October comes around and all of the sudden you think you’re brave enough to watch that scary movie that came out two months ago or play that new horror-survival video game that they’re advertising on the front page of Steam just because you wanted to get into the spirit of Halloween.
But you never learn – you are never brave enough.
Tonight, you realize that for the millionth time in your life as you clutch onto Nayoung’s arm while you’re hiding your facemask-covered face into the couch behind you because of another jump scare from the video game she was playing. Truly the most significant philosophical question of our time

I know what I'll be googling for the next week

The Godard family deaths/disappearance
The Lane Bryant shooting in Tinley Park, Illinois
The disappearance of Paul and Sarah Skiba and Lorenzo Chivers
The death of Judy Smith
The death of Jonathan Luna
The disappearance of the "Springfield Three"
The strange tale of the "Yuba County Five"
The disappearance of Allison and Marie-José Benitez
The disappearance of Emma Fillipoff
The disappearance of Kyron Horman
The disappearance of Steven Koecher
The disappearance of Toni Sharpless
The disappearance of Brandon Swanson
The disappearance of Maura Murray
The disappearance of Jamie Fraley
The disappearance of Andrew Gosden
The disappearance of Brian Shaffer
The disappearance of Jennifer Kesse
The disappearance of Terrance Williams and Felipe Santos
The disappearance of Michele Anne Harris
The disappearance of Sneha Anne Philip
The disappearance of Leah Roberts (Unsolved Mysteries did a segment on this in 2001, but new testing of her car in 2006 would necessitate an update)
The disappearance of Asha Degree
(the ones in bold are ones that drive me especially crazy)

when you and your best friend both like crime documentaries so you buy an unsolved case file to solve together 😻

Patreon Postcard October 2024 I love horror movies. One day I hope to find something that is even one tenth as scary as watching Unsolved Mysteries as a kid. Nothing will ever top Robert Stack making you paranoid that everyone in your apartment building is a wanted murderer.
