MILD OMORI SPOILERS (?)

MILD OMORI SPOILERS (?)
MILD OMORI SPOILERS (?)

i wish they got to interact more man so i drew this lil test for some headspace v real world stuff!

I’d like to think Omori is his inner child as well, and the marks on Sunny’s mind make him a much angrier kid so he lashes out at him. All Sunny wants to do is dream. All Omori wants to do is have a dream of their own.

You Sit There, Sinking, Barely Struggling- As Waves Of Emotions Wash Over You, Pulling You Under.

You sit there, sinking, barely struggling- as waves of emotions wash over you, pulling you under.

White space is a starting place for Sunny and, in turn, Omori. It’s the very first room headspace ever made him. If he doesn’t distract himself, he finds himself sinking back into those feelings that created it to protect him in the first place.

BasilKel Swap Prologue Part 1

NEIGHBOR'S ROOM

WHITE SPACE's door swung open to a colorfully decorated room. Omori’s socked feet sank into the soft pink carpet, and they glanced around the room. A picture and a blender sat all the way at opposite ends of the counter, and next to the blender, a toaster and an unopened present surrounded a plush pillow shaped like a girl’s head. In one corner of the room, a tree had grown tall, scraping the roof of the Neighbor’s Room, and in the opposite corner a scrapbook filled with pictures lay open. A blue cardboard box sat next to a puddle of water that seemed to ripple endlessly.

In the center of the room, Omori’s friends were playing a game of cards.

His eyes met a familiar, shorter boy’s, and with a gasp of excitement, Basil jumped up and raced forward, playing cards and loose leaves and petals scattered in his path.

“OMORI! I was hoping you would show up!” he cheered, eyes glittering happily. “We were about to start another game! Do you wanna join us?”

“Ahem!” Aubrey cleared her throat, and he turned back to see her glare, and the overturned cards.

“Oh, um! Whoops, heh heh,” Basil got quieter, flushing pink at the trail he'd left.

Aubrey crossed her arms, face all puffed up. “Basil! You should know to be more careful about that by now! You can’t get that upset about losing a game!”

Hero raised an eyebrow, “Hey now, Aubrey, calm down. It’s just a game, after all.”

She glared at him too, before whipping her head to the side. “You’re just saying that because you were winning, Hero!”

Hero sighed, and Basil began to scoop up the cards near him.

“I’m sorry Aubrey! I didn’t even think about it.” He rubbed the back of his head as he picked up the last one, and she glared. Nervously, he clasped his hands together and gave her his best puppy dog eyes. “Please? I really didn’t mean it.”

She stared at him for a second more, before gently thwacking his arm with Mr. Plantegg and huffing. “Fine! But don’t do it again.” Hero laughed under his breath, and she wacked his arm too, harder this time. “And don’t you say anything!”

Basil was wearing the same thing as always: A soft short-sleeve shirt, a pair of baggy sweatpants with deep pockets, his jump rope tied tight around his waist as a belt, and one of his dozens of flower crowns. This time, his Flower Crown was made of yellow and orange flowers with long triangular petals and thin, protruding plant… things? Twigs?

Omori didn’t know the word.

It was pretty, and clearly made with all the love and care Basil always showed his creative projects, but it still seemed to be falling apart. Even as Omori watched, it shed another petal into Basil’s hair. Huh.

Basil reached up to fiddle with the flowers, frowning. Behind him, Aubrey was giggling to herself, and Omori turned to look at her.

She was focused on something in her hands, and when he stepped closer, she looked up and beamed at him, glowing yellow, faintly.

“Oh, Omori! Look at this!” Aubrey held up a small rock, smiling mischievously. “It’s a pet rock! And not just any old pet rock, either. I nabbed it from Kel when he wasn’t looking!” The rock stared up at Omori from her hand, seemingly unphased. “Hehe~ Are I the greatest? I think I’ll call them… Roro!” Hero glanced over, brow creasing.

“I don’t think you can just rename Kel’s pet rock like that, Aubrey.” he said, then more to himself, “And you probably shouldn’t steal from him either. You’ll have to give it back at the picnic. Alright?”

She rolled her eyes, then put the newly renamed Roro in her dress’ pocket. “I bet Roro’s a better name than whatever he’s thought up.”

Omori turned his attention to the eldest, and Hero smiled warmly.

