Why Lucifer is A Good Brother

*Somewhat chronologically in order everything is canon and if you want the reference I’ll give it to you*

*Heavy spoilers*

Why Lucifer Is A Good Brother

All angels consider each other siblings but out of the millions, possibly billions of angels. Lucifer chose to take five brothers and a sister (originally) under his wing.

He gave Mammon a challenge to become his apprentice and when he succeeded he welcomed Mammon with open arms and never rejected him afterwards even with all the trouble he caused.

He gave Asmodeus the nickname “Jewel of the Heavens” something he still loves to this day even as a demon.

He made Levi feel seen and useful even after the peace treaty between realms made his position obsolete.

He bonded with Beelzebub who was originally his guard and took him and his twin under his wings. He also introduced Lilith to the twins who became inseparable.

Why Lucifer Is A Good Brother

When Lilith fell in love he visited the Human World to see if this man was good and kind.

When Lilith broke a Celestial Law this man WENT TO WAR WITH AN ENTIRE REALM and GOD to save her. He asked his brothers to side with him and carried guilt for doing so after the war.

Why Lucifer Is A Good Brother

After the war, he pledged eternal loyalty to the man in control of the realm he was at war with for most of his existence all to save his sister despite the humiliation. He saved her even though she wouldn’t remember him and he could never see her again and he carried the burden for thousands of years until MC’s ancestry was revealed.

The Devildom and Celestial Realm hold very strict laws so he took whatever means necessary punishment-wise to correct their behavior. In the Celestial Realm, it was so his brothers weren’t outcast and in the Devildom it was so they weren’t imprisoned or killed.

His brothers believe he’s more loyal to Diavolo than to them but he does this FOR them.

Why Lucifer Is A Good Brother

When the brothers struggled with becoming demons he was there to comfort them.

When he accidentally created Satan he took full responsibility for the absolute murderous maniac and did his best to raise the personification of hatred.

He cared about Satan so much that when the brothers were offered the chance to return to the Celestial Realm, the realm he once ruled, he told them to return and he alone would stay with Satan so he wouldn’t be alone. Even though this decision meant he wouldn’t be able to see his brothers and they’d be seen as enemies, he wanted what he believed was best for them and what they wanted.

Lucifer did everything he could to master new demon magic, insert himself into Devildom politics, and befriend his enemies all for his brothers’ sakes to give them the same position of respect they had in the Celestial Realm.

Why Lucifer Is A Good Brother

In Nightbringer when he was incarcerated in Cocytus the fact his brothers were being held too enraged him to the point he broke free and even fought Diavolo believing he had something to do with it. And when Raphael cried having to sentence him, Lucifer wasn’t angry he felt sorry for Raphael—a former brother.

Why Lucifer Is A Good Brother

Lucifer continuously fights those many times stronger than him all for his family’s sake.

Even though it pained him to see his former angelic brothers for the exchange program he remained cordial even though it was at first awkward and a reminder of all the pain of the past. He did this for his former brothers.

Why Lucifer Is A Good Brother

When Belphegor threatened treason and war, he lied to the ruler of the Devildom and hid Belphegor away to PROTECT him.

Why Lucifer Is A Good Brother

He lashed out at Mc and nearly killed them because he saw them as a threat to his brothers. First when Luke held the Grimoire that could control them and MC got in the way; then threatened them because they were making pacts with all his brothers; then why they betrayed him and found Belphegor because this could reach Diavolo and Belphegor would be punished for treason. In Nightbringer he originally remained suspicious and cold because MC could control his brothers without a pact and then had the grimoire which could control them. Lucifer only attacked MC when he was being protective of his brothers.

Why Lucifer Is A Good Brother

When Lucifer had amnesia he immediately bonded with his brothers again and revealed many things he’d done secretly to help them like pulling strings to get Mammon the car he worked so hard for.

Why Lucifer Is A Good Brother

He was even willing to sacrifice himself to let MC live who became family (or romantic interest—up to you) and his final ask was that they take care of his brothers.

