Yoo im also trying to bulk and if you cook I'd love some small portioned high calorie recepies if you've got any

Im already a pretty small guy pre-T and I'm tired of getting the advice "just eat more" because 1. the stomach can't magically expand to accommodate more food after a lifetime of being underfed, 2. smaller stomach + easier likelihood of heartburn = breathing problems and sickness as the acid literally eats away at the esophagus

Before I talk about meals specifically you can’t underestimate the power of constant grazing and eating something, no matter how small, every 2 hours. You can expand stomach capacity over time *slowly* by doing this and is the preferred method of body builders to eat 5 smaller meals a day for similar reasons of stomach capacity.

Fat and condiments are your best friend, no matter what you eat you can add fat or a condiment. Breakfast: loaded oatmeal, 1/2c old fashioned oats soaked in whole milk overnight, handful of berries, as much peanut butter as you can stand, some sort of seeds or whole nut like flaxseed or walnuts, and chocolate chips. This can easily get up to 700-1000 calories if you add enough extras or up the amount of oats.

Lunch: sandwich with all the highest calorie options available, Italian and cured lunch meats, cheese, oil, mayo, on a heavy whole grain bread. Eat chips and a protein bar with this.

Homemade burritos with lots of cheese, sauce, salsa, high carb wraps, and whatever else you can think to add is also a great option. Easily 1000+ calories for each meal.

Snacks: protein bars, pop tarts, full fat greek yogurt, muffins, plain cereal, nuts, bananas, bagels with cream cheese, cheese

Dinner: Thai-style peanut noodles with sesame oil and chicken. Anything with lots of pasta, rice, oil, bread. Basically whatever people say you shouldn’t eat you should eat double of that. Chili mac and cheese, cornbread with butter, a side of fried eggs. Avoid eating baked or roasted potatoes and things like that because they are too filling. Loaded burgers and fries are a good simple option.

You can add a simple protein shake of whole milk and 2 scoops of protein powder right before bed if you want to slam calories in.

I don’t recommend fast food all the time, but a once a week feast of all your favorite things from a place of your choosing can help add up calories. Good luck!

Not cooked, find a few other calorie dense foods you can eat and will realistically be able to eat regularly then get into the habit of eating them every day. Slowly increase the amount you eat of those things and embrace the monotony, use it to your advantage. I don’t have sensory issues but I have OCD and love for everything to be the same, so I eat almost the same things every day. Peanut butter is great start if you don’t mind the texture or just grazing on random snack throughout the day.

A gross option is to make a weight gain protein shake every day and just chug it while trying not to taste or feel it. I’ve done this and it’s disgusting, but got the job done.

Do you have any recommendations for weight gain shakes or calorie rich food tbh I forget to eat so often I want to gain weight so bad have been talking to feedees like I have been eating protein and stuff and I still weigh 107 :( I don't want to be a think forever

Peanut butter by the mouthful, bagels with cream cheese, anything with a high fat and carb content. Most basic protein shake is a chocolate banana with chocolate whey powder, ice, whole milk, a banana, and you could add more peanut butter if you want. You need to eat at least 500 cals over maintenance, but it has to be something you really want. I’d set alarms to remind you to eat if it’s really too hard. Eat whatever you have a craving for and keep to the alarm schedule of 3 meals at least, and build to 2 snacks. It’ll work I promise. I was skinnier than you a few years ago and I’m 5’5”.

Highest calorie smoothie you can think of, go

Whole milk, full fat Greek yogurt, mass gainer protein powder (gross, but works), peanut butter, walnuts, banana (or another starchy fruit, I just like them), coconut oil, and maple syrup with more seeds on top or topped with candy. That’s a mostly “”healthy”” macros, but you could make this with ice cream too, I’d use a high quality brand personally if I do that.

It should be a sludge texture ideally. Could reach thousands of calories depending on how big you make it. I don’t like smoothies very much and drink them all at once when I make them so I don’t care about taste, but if you do I’d pick flavors you like following a very high fat and protein content whenever possible.

trans gymbro to trans gymbro; soo i'm trying to get big but due to personal choices i recently (4 n a half months ago) decided to stop eating red meat, would it make the process harder by any chance ?