“What’s up Omori? We’ve been waiting for you, you know?” Hero greeted. He glanced at Aubrey and Basil as they reorganized the cards, then sighed. “Kel and Aubrey have been going at it again. You’d think they’d get tired of it, but they’re both just so full of energy.”

“Kel starts it!” Aubrey yelled.

Basil made a face. “You shouldn’t talk about someone when they’re not there. Kel can’t defend himself!”

“Pbbbt!” She blew a raspberry at him. “I’m right, though!”

Hero watched them, then shook his head. “It’s to the point where Kel won’t even come into the Neighbors room if Aubrey’s here.” he said, then perked up a little. “He’s with Mari, at her picnic! We’ll set out as soon as everyone’s ready.”

Basil looked up from where he’d been adjusting his flower crown, smiling softly as he did.

“It’s nice to see you again, Omori! It's no fun getting caught between Aubrey and Kel’s fights on my own. Heh heh.” He paused to readjust his crown again, only to sigh as one of the flowers fell apart between his fingers. “Ah, there it goes again… whenever I get caught up in their arguments like that, my FLOWER CROWNS just fall apart. I feel so bad for the flowers...” He looked blue, staring at the petaled remains for a moment.

Their bow wearing friend jumped to her feet, eyes wide. “That’s why it falls apart so easy? I’m sorry Basil!”

He shook his head smiling, and the SADness faded away. “It's okay! That’s why I make so many of them! There’s not really anything I can do to stop it, after all. Flower crowns only last so long.”

“But still! I bet it feels weird to go out without something cute like that after wearing it for so long. Do you have another one you can wear?” Aubrey tilted her head. Basil shrugged, so she turned to Omori. “No way there’s not at least one CUTE ACCESSORY in here. Omori, let’s look for one! We’ve gotta look our best for Mari’s picnic! Right, Hero?”

Omori didn’t wait for an answer, already wandering around the room.

Basil waved his hands frantically. “It’s really no big deal, Aubrey! I don’t really need a flower crown, y’know?”

“Yeah, but they’re super cute, and you always wear them! Plus, it’s Kel’s fault they fall apart in the first place, isn’t it?”

Basil shrunk in on himself, mumbling “not on his own,” under his breath as Hero stepped in.

“Hey, Aubrey, calm down. If you want to look around, it should be just fine,” Hero glanced at the Giant Yellow Cat, thinking. “We do have some time to spare… Just don’t be too long.”

“We won’t! We’re a great team after all, right Omori?” the girl cheered. It was at that point that she noticed the monochrome boy had wandered off. “Omori?”

There was the sound of tearing paper, and the group jumped. They all whipped around to see Omori standing over the box, holding a flower crown made of dandelions.

“Huh? What- Oh, you found one! Good job Omori!” Basil cheered.

Aubrey made a face as Omori handed the DANDY CROWN over. “Hey, aren’t those weeds, though? Don’t you want a nicer flower?”

“Of course not!” Basil smiled up at her, eyes alight. “Dandelions are actually very interesting plants! For one, they’re edible, almost the whole flower- just not the stem. And they’re good for you, too!”

He held up the crown, turning it this way and that, as if showing the crown off at a new angle would let the others see the benefit of the ‘debatably a weed’ crown. Omori leaned a bit closer to get a better view as Basil continued.“They’ve got a lot of vitamins in them. Because of that, some places used to use them in medicine to help cure all kinds of illnesses, without even knowing what they were caused by! Oh, and they mean something neat too! Dandelions symbolize rebirth, growth, and hope!”

Hero smiled as he thought to himself, remembering something. “Don’t they have something to do with wishes, too?” Basil beamed at the eldest.

“Mm hmm! But not when they’re flowers like this. They have to get all puffy first, and then you can blow all the seeds away to get a wish!”

Basil grinned, seemingly gearing up for another round of Fun Plant Facts, when he noticed Omori staring at him.

“Uh, a-anyway! Thank you for your help, Omori!” Basil sputtered, placing the crown in his hair and looking away in a fluster. “you’re the best…” his voice trailed off at the end, barely a whisper as his face glowed with blush.

Aubrey giggled to herself. ”Ooohh~! Is something wrong Basil? Do you have a cruush~?” She teased. The flower lover glared up at her, blush still shining.

Basil and Aubrey distracted by her teasing, the youngest turned back to Hero.

“Hey, thanks for helping settle that, Omori! I was a little worried that we’d end up looking for flowers all day again.” Hero ruffled his hair gently, chuckling kindly. “Mari invited us for a picnic at the playground, you know. Kel’s waiting for us there, too! Do you want to go see them?”

