’t been staged.
you weren’t being delusional nor naively hopeful : all the techniques you learnt as a soldier came from wonwoo. he used to be a major general, if you had survived, he should have done the same. but he died in a blaze provoked by an explosion while protecting civilians. if you didn’t doubt his altruism nor his abilities, you doubt that he would have been careless enough to be trapped by the flames. but you didn’t have any evidence of your theory nor any support to rely on.
and, as you finally reached his former shared apartment, you started to remember how lonely you were.

hypnotised by the smoke from your hot chocolate, you looked away awkwardly, trying to find an interesting topic of conversation, in vain. before you, mingyu cleared his throat, stirring his coffee mindlessly. after giving a glance at the cardboard box between you, he murmured :
"i think you won’t need to come by, this was the last box with his things."
nodding slowly, you noticed a picture of your brother and you when you were younger. stretching your arm, you grabbed it and skimmed your brother’s face softly.
"it feels like yesterday," you sighed.
"you were so young by then," mingyu added fondly.
the photography had been taken by your former instructor at the high court of the republic when wonwoo had been nominated major general. you remembered this day clearly : you went to the florist in order to buy him the prettiest bouquet ever and bragged about his promotion all day long to your colleagues. but how could you not? when he was the youngest major general of the republic? wonwoo had raised you since his tenth birthday and worked harder than anyone else. he became your role model the moment your parents left this side of the world and you knew this nomination was only the proof of all his resilience. he was twenty four and you were twenty one. today, you were twenty five but he was still twenty four. and today, you were the one being praised as the youngest marshal of the empire.
shaking your head to erase those memories from your mind, you locked your gaze into your brother’s former roommate and right hand-man before starting carefully :
"do you… do you remember anything he said before…"
"i know what you’re about to say and the answer is still the same, mingyu cut, visibly trying to keep his composure, wonwoo didn’t say anything."
"but-"
"there is no but y/n, the young man insisted, wonwoo’s death was an accident. he was a soldier y/n, a fucking soldier. you need to understand that and stop clinging desperately to his death. you won’t find anything."
clenching your fists, you retorted coldly :
"he wasn’t an ordinary soldier, he was a major general! he was better than any of us, a simple fire wouldn’t have been enough. i can’t believe that and i can’t believe you accept it so easily!"
"i’m accepting it because it’s the truth!"
"this- this can’t be the truth, i refuse to believe it."
standing up abruptly, you gathered your belongings and grabbed the box vehemently, mingyu on your heels.
"y/n listen," mingyu started, trying to reach your wrist.
getting your wrist out of his grip, you asked him with a dirty look :
"listen to what? i’ve heard enough and i don’t think we have anything to say to each other anymore."
"but wonwoo said-"
"wonwoo asked you to take care of me i know, you cut sharply, but i am the marshal here, i don’t need your help to prove that his death is everything but normal."
storming out without a single glance behind, you left, the picture held close to your heart.
swiping a tear away, you murmured softly :
"hi wonwoo, how are you today?"
placing a crown of flowers on the stone, you started to remove diligently the old one and change the water of the vase.
"i finally got all your belongings back. i even found the picture from your nomination which was allegedly lost, you little rascal."
sitting down, your back against his grave, you played with your pendant -a simple medallion minted with a sun, wonwoo’s gift when you entered into the republican military school- instinctively before grabbing a case from your bag, the one about your brother’s death.
cause yes, if the name jeon y/n resonated as the one of a hero in the whole empire, it also resonated with the one of the girl who couldn’t accept her brother’s death, the major general jeon wonwoo. out of pity, when the procedure had been closed despite all your testimonies and pleads for advanced examinations, your colleagues in charge of his case had given you his folder, hoping it’d help you to get over it.
but you didn’t. instead, you looked at the different records and papers daily, looking for something, anything, that would prove that your reticence wasn’t irrational. but, after a whole year of incomplete and fruitless researches, you had to admit you were as lost as day one.
when you opened your eyes, you felt a pain near the back of the neck. studying little by little each of your senses, you finally noticed that you were still in the graveyard and had fallen asleep against wonwoo’s stone. slowly massaging your neck, you saw around you the different elements of the case. letting your eyes linger on each pictures seen and seen again to make sure none of them flew with the wind, your blood froze when one of them went past your field of vision. it was wonwoo’s lungs. the shot wasn’t clear but you were absolutely sure : there wasn’t any soot. yet, you had read it in a book Costagliola R, Telmon N, Duguet AM, Rougé D. Ann Burns Fire Disasters. the absence of soot means that the person didn’t breath the gas generated by the flames and the forensic expert has to conclude that the person wasn’t alone when their body had been burnt to ashes. but if there wasn’t soot in wonwoo’s lungs… it necessarily meant that he didn’t inhale the smoke. and, if he didn’t inhale the smoke from the fire, the only reason that could explain this was that wonwoo was dead before he could even inhale them. but it wasn’t possible, right? he had been devoured but the flames and struggled. he had necessarily breathed the smoke. there should be soot, even a infinitesimal quantity, unless… unless the report about his death was wrong. unless the persons in charge of the dossier lied. unless the persons behind his death changed it.

the following week, you presented yourself at the imperial palace. today was the last day of the month and, like each and every month, a meeting was held, gathering the emperor and the heads of the five districts of the empire. to you, this kind of conference was a hassle but you couldn’t deny that the population liked it, seeing it as a way to feel close to the army and to gossip about the famous figures of the government, making them forget in the same time about the astronomical amount of money spent on a single day. plus, it came along at just the right time to help you in your progress. even if you had managed to prove that wonwoo’s death wasn’t an accident, it was far from being enough. you had to find culprits and make them suffer.
arriving near the golden gate, the immense railings were already wide opened for you. sometimes, popularity wasn’t all that bad. you didn’t even have to introduce yourself that two guards were already welcoming you, in order to accompany you to the hall where the meeting was held.
sat in the middle of the marble table, your gaze embraced the little assembly composed of the five leaders of the districts. thus, by your left side was positioned kwon soonyoung from atalanta’s district, a marshal well known for his overwhelming strength. next to him was sat hong jisoo odysseus’ districts, a sly major general with angelic features. by your right side and already bickering with soonyoung was seated boo seungkwan from otrera’s district, a major general who wore his heart on his sleeves. and finally, sitting down at the other side of the table was chwe hansol from perseus’ district, the most phlegmatic general you ever met.
after ten minutes, the emperor finally appeared : choi seungcheol, the son of the former emperor who had taken the power when the republic fell because of the war. his father had been assassinated and seungcheol had replaced him, receiving in the same time all the golden laurels of victory. the young man greeted the five of you before sitting down right in front of you. ultimately, his closest advisor, lee jihoon, arrived in the hall and seungcheol invited him to open the session. the advisor executed himself, the most unreadable expression on his features.
everything went under jihoon’s expert gaze, from the crime levels to the economy of each district as well as the popularity level. if you didn’t see this usefulness of such a huge gathering when you could simply send a written report to jihoon, you liked to analyse his point of view and the criticisms he gave were admirable : short, effective and objective. you always wondered why the young man never enrolled in the army because of his skills and knowledges. wonwoo used to be his friend during high school before they went on their way, one alongside the future emperor, the other in the army. but, despite jihoon’s precious work, this meeting was, admittedly, a waste of time but it also gave you a huge opportunity to find clues linked to wonwoo’s murder. indeed, old informations and archives were all stored in the imperial archives. hence, if your enemies weren’t high ranked soldiers, they wouldn’t have been able to reach this room to falsify their names. you felt that, after a whole year during which people looked at you with nothing but pity when you talked about your brother, you finally got closer to the truth, therefore, you couldn’t help but shake your leg under the table, excitement and pressure fighting inside you.

at the end of the meeting, orpheus’ district ranked first for the fifth consecutive time and, as usual, you received praises from your colleagues which you swept away with a swing of the hand.
"i’m only doing my job," you assured.
usually, this announce would bring you pride and a little bit of vanity, especially when you knew how exceptional your colleagues were. but right now, despite your competitive nature, your mind was far from caring about some race between districts. instead, you were already planning on running to the next step of your investigation.
when midday rang, everyone started to stand up in order to join the big banquet usually held for the day. speeding yourself, you caught the emperor up and excused yourself :
"i’m sorry my emperor but i’m awaited at my district, i won’t be able to attempt the meal although i am truly grateful for this event."
"it’s okay, marshal jeon, the young man assured, thank you for your presence and your amazing results, up to your reputation as always."
after a final bow, you left the huge reception not without noticing the weird look jihoon addressed you and the strange feeling inside you.
slowly walking to prevent any sound of your presence in the huge corridors, you finally reached the next step of your journey : the imperial archives. the impressive door of polished oak tree was crowned with the latin expression acta, non verba written in gold, the motto of the holy empire. you found it kinda funny to put such an adage at the entrance of a place like archives. shaking your head to erase those thoughts, you started to walk through the different aisles.
with a groan, you finally managed to reach the top of the shelf. the archives were stored a huge room and, despite the irreproachable tidying of the place, finding a five years old record was harder than what you predicted. hence, after finding the right aisle and the right shelving, you had discovered that, because he died in january, wonwoo’s file was on the twelfth level.
"why didn’t you die in december woo? or better, why didn’t you die at all?" you had mumbled before looking around for a ladder.
but now, as you heart started to beat faster, you knew you weren’t far from your goal. sitting down in a corner of the room, you opened the folder, a hand on your pendant, when your hopeful smile dropped : despite the death certificate and the witnesses’s testimonies, the file was empty. you were back to square one. sighing deeply, you reasoned yourself. if your brother’s register was empty, it only meant that his murderer was way more influential than what you anticipated and probably more powerful than your brother.
while you were replacing the different boxes that helped you to reach his record, you heard an almost inaudible sound. your entire body froze on the spot and, after five long seconds, you walked toward the doors of the archives. suddenly, a shadow appeared in front of you. pulling your sword out swiftly, you got out of room.
"oh my god y/n don’t scare me like that!" the stranger screamed.
lowering your blade, you found a frightened soonyoung and an unfazed hansol.
"oh, sorry soonyoung, i got scared," you joked sheepishly.
"it’s okay y/n, i kinda deserved it," the major general added.
"note to myself, never scaring you ever," hansol teased.
"what are you still doing here anyway? weren’t you supposed to go back to your brigade? did you have something to look at in the archives?" the older man asked, overwhelming you with questions.
"well, i was but… something came up, you quickly answered before retorting, but what about you? you should be enjoying the astronomical buffet, shouldn’t you?"
"we were, but jihoon asked us to go get him his planner."
preventing yourself from raising your eyebrows in surprise at hansol’s dubious explaining, you content yourself with a single nod, perfectly aware that the advisor would rather die than letting someone getting their hands on his planner. with a laugh, you cut the conversation short :
"great, then i’ll leave you there. see you next month!"
"yeah, see you and again, congrats for the first place," hansol complimented.
"yes, you really are the greatest! soonyoung cheered, not many people could pull off first place five times in a row, but nothing new from a jeon, right?"
and, after a giggle, you turned around and walked away, your smile fading away instantly.