I don’t think so. I barely eat red meat at all but that’s due to price and laziness. I eat ground chicken and turkey and eggs because they’re cheap and easy to make a lot of at once. I don’t make a lot of fancy stuff and eat almost the exact same things every day because I like it and it’s easy to me (I have OCD so it’s very easy for me). If you are willing to eat other protein sources there’s nothing special about red meat.

blegh i really wanna bulk up a bit so i can properly get on my exercise but unfortunately i have gastroparesis which means my stomach just won’t let me eat food a lot or at the very least, a small amount, so i end up feeling sick all day and not being able to get my reps in :[

my stomach capacity took a while to change but it will increase if u eat more unless u have a medical condition stopping that. i wrote a little encouragement for bulking cus it’s been my recent fixation and ive gotten so much attention from it,, like way more than i thought id get like even the ppl i serve at my job commenting on my gains,, anyway, heres some bulking encouragement u can read as much as u need:

Eating with me, lifting, growing into a big himbo slut just like me. You need to be obsessed with getting bigger for me, eating everything in front of you like a *good boy* Everyone can see youre a muscle slut, in fact, you’re getting hungry right now thinking about how much I’ll praise you for those undeniable gains.

All those calories are going to make your muscles swell until your skin can barely contain them, until you always look like you have a pump. Who cares if you’re bloated? Nobody notices when your biceps are so big you can’t pull them through your sleeve, can’t even pull your forearm through the sleeve, even though that used to be too loose. And your chest, your lats, are so big your sleeveless shirts are straining to contain them. People can’t stop looking at you—the way your shoulders fill out the sleeves and then some, and the definition of your back muscles clearly visible through your shirts because you’re so shredded. You’re so *good* at doing what you’re told. I know you’ll be a *big* sexy muscle boy for me.

Forcing myself to eat more even though my stomach hurts because I need to bulk more... any advice for eating even when you don't want to?

lmao iv been feeling sick every day recently from my bulk and tbh i just take a few minutes to visualize my goals and try to feel the calories building/feeding my muscles. idk like that might be weird or whatever but it helps me to not get down on myself. i ask my partner for validation when i need to and they tell me how much they love my body and cant believe how much muscle ive gained in such a short time, but not everyone has some1 that can feel them up when theyre bloated and regretting life

eating very high calorie low volume meals helps too, and i try to eat every 2 hours even if its small bc it stretches ur stomach in the long run (that’s a gainer trick and it works like a charm, kudos to the girls that taught me that). hope this helps

be patient and itll happen for u man. i used to be the tiniest boniest twink n could barely curl 10lbs, no joke. weighed in the double digets. i gained about 50 lbs and counting n ill never look back, u just have to put in the work and be consistent. lift 3x a week every week and eat like a monster and youll be unrecognizable in no time at all n pin me on the ground like its nothing

What are some of the things you eat regularly &/or ways to motivate eating?

I eat eggs every single day no matter what even if im not in the mood and need to choke them down. I eat basically tubs of peanut butter. Lots of whole milk, whole fat Greek yogurt (plain), nuts/seeds/olive oil, fresh fruit b4 and after workout, chicken tenders and honey mustard, at least 2 vegetables a day, 2 sandwiches as a snack, cheese cubes/handfuls of shredded cheese, pasta, whatever meat I have on hand.

Tips on bulking: eat all your food every time you order takeout even if you’re full. Have a snack every 2 hours throughout the day, or eat something small every time you pass the kitchen. Take one day a week and eat whatever you want, like a monster I mean massive portions of whatever the fuck you want, the calories add up over the course of the week to make you gain muscle and ofc some body fat.

When I get down about bulking because I feel bloated or sick from eating so much I visualize my goals and remind myself that eating is what creates growth. Comparing myself to old pictures motivates me since now I look back and feel fucking huge in comparison, I was so thin I won’t post my true “before”.

