A Mortal Champion The primordial gods don't meddle much in the matters of men, nor do they like to embroil themselves in the politics and wars of the younger gods. But, like every deity, even the primordial gods like to have a mortal champion to call their own. And so Caelus, god of the sky, descended from his domain and took human form - in the shape of a mortal named Derek - to seek out a champion for himself. Unlike most of the other gods, who prized strength and physical feats above all, Caelus prized intelligence, cunning and wit. Enter Stiles, who had all of these in abundance, but lacked self-confidence and purpose in life. One day he decided to answer the call of a local merchant named Derek who was looking for a traveling companion on a long journey. Little did Stiles know that he had signed up for an adventure that would take him to the domain of the gods themselves and change his life forever.
