i can already see artists cooking with these scylla-odysseus parallels in animatics for the song "odysseus".
honestly, i have already imagined shot for the line "do you think I don't my own palace? I built it" where odysseus is suddenly behind suitors' backs, holding the severed heads of their comrades, to show the men, who disrespected his family and home, what he is going to do to them. the abandoned torch is only lighting his face, so it kind of looks like he has six heads.
"odysseus" has SO much scylla-odysseus parallels already, and it's just a snippet, i'm gonna scream right now (aiming for the torches?? odysseus hiding in shadows??? UHHHH)
and also in "monster" odysseus says the he "will become the monster, lurking deep below" (JUST LIKE SCYLLA)

“Choose, you or your crew.” Odysseus feels exhausted, the guilt dragging him down. He wants to be angry and scream at the gods for this but he doesn't have the energy anymore. In the end Eurylochus is right since he had all the power he must carry all the blame. He should have led them better. His arrogance in revealing his name to the cyclops caused 550 men to drown. He had failed to keep the bag closed. Then his first mistake of deciding to go to the cyclops cave caused Polites to die…Gods what would Polites think if he could see the monster he had become? Maybe he deserves to die and at least this way he could spare his crew. But then there is Penelope and Telemachus. He may be tainted in blood and death but he has to get home and keep them safe. He is the only one who can make sure they are safe.
“..Captain?” His brother begs for an answer just like he did after the lair of Scylla.
“Eurylochus.” That's right he's not the only one that could keep them safe…Eurylochus is his brother in law, surely he would keep his family safe for him. He has decided then but he has to apologize first, for failing as their Captain.
“Im sor-” Before he can finish he coughs up blood staring at the sword in his chest in shock. The sword is pulled out and he starts to fall. Before he hits the deck, arms wrap around him and hold him gently. He looks up and sees Eurylochus there, tears streaming down his face.
“I'm sorry Ody but I can't let you sacrifice the crew.” Odysseus feels the urge to laugh at the irony. He guesses this is a fitting way for him to die. Even if he may have deserved it he feels tears fall as the wound from the betrayal that had not yet healed is ripped open again. Still he doesn't want Eurylochus to feel more guilt than he already will.
“I forgive you. Can you take care of Penelope and Telemachus for me please?” His request is tinged with desperation as he waits for Eurylochus to answer
“Of course I swear I will keep them safe for you.” Odysseus nods and another cough, more blood lost.
“Hey Zeus, I choose to die in my crew's place!” A pause before Zeus replies
“Very well Odysseus of Ithaca. You will be dead soon anyway .” Zeus leaves and Eurylochus gently holds Odysseus close, both of them crying. Odysseus feels his vision turning black and he knows his time is almost out.
“I'm sorry Eury…for everything. I only hope that Polites will forgive me when we meet again…Thank you…” His final words said he goes limp in Eurylochus arms.
“No brother, I'm the one who should be sorry..” Eurylochus whispers as he sobs over Odysseus body.
Something I've been thinking of. Assuming it takes at least a few days (if not longer) to get to Scylla from where the sirens are, they would have to make the choice of keeping those sirens alive or dead.
If they're dead, they may start to rot, and idk if Scylla wouldn't accepted them rotten. She might've felt disrespected by a rotten sacrifice and attacked the whole ship anyways.
If they're kept alive.. Well the crew would have to keep them alive. And more importantly, on the ship. They would likely have to keep the beeswax in their ears the whole time they sailed, which I imagine is not a great option considering everything they've already dealt with and continue to deal with.
It's not a bad idea, there's just a lot that would have had to be considered. Either that or I'm overthinking again. Idk it's 1am and I'm in Epic brainrot mode.

What if when calypso said "Ody get away from the ledge" and Odysseus starts thinking about all the people who died or left him including Polites' "this life is amazing when you greet it with open arms" Ody is not just standing on the ledge of a cliff about to jump, but he is standing on the ledge, arms spread wide, thinking "I know this isn't what you meant, but it's all I can do anymore." He is standing with his arms open, teetering between killing himself and thinking he doesn't even deserve that.
Odysseus is contemplating greeting his own suicide with open arms

EPIC Thunder Bringer Fic idea
so I have a fix idea I wanted to share. I am writing it but I would also love to see if anybody else would write it and the way others will take it so please feel free to use it just make sure to let me know so I can enjoy it as well!
Anyway the brain sends electric signals to make the body move right? Then what's to stop Zeus from basically hijacking someone he can use his power over lightning and stuff to send electric signals and control someone's body.
So imagine this...Zeus makes Ody choose and of course he chooses himself to live but then Zeus says ODY has to be the one to kill them. Ody refuses to be the one to kill him. Now Zeus takes control of Ody and forces him to kill the crew. He is aware the entire time but Zeus is controlling his body.
That or he controls the crew to attack him and he has to either kill them or die either way lots of good angst potential!
Different Beast animatic idea
I really want an animatic for Different Beast where during the siren asking for mercy they all transform into different people as a last ditch effort to persuade them. I'm talking one of penelope (for ody ofc), ctimene (for eurylochus), and elpenor (for perimedes). To make it worse it shows them being not okay while they cut off the tails of their respective sirens imitations. They are devastated and uneasy about it and that could be why they switch to HE is a different beast now instead of WE are a different beast now.