walking toward your apartment, you looked up in order to recover your concentration. the moment you had left the imperial palace, you had felt a presence in your back. the moment your foot was on the pavement to the moment you were sat in the chair of your office, you had felt those two piercing eyes and now, as you were finally going home, you felt them again, lying in wait and ready to attack at the slightest opportunity.
this little game carried on for a entire week, forcing you to change your opinion on your mysterious hunter. thus, what you mistook as miscalculation was actually made on purpose. you also had to admire the abilities of the person who was following you. they certainly weren’t an amateur, being able to chase you without any interruption for so long. you easily guessed that they intentionally made their presence known, as if they wanted you to feel like a trapped animal. but they underestimated you. if they wanted a mistake, it wouldn’t come from you. you were a marshal and started like every soldier enrolled into the former republic military school. you were used to track someone and were even more used to being tracked. if you wanted this hunt to end, it’d be with a confrontation.
hence, after checking with a quick glance that the street was empty, you stopped in your tracks.
"don’t you think this little game lasted long enough? come show me your face now, unless you’re too much of a coward," you whispered with a mocking tone.
you were about to think that your mocking wasn’t enough until you felt the switch in the air. the moment the blade struck, you drew your sabre to block the attack, a smirk on your lips. teasing was such an easy way.
"do you actually realise that attacking me isn’t a classic infraction?" you asked with disdain.
following the weapon with the eyes, you responded with an offensive and managed to disarm your opponent. pushing them against the wall, you hit them in the stomach.
"tell me who you are now," you ordered, your blade against his throat.
that’s when your assailant’s hood fell from their head. your heart missed a beat when his delicate features appeared, his beautiful brown hair slightly messy. and when your eyes met, you instantly knew who it was : yoon jeonghan, the greatest assassin of the entire empire. your enemy must be really powerful to be able to afford his services.
"i am your worst nightmare," the young man introduced himself with a seductive smile.
"you are an absolute pain in the ass," you deadpanned.
this wasn’t what you expected but might be your lucky day after all : if this man was at your heels, it meant you weren’t far from the responsible persons behind wonwoo’s death. plus, being able to catch this assassin would be an amazing help for the entire empire.
"it kills me to tell you this but, as a citizen of the montefeltro empire, you are holder of the right to remain silent and have access to a lawyer. you’ll be heard by a fair trial for your act-"
"-ions and will be able to receive an adjudication from an impartial judge," jeonghan completed.
"it seems you knew your fall was near," you teased, arching an eyebrow.
"maybe, but before you’re doing anything, i’d advice you to listen to me."
"and why would i listen to the most searched assassin of the empire?"
"because i am seeking revenge, just like you. i want this whole ridiculous system to collapse and i want to attend it in the front row."
"again, why would i listen to you? you’re not a trustworthy person," you observed.
"because you have nobody else to talk to and because everyone here can have a blade behind their back," jeonghan replied with a smirk.
"so? you mumbled, what makes you think you’re any different from them?"
"because my blade is right in front of you, sweetheart, and i swear i won’t use it on you. plus, i can provide you inestimable help," the young man retorted.
bitting your lips, your slight hesitation was enough for him to grab you tightly by the shoulders and switch your positions. your back hit the wall because of the abruptness of his movements but his hands wrapped themselves around your neck, preventing your head to do the same. widening your eyes, you couldn’t even curse you for losing your focus that you already felt his grip dropping.
"don’t you want to know who you’re truly working for, marshal jeon?" jeonghan asked.
giving him a death stare, you let go of your sabre and sighed. realistically, he wasn’t wrong. he was untrustworthy, just like everyone else in the empire for the moment. you didn’t have a single track or clue and didn’t know who was your ally or your enemy. he might represent everything you work against but he was also your best option for the time being.
"i work with you. but i’m warning you : if you ever betray me, your head will be rolling on the floor."
"you make it sounds so romantic," the brown hair man teased with a smirk.
and, as his silhouette started to fade into the darkness of the night, you didn’t know if you just started to dig your own grave.

the following day at your brigade felt like a whole nightmare. everyone became a potential enemy and you started to make a list of the persons you suspected before starting to be racked by guilt. they were your colleagues, your subordinates and, for some of them, old classmates. contemplating them as targets didn’t feel right. but, as jeonghan’s words resonated inside your head, you couldn’t even refute him. everyone can carry a blade behind their back because, as far as you went, you never trusted anyone else than your brother and your instincts, remorse shouldn’t change that. and now that he wasn’t here anymore, you could only count on your guts and a dubious assassin.
twisting your pendant pensively, you didn’t even flinch when a shadow entered into your office. giving a death stare to the young assassin slouched into your sofa, you groaned :
"would you at least remove your dirty shoes from my sofa? velvet is a living hell to clean."
"i didn’t picture you as the inflexible type," jeonghan retorted with an arched eyebrow.
grabbing a blade on your desk, you sent it toward his face. without much effort, the young man caught it midair and you repeated :
"i said, remove your shoes from my sofa."
"no wonder you’re still single," he replied with an exaggerated roll of the eyes.
when the young man finally executed himself, you observed :
"i hope you’re not here to debate about my relationship status because i actually have a lot of work and not a lot of spare time to grant you so make it quick."
"i prefer when it lasts at least three rounds but i can make an exception for you, doll."
the moment you raised your second dagger, jeonghan chuckled, his hands up in the air as if he was surrounding :
"okay okay i get it, no more jokes about what’s going on under the blanket."
straightening his posture, the atmosphere of the room dropped when he locked his gaze in yours.
"i hope you know we’re inevitably going to kick over the traces, marshal, he started, our adversaries aren’t just some high ranked members of the armed forces but the government as a whole."
"what do you mean?" you asked, slowly swallowing.
sure you knew you were going after the big fishes after your investigation in the imperial archives, but you didn’t except that the entire government would have been involved.
"the great war of decline was a mere pretext for seungcheol’s father and his partisans to organise a coup d’état and overthrow the republic."
your eyes widened at his words. no… this couldn’t be true?
"you… you’re saying that they started the war just to hide their coup and cover it up as a legal take-over? they sacrificed thousands of lives for some power?" you guessed, unable to hide your anger.
"power is an inestimable thing, marshal, jeonghan retorted, even ordinary people would kill their neighbours for some more influence."
bitting your lips before moistening them, you sighed, resigned :
"okay, so be it, our whole empire is built on lies and corpses, but in what way is it linked to wonwoo?"
"i think wonwoo was involved in this total venture."
"what did you say?" you asked, tightening the grip on your guard.
the next second, the both of you were above your desk, you sabre at the base of his jaw and his dagger pointing at your heart. glaring at him, you carried on :
"are you implying that my brother is linked to the coup d’état which is responsible of the fall of an entire outsider country and the deaths of thousands of innocents? i advice you to be careful with your words, yoon."
"i’m not foolish enough to bring the wrath of the youngest marshal of the empire," the young man whispered sweetly.
acting as one, you both dropped your weapons but you insisted :
"wonwoo would never have been alongside the silent partner of this plot. my brother was a honest man inherently good. i’m sure there is another reason to explain his death."
"maybe, but you can’t put aside the fact that he was somehow involved, even the hypothetical idea of him being a spy for another organisation is worth considering."
when your gaze darken, he hastily added grumpily :
"i’m talking to you as a fair and impartial judge, marshal, not to the little sister who idolises her brother."
"please, don’t tell me you’re jealous of my admiration for my brother," you scoffed.
"and what if i was?" jeonghan answered back.
"then i’d definitely tell you that it shouldn’t affect you this much. i’m a marshal, remember? your entire existence is what i working against."
you thought that he’d come back with another witty barb but couldn’t help but raised your eyebrows in surprise when his smirk flattened.
"you sure have a smart mouth, marshal," were his last words before he flew outside the window, as furtively as when he came in.
you didn’t even get the time to say a word that, at the same moment, a knock on your door rang out.

for the second time in a row, you waited eagerly for the next meeting at the imperial palace. now that you knew you had to deal with hugest problems than what you originally envisaged. you had hoped this matter would have stay within the corps of the imperial armed forces. this place was an absolute playground for you. since soonyoung and you were the only marshals of the empire, the fact that you were one of the two holder of the highest-ranking title in the military hierarchy made you practically untouchable. you wouldn’t have had any issue finding the responsible of wonwoo’s death and would have executed them on the spot. but if this mess also involved state officers, this would be way harder.
thus, when your district ranked first for the sixth time consecutively, you received praises and compliments with a bright smile and, when people called you marshal jeon, it felt like they were applauding both your brother and you. you wanted to laugh hysterically at their hypocrisy and execute them all but you knew better than to act hastily. you couldn’t kill anyone yet as long as their guilt hadn’t been exposed.
when the little assembly left for the traditional banquet, you sped up to catch on jihoon. he was your first suspect after seungcheol and you needed to get closer to him. you managed to be seated next to him during the whole meal. despite his cold features and stern gaze, jihoon and you used to get along well. as the most efficient soldier, jihoon had recognised your worth a long time ago and your conversations had gone past niceties. he had even invited you numerous times at chess game parties you all had rejected in the past. but now, things had changed. hence your eager response when the young advisor suggested a chess game after lunch.
"i’d be more than grateful to share a game with you, advisor lee," you had answered.
"oh please, y/n, you can call me jihoon after all this time," the young man had assured.
"we both know each other since ages and you always refuse me calling you jihoon," soonyoung, who had been eavesdropped, had groaned.
"that is because you’re infuriating and noisy," jihoon had deadpanned before inviting you to follow him in his office.
sat face to face, you couldn’t ignore the tension in the room when you asked, as you moved the first piece :
"do you remember much about wonwoo?"
you instantly guessed than jihoon knew that your unusual consent for a chess game was led by some other kinds of motivations than the pleasure of competition and that your question was far from the one he had expected. he finally answered after moving his pawn :
"wonwoo was an exceptional soldier and a great friend during high school time. we were more similar than i thought at first and, as time passed by, i became comfortable in his presence. we only parted ways because we had different ambitions."
"wonwoo was really secretive so i’ve never heard a lot about his time in high school, you confessed, he only accepted to tell me anecdotes from the republican military school because i wanted to go there too."
"that’s funny how you both decided to take the same path. and to be as remarkable as the other," the young man praised.
"like brother like sister, i guess. i’ve always walked not so far away from wonwoo’s footsteps."
your remark hit the nail on the head and jihoon raised his cold gaze to meet your eyes.
"are you implying something else, y/n?"
"why? do you feel threatened?" you responded with a sweet smile.
"if i were you, i’d be more careful about my surroundings and start being concerned about the things i should and shouldn’t follow."
a heavy silence followed his words and, after moving your queen, you chuckled :
"i don’t know what you’re talking about, jihoon, i was only referring to chess. wonwoo used to win so many tournaments, just like i did. and now, i made a checkmate."
colours left jihoon’s already pale face and the young man giggled shakily :
"i think i got carried away, sorry y/n. this was a very interesting game, come back again when you have some time to kill, okay?"
"oh it’d be an incommensurable pleasure, you assured, but before that, i need to eliminate a bigger problem."
and just like that, you left the room, your queen and bishop surrounding jihoon’s king.

"what the fuck is wrong with you?"
this were the first words jeonghan addressed after three weeks without seeing each other. sometimes, you felt his gaze on your back but, as time went on, you got used to his presence, making your life less lonely. but the moments his eyes weren’t on you anymore, you had the bitter reminder that jeonghan was an assassin who had to kill for a living and that your feeling of company was just an illusion. he was -for lack of better words- your partner, nothing more, nothing less.
but right now, as your back was pressed against the wall of the dirtiest alley and jeonghan’s blade on your jaw, the overall climate wasn’t right for sentimentality. flames were burning in his piercing gaze but, despite his anger, you noticed he still placed his hands behind the back of your neck to prevent your head from hitting the wall.
locking your gaze in his, you answered :
"i’m threatening this whole system, isn’t it what you wanted?"
"i asked for revenge, he corrected, not for you to be killed like wonwoo and m-"
"i won’t get killed, you cut, if you want things to move, you need to take actions. words won’t change a single thing."
"i know but it doesn’t mean you have to be reckless, we have plenty of time."
"probably but it’s by catching them off guard that we’ll win," you argued.
"maybe, but theoretically i’m still contractually linked to them. i don’t want them to understand that i’m involved with your little schemes."
"if you’re unhappy with my methods, you’re free to go find another marshal thirsty for revenge and the truth," you mocked, opening your arms.
"you really are the must stubborn marshal i’ve ever met," jeonghan chuckled while brushing his hair with his hand.
lowering his gaze on your lips, you breathed shakily. you hated this silly reaction and, after striking his chest with your fist to hide the blush on your cheeks, you replied with a pout :
"i thought you knew where you were getting yourself into."
"yet, i still didn’t get to be into you."
"and for the record, i actually don’t give a damn about my safety, which shouldn’t be your personal concern," you added, struggling to ignore his remark.
"it shouldn’t but, despite everything, it is. so please, be careful."
the seriousness and the controlled anger in his tone surprised you but, you didn’t even get the time to tease him about it that he was already walking away.
"but go on, do whatever your pretty face wants. i know i won’t manage to convince you and i never fight for anyone else anyway."
rolling your eyes at the pet name, you decided to walk toward wonwoo’s apartment.
who knows? maybe you’d be able to find more evidences. if wonwoo managed to guess that the war had been planned in order to hide a coup d’état, he might have left some evidences or clues to help you. with a sigh, you frowned at the idea that your brother was fighting on his own and didn’t tell you a single word about it. and you felt even more miserable for having been unaware of his private investigations. what you told jihoon was the truth, your brother was an evasive person. he didn’t tell you much, always going by the motto that actions speak louder than words but still, you wished he let you into the secret. and now, you were in the dark.
apparently, you were in the dark and rather rusty because, you didn’t noticed the presences behind your back until you reached wonwoo’s old apartment. waiting for mingyu to open the door, you drew your sabre when the familiar clicking of the blade echoed before striking.
"you’re more careless than i thought, soonyoung."
in front of you were standing soonyoung, a wide grin across the face, and jihoon, his face as unreadable as ever. your blades banged into one another and you asked with a derisive tone :
"to what do i owe the honour?"
"it seems like our promising little marshal is peering her nose into something that is far from her business," the other marshal teased back.
"a matter that is way too crucial for her understanding," jihoon added with a somber look.
"sure, the death of thousands and the establishment of an illegitimate empire is indeed very crucial," you mocked.
in the same time, the door behind you opened. after a quick glance, you ordered to mingyu :
"mingyu stay inside! you aren’t safe here."
"why do you say that?"
your blood pressure dropped when he continued, his voice dramatically changed from concern to satisfaction :
"they are my friends, i have no reason to be scared. you on the other hand…"
you only got the time to turn around when you receive a brutal blow on the temple and darkness took over.