Seeing two of his favorite people? ‘Yes’ please!

Omori nodded, a bit more force than normal, and Hero ruffled his hair again.

“Alright everyone… Let’s go to the picnic!”

The group fell in line behind Omori, and he started towards the stairs. Then, he stopped to think. The neatly stacked cards seemed to call to him from the floor.

‘Do you want to play cards with your friends?’

The game moved quickly, most victories going to Omori, with Aubrey and Basil battling for second and Hero lagging behind.

‘The cards have been rescattered all over the floor, as is the fate of all toys brought into the Neighbor’s Room.’

‘Card Carnage. Cardnage. A true crime.’

BasilKel Swap Prologue Part 2

VAST FOREST PLAYGROUND

Basil breathed deeply, seemingly brightening as the group crawled out from under the stump.

“It’s so nice to get some fresh air, isn’t it?” He said, already smiling.

Hero chuckled, shaking his head fondly. “To quote Kel from this morning, ‘gotta love that nature.’” Basil giggled. “Hmm… Aubrey’s taking a while, isn’t she?”

As if on cue, her voice yelled from inside the stump. “Hey!! Wait a sec!!”

Turning back revealed Aubrey halfway out of the stump, leg stuck in place.

“Help me up guys! My foot’s stuck!” She said looking about as furious at a tree as a 12 year old could get.

“Oh! Hang on Aubrey, I’ll help!” Basil rushed over, pulling on her arms without hesitation. He strained as hard as he could, before falling backwards, Aubrey still firmly stuck. “Urf! S-sorry!”

“What the heck!? Did someone put glue down or something? Omori, get me out of here!” Aubrey grumbled.

Basil winced. “Sorry…” he muttered, shrinking into himself as Omori stepped past. The monochrome boy pocketed his knife, and grabbed onto her arms, yanking Aubrey out without issue.

“Hmph! Stupid tree!” She huffed, giving it a whack with Mr. Plantegg for good measure, then walking over to the others.

“I’m sure the stump didn’t mean it, Aubrey,” Hero said. She rolled her eyes.

‘Do you want to build sand castles with your friends?’

Basil drew in the sand as Omori and Aubrey worked on their castles. Hero sat on the dock, kicking his feet in the water.

Slowly but surely, Aubrey’s castle took the shape of a tall spire, Omori’s taking on a familiar cat statue, and Basil’s swirling patterns stretched out, spiraling and expanding across the sand.

‘Your creations may be fated to fade with the tide, but this memory will live on within you.’

Hero lost his balance as he stepped back onto the sand, tripping and destroying half of Basil’s art. He sputtered as he stood up, Basil and Aubrey both laughing at the sand on his face and in his hair.

‘Well, either the tide or Hero.’

FOREST PLAYGROUND

Omori looked over the playground as the four approached their destination, taking in the familiar swing set and slide already in use by other kids. He glanced at the nearby signboard for a second, catching sight of a colorful paper- 'Is that Berly's "No BOSS Zone" poster?'- but before he could get any closer, someone called out to them.

"OVER HERE, GUYS!!"

At the edge of the park, sitting on a familiar gingham blanket, Mari and Kel had been looking at a shiny thing the brunet was holding, talking to each other quietly; But after Kel spotted them, he shot to his feet, yelling and waving wildly with his free hand.

Kel wearing his favorite t-shirt and shorts. The shirt was clearly a hand-me-down from Hero, as it was at least two sizes too big on him, and had a graphic too faded to recognize. A brightly colored checkerboard blanket was tied tight around his shoulders.

“MARI!! HEY!” Aubrey cheered, rushing past Omori and Basil towards the picnic.

Immediately, Kel puffed up his chest and looked more like a frog than the superheroes he tried to emulate. “Hey yourself! I’m right here! Don’t ignore me!” Omori patted his shoulder as he stopped near his best friend, and Basil rushed to hide between Mari and Hero. Just in case Aubrey and Kel decided to get into another fight, clearly.

“Oh hello Aubrey! Hello, everyone!” Mari patted the flower-loving boy on the head as she continued. “What have you guys been up to?”

Aubrey yelled, “KEL’S BEING MEAN TO ME AGAIN!!” and Kel jumped in place, arms flailing and bouncing his cape as he did.

“HEY!!”

