I just looked into my drafts and realised I had a shit-ton of amazing ideas I wanted to write, but they’re all just hanging forlornly there as I try to deal with the backlog in my life that was caused by my procrastination. And let’s not even mention the sky high pile of research I want to do into unrelated topics and then learn HTML coding and then hoMEWORK DEAR LORD WHAT HAVE I DONE WITH MY LIFE I need to get my shit together istg

I’m well aware that I have a mountain load of revision to do in a time too short, but in light of Yoongi’s birthday, I thought I’d take a short break and finally put my thoughts about him into words.

Min Yoongi. Born 9th of March 1993 and hailing from Daegu, South Korea. Officially, rapper, lyricist and composer of Bangtan; not-so-officially, one of the caretakers and voices of reason in a group of rowdy friends. Unofficially (but not any less recognised a title), Unpredictable Grandpa Min “I don’t give a shit what others think I’ll do what I believe” Yoongi the Sass Extraordinaire Who May Or May Not Be My Ultimate BiasTM.

I was first introduced to Bangtan via War of Hormone (and a pumped-up friend whose excitement over a comeback refused to be tamped down in the face of my lack of enthusiasm). I caught glimpses of their news as they entered the HYYH era, and around Dope I began showing interest in their music (I would always maintain that it was the music that truly got me, but sometimes I wonder if my past with Bangtan would have been different if a certain handsome “doctor” hadn’t caught my eye).

But it was HYYH pt. 2 that I was introduced to Min Yoongi, and had my fate as an ARMY sealed as firmly as the 95-line are stuck to each other at the hips.

I had never been an artistically inclined person, and there has always only ever been one form of art (if it could be called that) that claimed my soul: words. To express oneself, many have turned to the canvas of paint and colours, music and dance, shapes and sculptures, countless other forms of abstract art. Me? I stick to words. It’s where I’m most comfortable, stuck in the balance between abstract and concrete, freedom and restrictions. So perhaps, it really should come as no surprise that of the many aspects of a song, I place the highest appreciation in lyrics.

And what a world Yoongi paints with his words! Intro: Nevermind was my doorway to the complex mind of who would later become my favourite person in the world. I remember listening to the rough voice, emotions pouring into a story that I finally understood through my eyes. I can’t tell you the exact feelings that rushed through me, but I remember a vivid experience of awe, guilt, respect……and a clenching around the heart that till now, I can only put down as empathy of sorts. It was that afternoon – lying on my bed and reading the lyrics over and over and over – that Min Yoongi became my bias, and Bangtan became my new home.

All in all, my journey with Bangtan has entered its second year, and I’m still happy and contented. Less hyped, less undignified-fangirling-tendencies, but not any less in love. I still cheer for them, occasionally go crazy over them, and my heart continues to swell with pride over the littlest things the boys do. And of course, I smile the widest when it comes to one Min Yoongi.

I love that he is the perfect example of the lotus metaphor; born of mud, yet lovely and untainted. I love that despite the hardships that roughened his edges, he still stands tall and proud, and so much more humbled and kind because of them. I love that he’s incredibly uncaring of a hundred and one things, yet has his heart in all that matters. I love that he minds not what others think, so long as he stands by what he believes. I love that he exudes confidence, even when he does not have the highest opinion of himself. I love that he never once broke even when he was broken, never once lost his words just because they failed him, never once stopped believing despite giving up. I love that he has done so much, yet it will never be enough, simply because for him, ARMYs deserve more. I love that he puts his entire self and more into everything he does, loses himself in it, gives himself up to the rhythm.

I love that he shares his stories with us, painting pictures and lifetimes with his words alone. I love that he shares his loves and hates with us, his hopes and dreams and stumbles and hurt, carefully crafted into clever little metaphors and implications. I love that his words are careful and shy, yet also blunt and down to earth. I love that he is part of the music that can soothe my temper and pull at my heartstrings. I love that he has made me feel alive once more – and willing to actually live, at times – just by reading about his story.

It’s going to be his birthday in 10 minutes, but I really gotta dash, so I’ll just put this on queue. Thank you, Yoongi, for being the person you are, for inspiring thousands upon thousands in life, for doing what you love and sharing it with us all. Thank you for letting me get to know you, and changing so much about me. Happy birthday, and have a blessed year ahead. I’ll always support you, alongside the ARMYs you love so, so much. 생일추가해, 우리 민슈가!