when you opened your eyes, you felt the same pain in the back of your neck you had felt a month ago at wonwoo’s grave. your head was pounding like crazy and your arms and feet were tied up to a tree. you could feel the ground underneath you and, after noticing the humid air and on your pants, you guessed they brought you far away into the woods.
"well well well, it seems the pretty doll is finally awake," a voice cooed on your left.
slowly opening your eyes, you mumbled :
"you could at least have the decency to put a pillow under my butt, those uniforms are a living hell to clean."
"you wanna outsmart us now, you insufferable little brat?" mingyu giggled, the full height of his height crushing you.
"what about you? you are a fucking traitor! wonwoo trusted you and you betrayed him for some power? you asked disdainfully, please, i don’t want to outsmart you, there isn’t any competition."
mingyu scoffed at your words and started to deride your brother :
"wonwoo was an idiot. brilliant, kind, strong but an idiot. he really fooled us until the end but then…"
putting a hand on his face, he scoffed haughtily and a wide grin appeared on his face when he kept going :
"i didn’t betray him, he shot himself in the foot. your brother was clever but so stupid, typical behaviour from a hero. the day he was about to ruin everything, i found him in his room. he never ever questioned my allegiance to some idealistic values and had the intention to leave me a letter, a letter."
coming closer, he grabbed your chin between his fingers and mocked :
"he was telling me that he understood that the empire was responsible for the war and did it to hide their coup. he knew he was going to die and asked me to keep you safe, do you believe that? when i would be the one to execute him."
a raging scream escaped your lips and you tried to free yourself from the shackles, soonyoung’s laugh ringing in your ears.
"you’re a pathetic piece of garbage, you shoot, how could you possibly betray and kill your friend? you deserve to root in hell, you fucking coward!"
instantly, you received a blow in your right cheek and another in the belly. aversion twisted your stomach when you felt his hand gentle stroking your head.
"you know, i don’t take a great deal of pleasure in this, mingyu scolded you, you were like a little sister to me, i really wanted to protect you. but you had to believe in your brother’s abilities and stick your nose into someone else’s business."
his warm smile dropped immediately to show the cruelest expression you ever saw on mingyu’s face. an expression you never thought you’d ever see at all.
"you really do look like your brother. wonwoo had the same face when i killed him."
when mingyu got up in order to grab you didn’t even know what, you started to look around desperately. panic started to spread all over your body when you realised that you couldn’t see anything but mist and trees as far as your eyes could see. when the sound of the blade against the sheath, you knew this was the end.
you wouldn’t be able to escape. you wouldn’t be able to show the truth to the world. you wouldn’t be able to get revenge for wonwoo and bring the truth on his death. when mingyu lifted his blade, your last thought was about jeonghan and his insufferable grin. he’ll probably make fun of your recklessness when the news of your death will come out. closing your eyes, you scoffed internally, unable to believe that he was the last person in your mind before dying.
but the pain never came. instead, a croaky scream escaped mingyu’s lips. opening your eyes, you discovered with terror a blade stabbing his heart. a single drop of blood fell on your face and, the next moment, your arms were free.
"j- jeonghan?" you murmured incredulously.
"you can kiss me when we’ll get out of here, sweetheart, but now i need you to help me kill those two bastards," the young man answered, trowing a sword toward you.
catching it midair, you ran toward soonyoung. you were still disoriented by how things turned out but this wasn’t the time for questions. thankfully, you hadn’t been the first one to be confused by jeonghan’s arrival. soonyoung stopped your blade in extremis with the sheath of his sword before pushing you away with his foot.
"i’ve always wanted to face up the youngest marshal of the empire," the young man laughed.
"then this is your lucky day : you will face her and die from her hand."
launching yourself straight toward him, the sounds of the blades knocking together resonated in the woods. taking a deep breath, you swept away the sweat on your forehead and fought back again. soonyoung’s endurance was the no match against the five leaders of the districts but your technique was beyond his. all the times he managed to dodge your attacks occurred thanks to his strength core and his agility. but he’ll get tired quicker than you.
from the back of your head, you could hear jeonghan and jihoon’s confrontation and you had to force yourself to prevent yourself from looking at him. jeonghan was an amazing fighter but the young advisor wasn’t outdone.
finally, you managed to make soonyoung fall. sending his sword far away, you straddled his torso and blocked his arms.
"you fucking bitch," the young man groaned while struggling.
striking the pommel of your sword to knock him down, you growled :
"this one is for my abduction."
and finally, as you hammered your sword in his heart, you added :
"and this one is for wonwoo."

still on soonyoung’s corpse, you couldn’t lift any finger. your state surprised you as much as it upset you. you had gone on the battlefield, you had killed thousands of soldiers and almost got abducted once but hadn’t been as miserable as now. a reassuring hand stroked your hair softly and jeonghan whispered :
"it’s finally over."
raising your head, your gaze was still lost when you asked :
"why did you save me? i thought you never fought for anyone else."
"’cause i don’t. but you’re not anyone else, you’re the other half of me."
a tear started to roll on your cheek at his words. and another. tears were rolling down like a river while jeonghan’s fingers rushed themselves to heal your bruises and cuts.
"after i drop you at your apartment, i’ll kill this asshole of an emperor myself," jeonghan mumbled lugubriously.
"don’t."
a silence followed your word, jeonghan’s tense hand still up in the air.
"why wouldn’t i? he asked, slightly on edge, i know he is extremely powerful but he has to pay for what he did to you, to your brother, to his country, to all the innocents."
"i know. but we have trials and institutions for that," you argued.
"corrupted trials, you mean," jeonghan corrected heatedly.
"not all trials! you feuded, listen, if we act hastily another organisation could easily overpower us and we’d go back to step one."
"weren’t you the one who wanted to catch them off guard?"
"yes, but things changed!"
"i don’t see how they are any different from few hours ago."
"they changed because three men died because of this mess. and if i am the one who was begging to act faster, weren’t you the one who scolded me for my so called recklessness?"
"this is none of your business!"
"as long as we are partners, this is completely my business! why are you so eager to kill seungcheol?"
"because- because i need to get revenge for my friend. and this can’t be done unless i kill this asshole myself."
jeonghan’s breath became less steady and he confessed :
"i used to have a friend, minghao, who also died during the war. we grew up in the streets after the collapse of our orphanage. the fucking republic never did anything good to us so, when the government asked for all the eligible men to join the army, i refused but he didn’t. he joined the armed forces because he believed in freedom. because he believed in the safety of civilians’ lives. because he believed our younger-selves would have wished for this kind of help. and he got killed."
"i- i am really sorry to hear that," you whispered sheepishly.
"when i got the order to kill you, i followed you a whole week to know your habits but you reminded me of him : he was honest, true to himself and an insufferable little shit that i’ve never been able to manipulate. just like you."
"so you refused to kill me out in remembrance of good old days?" you asked with an arched eyebrow.
"no, i refused to kill you because i love you."
and, the next second, his lips were on you. the kiss had a weird taste, a mixture of tears, dust and you-didn’t-know/want-to-know’s blood. yet, the kiss also held hope and warm and, for the first time since wonwoo’s death, your feeling of loneliness finally vanished.

when your office’s door opened, you froze before laughing :
"i’m sorry but i still can’t get used to see you in the military uniform."
in front of you was standing jeonghan, dressed in the uniform from the republican military school, ready to walk you home.
"i had to, since you told me you have a soft spot for men in uniform," the young man sighed, unable to hide his smirk.
standing up, you wrapped your arms around jeonghan’s shoulder while his hands found their place on your hips. and, as his lips softly pressed themselves against yours, you felt a weird feeling of nostalgia spreading inside you.
you remembered the day you had finally managed to gather enough evidence to prove the empire’s implication in the war after searching for hours in jihoon, soonyoung and mingyu’s offices.
you remembered the day you had finally testified at seungcheol’s hearing to bring justice to wonwoo’s death.
you remembered the day you had finally announced to your brother that you had put an end to his suffering and that he could finally rest in peace.
you remembered the day you had sworn to jeonghan that you’ll wait for him after his sentencing by the criminal court.
you remembered the day you had embraced him when he had finally ended his sentence two years later.
you remembered the day you had refused the suggestion of the high court of justice to become the new ruler of the country.
you remembered the day you had become the head of the republican armed forces.
but most importantly, you remembered the day jeonghan had announced that he’ll join the armed forces. "this way, i’ll be able to work legally with you. and i think it’d make ’hao happy."
when you finally gathered all your belongings, jeonghan solemnly moved aside and, with a swing of the arm, invited you :
"after you, marshal jeon."
rolling your eyes, you moaned :
"don’t call me like this."
"okay okay, sorry. after you, sweetheart."
and, with a final kiss on your temple, you both left to your home.
a/n pt 2 : if you managed to go throughout this fic until here, thank you so so much. please tell me your opinion, it’d mean a lot to me!

“Silly pranks.” — Yoon Jeonghan

⸝⸝୭ ˚. fluff . soft . pinch of angst
⋆ pairings : jeonghan x f!reader ⋆ warning : none! (let me know if there is ^^) ⋆ wc : 0.8k [✉️] · never in a million years, did Jeonghan think that you can get mad at his silly pranks.
⋆ - note : I SWEAR THERE IS BASICALLY NO ANGST. angst is not for me chat, im sorry 😟 bcz believe me or not, i WILL find a way to add full fluff to an angsty story bcz thats just how i am and im not the strongest to see a whole depressing story unfold before my eyes knowing i can fix it 😔😔