Lucifer’s methods seem strict, unforgiving, and cruel but remember this is HELL, the DEVILDOM. Law only recently was created and Diavolo may be forgiving but who’s to say his father or descendants would be just as lenient? If his brothers don’t behave it could mean the worst and he refuses to lose another family member.

Oooo~ I really like this theory I know diavolo has said before that he doesn’t trust Simeon (something like that) and that’s from DIAVOLO he is very suspicious of Simeon

Obey Me Theory time!

Obey Me Theory Time!

The Luke plothole

(One of like three tbh)

Spoilers ahead!

Okay so the fact that Luke looked up to Lucifer when Lucifer was an angel raises just a TON of questions doesn't it?

Like, is Luke older then Satan? How do angels even age? Is this even still cannon since the devs said they were planning to go in a diffrent direction durring that part of the game?

But today I'm going to make a theory to fill in the question:

If Luke use to look up to Lucifer, why doesn't he know that Lilith ever existed?

Obey Me Theory Time!

I've heard this question tossed around before but everyone always just makes excuses like "They just didn't meet" or "Luke was too young to remember"

While both ideas could be valid I don't believe it. The game has implications that Luke wasn't alive at the same time as Lilith, but this directly contradicts the statement that he knew and looked up to Lucifer. And if he knew and looked up to Lucifer, did the man never mention his baby sister once?? Like even in passing?? And then what about the war?

Well it's probably just a plothole I'm overthinking,

But I have an idea!

What if Luke didn't actually know Lucifer as an angel?

What if instead he learned about Lucifer and his brothers after the fall through old documents and stories from others and came to look up to Lucifer through that.

I mean we already know Luke has a very strong moral code, perhaps Lucifer did some very honorable work as an angel that make Luke grow a respect for the man he once was before being "corrected".

Luke's moral compass could have led him to admire what Lucifer stood for before Michael caught on and 'steered Luke in the right direction'. Luke may not like demons but he couldn't have been born that way. Infact he may not have developed his fear and hatred before he knew about the War and how they fell.. or atleast the Celestial Realms versions of events.

I raise you that the Celestial Realm has been lying about it's history to Luke and all the other young angels for centuries! Twisting the events of a war to fit a narrative that quite literally demonised the demons, manipulating them into being complacent and obedient.

How do I know they'd be capable of this?

Because they've already lied before.

Think about it, Luke knows about the war. Simeon's mention the fall infront of him with no confusion and he obviously knows that the brothers use to be angels, and yet he has no idea who Lilith is.

You can't learn about a war without knowing it's cause, but if Luke was aware of the cause he would know who Lilith is.

Lilith was stricken from the history books.

It's all damage control from the rebellion.

Simeon's never spoken about her, Luke doesn't even know her name, no mention of Lilith is allowed.

The Celestial Realm is a toxic place and their main goal after the war is to keep angels obedient.

But what would they do if an angel isn't obedient? If they tried to tell the truth about Lilith?

Remember the angelic event?

THEY HAVE MIND CONTROL BRACELETS, LITERALLY.

Simeon acted like they were no big deal, but Luke was clearly afraid of it. He said three times in that event that he was scared or that he didn't like being around them.

Luke and all the other angels are being manipulated by an onslaught of lied, twisted narratives, and power control.

Or hey, maybe it's just a plot hole and I'm looking way too deeply into things! I doubt that this'll ever be cannon or even an answered question because the game likes to overlook Luke and all his serious trauma. A reason I've been playing it less is because I don't like how it doesn't stray too far away into more intresting territory, but that's just my opinion and I still love the characters and theories from the fandom! I personally do believe this but if you have any theories feel free to share them!

And remember that's just a theory, a dumb theory! Thanks for reading

(Idea originated by me on @asmo-ds 's discord, go check it out)

Okay I wanted to talk about this, not in the context of my AU for once but just because I as admin of this account am really fascinated by Michael.

I agree with both these people; I don’t view Michael as evil.

I think a lot of people who view Michael as evil just haven’t put much thought into the logistics of the Great Celestial War. Which, is understandable. The story we’re told is that he cast his own brothers out of the Celestial Realm for daring to defend their sister Lilith whose only crime was killing a human. It obviously paints in him a bad light.

