A day in the life of homeschool:
Wake up at 8am. Get ready for the day. Start school at 9 at the kitchen table. Math, vocabulary/spelling, reading. Lunch break from 11:30-12, eat great food made by parents. Grammar, logic/rhetoric, creative writing, Latin. History on MWF and science on TR. Proper school ending at 3pm, do any leftover work following. Average homework time: ~1 hour. Spend the rest of the day reading and drawing (before Internet, also restricted video game time). School consisting of hard books and assignments, no hard due dates. Math: new lesson + 30 problems each day. Reading: read as much of book as possible per day, then write a paper after finishing the book. Science: read about new concept on Tuesday, do experiment + writeup on Thursday. Other classes: read concept, do work, in that order.
A day in the life of gifted school:
Wake up at 7:30am. Quickly get ready for the day. Rush to 8am class. If no 8am class, sleep until ~30min before class. One class every hour MWF, every 90 minutes TR. Six classes per week, minimum. Lunch break around 12, ~1 hr; eat cafeteria food with an Icee. Take notes in every class. No in-class work. Finish class ~3pm. Spend the rest of the day socializing with friends, on the computer playing games/browsing the Internet, or doing homework. Average homework time: ~3 hours, ± procrastination. Work consists of papers and busy work. Math, science: ~20 problems per week. English: One paper ~every three weeks. History: one major paper every semester. If test, vigorously study notes multiple times. Always do work the day or two before it's due.
A day in the life of college, quarter system:
Wake up at 7:30am. Quickly get ready for the day. Rush to 8am class. One class every 90 minutes MWF, one class every 2 hours TR. Four classes per week, maximum; also, all classes lie on MWF in the morning. Take sparse notes in some classes. No class work. Laptop dies in the middle of the third class, no big problem. Lunch after classes at ~12:30, eating fast food with (essentially) free money, restaurant lines go out the door. Spend the rest of the day (or all day TR) back at the dorm/house, on the computer, alone; occasionally hang with friends from high school. Average homework time: ~10min. Work consists of busy work due (and worked on) a week after the lesson was taught. If test, study notes once, five minutes before class. Occasionally skip super easy work that isn't 100% necessary.
I am so bored lately it's not even funny.
Summer Update 2016!
Hello everyone! Sorry for neglecting the blog for so long. (I’ve been active on Twitter though!) Today I just wanted to bring up some life stuff that’s happening.
First let me talk about this summer. I’ve been super lazy all summer and I love it. Work has been really chill, allowing me to get some well-needed rest after last year’s shenanigans. All the rest has let me catch up on my hobbies and other projects - such as streaming, which I’ve been doing pseudo-regularly for the past two months on my Twitch channel! I’m especially proud of how that’s been going, as it’s a hobby I’ve been meaning to start for at least a year now. Besides that, I’ve worked on some silly videos, and caught up with friends. Somewhere along the way, I even picked up a bit of self-confidence, although I don’t know exactly where it came from...
Unfortunately, though, all must come to an end, and the summer is no exception. My last year of college starts next week, and having looked over the schedule, I can’t afford to make any mistakes (or risk graduating next year instead). That means I need to focus on classes... and that means I can’t be focusing on Tumblr (sorry again!), or Twitch, or anything else really. Even if I tried, college has a habit of kicking me in the teeth and draining me of my energy, so I wouldn’t be able to anyway.
I’m not about to take a hiatus, but I will say this: I’ll only do stuff whenever I feel I can. So I won’t push myself to stream every week, or work on my other projects, or update this blog if it’s been dead for... wait it was already dead. But you get the point: I’m not disappearing, but I am shifting my focus.
And when the year is over? Well, I can’t speak for that yet. I don’t know how I’ll handle whatever new job I may have or whatever life stuff comes up. I’ll cross that bridge when it comes. But hopefully - hopefully - things will loosen up around then, and I can start a new chapter of life.