Ignoring Hero’s confused “what?” and Basil’s nervous chuckling, Mari gave a fake gasp.

“Oh, no! Not again… How could he?”

“AM NOT!! I’VE BEEN HERE WITH MARI THE WHOOOLE TIME!!” He stopped jumping and pointed at the younger girl, sticking out his tongue. She blew a raspberry back at him.

“Well, that’s a very good point, Kel! Hmm…” Mari tapped her chin, pretending to wonder if Kel could have really been mean to Aubrey while being with her all morning.

“Aubrey’s just being whiny!”

“Am not!

“Are too!”

“AM NOT! You put glue in the tree stump so I’d get stuck!”

"Hah! It was syrup, not glue!" He gloated, crossing his arms and puffing up his chest. “And you can't prove that I wasn't trying to lure some gross bugs!”

"Yeah right!"

He kept his 'heroic' pose, as he called it, until the fight drained out of him suddenly, and he tilted his head to the side, unable to stop grinning. “So, did it work? Did I catch anything gross in it?”

Aubrey flickered red, seething. "No, you just caught ME!"

"So it did work!"

“KEL!!!”

“O-kay!” Hero stepped in quickly, a hand on each shoulder to placate the warring children. “That’s enough, you two. Kel, you shouldn’t mess with Aubrey like that. She could’ve gotten really hurt. And Aubrey, you can’t blame Kel for everything. I know you two like to fight, but you need to tone it down, okay? No more prank wars.”

The two were silent, eyes lowered from the shame of being called out by the older brother. Kel was curling in on himself, and Aubrey was so red in the face Omori half thought she was going to combust.

“Well, well, looks like you handled that pretty well, Hero!” Mari smiled warmly. Her smile turned sly, and she raised an eyebrow. “I’m really glad you’re being all responsible. I really like that about you~ hehe!” She teased, and Hero flustered.

“I- C-come on Mari! Not now.”

She laughed.

“While we were waiting for you guys, Kel was showing off his new video camera!” Mari said, and Kel’s eyes brightened.

“Oh, yeah! Check it out!” Kel held out the silvery camcorder, and grinned wildly. “I use it to record cool stuff, so that we can see it again later! Y’know? Just like a movie!!”

Aubrey blew another raspberry at him. “What’s the point of that? Basil already does that with his camera! We’ve still got the photo album in the Neighbor’s Room, remember?” He rolled his eyes.

“Well, duh! Those are Basil’s memories! These are mine!” He pulled the viewing screen out, Omori and Basil leaning in to watch, and pulled up a video of Mari and Hero organizing the picnic basket from what must have been earlier that morning.

[“- key is to pack a lot of different things! After all, you guys like running around and fighting, right?” Mari asked.

“I wouldn’t say we like fighting. More of… Well, it’s kind of inevitable, isn’t it?” Hero shook his head as he placed a sandwich into the basket. “With the Sprout Moles that get lost, and the Forest Bunnys- Mari, stop laughing at me!”

She covered her mouth, but laughed anyway, shaking her head.

“Really? Forest Bunnys, bro?” Kel asked from behind the camera, and Hero jumped, turning gray for a split second from shock.

“KEL?! What are you-”]

“Tada!” Kel cheered! “That’s a One Hundred Percent Kel Original Memory!”

Basil blinked before grinning happily. “Well, I like it! This way, we’ll have more memories to look back on, won’t we?”

The caped boy grinned, bouncing in place. “Exactly! You get it!”

Aubrey crossed her arms, huffing. “I think I like Basil’s pictures more.” She grumbled. Kel made a face at her, then whipped around to face Omori, grinning to himself when his cape swatted Aubrey’s face.

“Hey, hey, Omori! You’re coming over to our house today, right? I got some new stuff I wanna show you!”

Omori tilted his head, and Kel beamed at him.

“I got some new movies for everyone, and! I got the latest edition of ‘Super Star Chasers‘! It finally updated again! And it’s ALL about Constella Ibis this time! Apparently, it’s super good, ‘cause she’s learning to use that new magic from last time, and-”

“Hey, slow down Kel,” Hero interrupted, ruffling his hair. Kel scrunched up his nose in annoyance. “I’m sure Omori’s interested, but it’s not fair to just invite one person over when you’re hanging out in a group.”

Kel blinked, as if just realizing the others were there. “Oh. Oh, right! Well, that’s okay, you guys can come over, too!” He gasped, suddenly elated, eyes shining. “Ohh! We could have a sleepover, and watch those new movies! And, and! We could even make a blanket fort! Hero and I are the /best/ fort makers, remember? IT’LL BE SO COOL!!”