My back 1 year ago flexing hard and then today barely trying after bulking since April and gaining 20lbs.

what do u recommend eating to help gain muscle that isnt meat?

You don’t need to eat meat you just need protein. As long as you eat .7 grams of protein for your body weight and meet general calorie goals you’re fine. I don’t track macros and it’s not a big deal to me if I’m not exact, my history of eating disorders is something I’m very conscious of not repeating. Eat a lot of eggs and Greek yogurt if you’re ovolacto veg. If not, chickpea pasta as an alternative add extra protein and there are all sorts of vegetarian meat options now to use, and non-dairy cheeses or cheeses that naturally have no lactose. Alsooo nuts and seeds are non-negotiable and decently priced if bought in bulk at Aldi (if they are in your area).

Something interesting though is that teen boys and possibly trans guys early on T (first 3 or so years) may need 1 gram of protein per lb of bodyweight because of the rapid, anabolic nature of puberty. Something to consider if you’re early on T. Otherwise more than .7 grams per lb is bro science and not based in anything (unless you’re on steroids).

Hi thanks so much for the contents they're very inspiring. Can I ask what you eat daily, nutrition-wise, while bulking? Do you minimize fats? How does your physique goal look like?

I’ve talked about this before on the tag #bulking and eating related, but in short I eat basically the exact same things every day. There is some variety, but I always eat fried eggs with either 4 pieces of toast (bakery bread, not processed grocery store stuff) or hash browns cooked in a bunch of olive oil. I eat plain full fat Greek yogurt every night and add fake sweetener, dark chocolate chips, and whatever flavor or fruit I want. For lunch I eat whatever is available at my job for free (could be anything at all) or 2 sandwiches. I was eating a lot of protein bars but not so much right now. I eat a lot of nuts and seeds as snacks, with fruit and cheese. At least 2 vegetables every day. I eat a ton of pasta and fix it up between regular and chickpea pasta, and either use vegan beef or ground turkey with it and also a ton of Parmesan and olive oil.

For other snacks I’ll eat plain ground turkey sometimes and just choke it down (literally) or handfuls of lunch meat. In short I absolutely do not limit fats, but do try to stick with healthy-ish omega 3 unsaturated fats. Limit added sugar if anything, but I don’t as much right now because I’m eating whatever I can basically. I drink whole milk at least once a day bc calcium is extra important for guys on T since there’s (maybe) heightened risk of osteoporosis (we aren’t sure). I make homemade protein balls too. Oh, and lots of peanut butter plain out the jar cus idc.

I don’t count calories or macros at all right now and just eat balanced snacks or small meals every 2 hours when possible. I’m not going for a super lean look because it’s not my taste, I want some body fat for a “bulkier” look but maybe lean enough to sort of see my ab definition just not crazy defined. I want to look BIG big so super lean doesn’t lend itself to that unless I literally take steroids, but I won’t do that because I need to be calm and level-headed for my job and partner lol.

What meals/foods do you like to eat? I've got loads of protein powder because its quick and easy but I'm always curious what other gym guys enjoy

I eat a lot of eggs fried in olive oil, toast soaked in olive oil, full fat Greek yogurt that I fill with various things (fruit, chocolate, flavorings etc), ground turkey and pasta bc cheap high protein and bland enough to make it taste like anything. I eat fruit, nuts and seeds, and cheese as a snack. Oatmeal with flax seed meal, hempseed, fruit, and whatever else I want to flavor it with. I like pizza loaded with chicken, spinach, onions, and bacon. I have many snacks like dry cereal, protein bars, chips and whatever else I can get my hands on, especially at work when I can get some things for free. Loaded turkey sandwiches with thick slices of roasted turkey or roasted chicken. I try to eat 2 vegetables every day, but used to eat more when I wasn’t trying to bulk actively. I love hash brown patties and honey mustard as a treat. Sometimes I’ll eat plain vanilla ice cream absolutely coated in peanut butter if I want something sweet.