I usually don't really take Tumblr's comments to heart, but for once I'd just like to put this here and point out that no, this is not just "whatever", this is "OH MAN HOLY SHYET" because what. So my mum found out. About the new piercings, that is. XP It was fun while it lasted. In my defence, though, she wouldn’t have found it if she hadn’t insisted on sitting me down and blow drying my hair for me these last couple of days. To be honest, this was a pretty interesting social experiment, in a way. I mean, after the first day, I pretty much forgot about them and kept accidentally touching then (and then proceed to curse in pain) or absent-mindedly turning the earrings, and somehow, no one noticed. At one point I outright twisted them a little in front of my friend, while making eye contact, and she didn’t notice. Goes to show how much people miss when they’re not looking for it. Well. Gonna continue this thing and see which one of my friends is the first to notice, and when. This is fun. XD

OHHHHHHHHH MYYYYYYYYY GOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDD

Okay anyway. I just needed somewhere to rant that wasn't a someone because I didn't wanna spoil anyone or something but the thing!! Is!!! I was digging through my cabinet aka my "treasure trove"/trash dump for something else but I stumbled upon an old piece of my writing for a not-so-old story idea that I kinda ditched hiatus-ed for now on Ao3 and I remember writing this during one of my down phases (a lot of my writing/story ideas spring from trying to make myself feel better) and it's!! So!!! Good?!?! Idk this sounds like self praise but honest it's not cuz like I had no idea I wrote that?? Like okay fine I know I wrote that I remember every word but I?? Wrote??? That?!?! Okay now that I've overreacted yall probs gonna think it's mega good but it's not thaaaat good but I'm still impressed because honestly it has that feel/vibe I'm going for. I've paused that story 60% cuz life got in the way and 40% cuz I kinda lost my way with it and couldn't continue, but reading that just got me kinda wistful now. I kinda wanna go back to it now, but, ya know, life's still happening, so not so fast buuut I mean I might? The part I wrote was really kinda the climax part or maybe the start of the climb to the climax and really there's not much context, but it captures the mood quite well. At least now I kinda have a reference to work on so this is looking good, I think. Dear god, thank god for my past self for writing this. See, this is why I never throw/delete stuff I write. Oh my god. I'm gonna go type it into my com now to keep a soft copy of it. Byeeeeeee~~~~

Project RM, anyone?

Err, so……I know I don’t have much presence in the fandom (understatement of the decade, that), but I’m gonna give this a try anyway. I do hope word of this can be spread by reblogs? Please, those of you who read this and wanna show support; please reblog this post instead of liking. Much thanks

Okay, to keep this short, Project RM is basically a project to increase the views of (some of) Namjoon’s MVs, namely Do You, Joke, Awake, Change and P.D.D. There is no end date for this, and there is no occasion for this either (but I was hoping the spirit of BTS Festa can set us in the mood :)). I’ve created a public playlist of the official (non-1theK) MVs, link below:

All I’m asking is just to play this playlist, one loop only, every time you see this post. It really only takes less than 20 minutes, and you can do other things while you’re listening to great music. There is no need to stream as if this was a comeback MV or such (I don’t want anyone to lose sleep or whatever over this). I just want more awareness that these MVs exist. P.D.D. especially is so underrated it doesn’t even turn up on suggestions, and it’s actually a really amazing song that I love so much.

I’m not too sure if anyone else in the fandom has already done this? So far I haven’t stumbled upon any, but if there is, I hope whatever impact I can make with this post would help their movement too.

This is really my way to show love to Namjoon; god knows that boy needs to be reminded more that he is loved by ARMYs around the world. For those of you that have read thus far, thank you. And if you do decide to give the playlist a go, my sincerest thanks once more.

I’ve been thinking about how to contribute more to the project. Raising more awareness is the first step, but there’s only so much I can do about that. There is power in numbers, but I’d have to first get the numbers. So yeah, I was actually considering the whole “I’ll stream the playlist as many times as the number of notes this post gets” thing, but I don’t think I can practically do that (life getting in the way and all). So, I’d love if someone with better ideas can let me know how I can make this project better. I will continue to actively spread the word of this on Tumblr, and perhaps a little later on get this to Twitter and YouTube comments. And I’ve made it a point to stream the playlist at least twice a day, once using my account, and another using incognito tab. Do contact me if anyone has more ideas! I’m always up for discussions.

(And, ya know, I just might be trying to stream as many times as the number of notes, as crazy as that is. Might as well get as many views in as possible while the number of notes is low, eh? :D)

I have thought about it, but my main reason for not putting it in the first place was that I was trying to keep the playlist relatively short (less than 20 mins, as I stated), so I selected songs that were more......Namjoon, I guess? I do realise he wrote Fantastic too, but it was also kinda promotional, imo? Idk, I figured I can focus on that song a little later; right now, these five take precedence. Still, thanks for your input, means a lot to me that someone realised I left the song out :D