“That sounds fun,” Basil smiled. “I grew some strawberries the other day; We could make muffins with them!”

Aubrey hummed to herself. “Mmm… I guess it could be kinda,” She paused, looking at Kel’s glowing cheer. “... alright-ish.”

“I think I’ll have to sit this one out,” Mari said, laughing softly. “You all go on and enjoy yourselves. And if you want a snack, you can always stop by!”

“Thanks Mari,” Hero smiled. He already looked a little tired.

‘Probably from having to babysit you all on his own. You almost feel bad, but the thought of the newest ‘Super Star Chasers’ edition makes it hard not to be excited.’

Kel either didn’t notice, or didn’t care. He cheered, pumping both arms in the air with a wild grin.

“Yeah!! Let’s go!”

‘Ah yes, some nutritious candy. Would you like to eat some?’

Basil dug through the pile for a moment, then frowned. “Huh? Aubrey, did you take all of the Watermelon flavored?”

“Should’ve grabbed them faster then, Basil!” She teased, nudging his arm and eating another in victory.

“That’s not fair!” He pouted. “I didn’t know we were eating yet.” The flower crown spat a single slim petal into the air, and Mari giggled.

Hero stepped over, trying to talk them into calming down, and Kel snickered as he chewed a piece of orange taffy. Omori had only just begun reaching for the pile when the shorter boy all but threw himself onto his shoulder.

“Hang on a sec!” He said, and dropped a small baggie of chocolate candies into his friend’s hand. “Here! I saved you some Chocolates! They’re your favorite, right?”

Omori looked over the sweets, then to the caped boy. ‘They aren’t your absolute favorite, but they’re pretty high up there. You’ll give him this one.’ He nodded, and Kel beamed brighter.

‘You obtained BAG OF CHOCOLATES.’

‘You and your friends feel like new!’

A Strange OMORI Dream I Had Yesterday, Visualized

A strange OMORI dream I had yesterday, visualized

ALT text under the cut

[Image Description -

The image has a vertical format: In upper half shows a starry cloudless sky. Central on the ground is Omori driving on a brown moped, emotionless. The ground he is driving on is a giant eye, like the eye of Something.

The black of the Something-ground develops into the lower half. It shows a large blood red body of water, with a smaller version of Omori on the side pushing a Sunny towards the lake. Sunny is just as emotionless and has his eyes closed. Both boys are proportionally more like the ingame sprites like this was a scene in the game. This scene is framed with thick black eyelashes and rather dark compared to the upper part.

End I.D.]

through the looking glass again, or re-establishing colour theory in OMORI

WARNING: MAJOR OMORI SPOILERS.

CONTENT WARNING: REFERENCES TO SUICIDE, DEATH, LOSS, AND GRIEF.

A while ago, I wrote what I consider to be my magnum opus - an analysis discussing deliberate colour theory and windows in OMORI. This analysis is excellent, it is the fundamentals of almost all my other analyses, but it is disorganised and I don't get my point across as adequately as I need to.

The main reason for this is, well, I discover things as I write about them, so my points tend to get lost. Lmao.

So, I'm going to reframe my analysis by establishing the purpose of each colour I discuss. Hopefully this reaches a wider audience and is more digestible than my ramblings.

Saturated Blue

Saturated blue is a very deliberate colour choice - we know this from Omocat herself. Let's establish where it is used:

It is the colour of the Phobias, and Sunny's house during Phobia sequences. The use of saturation conveys intensity and fear, and there is a sense of impending failure - we cannot "beat" any of these boss fights by normal means, but instead are doomed to lose or wait until Mari consoles us.

It's prevalent in the Deeper Well, but notably absent from many Black Space rooms, who choose to use solid monochrome or other colours to convey emotion. It still exists within Black Space despite this.

In a similar way, it exists with the Basil boss fight, but more features are monochrome, which ties it more closely with the Truth.

Saturated blue is also the colour of Hellmari, but I will discuss her in depth later.

This blue is also deliberately not black - this somewhat disconnects these segments from the Truth, and considering how the Phobia bosses were formed, I propose that the ultimate purpose of this colour is to provide a comparison between Mari saving Sunny's life and Sunny ending hers.

This comparison is essential to the game, and yet absent from a lot of key moments. Highlighting this juxtaposition would have fixed these two narratives into a cohesive whole.