Jeonghan knew you never got mad at his silly pranks; instead, you went along with them.
It was the weekend, so Jeonghan and the boys had a day off. You had left early in the morning for somewhere important, and Jeonghan could not help but sulk about it. You had not even told him before leaving; he found out by calling you. He tried calling the members to see if anyone was free to hang out, but everyone was preoccupied with their own work.
And Yoon Jeonghan always wants to be entertained, which right now, he wasn't.
That is how, just like any other day, he had pulled a prank on you. What he didn't expect though, is that he was gonna regret every bit of it later.
You had called Jeonghan to let him know you would be back around 4 p.m., which was the perfect time to carry out his plan. It was not particularly unique; all he was going to do was jump out of nowhere and scare you.
It didn't take long for you to arrive home.
"Hannie, I'm ho—"
"BOO!!!"
You flinch and scream, dropping your bag to the ground. Jeonghan let out an evil giggle.
"Yoon Jeonghan! I'm gonna kill you one day!" With a shout, you grab your bag and head to your shared bedroom. Jeonghan just stood there, astounded, staring at you as you hurried off. He quickly realised he messed up, and hastily trailed behind you.
"Baby!" he called out, following you to your bedroom. "Baby, are you mad? I'm sorry—" You shut the door on his face, causing him to pause and pout.
"Baby..." he whined, fidgeting on the doorknob and pouting. "I'm sorry, I had no intention to make you mad, trust me!" He said, followed by silence, as he hoped you would hear him and open the door, but you did not.
He sighed, looking down at the floor. To stop the tear that was about to fall down his cheek, he took a deep breath. He had no idea you would get mad, you've never gotten mad at him before.
He walked slowly over to the couch and threw himself down, sinking into the fabric. "I'm sorry..." He mumbled to himself and stared at the locked bedroom door.
Hours passed, and Jeonghan was still waiting for you, pouting. His face lit up as the door unlocked, revealing you. He leaped from the couch and came running toward you as soon as you entered the kitchen.
He followed you like a puppy, calling you "Baby," as you reached to open the refrigerator. "Please don't be mad, I just wanted to do a harmless prank."
His shoulders slumped as he followed you around the kitchen, not receiving a response. He frowned when he noticed you take a frozen snack from the fridge.
"Why are you gonna eat that? I made you your favourite dish with the help of a guide book."
"I don't want to eat it."
You knew you were being petty, but you couldn't help it. And a part of you also wanted to see THE Yoon Jeonghan being a simp for you.
"Why not...!" He whined, wrapping his arms around your torso from behind, snuggling his forehead against your neck and stomping his feet.
"Do you know how long it took me to cook that? I nearly burned down the kitchen." He spoke, his voice cracking at the end of the sentence. He was not about to cry—actually, he was—but he despised the idea of you being so angry at him that you refused to eat his food.
When you heard his voice falter, you snapped to attention as he fixed his gaze on your shoulder. His eyes were clear of tears, but his bottom lip was stuck out in a huge pout as he absent-mindedly traced patterns on your stomach with his fingers.
With wide puppy eyes, he gazed at you when you fully turned to face him. You smile and extend your arms for him to hug you. His eyes widen, his face brightens, and he squeals before squeezing closer to you and resting his head on your shoulder.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you mad." His voice muffled by your shirt, he apologized.
"It's okay, I'm sorry too." You coo as you pat his back. "I overreacted anyways, you were just doing a silly little prank."
"I promise I won't prank you ever again."
"Why not? I love your pranks." You frowned, and Jeonghan smiled against your shirt.
"Baby," he mumbled. "Can I get a kiss?" he asked quietly. Right now, you would want nothing more than to kiss his pout away.
You smile and gently cup his cheek, lifting his head off your shoulder before leaning in for a kiss on his lips. His smile was softer than usual, definitely not the teasing kind he was known for right now.
"I'm sorry, again."
"Don't be, it's not your fault." You peck his lips again, and just as you were about to pull back, Jeonghan leaned in and kissed your lips again, this time sweetly and deeply.
The fact that you could feel his gentleness and sincerity in the kiss was enough to convince you that he never wants to make you mad again.

“jeonghan?”
“it’s past eleven. lover duties are over,” he grumbles sleepily. but he still opens his eyes to catch you huff at him, and pats your face lazily. “what is it?”
you sigh deeply, peering at him over the edge of the blanket which you’ve tucked right up to your chin. “i was just thinking.”
“was it hard?” he coos sympathetically, snickering when you lightly shove him away, offended.
“you’re being mean.”
jeonghan cups your cheeks, still smiling as he kisses your forehead apologetically. “okay, i’m sorry, my love,” he soothes. “go on. i’m listening.”
your arms stretch out a little, waving them above your curled up figures as you speak, all drawn-out — “i was just thinking…”
“mm.” he can tell you’re getting to a stage of tiredness nearing delirium. it’s cute, how hard you’re trying to force your eyes open and not slur your words.
“do you even like me?”
whatever jeonghan was expecting, it sure as hell wasn’t that. the question throws him for a loop, and he sits up in bed to look down at you properly, trying to understand if you’re serious. “there’s no way,” he says finally, “that you’re actually thinking about this.”
“i just meant — ”
“the tiredness has gone to your head.”
you’re smiling suddenly, because that’s all the answer you really needed. you feel silly for asking the question in the first place — a momentary lapse in judgement.
jeonghan, however, is still reeling. “do you even like me,” he repeats to himself, scoffing. “weren’t you there?”
“where?”
“at our wedding. where i married you.”
“kind of, but — ”
“i didn’t kind of marry you!”
“okay, okay, i’m sorry!” you explode, giggling at his expression of absolute increduloty.
he lies back down, finally. muttering again — “do i like you. what a fucking question. i’m literally in love with you.”
“i’m sorry,” you say, wrapping your arms around him with a smile, “i was being stupid. i just wanted to hear it!”
“i told you, like, ten times today!”
“one more. pleease.”
jeonghan sighs and smooths a hand against your forehead, softening against you. “i love you and like you and everything. just go to sleep now.”
satisfied, you curl against him. “i love and like and everything you too. goodnight, baby.”

an / just a very small very terrible thing because i can’t sleep 😨 one day i will write something better today is not that day

Game Night - Yoon Jeonghan

Synopsis: Jeonghan was the type of guy who joked around, the type to be not so serious. I guess that's why you never took his flirting to be anything more than him trying to get you to laugh. Jeonghan was now determined to make you see differently.
Pairing: Yoon Jeonghan x fem reader
Genre: friends to lovers! playful competitiveness with Jeonghan
Word Count: 1.8k
——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
"So, y/n, what are the chances of you letting me be yours for the night?" Jeonghan asked teasingly. "Maybe when you learn to stop cheating at Guess Who!" You groaned.
It was a typical Sunday night for you and Jeonghan. You two always had game nights together, ever since you can remember. Both of you were quite competitive, so you were equal competitors for one another. At this point, most of the members have given up on playing against Jeonghan anyways.
Jeonghan and you had become good friends over the past few years. However, you never believed Jeonghan was into you. He sometimes liked to flirt with people because he thrived on making people feel uncomfortable for a second before making them laugh. He definitely was a trickster.
Recently though, Jeonghan didn't see his flirting towards you as just teasing. He was starting to realize he was starting to like you. More than a friend. It took a lot to scare Jeonghan but what scared him the most was you ever finding out about his little secret. If anything, he amplified his flirting with you to try to keep his crush concealed for a little bit longer.
He was sure he would tell you eventually. He just didn't know when.
"I can't help that you are bad at dropping hints. Seriously, y/n. You make it too easy for me!"
You rolled your eyes at Jeonghan's antics. To anyone, they might find his confidence insufferable. However, to you, you found it endearing. Jeonghan was the man who could be silent when he needed to be, especially when encountering new experiences and new people. When he was comfortable and relaxed, he let his true colors shine.
You were just blessed to be one of the lucky ones who got to experience his entire rainbow.
"Okay, let's actually play this time. Honest and fair." "Honest and fair."
I his mind, the gears were turning. Sure, he wanted to win the game but he had an alternative motive. A lot was on the line.
"Have you selected who I am going to guess right?" You asked challengingly.
Jeonghan rolled his eyes playfully but he couldn't wipe the smile off his face. Whenever he was around you, he found himself smiling brighter than ever before. You just managed to pull that side out of him oh so easily.
He also has never encountered someone who was maybe just as competitive as he was.
"Yeah, angel. I'm ready to watch you get frustrated. You're really cute when you get flustered, you know? I always love the way your nose scrunches up and you get a bit red in the face." "That doesn't happen,' you lied. "Oh right, it doesn't when it is with anyone else. I guess I just have that effect over you," he snickered.
You could feel your cheeks heating up the more he spoke. It didn't help he was staring you down with that smug grin on his face.
God, why does he have to be so damn attractive?
"Shut up," you muttered. "Let's just play, ok?"
He leaned back in the chair, arms crossed over his chest. He was easily amused by how easily he could make you crumble.
One of the very first things that Jeonghan noticed about you was how independent you were. You weren't afraid to call people out on their bullshit, and always felt the freedom to voice your opinion. You weren't the type of person who needed to rely on others to do something.
It was quite the treat to watch you lose your train of thought if he just looked at you. You often forgot what you were going to say the moment Jeonghan said something flirtatious to you. He almost didn't register the possibility of you liking him back until he noticed how you looked away to try to conceal the wide smile on your lips and pink blush coating your cheeks.
The two of you have been doing this waltz around confessing your feelings for a while now. And frankly, Jeonghan was getting tired of playing that game. He wanted something new.
"Pretty ladies first," Jeonghan announced.
There you go again, blushing at his words. It was almost too easy.
"Does your person have facial hair?"
He took a moment to act as if he he had to think about it. You raised an eyebrow, knowing that he was up to something but you couldn't quite put your finger on it.
"Oh come on, Hannie, we just started. There's no way you forgot already who your character is," you teased.
His heart fluttered every time you called him that petname. A lot of people called him Hannie. But when you say it? It was music to his ears. It made him feel all warm and tingly at the prospective of him being exclusively yours and you being all his.
"No, my character doesn't. I was just trying to make you annoyed again," he snickered.
You rolled your eyes but kept a light smile on your lips. Anyone else would be underneath your skin, but he just had this way of finding his antics endearing. Your pointer finger got to work at flipping down the 8 characters you successfully eliminated.
"So, my sweet girl," he began. Oh, here we go. "Does your character have glasses?"
You smirked as he guessed incorrectly. You looked up at him with this look of amusement on your face. Honestly, he has never found you more attractive than when you let your competitive side free. He liked a challenge.
And getting to be your man was his greatest challenge yet.
"No strike, buddy. Better luck next time."
You and Jeonghan continued going back and forth like this for a few rounds. Jeonghan had still had six character cards flipped up, whereas you only had one. You were about to go in for the kill.
"Is your person Charlotte?"
Finally! You beat Jeonghan!
"Oh, I'm sorry. That's incorrect," he smirked.
Your eyes grew wide as they flickered between the game board and Jeonghan. That was impossible. You had literally one character card left. Your eyes narrowed on him as he just sat there with a wide grin on his lips. He had his elbows resting on the table as he watched I amusement.
"You said honest and fair this time," you whined. "And I have been honest! You were asking for my person, and all the things you were asking did not match up with who I selected." "Oh really now? Okay smartass, prove it."
Gladly.
Very slowly, Jeonghan got up to make his way over to you. You raised an eyebrow, but with each step he took towards you, your heart beats faster and harder. What was he doing? You wanted to question him but you were drawn speechless. Again. Only Yoon Jeonghan could make you tongue-tied. It was as if you were glued to your seat too as you watched him make the short journey from his end of the table towards yours.
"I'll describe my person to you. Maybe you accidentally flipped them down."
His voice was now softer, almost deeper. What is going on? All you could do was nod your head, eyes trained on him in anticipation.
"My person also has these eyes that quite literally are like two disco balls. They capture whatever light is reflected into them. I can't even tell you what color their eyes are because I've never see a shade like it before. But it is my favorite color." He had now approached your side the table, leaning against it as he looked down at you. "And just as bright of a smile to match."
You wanted to melt into a puddle before him with how warm and fuzzy he makes you feel by just doing the simplest of things. It wasn't fair.
"My person has long hair. Sometimes they curl it, somewhat they straighten it. Each time though, I want to run my fingers through it."
As he spoke, he lifted on hand to run through your hair. He tucked a few strands behind your ear. His fingertips moved forward until they grazed against your cheek. He didn't miss the opportunity to cup your cheek, keeping your head tilted up towards him so you couldn't look away no matter how badly you got flustered.
"My person also has this infectious laughter that makes me want to know every little joke, every little secret they might have. She also has this adventurous, competitive side of her that is so attractive. I think you two would get along just fine," he winked.
Your lips were slightly parted as you gazed up at him. This had to be a dream, right? There was no way this was actually happening.
"Y/n, you asked for my person. It's been you this whole time," he whispered.
For the first time, he seemed almost at a loss for words. It as if he couldn't believe he actually confessed to you. And now that his feelings were out in the open, he was afraid of the repercussions of being so vulnerable with you. His biggest fear was losing you, and he was afraid he was heading in that direction.
Slowly, you stood up. In fear, Jeonghan removed his hand from your face. Fuck, how can I fix this?
Instead, you wrapped your arms around his neck, and he didn't hesitate to hold your waist. He looked at you with excitement now in eyes, almost like a little boy on Christmas Day. You couldn't help but giggle at how adorable he looked.
"What are you waiting for, Hannie? You've got me where you've always wanted to me," you whispered.
He didn't need to be told twice. Ever so gently, as if you were made out of glass, he pressed his lips against yours. He couldn't fight the smile that grew on his lips. He squeezed your hips affectionately before pulling you in closer. You tilted your head at the right angle to kiss him deeply, without holding back anymore.
The feeling was indescribable. It was a mixture of joy and relief, knowing that years of pining after you finally amounted to this moment. He could really let every emotion, every thought of you free and not just dwell in his mind. And the best part was that it was reciprocated.
You were the one to break the kiss at first but kept your face close to his. You wore a similar goofy smile, just as in disbelief that you kissed not only your best but but the man of your dreams.
"I can't believe you used a board game to confess your feelings to me." "But it looks like I won after all," he smirked.
You rolled your eyes playfully before leaning up to press your lips against his again.