That’s a lot of things but the main point is high protein and high fat and idgaf about how many carbs I eat because it doesn’t seem to change anything either way for me. Only thing I limit is added sugar and even then I’m not too worried about it.

What's your weight goal right now?

Ultimate goal is 200lbs and I’m sitting at 150 right now. I already gained 20lbs this year but I’d like to hit 170 pounds by the end of the year. I had an illness late last year that made me lose 15lbs and started me out at a loss. I want to be a fucking tank, I WILL be a fucking tank…it takes so much food to fuel my body/muscle mass it’s sickening. I ate 3 dinners last night and I’m sure I gained no weight at all.

can you help me move away from ‘gotta be small and out of the way’ mindset that I’ve got? I feel like there’s a lot of pressure on trans guys to be as palatable as possible, but tbh I’m tired of losing weight. I’m having my top surgery in a few weeks and I want to reclaim my body. Though bulking sounds kinda scary because fat gain is inevitable, right? also your back looks incredible

First of all congratulations on top surgery!! I had mine a year ago and it was the best decision I’ve ever made in my entire fucking life. The first month of healing is rough emotionally (for me at least), but after healing it was like nature restored itself…like something was returned to me. I felt kind of angry that I had to go through that to feel how cis guys do but I moved through it pretty quickly.

I had a similar mentality of wanting to be able to curl up and disappear. I used to fold my entire body up into a ball inside of hoodies that barely cover my abdomen now. You have to change the images you look at, who you idealize, and how you imagine your future self. Something was unlocked in me when I realized that if I didn’t change my body I’d be exponentially more unhappy in 5,10, 20 years. I struggled a lot with people close to me accusing me of being “bad” for wanting to be a man, calling me a traitor and shit like that…but ultimately being myself was the only solution. I could stay skinny and quiet and anorexic and die, or I could work towards being the hulk of my dreams. One day you wake up and you realize losing weight is not the point of life.

Bulking will inevitably cause fat gain, and I wouldn’t recommend any major diet changes the month before or after surgery. Follow your hunger cues normally for that time. Healing will require extra calories anyway, and despite what many people think, you will NOT suddenly gain a bunch of body fat from eating more. Your body needs more calories to heal the massive wounds on your chest. I’ll be honest that I’ve been bulking ever since my surgery and I do have more fat on my abdomen now than before (used to be absolute 0 none at all) and now I can’t see my ab definition very clearly, but that’s a trade off for growing every other part of my body (my pecs the most noticeable change).

Any advice for closeted ftms who want to get big but have no access to equipment/a gym? I've been trying to eat big too but simply don't have the stomach capacity to eat enough it's going to help me bulk. I despise how skinny I am but sometimes I feel like there's no hope for me... I feel small and weak and I hate it

Your stomach won’t like you for a while but there are real strategies for this. Our stomachs can only take as much food as we give them on a regular basis, hence eating less for an extended period of time lowers appetite and stomach capacity. Force yourself to add extra calories wherever you can, even if it’s just in condiments. If you feel sick for a while that’s normal, eat one extra thing at every meal every single day. No compromises, even if it’s one single egg or slice of cheese or 5 almonds idc. If you do this it works 100% of the time unless you have a serious medical problem, because the stomach is flexible and the hormones that trigger our appetites can be changed by our actions. Eat before you’re hungry, waiting until you’re hungry is losing the battle of bulking. I am a hard gainer and have gained 25lbs this year doing this, and despite on paper being “overweight” I am still very slim because it was almost all muscle gain. You’ll probably be similar and have more minimal fat gain if that’s your genetics.

For at home workouts I would recommend looking at r/ftmfitness and their body weight exercise info. You can make weights by filling milk jugs with sand or gravel or even just water if you are starting out totally new. Hard gainers like us typically need more than body weight exercises to really build mass though, simply because there is less weight to move around. If this advice doesn’t work come back, tell me what you’re doing, and I’ll beat for beat tell you how to improve.