…but you have to remember, you’re only hearing the brothers’ side of the story here. If you really think about the war and its implications, things become a lot more complicated, a lot less black-and-white.

The most glaring of these things I want to get out there is: If Father was willing to kill Lilith simply for saving the life of a human, what do you think he would have done to the brothers as punishment for rebelling against him? The answer is: probably not pretty. It would not have been a quick or pleasant death for any of them. And if he was willing to kill Lilith for FAR less, I’m certain he would have killed Lucifer and his brothers too. And they might not even have to wait to be taken to Father to be executed; they could have died in the heat of battle. It’s heavily implied that Lilith’s death was due to her wounds from battle rather than her fall, so obviously the battle was as nasty as the wars we know in our world.

But of course, that was only IF the brothers lost. Theoretically, if they won the war, they wouldn’t have been executed. But really, what are the chances of them winning? Yes, I understand that all of them- especially Lucifer- were EXTREMELY powerful angels. But Father is implied to be God himself. It isn’t easy to take down a god. We may not know much about Father’s specific powers, but based on what we’ve heard about him, and what we’ve heard about his Devildom equivalents, he seems to be an extremely powerful individual who would be almost impossible to take down.

Case in point, if Father was that powerful, then if he were overthrown, imagine how much that would have upset the order of the Celestial Realm and the balance of the three realms. It’s revealed in the chat “Helldown Day 1″ and in The Ring plotline of season 3 that the balance of the three world’s magic is a very fragile, and very important, thing. If the Celestial Realm suddenly lost their main source of power, it could be disastrous. Not to mention leave a massive political power vacuum, and leave the Celestial Realm open to attacks from the other two realms. We don’t really know how far Lucifer and his brothers were willing to take the rebellion, but if they were willing to take it to the extreme of incapacitating and/or killing Father, that likely would have created disastrous consequences whether Father were a good person or not.

There’s also the fact that, in general, wars have casualties. Look at the Lilith example used above; if she was mortally wounded like that, I can only imagine countless angels were wounded or killed by the brothers in the midst of battle.

These circumstances would have all surrounded Michael for the duration of war. He’s watching his twin brother Lucifer march to near certain death. He’s leading his brothers to what could very well be their execution. And he not only has to worry about the fate of Lucifer and his brothers, but also the other angels of the Celestial Realm who were likely being injured or killed by the brothers in battle. He was watching the imminent doom of the people he loved, on ALL sides.

This is why I think Michael made his decision to cast the brothers down: to stop the war. To protect them. To end the bloodshed.

The brothers were not safe in the Celestial Realm. They would have likely died in battle or died at the hands of Father after the war ended. I think Michael wanted to save them from this fate. And the only way he could think of at the time was to cast them out of the Celestial Realm’s reach, down to the Devildom. And in doing this, not only would Lucifer and his siblings have the best chance of survival, but the constant bloodshed of everyone Michael loved fighting each other to the death would cease.

Michael’s decision was far from perfect, and clearly caused IMMENSE trauma for the brothers that is completely valid and won’t go away no matter what the intentions behind it were. They have every right to be angry with him. But I don’t think Michael is a bad person. I don’t think Michael cast down the brothers as a punishment, or even out of anger. I think it came from a place of desperation. I think he did it because he thought it was the best he could do for them at the time.

I honestly don’t like the people in the fandom who portrays Michael as a bad or evil person but I really did love how you portrayed him !!!

Thank you 🥰 I don't see Michael as evil. The man has good intentions and his actions are done through what he sees is best for either humanity or the celestial realm. He is an angel and is described in canon to be kind and compassionate.

However, just because he has good intentions, doesn't mean they'll be read as such by others. That was the case in You Called?

Character File: Simeon

image

If I were ever to write a fic of this AU, my protagonist would definitely be Simeon.

As mentioned in the lore, Simeon is completely blind. He has no sense of sight, not even for distinguishing light and darkness, and his face is scarred over where his eyes formerly were. He wears a white blindfold to cover these scars.  In addition to his eyes, he has also sustained other damage, being covered in scars from popped heat blisters. His wings are charred, and only useful for flying short distances. Most of the remaining feathers on his wings have been turned black from soot.