Word Count: 2k
Friday afternoon, 12:25pm
"Did you see what Jeonghan is wearing today?" "Girl, how could I not notice? My attention was all over his slacks." "The front or the back?"
Oh god. Give me a fucking break.
If there was one thing you hated, it was gossip around the office. Especially when it came in the form of girls basically drooling over one of your colleagues, Yoon Jeonghan. And of all places, they decided to take their little thirst fest into the break room.
"You know, there is something that I noticed," you said, popping into the conversation.
Immediately, heads snapped towards your direction. You were a bit taken back by the abrupt movement, fearing that their own heads would fall off. Either because they didn't realize you were in the room or they were interested in what you out of all people had to say. You were one of the few survivors of the trance Jeonghan seemed to place over your female colleagues. And if you had something to say regarding the matter, they surely were interested.
You couldn't help but smile slightly as you set down your silverware. The element of surprise had to be on your side here. You just had come in to enjoy your salad, but why not enjoy a show?
All the women leaned in, anticipating for what you might have to say. Your eyes glanced from side to side, as if you were scooping the scene to make sure there were no unwanted listeners. Getting the hint, the women leaned further in to hear the secret you were about to spill.
Time to go in the for the kill. In the loudest voice you could possible muster, you said the following:
"The way you talk about Jeonghan is quite disgusting. You hate when the men in the office talk about your skirts or how tight your blouses, but here you are drooling over Jeonghan in just a pair of pants? Pathetic. Close your mouths, ladies, or you might flood the office."
The small group gasped at you, eyes glaring at you but also glancing around to make sure nobody had looked in their direction. Their faces red in embarrassment as you smirked triumphantly.
Being the polite person you are, you bowed your head gently to pardon yourself. Gathering all the trash from your lunch, you threw it away and was about to make your exit.
"You're just upset that you're not Jeonghan's type," one of the woman muttered.
You couldn't help but laugh at their claim. You turned towards the group who seemed to be mustering all the courage they could to stand up to you. At the same time, you raised an eyebrow and had your hands on your hips. Do they really think their words will hurt you?
"Oh no! What will I ever do?" You said dramatically. "At least I don't live in some delusion where me and my friends are all after the same guy? I mean, he can only pick one of you. Or worse, he picks none of you."
Their eyes widened and mouths dropped at your words. Don't mess with the bull or you might get the horns. They seemed to be trying to come up with another comeback, but all you could do was walk away. Not worth wasting your breath on them.
You began to make your way back to your cubicle. You still had a few reports you needed to get done with before you could close out for the weekend. It wasn't that you hated your job. If anything, you kind of liked the routine it put you in. You even were beginning to be handed more responsibilities like leading presentations and joining brainstorming sessions for different marketing campaigns.
You definitely didn't have the time to be oogling over the looks of Yoon Jeonghan.
As you settled back at your dress, you let out a sigh. As invested as you were in the work you were doing, you couldn't help but feel as if time was dragging now that it was towards the later part of the day. Just 3 more hours.
"Well look who it is," a voice called out.
The hairs on the back of your neck rose a bit. You recognized that voice anywhere. Your attention was locked on the computer monitor in front of you, thinking that if you ignore the interruption it would just go away naturally. That was until you felt like something was looming over.
With a narrow gaze, you looked up to see the devil himself - Yoon Jeonghan. His arms rested against the top of your cubicle wall. You realy thought you had been silent enough to get back to work without alerting the beast. But by judging by the smirk curled on his lips, you knew he had been waiting for you. The black tie was loose around his neck with the sleeves of his white button up were rolled up to his forearms.
"Missed you, darling." "What can I do to help you, Mr. Yoon?" You did your best to keep a montone voice.
You didn't want to give any sort of impression you could be into what is happening.
"Mr. Yoon? What is with the formalies, y/n?" He gasped. "Well, I'm here to do my job and not entertain whatever this is," you explained.
"Is it actually that harmful for a man to be friendly?" "But what's the catch?" "Go out with me."
Your eyes widened and you nearly laughed. He frowned at your reaction but still stood his ground. There was no need to give any indicator that his ego had deflated a bit. He was not used to someone being so upfront with their rejection, normally accustomed to a shy "I don't know." But you were different. There was a reason he did this little waltz with you.
You and Jeonghan have been working together since you joined the company last year. He was technically someone in your department that could have been a mentor, but you were quickly swayed away by his flirtatious manner. Seeing that you were not dropping on your knees, begging for his attention, Jeonghan saw the challenge and knew he could beat it. There was a way to get into your heart, no matter how icy and impenetrable you wanted to come across.
He would crack the code, one way or another.
"I don't think it's a joke, doll. We're two attractive people. Come on. One meal couldn't hurt you." "Jeonghan, being in the same room as you is sometimes insufferable. How do I even know you don't want to go out with me because someone else was busy, hmm? I mean, weren't you just coupled up with the receptionist?" "Couldn't be fit into her Google Calendar."
You rolled your eyes at his response before dropping your gaze back down to your computer. You pretended to be typing away at one of the numerous documents you had pulled open, hoping it was enough for Jeonghan to get the hint.
However, he could tell you weren't budging quite yet. He also picked up on your little act as your screen was completely black. The brightness from the screen wasn't reflecting onto your face whatsoever. Still, he found you absolutely adorable.
"Okay, okay, I'm sorry. This is unprofessional of me, y/n. I'll leave you be."
Fucking finally.
Monday morning, 8:59am

Your heels clicked along the tile flooring of your office. It poured during your commute into work, which caused you to be stuck behind more traffic than usual. You didn't always mind, but it just put you in a foul mood. Especially since you had to sacrifice your Monday morning coffee run. It was ritual for you, and now the whole week felt like it was just off balance.
"Woah y/n. Your bad mood seems to have brought the bad weather," a voice called out to you.
Your gaze narrowed in the direction the voice came from. Your hair was slightly damped as you had to run into the front of the building from your parking spot because of course you didn't think it was going to run and didn't bring an umbrella with you.
Looking over, you noticed it was one of the girls from the break room on Friday. You rolled your eyes to refrain yourself from sticking up your middle finger. You just offered a polite smile before marching to your desk. As you moved, you heard her and her friends giggling at you. This is why you despised any sort of office relationship.
"Hey, y/n. You okay?" Jeonghan called out.
You were about to enter your cubicle when you saw Jeonghan overlooking your cubicle again. Your jacket rested on the back of your chair. it would be a miracle if it dried at all before the end of the day. You were also grateful you had a pair of flats you could change into in attempt to save your soaked shoes too. Plus, it as a good excuse to slip out of heels. You didn't mind wearing them but always valued comfort over appearance.
"Yeah," you murmured.
Usually, you would expect a snide comment from Jeonghan. Or a flirty attempt in righting the situation. But there was nothing. It cause you to freeze and look up to see what was going on. Jeonghan was only staring at you with almost a friendly smile on his face. Not a smirk but a smile.
You wanted to question it, but as you were calming down from your hectic morning, something else caught your attention. An iced coffee was sitting on your desk with a winky face on it. What the fuck?
You opened your mouth to question it but looked at Jeonghan instead. In response, he winked at you before slipping behind the wall that divided the two of you.
Standing there, you felt something unusual throughout your body. You felt warm and tingly, especially in your stomach. Your heart was doing somersaults. It was comparable to in cartoons when the heart leaps out of the character's chest. You stared at the coffee, specifically at the marker drawn winky face staring back at you.
Jeonghan did this? For me?
Your eyes couldn't help but wonder to see if this was a prank or if there was a hidden camera. Jeonghan still wasn't lurking in his usual spot. You also noticed that nobody else had an iced coffee on their desk awaiting for them. A blush overtook your cheeks, but you quickly sat down before anyone noticed.
Reaching forward, you moved the plastic container towards you to see it was from the local coffee shop you frequent. It was the place you went every Monday morning, the place you had to skip out on today or else you would be late. But what struck you was that he got your exact order.
Your blush intensified. You kept your head ducked as you took a sip out of the delicious drink. There was no denying the smile on your face wasn't just because of the coffee but because of Yoon Jeonghan.
And on the other side of the wall, Jeonghan was smirking to himself. He got his computer turned on before going to make himself a cup of coffee from the break room. He didn't often frequent coffee shops as they often didn't have decaf coffee. When he walked into the place around the corner from your office building, he asked the woman behind the corner if you had been in yet. Saying no and noting how odd it was, Jeonghan seized the opportuntiy. He asked for your usual order and requested a winky face drawn on it.
"Are you her boyfriend? She's mentioned there's a guy she's interested in at her place of work."
That's all the encouragement Jeonghan needed to go through with his plan. He shook his head but smiled at the barista. "No, not yet. I'm hoping this catches her attention."
And by the looks of your blushing face, he was close to winning you over. He always gets what he wants, and he certainly had his eyes locked on you.

You knew that he is gonna come home with a surprise - he send a message. And of course, you expected some kind of food, maybe just your favorite drink but no. This was completely different.
"What do you think, hm?" Jeonghan gave you a small shy smile. "Seungkwan doesn't really like it," he added with a chuckle. He also shook his head which made his hair bounce a little.
"Oh my..." you squeak slightly at that sight and immediately went closer to your boyfriend to touch his new hair. But you stopped your hand from moving and looked at him. "Can I?" you asked.
Jeonghan laughed at your cute behavior and nodded. "Of course, you can." he smiled at you and you slowly, like it would be dangerous, placed your hand on his hair.
Your eyes widened and your face showed a very beautiful smile. His hair was actually very soft and.. fluffy. "This is amazing," you said in awe and went through his hair with your hand. "I love it."
"I'm glad you like it." he gave you a small kiss on the nose. "I was very nervous about how you would react," he admitted with a small smile. "But you like it so that's amazing."
You laughed and looked at his hair once again. It was true that you like it and it was just hypnotizing you; in a good way. Jeonghan on the other hand used this situation to wrap his arms around your waist and just admire you, his beautiful loved one.

