!! SEA SLUG APPRECIATION POST !!
( PLUS FUN FACTS !! )
because sea slugs are absolutely beautiful

fun fact 1 - some sea slugs eat prey that is poisonous! but instead of it killing them, they store up the poison and release it against other predators

fun fact 2 - similarly to land snails, some sea slugs can have both male and female sexual organs and can have both at the same time

fun fact 3 - some sea slugs can be as small as sand particles or as big as 12 inches in length

fun fact 4 - (this one is a bit more obvious but) sea slugs belong to the same class of animals as land slugs

fun fact 5 - as pretty as they are , most sea slugs should not be handled by humans. as a lot are toxic ! do not handle a colorful sea slug unless you 100% know what you are doing!

fun fact 6 - sea slugs do have eyes but they arent good at seeing things at all.. they mostly can only sense light and darkness

((ooh moving onto gifs))
fun fact 7 - the slug shown above is a sea bunny !!! and its obviously named that because if how it looks like a bunny rabbit !!

fun fact 8 - slugs are cool and really pretty !!! and you are cool too :)
FEEL FREE TO ADD MORE SLUG PHOTOS / GIFS !!!!! i think they r so neat

Nudibranchs as pictured by a Japanese illustrator named Kumataro Ito, artist for the USS Albatross’ Philippine Expedition, 1907–10. This is one of those ridiculous animals that I saw pictures of in books when I was young and somehow it never entirely clicked that they are real :D
The Sea Creature of the Day is the Blue Sea Dragon!!! (Glaucus Atlanticus)

i've been thinking a lotttttt about nudibranches for the past couple days so apologies for the 700 more posts im gonna make about them :3 i thought it'd be nice to talk about one of the coolest/ most popular of nudibranches for today though 🥰🥰🥰
honestly these lil guys live the life. floating upside down on the currents, eating horrifying siphonophores and stealing their stinging cells, and also looking so incredibly cute while doing it? mmmmmwah 💜💜💜💜
the only downside is that because of their sting, ill never be able to hold one 😔

Behold, my new hyperfixation