Hyper-update 2017
For a while now on Twitter, I’ve been hinting at some life changes happening that are affecting my ability to do some things like stream or work on projects. Now that the dust is beginning to settle and plans are being made, I’d like to spill the beans:
As of November 2016, I am no longer in college.
The official reason on paper is that I couldn’t continue paying for classes. I ran out of scholarships, and student loans were not paying enough (as silly as that may sound). But if I’m going to be honest... I was already looking for a way to take a break, or something of the sort. I still had options to continue if I really wanted to, but I decided against them.
The stress of college was becoming unbearable. My last quarter was one of my weakest in terms of grades, and that wasn’t just because of the course load. Every day was a struggle to do just what I absolutely needed to do, so that I could collapse on my bed and rest as much as possible. And that doesn’t just describe this last quarter, either - my life has felt like it’s been draining from me as the years have gone by.
Am I exaggerating here? Probably a little. But that’s what it felt like going through it, and it’s what I remember upon looking back.
The day after the quarter ended, I perked up tremendously. I'm not spending all day in bed anymore. I’ve started streaming again, I’ve started working on projects again, I’ve started being more social. Energy levels have been so high that I frequently distract myself from one project with another one.
Surely I’m exaggerating here, too? ...Surprisingly, no. I’m still recovering from the stress, but it’s been a very quick process.
The only thing that’s been keeping me from going full tilt on any project lately is figuring out what to do now that college is, er, “out of the way.” After talking with a lot of people about my options (and praying a lot), I think I’ve decided that it’s time to go back home for a while.
My parents are very open to this, so it should be a smooth transition. I’ll be able to recover much more quickly at home, and take care of things that I couldn’t before - or just didn’t. I’ve even been presented with some unique opportunities that I don’t have here. The biggest problem with this will be finding a job at home; this was a huge factor in my decision (since I already have a job here), but I think that things will work out.
As far as what you guys will see from me: In between packing, I hope to continue working on projects (one of them is almost ready for showtime!) and do some one-off streams. Then, when I get home and things stabilize a bit - expect to see a lot from me. Streams, sketches, videos, levels, writing, and as much energy as I can feasibly wring out of this human body of mine.
2017 is looking up.
Got internet at home again
Thanks to my bro and I getting our college semester's leftover money in the mail today we were able to join halves to pay off the internet and get it back up. But even so, I think there's a high chance of losing it again if the same thing happens again, but we already got a plan in case that does happen.
Don't expect any new drawings to show up frequently though, cuz I'm still up my neck with some classes (especially one with a crazy/forgetful old lady, ugh...). They might happen when I feel like it, but I can at least tell you that I've had some ideas and a WIP or two lying around.
Classes, Commission Slots and Temporary Banner
Classes end in two weeks, more or less, so I've been kept busy with assignments every now and then (which has slowed the current commission progress, but I'm still working on em when I get the chance). Once it's over I'll be able to work on em and other stuff more. As for commission slots, they're already full and since it's been a while I'll be updating my prices once I'm finished with the current batch. I hope to have some new examples up as well. And lastly, I made a quick banner since I was sick of seeing the default one. It's gonna be temporary til I can get around to making a proper one when I feel like it, same goes for the chub blog's.
My entire college career is resting on two electronic kits that don't work. I put them together and neither worked. They were due at noon today (July 30th) and I have never been so upset. I cried for about an hour yesterday because I did all I could and it still wasn't enough to make it work. I was up until 1:30 putting that damn kit together and nothing lit up. Do you know how discouraging that is? I worked so hard and it was all for nothing. I might even have to retake the class next year. I woke up this morning at 7:30 to get back to work on the project and I cried again, just for a few minutes this time but I was so frustrated with the stupid project!!
I emailed my teacher and he said to turn them in anyway, because it might not even be my fault, it could be one single faulty piece that's fucking everything up. So I turned them in. My radio doesn't work and I accidentally cut a leg off a piece that didn't need to be cut which could be the problem but I don't even know. My other kit is an alarm clock and it doesn't turn on at all. They're both pretty cheaply made so who knows what's gonna happen. But I am stressed, I have a massive headache, and I have been crying for SO long. I hate college.
Guess who got an email from the school she graduated from last semester! Yeah!

In Debate, the debaters here do nothing. We play games, or talk, or do assignments from other classes. Yet somehow, we always cancel out? We do nothing. Except for like, the older students, who are actually responsible. We have a sub today. She seems nice. She’s on her phone. Okay I am boring.

I sleep like a dead man. When I wake up in the thin early-morning light the girl is lying curled up on the floor. I touch her arm: “Why are you sleeping here?” She smiles back. “It is all right. I am quite comfortable.” (That is true: lying on the soft sheepskin rug she stretched and yawns, her neat little body not even filling it.) “You were tossing in your sleep, you told me to go away, so I decided I would sleep better here.” “I told you to go away?” “Yes, in your sleep. Lovesick, Lovefool
A poignant thematic similarity between the two ballads is that they both feature a somewhat problematic relationship between love and physical objects, a relationship that both of the male figures attempt to subvert. It is a bit strange that within “Lord Randal,” the Lord’s mother immediately becomes concerned with the family’s inheritance, and goes so far as to ask what he will leave to his true-love. However, in the final stanza and the final turn of the poem, Lord Randal, instead of leaving her an object, or nothing, chooses to leave her “hell and fire,” taking his revenge into his own hands, even if only by expressing it vocally. Similarly, within “Boots of Spanish Leather,” the male figure is constantly hounded by his lover about whether or not he “might want something fine / Made of silver or of golden,” (ll. 9-10), something tangible, from tangible places like “the mountains of Madrid / Or from the coast of Barcelona” (ll. 11-12). Instead, he responds to her with intangible and perhaps ethereal desires, for her to carry herself back to him “unspoiled” (ll. 8), for her “sweet kiss,” (ll. 15), and, even more vaguely, “The same thing I want from you today, / I would want again tomorrow.” (ll. 23-24). In the final line and stanza of the poem, the figure finally acquiesces to her questions, but his desire for the eponymous “Spanish boots of Spanish leather” is not just a desire for boots, but a message that from that point on, a physical object is all that he will want from her.
I feel slightly raw about using the word "poignant," but what can ye do. It's 5:30 and this was one of two papers due tomorrow. Or today, rather.
And my reward will be listening to that song, that song about those Spanish boots of Spanish leather.

I first read this in "Looking for Alaska," and although the source was probably given, I never read the entire poem until now, for my poetry class. It's a confusing and difficult poem, and I'm not really sure that I understand it on even the basic level of 'plot.' Someone in the class said that they thought she was having an affair, that she literally loved her literal neighbor with her heart that was thus crooked. But I don't really think that's what's going on here. And if it is, well then that's disappointing because I don't really think that's all that interesting.
Even if it was, though, I think I'd want to just excerpt the last two lines, because in my life I try to devote myself to loving my crooked neighbors with all my crooked heart.
