Japanese Food Cravings
More people are becoming familiar with the unique culinary culture of Japan as the cuisine spreads throughout the country. People are lining up to get their hands on tempura, ramen, sushi rolls and other Japanese dishes. I'm taking a break and ordering takeout in the interim, but home cooks like myself are busily preparing their way through replicating some of their favorite Japanese dishes at home.
I ordered the following:
Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura Agedashi Tofu
Philladelphia Roll Salmon Skin Roll California Roll
"If I were trapped in one city and had to eat one nation's cuisine for the rest of my life, I would not mind eating Japanese. I adore Japanese food. I love it." - Anthony Bourdain
Very important update!
SHE DID IT!!! SHE MADE 'EM!!! THEIR JAPANESE STYLE ANNIVERSARY IS AMAZING!! JUST LOOK AT THAT

She took day off to cook this ramen (with marinated eggs and other cool toppings), roll those amazing sushi, fry the tempura and bake the kasuteru cake😩 you should have seen my father's face on the photo, he even texted to personally thank me for providing my mom with all these recipes

My father is literally the luckiest man on this planet!! He made the right decision 33 years ago

And dessert - kasuteru/castella cake with matcha!

So soft🥹
Humble reminder that my mom lives in Eastern Europe, so for her it was a life-changing experience, it's her first acquaintance with Japanese culture/cuisine EVER and she did so great, I can't overstress how proud i am of her
My mom is a rockstar. Yesterday she texted me to ask how to make sushi. She said that she's planning a surprise dinner for father for their 33rd marriage anniversary and since it's their annual tradition and she always tries to cook something new, she decided to surprise him with sushi this year. I told her about the best ingredients that I like in my sushi and she said that she actually grows Japanese daikon in her garden so she will marinade it to make authentic sushi. Since I sent her matcha as a gift I proposed that it would be cool if she makes full japanese style dinner with some Japanese soup and dessert. She got very excited and asked me to give her ramen and kasuteru cake recipes. When I gave her my ramen recipe and translated an authentic recipe for ramen noodles (my mom makes her own pasta so i figured she'll manage to cook the ramen noodles from scratch), she replied saying "Thank you, Sensei". I swear to god if such exits, I love my family so much.
