New chapter of The Weak Dwarven Prince is up! Rustam visits Ignacia, who's been working nonstop for the past 4 days & her explanations get...cheesy. Luckily for him, Daelyniel & Galenova are kind of there to help sort through the madness.
I'm proud of this story.
I think saying that is important to put into the universe about our works.
I'm proud of how I'm writing a story people complain makes them hungry after.
I'm proud of writing a story that makes people laugh even during the intense moments.
I'm proud that I decided to take this chance and write what will probably be my longest story yet when I'm done.
I'm proud I made a non binary lead with Neo pronouns. Similar to what I wish I was brave enough to use in my life.
I'm proud I made something that mixes some of the unsettling horror elements I rotted my brain with as a kid.
I'm proud I found recipes to go with the bits of story as Enoki goes to craft the feast for the gods so the races are not destroyed.
No matter what. I'm proud of this. And I hope others enjoy it.
Ok so hear me out (prepare to share)
One of the things I love right now is how writers can all see the same idea and come up with wildly different ideas of how to pull it off. Well really programers. Chefs. Artists. Anyone really.
And they can all work.
Like my story has been bopping around in my head after seeing some post debating what races had the best whatever recipes. And I'm like...
I wanna make a cook book like that.
But I didn't. Because life and I was working on a comic and all. But then this contest on tapas comes around and I'm like.
Yes.
Let's do this.
ACTION TIME.
But that wasn't enough. Because I saw some of the races and I like "but why tho". I mean we all know there are some racist ideas behind various races. And honestly, some races are like... been there done that. So my brain starts finding new twists on them.
The elves are the wine makers, have glamor because they look like eldritch horrors, and are basically dnd bards. "Dark elves" are basically the holiest warriors. Orcs? Blue and red which got mistaken for blood early on. They leaned into it for interactions but they really like to farm and raise sheep like critters. The centaurs are half goat not half horse and their cities are a PAIN to get into because they don't need roads, they have walls they can hop up.
And all of this still gets me adding in recipes people can cook. More or less based on what's happening. While the MC Enoki runs around on hir own tasting food and trying to save the world. Because oh yeah, the gods need a feast or they start blowing up the various races!

"Enoki was a assistant manager by day and recipe foodie vlogger by night. Going out and finding recipies from around the world and how they changed over time. Too bad a goat killed hir. Now a bunch of gods have given an ultimatum. Create a blessed and cursed feast in one year, or watch as the races of this new world are wiped out. Then ze is dropped into the world with no directions, no explanations of how to use hir shapeshifter or magic items, and a whole lot of people that aren't too sure about Enoki's plan. With an arsenal of jokes and a desire to taste everything once, can Enoki make the feast? Or will it be a cooking fail?"
I wanted to show off the character that decided no. He wasn't waiting till the end of the elven arc to show up. Or the planned 3rd arc. No. He had to show up midway through.
Dang it, Daikon.
Also an important note to writers. Make sure that you are clear with your artist the pronouns and perceived gender of a character. I thought my hubby knew and got this at first.

AITA for choosing to continue in a competition that I am wholly unqualified for just to wreck someone else’s chance at winning?
I (M 17? 36? I never really knew my age; I don't think it matters now) got volunteered by my mother for a competition. Winning involves a lot of politics. I ran a clinic for the Temple before, so I am not wholly unfamiliar with being in charge of something, but this position requires being nice to a bunch of greedy assholes who can't comprehend that we're trying to have a society here.
I was going to withdraw, but then one of those jerks killed some of my guards to cover his own theft, and now I'm just angry.
Would I be the asshole if I continue with the competition just to make sure the other guy loses? I'm not sure what I'd do with the country if I won...
Suffer and become one with Me
The world was on the brink of ending. A thick, sulfurous miasma covered the land, leaving only small settlements clinging desperately to life in a never-ending war against the demons.
One woman, heart shattered by her beloved's death, loosed a cry of despair that pierced the heavens. Her impassioned plea stirred a passing goddess to action. In a selfless act of love, the goddess donned the Saintess' body and burned away the miasma to restore light and life to the world.
But this was only a short stay of execution. The dark god planned to return and consume the world he had left to marinate. Only the reborn Saintess, her Beloved, and the unexpected element of a hillbilly transmigrator have the skills to save the world.
I sort of like the idea of potential allies having buyers remorse really fast. People often agree to things without thinking.
I also think it's funny that the payment of something impossible to get is hard to argue with.

The whole point of Romance Splits is how folks can cause you to doubt something about your life. It can make some issues seem bigger than they really are.
Beau and August don't worry about cheating.
They worry about their partner having a reason to say 'I think I want to stop' because they were not enough for the other.

A smirk tugged at Marcus’s mouth, though it didn’t reach his eyes.
Nina cut in, blunt as always. “This isn’t about blame. It’s about survival. Second-guessing will get us killed.”
Silence fell as they absorbed her words.
Lila nodded, though her eyes remained troubled. “We’ve come this far. We can’t let doubt tear us apart now.”
Marcus uncrossed his arms, leaning forward. “You’re right. We need to act as one. I’m with you, Turner. But if I think you’re leading us into a trap, I’ll speak up.”
Alex held his gaze, tension crackling between them. “I wouldn’t expect anything less.”

Ahhhhhh! I'm so excited! My first contracted novel will begin on Oct 17th.
Part of Romance Splits is the real life things that married couples deal with. This includes kids and their teachers. In Beau and August's case it's the twin girls, their IEP (individualized education plan), and the teachers not following it properly.
Speaking as a parent, these little things take attention away from the relationship sometimes. This is not a kids suck the fun out of things comment but just a fact. We all only have so much energy and attention and time. And our kids (if you have them) take up a lot because they need it.
At the same time, parents want to set a good example for a healthy relationship because we want our kids to have one too. It's a hard balance.
Wonder how Beau and August will do <3

Soo. Hiatus.
Sorry folk, but my mental health is really fucked up and I need to take a break. I am gonna post some short stories like The Dancing Queen, but "The Glimpse of Us" on Tapas is on hiatus for now. I dont know when I am gonna start writing it again, but I give it like...two months, maybe? I plan to write short stories of Raina and Char and maybe the others too on my Tapas, or even here, so stay tuned! :) But for now, I need a break. Sorry.
(also sorry that I left you on a cliffhanger)