"Oh, I forgot to mention!" Lili suddenly said, grabbing your attention again after a few minutes of silence. The only thing that could be heard in the room was a TV show playing. "A new person is joining us." she gave you a small smile.
"Really?" you raised your eyebrows in surprise. It was quite rare to hear that they have a new worker that goes out; usually, it's someone who does all the paperwork and stuff like that, staying inside the building with not so much work. "But we both know how it will end." your lips shook slightly and your eyes once again focused on the phone you were holding.
"Hmm, yeah." she nodded. "But maybe he won't chicken out like the others. He will definitely come in handy with his strength," she said with hope, and now it was your turn to nod. But then you realized what she said...
"It's a boy?" you asked her a little anxiously. It's not common for boys to do this type of job and you weren't mad about it. You were glad, but... Allowing the boys to see you in this vulnerable state is terrifying and, let's face it, you were ashamed. You were ashamed of yourself, of your state, and everything that had to do with you and taking care of you.
"Yes," she said the word you didn't want to hear. "He's very nice, so there's no need to worry about anything." she tried to make it sound positive for you but this is something that just won't vanish with nice sweet words; it's a genuine fear that you'll have to face soon.
You faked a smile (maybe a little frightened) to her and then let out a small sigh. "Do you perhaps know when I'll meet him?" you asked her with not much desire to do anything anymore and took a glance at your phone in case you missed something in the game you were playing.
"I'm not sure, but I'll check if it's already there." she grabbed her phone and searched in the worker's schedule plan to see, firstly, if there is a schedule for the next week and secondly, when I'll be meeting this boy. "Haha, you'll be very happy." I knew it was bad when she looked at me.
"Just say it." you shook your head and waited for her reply. It was obvious now what her answer would be, and you had no choice but to accept it.
"Jennie will accompany him tomorrow to show him how things are going here." she put her phone back on the table and gave you a small smile. "Don't worry. I can tell him how you have it, Okay?" she raised one eyebrow in question.
"I guess." you shrugged your shoulders which probably wasn't noticeable for Lili. "I don't know... Just..." You were unable to come up with any words to express yourself. Yeah, Lili would tell him about your fear but it won't change anything.
"I will prepare him." you thanked her after receiving a small smile from her. From Lili, it's a really nice gesture, but it won't do anything, this is something that's inside you and all you can do is, suck it up and just pretend everything is fine. "Shall we go?" she suddenly asked with blue gloves in her hand.
"Of course." after you nodded and locked your phone, she grabbed it and placed it on the table to prevent it from falling and breaking. And after that, she did her job.
-🫧-
"Good morning, Y/N." you heard Jennie's voice, which means that he is here too. You didn't say anything or do anything. Jennie understands that this is normal and started preparing things for your morning hygiene while also talking to the boy.
On the other hand, it was the same as every morning (except for the weekends). One of the caregivers would come around 8.30, say good morning like you would be already awake, and then start to prepare warm water and some gel for your face to clean you up. When that is all done, they will properly wake you up.
"Wakey, wakey." Jennie gently shook your shoulder and removed a blanket from your face. "Well hello there, sleepy girl." she smiled at you when you finally opened your eyes. She laughed at your quiet greeting when you returned the smile; she always found it adorable. "How are you today?"
"Good." simple answer but you just woke up and you really don't have the energy to talk. That's the reason why you closed your eyes again for a few seconds. "How are you?" you asked in return. You always do that, so the girls who are taking care of you won't think you are rude or something. You have a rule, don't be rude to them because they are taking care of you! Your goal is to make them feel comfortable around you.
"Great." she laughed and that made you chuckle 'cause you know that it is not that great so far. "But now I am here, which is always a joy," she added and started to clean your face. "And we have some help here today. He is our new co-worker." and there goes the topic you didn't want to come, but couldn't run away from.
You opened your eyes and looked behind Jennie where you saw the boy, the new co-worker. "Hello." you smiled a little, just a tiny bit, at him. You were anxious and it was getting worse 'cause your time to go to the toilet was near.
"Hi," he answered and that was all. But you didn't mind that, you tried to trick yourself that he isn't here, so if he is not gonna talk, it will be better to imagine that.
Jennie proceeded to work without waiting any more minutes. For you, it's the same every day, so you shut your eyes again and let it all up to her. She removed the blanket completely from you and put it aside because it won't be needed for a while. She removed the long pillow from under your legs and began to take your panties off. You sucked a deep breath through your nose and tried not to think about the boy who was watching and learning how to deal with you.
Jennie dropped your panties and carefully placed your legs on the bed, so she could remove the bedpan from under your adjustable bed. She put the bedpan next to your legs, took away the lid, and moved you to your side, then back to your original position. The difference now was that you were on your toilet. Jennie placed the long pillow beside the left side of your legs and another, a small pillow, between your knees and also didn't forget to place a blanket over your legs to give you some privacy.
Although it was for your comfort, it wasn't about privacy since they had already seen everything on you, but it felt right to do it.
Everything went smoothly until the boy spoke. "Oh, now you'll brush her teeth?" he obviously asked Jennie but you were present too, and it made you feel embarrassed and you just wanted to dig yourself a hole. However, you maintain your composure to prevent this annoying feeling from arising.
"Not really, Y/N can brush it herself. You need to do the rest, which is normal," she answered him and gave you your toothbrush. You then started brushing your teeth. Although it took some time (and more head movement than hand movement), you still couldn't do it faster.
Once you've finished brushing your teeth and removing the bedpan from underneath you, it's time to wash yourself. This is followed by a terrible question. "Do you want to do it yourself?" the question came from Jennie and was meant for the boy who was now supposed to wash you. Awesome!
You inhaled deeply and waited for his reply. It was clear what the answer would be, but there was still a slight hope that he would say that it was okay and he would do it next time.
"Sure."
BAM! You have no luck. You nodded to yourself and mentally prepared yourself, or you tried. Were you being too exaggerated about this whole situation? Maybe... But you couldn't help feeling ashamed, embarrassed, and even scared. You're a girl and were taken care of your whole life by your mother, a girl. Yes, now it's your stepdad in that position, instead of your mother, but with him, it is a whole different story than with a random boy who you are seeing for the first time and so does he.
Your stepdad has essentially known you all of your life. You were eight years old when he and your mother started dating; today, you are nineteen. The only difference between him and a random boy who will likely only see you once before quitting this job is, that he went through everything with you in the same way that your mother did. Yes, it wasn't very comfortable at first when it was just your stepdad and you without your mother, but it was still better than this. Now that everything is fully normal, you two joke around with each other about this stuff.
"Okay." Jennie nodded her head and moved to the side so the boy could take her place. "Firstly, you'll wash her legs and butt and you'll put on her new clean socks and panties, which you can find right here." she pointed with her hand to a toilet chair which was most of the time used as your wardrobe.
The boy probably shook his head in agreement because you couldn't hear him talk. In a second, you heard how he dipped your sponge in the soap water and not long after that, he started to wash your right leg. It was fine until he had to open your leg to wash the inner side of it. You bit your cheeks and slightly scrunched your eyebrows. Oh, how embarrassing!
"You can scrub her with the harder side. It's better for her, right Y/N?" even with your eyes closed, you could tell Jennie was smiling while asking you.
You let your eyes open a little just to look at her. "Yeah, that's true." you nodded and closed your eyes once again. The boy just hummed and switched to the harder side of the sponge.
Soon, your legs and private parts of you were nice and clean and he started to put your panties on. Jennie of course told him how to do it (and that you can't be moved to your right side because it makes you nauseous) and he did as he was told. You had to admit, that he did a really good job. Socks were very easy to put on and he was done with your bottom.
"So, now for the top half," Jennie spoke once again. "You need to find your system of how to take her shirt on and then also put it back. But it works almost the same way as her panties, moving her on the side and back!" she said somehow with enthusiasm in her voice which surprised you but you didn't ask - maybe if you two were alone...
You enjoyed the little time you were clothed as much as you could but it still wasn't enough. He was now taking your shirt off and you could tell it was tricky for him but he managed to do so without causing you much trouble. He then washed your front and back and put the new shirt back on you. And of course, he did not forget to dry you with a towel before that.
Oh how much you tried not to think that he is washing your body and that you are naked in front of him. But the harder you tried not to think about it the more your mind was thinking exactly about that and it was annoying and you hated it. Still, you were glad he did not talk much and just did his job in silence. This way, it didn't feel that much real.
"Perfect," said Jennie. "Now it's time to brush her hair." she went from her spot and took your comb from your special corner of things that involve your hygiene. "Here." she handed it to him. "You will move her to her side and brush it. You don’t need to worry about knots, she can handle that." her lips let out a small chuckle, and that made you smile a little too.
Once again the boy did as he was told and brushed your hair. After that it was just a small things; your glasses, putting back the long pillow under your legs and slightly moving your butt into a more comfortable position. That, luckily, had to do Jennie to show him what you mean by that. The last thing was a blanket and a small adjustment of your left hand and ta-da! You were done.
"Now it's time to bring her something small to eat from the fridge." Jennie continued with the "education" of what to do with you in the morning. They both were back in just a second, Jennie placed a plate with your very small breakfast on your chest and you ate. When you were done, Jennie exchanged the plate for a bottle of coke and you took a few sips. "The last thing is to give her a phone and you can rest for the rest of the time. Another toilet time is before we have to leave," she told him and gave him a small smile while handing him her phone. "Everything good?" she asked you.
"Yes, everything is perfect. Thank you, Jennie." you smiled at her and started to do your things on your phone - that means, you will check up on your game cats and look on social media.
"Oh, I need to take that... But you two should talk more," said Jennie with a smile, and before you could say anything, she went to the next room to deal with her phone call.
You took a deep silent breath threw your nose and bit your lip. You didn't want to start first but at the same time, you thought you should. "Ehm.. hi, again." you laughed awkwardly and mentally slapped yourself. You moved your head so you could look at him sitting on a couch. On the very end of a couch far from your bed.
"Hey." he smiled at you. "My name is Jeonghan. Jennie and Lisa told me about you a lot. Actually, all the workers in the company told me about you." he chuckled. "You are their sweetheart, I heard only praises," he told you and you had to shake your head in disbelief.
"Oh god..." you mumbled. "It's... I think they overpraise me. I don't do anything at all, to be honest." you laughed. "But I am very happy, that the girls like to come here even tho, they need to deal with me." small smile crept on your lips.
You hear similar words to his a lot from new co-workers (who, in the end, didn't stay for more than a week at this job) and also from the others who are still working there. Apparently, by their words, you are nice, sweet, and polite. They always are happy when they have you that day and you make them happy too just by your presence. But you were never able to handle such nice words, so you just laughed and said, that it can't be true. The conversation about that ended with that.
"They say all of these nice things just because they need to deal with grumpy old people," you told him with a kind smile. Yes, you still did not fully accept him as your new caregiver but you are not a bad person to be angry with him just because of that - because he is a man. "That's it." you chuckled and looked at your phone to see your cats in the game you play more like a routine now.
"Hm, I don't think so," he said after a while. "I don't know you that much but just by the small talk a gestures you had with Jennie, I can tell that it's true." he gave you a big smile and you weren't sure how to react. You never were. The kind words towards you said by some other people never felt right in your brain.
"Well... I thank you?" you just smiled. "And how old are you, Jeonghan? You seem very young to be doing this job," you remarked and it was true. Usually, it's not that boys don't do this job but young people in general, so you were curious.
Jeonghan laughed. "You are welcome, Y/N. But you didn't have to thank me in the first place." he was still smiling at you. "I am almost thirty. Not that young anymore." he laughed once again.
"Okay okay." you laughed too. "But why this job? Boys don't do this and I know that. I can truly say I am lucky with my stepdad." now, you got away from the game and locked your phone, so you could give Jeonghan your full attention.
"I took care of others all the time, that's why." he simply answered. "I know, boring answer but there isn't anything special behind this." he nodded his head. "But I promise, I don't bite."
"Oh... Lisa talked to you?" you nervously laughed while he nodded his head in answer. "It’s nothing against you, Okay? It’s just..." you struggled with your words. There wasn't really a nice way to describe it, you just don't feel comfortable to be seen naked by a boy.. a man. But you can't do anything about it in your situation and that makes you angry about yourself even more.
"Hey, don't worry." he moved on the couch a little closer to you. "I get why you are feeling this way. I would too. And I promise to make you feel comfortable around me. If you don’t like anything, tell me and I figure something else." he gave you a reassuring smile.
"Thanks." you send a small sad smile to him and move your gaze to the TV that is playing some show you have probably seen dozens of times already.
It was nice of him that he understood what you were feeling but those words just won't make the weird feeling about him disappear; it will take time and knowing yourself, it will take a long way for you and your mind.
"I'm back." Jennie came back and sat on the couch next to Jeonghan. "And with some news," she added and you immediately looked at her with raised eyebrows. "Jeonghan will have just some of our clients and you're one of them, Y/N!" she smiled.
"Guess we will see each other often then." he looked at you with concern. He could sense that you don’t want him to be taking care of you, hence, you basically told him that, and now this. Life really is just a bad joke to you...
"Yeah..." you nodded and then smiled to not seem disappointed by this news. Once again, you took a deep breath and tried to find something positive about it - maybe you won't have the one girl anymore who is just complaining about everything and does her job poorly.
Luckily, the next day was already the weekend, which meant that your stepdad was free from work and was now taking care of you. And that also means that you have two days to convince yourself, that you'll be alright with Jeonghan. What a hard task...
-🫧-
Monday has come and with that also comes Jeonghan - of course, he had to come on the first day of the week, it's just how your life is. And thanks to Lisa, who writes you every Sunday and will come in the week to take care of you, you know that Jeonghan will come two more times, great.
Today, Jeonghan was already on his own which scared you more than you thought but you were quite good at not letting it show. And because it was only his second time (first time alone) here, you had to still help him. That also made things a little bit better, 'cause there was no time for stupid overthinking that Jeonghan is, in fact, a boy.
"Is it alright like this?" he asked you and looked at you when he put the bedpan under you. "I'm not sure if it sits right?" he let out an awkward laugh.
"It's perfect." you nodded your head and smiled a little. It was true, he placed it perfectly under you, and for his first time, it was impressive. Not everyone can master it on their first try; not even after many many other tries...
You have to say, Jeonghan does such a good job and he remembers most of the stuff he was told on Friday. He also uses his brain and does think logically, which you would think that everyone does, but no. Some caregivers just don't think during this job and make simple things somehow hard. Jeonghan also tried to conversate with you while he was washing you up.
"How was your weekend? Did you do something fun?" he asked while he put new and clean socks on you. Your bottom was already nicely washed, which you didn't even realize he was done with.
"It was good." simple answer. "If you consider listening to songs and watching YouTube videos to be fun, then yes, I did something fun," you said while a small chuckle escaped your lips. "You know, I'm always at home. I don't like going out."
"Well, it was fun for you. That's all that matters." he gave you a small smile and you smiled back. "Can I move to the top?" with this question, he hinted if he could take off your shirt and continue his job.
"Of course." you nodded. "And how was your weekend?" because you don’t want to be impolite, you asked him too, to keep the conversation going. And also because you didn't want to think about the washing up.
"I was just at home and relaxing. There wasn't much going on," he answered you while taking your shirt off. "Oh, sorry. Hope I didn't pull your hair?" he apologized almost immediately when his hand touched your head. He needed to lift you, just a little bit, and he was scared he grabbed you in the wrong spot.
"No, it's Okay. You did not pull my hair, don't worry," you assured him even with a small smile. "If you did pull my hair, I think I would scream," you said while laughing.
"Okay, I'll believe you." he nodded and threw your shirt on the ground to the rest of your laundry. "But please, if I ever grab you badly and it will hurt, tell me."
"I will."
Jeonghan once again nodded his head and without another word started to wash your top half. Everything went smoothly and soon enough you were lying comfortably in your bed nice and clean with new clothes. When you were done, Jeonghan cleaned up after himself.
"Now... Now you will have breakfast, right?" he asked you and when you gave him a green that he was right, he went to the kitchen to look inside the fridge. "What would you like to have?"
"There should be a plate with brownies, so if I can have that, please," you answered him. "Oh, and don't give me everything. I want just a small piece," you added kinda important information because you're not a breakfast person. You're not hungry in the morning but still take something small, just because.
You could hear how Jeonghan is looking for a plate and knife, perhaps a fork too. You also heard how is cutting a piece for you and then you realized he can have some too. "You can have a piece too if you want to."
"Thank you, it's nice of you but I have to decline," he said while putting the rest of the brownies back in the fridge. You just nodded to yourself and thanked him, when he gave you your plate with a fork, which you forgo to mention that you want. "Do you need help?" he looked at you.
"No, I should be able to do this by myself. Thank you." you smiled and started to eat the breakfast that was given to you by one of your stepdad's relatives.
Jeonghan sat on the couch next to you and grabbed papers that he needed to fill. The papers are from the company that you are under and all the caregivers need to fill them up with information about what they did that day with you. You know, wash you up, give you food, and so on. After he was done, you were done too, so he took your plate and went with it to the kitchen where he washed it and put it back in its place. Jeonghan also returned to his place and you were both silent. Luckily, there was a TV playing so it was not a complete silence.
"Can I.. ask what happened to you?" Jeonghan suddenly asked a question you expected him to ask. "You don’t need to answer if it’s uncomfortable for you."
"No no, I am fine. I never had a problem talking about this." you smiled at him. You weren't lying, you were absolutely okay with answering it. This has been part of you for some years now, of course, people will ask, they are curious. Everyone is. "Well... I have something that is called muscular dystrophy. In easy words, it means that muscles in my whole body are getting weaker and weaker with each day passing by. I was unfortunate enough that it started this quickly." you told him.
"When did it start?"
"I must had it already when I was born but it started around four. I wasn't walking well and physically I was horrible." you let out a small laugh. "I ended up in a wheelchair when I was nine and since that day, it went downhill."
"I'm sorry to hear that. It must have been hard." he gave you a small sad smile. "I can't imagine how hard everything was, and still is." he exhaled quite sharply.
"Yeah." you shrugged your shoulders. "But there is nothing I can do and pitying myself isn't an option for sure. That won't change anything." you chuckled.
"I heard there was a donation that our company made for you because of your story." he slightly changed the topic but you can't blame him. It is still awkward to hear something like this when you did not experience it yourself and you don’t know what to say to that or react.
"Oh, yeah." you laughed and looked away. "Something was going on... You can read about it. It's on that table, they wanted me to write my story so they can have it for the people who would want to donate." you moved your head to the table where was your story on a piece of paper.
"Can I?" slowly, he started to get up so he could take the paper. You gave him a positive answer and he grabbed the paper and started to read to himself.
'Hi, everyone,
My name is Y/N, I am 19 years old and today I will tell you about my life. I was born as a healthy girl, who wasn't really gifted in doing good in sports. Me and my mom didn't really think much about it because not everyone is a sporty person but later it turned out to be something much worse than me just being clumsy. I used to trip on air and fall and that was happening many times in a day. When I was seven, the doctor sent me to some surgery, where they had to take a small piece of my leg muscle to do tests on it. They found out I have something called muscular dystrophy, which makes the muscles in my whole body weaker and weaker. You can probably guess where is this going...
In third grade, I fell on stairs in school and broke my arm. The same year I broke my other arm. In sixth grade, I had to have back surgery because of scoliosis that was caused by sitting in a wheelchair. You would have thought that this surgery was a good idea but because of that, I stopped walking completely and I had to start using an electric wheelchair. After that, you could say my life was okay. I was visiting my grandma, and friends but... Then came another harsh part of my life.
Two years ago, they found out my mom had cancer. She had surgery and many chemo. Doctors told us she was doing great, that she was basically cancer-free and everyone was so happy. A few months later, she had another surgery which was a big mistake. Her condition got so much worse, that doctors let her go home with words, she didn't have much time. Because my mom was taking care of me 24/7, there was now no one. Her husband, my stepdad, had to go to work (he was the only one making money), and he found me a company that was, and still is, sending caregivers to our house.
We also were thinking, who will take care of me after my mom is gone? Everyone for sure things, that family would take care of me and we did too. Mom asked her sister who agreed but a few days later she said, she won't do it.
There comes my dad to the scene.
He still lives with his parents and he used to visit me once in two weeks when I was at my grandma's because he did not want to drive around twenty minutes to a different town. At first, he said that I was his daughter and he would never put me somewhere in the hospital or anything like that and Mom even told him that I might come to him very soon. When the time came, he turned his back on us, on me.
That is not all! In one of our family gatherings, they started to talk about mom's condition and stepdad said, to see how they would react, that I might have to be put in some place for disabled people. Everyone agreed without asking ME about MY opinion about it. They just decided on what was best for them, which was to get rid of me so they didn't have to take responsibility.
Not even my father talked about it with me, he just told me that he has his girlfriend, his life and he doesn't want to ruin this said life. He even dared to call social services on me that I lived in a household that was not suitable for me, even dangerous. What a lie... Three social workers came to visit me and asked me about my opinion on all of that and I told them, that I didn't wanna go away to some of those places and they agreed with me. They told me, that it's crazy to put someone who can think by themselves in those places and my stepdad told them, he would be keeping me. He just wanted to know, what my family would do.
Sadly, some days later, my mom passed away...
With that said, I live with my stepdad who is basically a stranger to me now. I also have a younger brother who is still too young to understand some of those adult things.
Thank you for your time ♡'
"I... I have no words. That is... That is absolutely horrible. How can a family treat you like this?" his voice got a little louder at the end with anger.
"I don't have an answer for that." you shook your head. "Or maybe I do." you looked at him. "They don't want to ruin their lives. They don't want to lose their freedom. That is the reason." you had a sad smile on your face. "I stopped talking to them after all of that."
"So they ruined yours instead." he scoffed. "Family shouldn't think like that. I think you did the right thing that you stopped talking to them."
"Yeah... At least I found out what they were as people and what they thought about me. They never liked me or my mom, we were some dirt to them." you took a deep breath and rolled your eyes.
"I'm very sorry for what happened and also for your loss," he told you after a few minutes of complete silence that started after you stopped talking.
"It's Okay, you did nothing wrong. You didn't do any of that." you shook your head and gave him a small smile.
-🫧-
The past few weeks went without anything interesting. In that time you had Jeonghan a few times, it still didn't feel really good but it was getting better which made you happy. You and Jeonghan always had something to talk about and he even showed interest in the stuff you like, so you were happy when he was with you. You became friends.
Today was Jeonghan supposed to come which he did and you were happy that it was him that day because you weren't feeling good in both ways, mentally and physically. You were sick and even tho today you were doing better, yesterday was absolutely horrible for you.
"Good morning, Y/N." Jeonghan smiled at you when you finally opened your eyes and looked at him. "How are you today?"
"Morning," you mumbled and looked away after he asked his question about, how you are doing. "I... I am sick, so it is not that great." you tried to chuckle a little bit.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Do you still want to wash up? I don't want you to be cold so you won't feel worse." he asked you and placed a hand on yours.
"No, that's.. that's..." you wanted to continue but your emotions overflowed inside you and you started to cry.
"Y/N? Hey, it's Okay." he moved his hand on yours up and down a few times. "What's wrong? You can tell me, I'm here for you."
You felt so many things at once but there was also embarrassment. You didn't want to cry in front of him, you never liked to cry when people were around. Usually, you could keep everything to yourself till you went to sleep and were alone, then you let it all out and still tried to be quiet about it.
"I a-am sorry..." you tried to take a deep breath but the crying was stranger than you. "My s-stepdad, he... H-he was so an-ngry with me for being s-sick. He..." you had to pause.
Yesterday, when you became sick, it was harsh. There was coming so much fluids from both of your ends and you couldn't stop it just by a whip of a finger. You were already feeling like shit but your stepdad made it much worse. Not that he was angry, but he told you, he won't take care of you anymore if you're sick and that you should tell the social worker that you need to go away.
"He t-told me, he can't d-do this an-nymore and I need-d to write a social w-worker to find me so-ome place." you once again tried to take a deep breath. "I get he is t-tired from w-work but it's not m-my fault for bei-ing sick. Like... I can't con-ntrol it."
"I am sure, he did not mean it." his face showed concern. "He was probably just stressed from work." he stroked your hair with a sad look on his face.
"If he didn't me-eant it, he wouldn't sa-ay it." you shook your head. There has been so much going on in your head since yesterday and so many negative thoughts.
"It's true that you are not the one to blame for being sick. It just happened. And let's be honest, it was probably one of us who brought something with us. We may not be sick but we still can make others sick." he told you and went away from you. He came back with a tissue and started to wipe your face.
You just nodded your head. You wanted to talk, you had so much to say but at the same time, you just wanted to be silent. Talking bad about your stepdad feels wrong because he took you under his roof but you're not the wrong here. You are sick, it's not the end of the fucking world so why he makes it seem like it?
Jeonghan could sense that you wanted to be silent for now, so he started doing his job without saying a word. He already knew what to do and didn't need your guidance anymore, which was perfect for a time like this. Soon enough, you were already done with hygiene; Jeonghan was such a great caregiver.
"Can I have my phone first?" you asked him when you saw him bringing you a plate with breakfast. "I... I want to deal with that situation first."
"Of course." he put the plate on a table and gave you your phone. Jeonghan then sat on the couch and was waiting for you to tell him, that you wanted your breakfast.
You took a shaky breath and opened a chat with your stepdad. You knew you were not strong enough to message the social worker so you asked your stepdad if he could do that for you. You even apologized for being sick, which is ridiculous. Why would you have to apologize for this normal thing that can happen to anyone? But you felt like it. He made you feel like it's your fault like everything is your fault.
A new wave of tears burned your eyes but you took a couple of small deep breaths to stop you from crying again; you need to be strong. After sending the message, you placed your phone on the bottom of your stomach and looked at Jeonghan. "Can I have it now, please?"
Jeonghan gave it to you. "Thank you," you told him and started slowly eating. You're not a breakfast person but this time you weren't hungry at all.
Somehow you managed to eat it all and after you were done, Jeonghan gave you your bottle of Coca-Cola; you are only living on that. It's not healthy but you told yourself you won't care about this.
A big problem (and not the only one, probably the least horrible one) with your condition is, that if you live only on water and apples, you would still gain weight very quickly so what is the point of not eating and drinking whatever you want when it will have the same result? With that said, that sometimes doesn't stop you thinking about yourself like a fat pig that should lose some weight.
Sometimes you think your mind is making big jokes on you with all of those thoughts that are one time nice and the other time bad.
"It will end up okay," said Jeonghan suddenly. You looked at him not very sure about that; he doesn't know your stepdad. "I know it will. He wouldn't keep you just to put you away because of something small like this." he sounded so sure about it.
"I hope so." you swallowed hard. Anxiety was building up in you and you were scared, really scared. The thoughts of what is going to possibly happen were still running and fresh in your mind. It was exhausting. "But it seemed like it isn't that small to him," you added and looked away from him.
After you were done talking, your phone vibrated which meant you received a message back from your stepdad. You grabbed your phone and with another deep breath opened the chat to read it.
"I'm staying here," you said out loud to inform Jeonghan. "But I can't get sick again," you said slightly annoyed. Easier said than done but for him everything is easy because he thinks like that.
"That is good news. Not the one about not being sick but that will change over time." he smiled at you. "It's gonna be good for some time again, don't worry." he tried so hard to be positive about it but you knew yours. Still, you just nodded and thanked him.
When Jeonghan left, you broke down crying again. You just needed to let everything out and clear your mind a little bit. It may have not helped your sickness but you couldn't hold your tears anymore and you also needed calm before your stepdad got back from work. Crying in front of him is forbidden, that is one of your rules (because he would just mock you a tell you, you have no reason to cry).
Luckily, your sickness went away throughout the day and you were calm enough to deal with any outburst your stepdad has prepared for you, which you wish he did not but you won't know until he returns home.
-🫧-
Jeonghan earned your trust very quickly. It might have helped the fact, that you cried in front of him but you'll never admit that. You were finally comfortable around him but there were times when you still felt a little awkward. Both of you shared stories from your life and talked about nothing and anything. It was more like a friend is helping a friend type of relationship than a caregiver to a patient. It was nice.
But everything good in your life must have an early end...
"Lisa?" Jeonghan sat down next to you on the couch. "I.. I don't know what to do so I called you," he told her.
"Jeonghan, what are you talking about?" Lisa was obviously confused about why is Jeonghan calling her and what even is he talking about.
"It's, Y/N, she..."
Saying that everything good in your life must have an early end was not the right thing, no. It should be, that you finally found your piece for once. And last...
"She is not breathing. She... She is dead."