Despite this, Simeon remains mostly independent. He utilizes many of the same tactics as other angels to compensate for lack of sight, and has remained an apt and reliable soldier for the Celestial Realm. Though, he does use Luke as a seeing eye dog sometimes.

He remains his usual smiley self instead of sinking into self-pity over his new-found disability- moping won’t bring back his sight, after all. He makes do the best he can, accepting that he can no longer see.

Simeon resides in in a military camp in the Human World, where he serves in the war along with Raphael, Michael, and other angels. He also smuggled Luke to this camp to protect him from the desolation of the Celestial Realm.

Though Simeon is a celestial soldier, he isn’t exactly loyal to the Celestial Realm. Deep down, he realizes that if the war continues as it has been, there will be no one left alive to claim victory. He is also extremely hesitant to fight Lucifer and his brothers again, should he encounter them in battle. Simeon has ended up breaking numerous rules to protect Luke- first, hiding the fact that Luke can still see from other angels so Luke wouldn’t be sent to war, and then sneaking Luke out of the Celestial Realm as a civilian once he realized the war-torn Human World was safer than what had become of the Celestial Realm. He’s at a point where he’s broken quite a few rules and isn’t afraid to break a few more. He won’t admit it, but he’s just a few hairs off from “fuck it”.

In a recent Devilgram, Simeon mentions that he’s a sort of “middle man” between the high-ranking angels and the lower-ranking angels.

I think that could be a really interesting thing working in his favor in this AU.

He’s a powerful authority figure, but also much closer with the lower-ranking majority and knows them much better than someone at the very top like Michael would. Meaning, those lower-ranking angels would likely be VERY willing to listen to their trusted Simeon once everything goes south.

The Root of Michael’s Insecurity

•Michael hasn’t been revealed in game, and we don’t even know if every time we’ve met him, it’s actually been him.

•We learned a little bit about the Celestial Realm through one of the latest moments in game. Which deals with “Father”

I honestly doubt there is an antagonist in this game. This game isn’t surrounded by the “hero vs. villain” concept. It’s mainly about broken characters trying their best to improve themselves. I feel like it’s obvious that Michael is also a broken character. From when we’ve met him (the moments we believe we did, at least) he’s always hid himself. Even when we did meet him in person (not in his own skin) he didn’t give off much confidence to me. To me, Michael seems like a very insecure person.

•However, I believe that ties into “Father” who I assume is Obey Me’s version of God.

I believe Michael’s insecurities didn’t stem from Lucifer simply existing. It might be a far stretch with pretty much zero evidence, but it’s a belief.

I think Father has a role in Michael’s insecure behavior, a major role at that. Clearly Lucifer was the pride of the Celestial Realm, which makes me wonder if he was what Father took pride in. I know it’s far fetched, but hear me out:

Favoritism Between Siblings:

•Lucifer was given the Ring of Light and Michael was given the Ring of Wisdom. While the Ring of Light was made from gold/silver, the Ring of Wisdom was made of brass/iron. That’s a big difference. (Like, c‘mon, at least give Michael silver.) If these were given to each by Father, which I assume they are, that’s clear favoritism. The sheer difference in material alone shows who was the clear favorite.

If I’m being honest, that’s really all the evidence I have of clear favoritism as we don’t know a lot about the Celestial Realm and Father. Hell, we know almost nothing about Michael and other Angels. However, this small, vague amount of evidence still leads me to believe Father has some role to play in the way Michael turned out.

•Michael’s insecure, I feel like that should be a given. He hides himself every time we meet him. Whether it be from a ray of light or even someone else’s body, we never see Michael. This is a man who is hiding himself, it’s a part of his character. Again, insecurity doesn’t stem from someone simply existing. I say, Father’s favoritism is the root of the problem.

•I say Father has favorites between all his children, and Michael is not one of them. Michael being the one Father looks past could be the root of his insecure behavior. It could be why he doesn’t show his face: he is the opposite of Lucifer. Michael is the opposite of Father’s favorite, looks wise at least. It’s been said that Michael and Lucifer are opposites, and Lucifer seems to be Father’s favorite. Michael being very loyal to Father, yet not being his favorite had to take a toll of what he thought of himself. His own creator chose another over him, instead of being fair to each. To add, this might also be the root of Michael’s obsession with Lucifer.