Red Light, streaming through windows

I am talking about red light in particular - while red is carefully used in the final boss fight, Red Space, several areas of further Black Space and in the Red Hands, red has more complex meanings in this game, where it depends entirely on the other colours around it:

Red and black represents malicious intent - this is present in several areas of Red Space and the Omori boss fight.

Red and white is more closely tied to repression - notably present in the red hands, some areas of Red Space and the Omori boss fight.

Red standing out against the Dreamworld is tied to Truth - present in the bloody footprints.

However, red light streaming through windows has its own specific meaning - it is designed to feel wrong, the same way the encroaching fog across vast forest feels wrong, and the deeper well's atmosphere feels wrong.

This gets even more important during the Truth sequence, where are introduced to red light streaming through the sliding glass door.

Through The Looking Glass Again, Or Re-establishing Colour Theory In OMORI

The sliding glass door in Omori is both a window and a door - letting in the eerie red light, but also letting the player (and Sunny) access it and understand it for the first time. Sunny never represses the sliding glass door, but will refuse to go outside until forced by his friends in Faraway visiting the Treehouse. It is opaque and cannot be seen through.

Entering the door leads to the peak combination of our colour theory.

Through The Looking Glass Again, Or Re-establishing Colour Theory In OMORI

This first looks like a fade between red and purple, but the only possible relevance purple would have is its association with Mari.

This colour scheme is actually the result of a fade between red and saturated blue. Combining the colours of the Phobias, fear, as well as Mari's support and safety, and the day of the Phobias' creation; and the Truth, repression, and the fateful day of the recital. This is the game's big (failed) comparison, and the main purpose of mentioning the creation of the Phobias at all.

These two days are designed to compare Mari and Sunny, increasing his guilt as he remembers the way his sister generously saved his life, and remembers what he did to kill her.

Monochrome

Monochrome is a key colour associated with Truth in Omori, and it does so in a relatively obvious way.

It is the colour of White Space, Black Space, Something, Stranger, and, notably, the colours of the photos that show the player the Truth. In this way, monochrome simultaneously represents repression of the Truth and the past; but also the desire to uncover it.

Areas and characters that contain more black than they do white tend to represent truth, whereas the opposite tend to represent repression, save for portions of the Final Duet and the Hospital, where white represents acceptance.

White also symbolises Sunny, shown in the pinwheels, and it has further meaning in the multiple flowers associated with it.

Spirit Mari is also associated with monochrome, her sprites existing in this colour.

Establishing the presentation of monochrome and saturated blue allow us to understand the mechanics of Headspace itself.

Despite Stranger's quote, Sunny, Basil and Mari are all split in halves, each half with different goals. Sunny, although he doesn't always know it, wants to seek the Truth; but Omori wants to repress it. Stranger wants to free the real world's Basil; but Headspace Basil is a representation of desire, the idea that everything is okay. In a similar way, Spirit Mari wants Sunny to seek forgiveness, and Hellmari is a hallucination of a Mari who would never forgive him

Pastel Blue

The final duet has a very key theme of acceptance and ascension, which is particularly present in this scene.

Through The Looking Glass Again, Or Re-establishing Colour Theory In OMORI

The whiteness of the area is highlighted with a light, pastel blue. Unlike the horror of saturation, pastel in-game represents peace and purity, being directly contrasted with each other. Pastel isn't symbolic of repression, although it is the main theme during the happier segments of Headspace. These particular colours - white and pastel blue - are also found in the Hospital, and in the final scene of the good ending. Pastel means acceptance, and it means there is no need to "saturate" the events of the recital day.

Here, the colour gradient, and Mari ascending through the window, are symbols of freedom. Sunny has accepted the Truth, and can now properly grieve his lost sister in peace. Simultaneously, you could argue Mari's spirit is finally free - she isn't tied down by Sunny's repression, and her ascending through the window is symbolic of finally entering the afterlife.

OMORI wants the best for SUNNY. After the move, OMORI watches from the depths of SUNNY as his mental health deteriorates from the overwhelming plunge into reality. With the hands-off approach SUNNY's mother has and the lack of support around him, OMORI decides that telling the truth isn't worth it, and he snaps.

Becoming O.MORI and taking matters into his own hands to reform the FARAWAY gang into fragments of what they used to be and then some—O.MORI will make sure SUNNY is happy again, no matter what it takes.