"Let's go back inside, hm?" you heard your boyfriend's voice as he stood up from the small bench in the backyard.
"Just a little longer, please?" you looked up at him from your spot, giving him a small pout that you knew he couldn't resist.
Jeonghan, despite feeling the chill and knowing you did too, nodded in agreement with a faint smile. "Fine." he breathed out. "Just a little longer," he repeated your request.
Though he agreed with you, he still headed back inside the house. Truthfully, you were asking him if you could stay a little longer because you knew how easily he got cold, and you didn't want him to suffer out here with you. Yeah, you're no different from him, but you simply wanted to enjoy watching the rain fall a little while longer.
Today was actually supposed to be much different. You and Jeonghan had planned to go for a small walk around your quiet neighborhood and maybe get some ice cream because the lady on TV said the sun would be proudly shining in the sky; well... it was the complete opposite. Yet, you didn't mind. In reality, you loved rainy days, and your wish was always to be out in the rain, getting soaked and just enjoying the beautiful moment, with your boyfriend of course (who would simply call you a romantic fool, with a fond smile on his face, if he knew about this small wish of yours).
"Hm?" you looked around yourself, a little confused about what was happening. You soon found out it was only Jeonghan who had put a blanket around you to keep you nice and warm. "Thank you." you gave him a small smile filled with appreciation and snuggled more into the fluffy blanket.
"Anytime, my Y/N." he gave you a warm and loving kiss that felt nice on your cold cheek. "Guess I came just in time." he laughed a little with you.
Of course, Jeonghan didn't forget about himself and brought a blanket for himself too, so he could stay outside with you and watch the rain fall down on your garden. Slowly, he moved his arms around you to be much closer to you, which you both appreciated and loved.