An Obsession Caused By Insecurity:

•It’s been said that Michael was a bit of a creep and has an obsession with Lucifer. He would sneak into Lucifer’s room and even had a shrine with his things. This isn’t even an attachment, it’s a major obsession. I’d say, Michael is obsessed with Lucifer because he’s Father’s vision of perfection. Michael is not the favorite, probably not even after the war. Michael probably found flaw after flaw in himself because of the favoritism Father (shamelessly?) displayed. He doesn’t look like Lucifer, he doesn’t look like Father’s favorite. He probably thought that Lucifer must’ve been what everyone thought was perfection. He must have thought that he was completely flawed because he wasn’t Lucifer.

•If anything, the shrine could be to showcase to Michael what he wished he could be. The thing he desired most, his ideal way of showing himself. Sneaking into the room is creepy in itself. I can’t defend that in any way. But, I’d say Michael did it because he wished to be close to what he wanted for himself.

•Michael most likely found himself pointing out every little thing about his personality and visuals. That’s probably why he hides himself. He looks nothing like Lucifer and is so insecure about it he doesn’t want to be seen. The favoritism got to his head and he sees himself as imperfect.

The Final Statement:

•Michael’s insecure behavior didn’t come from nowhere. I haven’t seen anyone dive into why Michael would be insecure, and I see why: There’s little to zero evidence about the reason. We know nothing about him, and I think that’s the point.

——

Michael is very insecure, I’ve said that many times. His insecure attitude towards himself probably came from Father and his favoritism. The whole Ring of Light and Wisdom situation, Lucifer being the pride of the Celestial Realm, all of it must’ve come to a head. It most likely broke Michael knowing he would never be Father’s favorite. He is Lucifer’s polar opposite by looks, and most likely personality. They have different interests, styles of punishment, and completely different personalities from the way Michael has acted in the past.

•Not only has Michael hid himself behind someone else’s body, but when in his true body, his first instinct was to run. When Raphael confronted him about his actions, he ran. He physically ran away from his problem. That’s insecurity in its finest form. Again, coming from favoritism. He isn’t Lucifer. He isn’t confident and prideful like him. He doesn’t seem to exert confidence, not the way Lucifer does, at least.

This may or may not be true. It’s a speculation and I had to read far between the lines for this idea.

Honestly, I think it might’ve played a role in the war. However, again, I see Michael being a victim just like the 7 brothers. I doubt jealousy was the sole motive for casting Lucifer out. If anything, it might’ve played a role, but I’d like to think that Father got into Michael’s head once again.

The Root of Michael’s Insecurity

•Michael hasn’t been revealed in game, and we don’t even know if every time we’ve met him, it’s actually been him.

I was going to draw him, but I don’t have the time right now, so here’s my take on what I think Michael might look like.

For the longest, I wasn’t following the long hair trend with him, but I think it fits him. Although this isn’t long it’s close to what I think fits him.

I have to draw him at some point I swear-

I love him so much I can’t-

I Was Going To Draw Him, But I Dont Have The Time Right Now, So Heres My Take On What I Think Michael

Michael and God

Something I’ll bring up in a future post is: Michael being God’s most loyal angel, yet not being the favorite. This isn’t proven, but it really just begs the question of: “Why?” I get it, the most loyal don’t always have to be the favorite, but still. Lucifer was (most likely) made in God’s image of perfection. Yet, most believe that Michael is the eldest.

So, why not make Michael the definition of perfection? Why not make him the most beautiful thing to exist? Why make him the most loyal, if loyalty isn’t included in your definition of perfection? It just continues to bring up the same question: “Why?” If Michael is the eldest, why not start out with making him perfect? If he’s supposed to be your most loyal angel, why isn’t loyalty included in your image of perfection? Why is it that the one that fell from your grace, is the one you consider to be prefect? Lucifer fell. Say all you want about him, but he fell from God’s grace. Yet, it’s still mentioned that he’s the Morningstar. What about Michael? The one who stood by God’s side, the one who still obeys him, doesn’t make the cut when it comes to perfection. It shouldn’t be that the one who fell from God’s is still the Morningstar. Yeah, sure, Lucifer’s name means “bearer of light”, but Michael’s name means, “who is like god?” To me, Michael’s name should mean more to God. But, it doesn’t seem that way. Only the Morningstar matters to everyone. But again,“Why? Why is Lucifer the one everyone talks about? Why not Michael? Why doesn’t Michael have a nickname like Lucifer? Why did Michael have to take on the burden of casting out his own siblings? Why couldn’t God do it? He’s literally God. Why did his children have to fight a battle for rebelling against rules he made? Why couldn’t God step in? Why did it have to be Michael?

Why?

It continues to bring up the same question over and over again. Yet, there are no answers. Michael took the burden of casting out his family, not God. The war was most likely caused by God not wanting Lilith’s actions to go unpunished. So why not have him handle the situation? Why let a full fledged war break out when he could’ve easily stepped in? What did God do? Did he sit back on his throne and watch everything play out? Did he expect something terrible to come out of it? Did he know? He’s God, he made everything. Does that mean he knew what would happen because it’s how he created it? If God has made any actions at all; were they intentional?

This just makes me ask more questions.

Lucifer fell from God’s grace, yet he’s God’s definition and image of perfection. Michael stood by his side, he stood loyal; yet he isn’t included in God’s image of perfection. If loyalty isn’t included in what makes one perfect in God’s eyes, then what is? Sin? Falling from Heaven? There’s no way. I get it, it was for his sister. But is that version of loyalty and love more important to God? So much more important that Lucifer is still praised for being the Morningstar while his most loyal angel and soldier sits on the sidelines; him too, believing that Lucifer is absolutely perfect. It doesn’t make sense.

The unexplained lore about the CR is scratching my brain in all the bad yet good ways.

A little Michael and Lucifer Drabble I wrote a while back but never got around to posting:

——

Michael paced around his bedroom as he finally realized what he had agreed to. His heels sharply turned to side to side and his pace picked up. He pulled on his blonde curls that were shoulder length. His blue eyes frantically looked around the room, trying to understand what he had agreed to.

“I just agreed with Father . . . to kill my own family.” He cried as he fell to his knees. He knew his Father was the supreme leader, but what was obeying him worth when he would betray his own family?

“Why would I agree to such a thing?” He questioned himself. At the same time, how could he not listen? It was an order from the one who made him, the one who gave him life. Why would he not listen? If he didn’t listen . . . what would happen to him? Michael didn’t want to entertain that thought for much longer. It’s not like he could, anyway, as someone knocked at his door.

“Michael?” Lucifer spoke on the other side of the door.

No . . . No . . .

“Are you alright? You’ve been in your room since you met with Father.”

No . . . No . . . No . . .

Michael couldn’t open the door.

Lucifer’s knocking continued, worried for his brother. Michael never spent all day in his room, so why now? What changed?

“I know you’re in there, so just open the door please, or, at the very least respond to me.”

No . . .

“Please, Michael, you’re worrying me. Even other angels have noticed your absence. I tried to leave you alone, but I can’t.”

The thought have having to harm Lilith brought more tears to Michael’s eyes. More came down at the thought of Lucifer’s reaction when he would inevitably find out.

Eventually, Lucifer stopped knocking. Michael couldn’t hear him at the other end anymore. He wiped his face as he heard one final, gentle knock.

“Michael?” Raphael spoke at the other end. The elder gasped, sharp enough for Raphael to hear. “Lucifer sent me, since apparently you’re refusing to talk.”

“I’m fine, Raphael.” Michael’s words came out more shaky than he expected. Raphael stood silent, but Michael knew his cover had been blown. Raphael knew and Michael hated it. The thought of his younger brother hearing him cry, potentially seeing it if he opened the door. How could he be weak at a time like this? How could he look at the people he would betray? Michael held his head in his hands, leaning forward as he tried to silence his cries. He wanted to silence every thought.

“Why does it have to be me that commits the act?”