Aisha was getting closer to Ari, especially after meeting with the parents, Ari wanted Aisha’s contacts, and according to her she got a sister.
Aisha had to choose her wedding dress and after Ari got to know, she insisted on joining, since Jeonghan can’t see her in the wedding dress before the wedding. Ari and Aisha were starting to enjoy each other’s company. There was something about Ari, she liked a lot; the way she made her feel, the whole sister love. At times, Aisha would get overwhelmed but then she would realize she would be getting more of it since Ari would be her sister-in-law.
Since the wedding dates were getting closer, both the families were getting busy, with everything. Jeonghan would tell Aisha to take care of herself more; since Aisha was staying with her family till the wedding.
Aisha was already used to this side of Jeonghan but Jeonghan was realizing slowly that it wasn’t just a friend’s care and it was scaring him. At times he would simply call Aisha because he would be missing her voice and would ask her to take care of herself because that was the only excuse he could give for now. As the wedding date was getting closer, Jeonghan was battling if he should invite Seungcheol or not, somewhere Jeonghan still considered him as his friend but he wasn’t sure if it was the same from Seungcheol’s side or not. The way things went downhill and now calling him on the wedding was more like he was confirming Seungcheol’s doubt into truth or he wanted to show Seungcheol that he could take could better care of Aisha than him. All these assumptions were messing up Jeonghan, somewhere he wanted Seungcheol back as his bestfriend but what hurt him the most was the doubt and the way he assumed that something like this could actually happen between him and Aisha
Out of respect for their years of friendship and courtesy, Jeonghan did send him the wedding invitation but with a letter as a last try to fix things, somewhere he had a hope, maybe he would show up at the wedding and fix everything. Jeonghan wrote to him clearly, ‘This is the one last time I am ever asking you anything, please come to the wedding and listen to Aisha one last time or if you ever thought me as your friend then you’ll give me a chance to speak and you will know that this is all a misunderstanding and how hard it is for Aisha. Please Seungcheol, just one last time. Because somewhere I know that she still loves you.’
Although he didn’t tell Aisha at first; he told her after sorting out his messy thoughts. One thing Jeonghan didn’t tell her was about the letter. And Aisha was okay with the wedding invitation because somewhere Aisha also wanted Seungcheol to show that she was getting married to Jeonghan and she was done explaining everything to him.
*****
“Aisha, are you ready?” Aisha was nervous, she looked at the mirror and then at her mom. “I am” She smiled at her mom and then looked down at her belly. The small baby bump which she could feel, was making her overwhelmed; her mom came and kissed her forehead, “I am sorry for the way I behaved that day infront of you and Jeonghan, if I knew then I wouldn’t have-
“Mom, you’re my mother. You’ve all the right to be mad about this.” Somewhere Aisha was guilty because none of this was planned and the way Jeonghan’s words affected everything and led to the wedding. Somewhere she was thankful to Jeonghan but it was beyond her understanding why was Jeonghan doing all this, and how did they end up like this.
“Aisha…” her mom was tearing up and looking at her, Aisha was trying to hold back her tears. She was getting married, her life is going to change, and the baby is going to have a dad. Aisha was overwhelmed with everything and the way she planned everything with Seungcheol was replaced by Jeonghan, now she is going to be Jeonghan’s wife and Jeonghan is going to be the baby’s dad.
She knew Jeonghan could be the best dad but somewhere all the feelings for Seungcheol which she burnt weeks ago were coming back as a betrayal. “Aisha don’t cry” and she realized her tears were already falling.
Aisha’s dad entered and saw the mother-daughter moment; he smiled at them and walked towards Aisha and hugged her carefully. “You will be an amazing wife and a great mother, I just know it my baby” her dad wiped her tears and kissed her forehead. “Don’t ruin your makeup and it’s almost time to go” Aisha nodded.
“I can’t believe my girl is a grown up already and getting married.” He pinched her cheeks and Aisha smiled. “Let’s go now?” her dad extended his arm and Aisha nodded.
“Please don’t let me fall” Aisha almost whispered, “how can I even my pretty daughter” he gave his happiest smile to her, and the moment the door opened, Aisha walked down the aisle with her dad. She was trying to keep a smile while walking, and on the other hand, Jeonghan had his eyes set on her. The way her dress looked so pretty on her, for him she wasn’t looking less than a Disney princess. The way she was walking gracefully towards him holding the bouquet, he was lost in her; he wanted to tell him that this was wrong but then he wanted today to be his cheat day and think about her and the wedding.
Jeonghan was so lost in Aisha that he couldn’t even see anyone else other than her, walking and holding the bouquet, the moment she came closer, he was tearing up because of how beautiful she looked and how he couldn’t believe any of this.
He had a little hope that Seungcheol would show up before the wedding and fix everything but there he was, standing in the front and witnessing their wedding which simply meant he wasn’t even ready to give anyone one last chance and stuck to his own point, about the whole misunderstanding.
The moment he stepped down the stage and went to take her hand from her dad, they had a short eye contact, before giving Aisha’s hand, her dad spoke “Take care of her, I am trusting you since Aisha loves you and choose you. Don’t let her cry or hurt her, if you ever feel that you’re going to hurt her, return my daughter back to me”
“I will take care of her and never let her cry. I promise” and Aisha was holding back her tears, and the moment her dad gave her hand to Jeonghan, he tightened the grip. Somewhere the word ‘love’ felt so foreign to both of them, because they knew what happened and what was coming for them.
He led her to the center and he looked at her, he could see her trying hard not to cry. He was still holding her hand and drawing circles, when they were facing each other during vows, it was his way of telling her not to cry and stress and that he was here for her.
Somewhere Aisha’s eyes found Seungcheol, she was looking at him. The pain, the love she felt for him was replacing with an unknown emotion, but the betrayal feeling was still there and it was telling her, that she deserved better. Better than Seungcheol.
Because of what Seungcheol did, she could never forgive him; for ruining everything.
After Jeonghan and Aisha’s vows, Jeonghan just heard one sentence which was enough to turn everything upside down.
“You may kiss the bride” kiss? He knew what was coming but he didn’t think it was going to be this nerve-wreaking. He was hesitating, he was okay with hugs and all the skinship that happened between him and Aisha but the kiss was out of the question. But he had to, and he needed the consent before he kissed her. Without her consent, he won’t even make a single move.
He leaned towards Aisha, and he could almost hear his own heartbeat; “Can I kiss you?” Aisha was taken aback because she didn’t even imagine Jeonghan asking for her consent for the kiss. Aisha’s eyes went to that one person who was looking at them with his undivided attention, she had one thing on her mind and that was to tell that one person that she was okay, she was better with Jeonghan now without any regrets because she deserved better.
“Kiss me. Kiss me hard Jeonghan, he needs to see what he came to see”
“I asked you for permission of the kiss not to kiss you as his payback for what he did Aisha” There was a shift in his voice, which Aisha didn’t expect. Jeonghan didn’t want to kiss her as a payback or as a show for Seungcheol, he was genuine when he asked, and saying no wasn’t that hard. Soon, Jeonghan cupped Aisha’s face and put his finger on her lips, so that when he kisses her; he would kiss his finger and not her but it would look like he kissed her.
Once he leaned in to kiss, the crowd cheered but Aisha was confused, and Jeonghan had his eyes closed. He wanted Aisha to understand that he wouldn’t do anything that she wanted as a payback to Seungcheol.
Once he pulled back with a smile, the whole crowd cheered again and the father announced, “And I announce them as husband and wife”
