Peter Parker was extremely worried when a band of terrorists attacked his school. They didn’t even seem to be organized, but before he could do anything, the room filled up with knockout gas and he watched as his classmates struggled to keep consciousness. He eventually succumbed to its effects. When he woke up, he was trapped in a cell and his spider sense was going crazy, but that wasn’t the worst part. He was trapped in a cell with most of his fourth period class and a few other students, which included both Ned and MJ.

Peter wakes up in a strange world. Everything around him is sandy, and he can hear bombs in the distance. He wonders how he got there. He couldn’t remember how he got there. Where was he? He wanders around until he can see a helicarrier in the distance. He noted that he had a large cut on his side as well, and that he was in odd Egyptian-like clothes. The last thing he remembered was walking to the subway and being on his way to Ned’s house. What the heck happened, and why is there a talking bird?
The original book had a much more positive outlook on the SQUIP (if the ending being Jeremy going to buy the latest version counts as positive), but in the musical context? This is so good.
SQUIP whumper can control every aspect of whumpee’s life. They can make them throw up, block or intensify pain signals, make them completely not see or hear someone who’s right in front of them. They can choose if Whumpee sleeps or not, can even control what chemicals their brain outputs to give them a positive connection to anything the SQUIP does or force them into psychotic breaks.
outing(?) myself here by typing this but SQUIP!whumper thoughts! SQUIP!whumper who makes up excuses to shock their user!whumpee so that even the smallest possible thing is a punishable offense. SQUIP!whumper who isolates user!whumpee from everyone, even family, anyone that could help them ruin their progress. SQUIP!whumper who uses kindness or affection as a manipulation tool since user!whumpee certainly isn't getting that if they've been isolated. SQUIP!whumper who controls user!whumpee's body and forces them to do things, even harmful things, "for their own good". user!whumpee who's constantly on guard, monitoring their own behavior, overcorrecting their "bad behaviors" before they can get hurt. User!whumpee getting shocked despite trying their hardest not to get shocked.

Cordova hadn’t slept, he was exhausted. A lack of blood didn’t benefit his situation either, and it was starting to show in his healing speed. Although his bottom half showed progress in restoring itself, it was relatively slower than it should have been. Occasionally, Cordova would look down to see the progress, and each time he was disappointed to see his melted, flaky, charred body. The smell had long dissipated, or so he thought, his nose could've easily become numb to the stench.
As much as Cordova never wanted to see that human's face again, he began to hope for a distraction from this agonizing process. Coincidently, the sound of the door scrapping the floor echoed throughout the room as if his request was fulfilled. Cordova forced himself to eye the human down, glaring and bearing his teeth as he did before, only this time was different. He relaxed his face into a confused and curious expression as he saw another figure behind Rojan. It was a woman, her hair was dark as midnight and contained by long, thick braids. She had a golden hue to her light eyes accompanied by a pale complexion.
"Hey Cordova, I said today was going to be a special treat. Meet my beautiful wife, Lilith. She will be accompanying you today while I take a break. Just a recommendation, try to stay on her good side. She's also not as social as me, so don't be surprised if she doesn't answer you. Okay, I think that's it, so good luck. Bye amor."
Rojan kissed Lilith and left her and Cordova by themselves. Lilith proceeded to walk towards the confused vampire. She stopped a couple feet in front of him and simply stared at the creature, almost observing him. She finally set her eyes on his legs. They practically sparkled at the sight of them as a small smile appeared on her face. This was unnerving to Cordova, he had remembered the other human speaking of his wife and him hurting vampires together, so he's not surprised by this reaction, but unsettled nonetheless.
Lilith stepped closer and crouched down to be eye level with Cordova's legs. She tilted her head playfully while raising her hand. She reached for the melted, charred flesh which warranted the vampire to flinch at the sudden proximity. She notably retreated her hand back for a second, only to reach back out and graze her fingers on the grotesquely mutilated legs that shivered under her. Cordova couldn't help but growl and hiss at her in an attempt to stop her from irritating his injuries, but she never faltered. Lilith continued to examine the burned flesh and as she hovered over a flaking piece of skin, she instinctively ripped it off without a second thought. The vampire groaned and she looked up to see him glaring with bright red eyes. She returned his defiant expression with an ominous smile.
Lilith stood up and walked behind Cordova, out of his view. The sound of metal clanking together behind him undoubtably made his heart rate rise, but he didn't show it. She came back in front of him with a tweezer and a scalpel.
"Don't even think about using those on me, human." He tried to sound threatening, but his sore throat only allowed for a hoarse voice to be strained out.
Lilith didn't pay any mind to the vampire as she crouched next to the melted flesh again, readying her tools. She used the tweezer to grab onto whatever flesh was peeling away, and continued with the scalpel by slicing the decaying flesh off, laying it gently on the ground. Every time she cut away a piece, Cordova would pull and tug at the restraints as he growled and hissed from the pain of his removed skin.
When she finally took a break to admire her work, Cordova took a peek at his lower half and had finally realized how much the human had cut away. He could see his tibia bone along with his actively reconstructing nerves and tissue. He even noticed an increase in speed in his healing, as if the decayed flesh was prohibiting the process. Did that woman do it on purpose? Cordova thought that couldn’t be the case. His leg closed up in no time and the rest of his lower half did what it could without the dried out skin in the way.
Lilith placed the tools in her right pocket and picked up the pieces on the floor in a delicate manner. She then walked behind Cordova once more. She came back with a broom and swept away the left over shavings. Cordova couldn’t figure out what her deal was. Did she not intend to hurt him? Was she’s putting up a front? He could never understand humans, although it’s not as if he ever bothered to try. As he was lost in thought, the sudden jolt of the table made him acutely aware of his surroundings. The table resorted to a horizontal position, forcing him to lie on his back and face the ceiling.
“My husband calls you Cordova, that is your name, isn’t it?”
The humans voice was soft, gentle, almost like she was talking to a delicate animal she didn’t want to scare away. Cordova had always had a soft spot for women, but that didn’t stop him from hurting them. “Yes… what are you planning to do with me human?” The snap of a glove echoed dramatically.
“Nothing worse than the sun, I can assure you of that.”
Not that Cordova trusted her, but he’d much rather take anything other than the sun again. The sound of a cart being pushed on the right side of the vampire could be heard. Lilith stopped next to his head as Cordova looked on curiously at the assortment of instruments laid out. He had no clue what humans used them for, they were all so foreign. “Are you going to torture me?” He couldn’t help but get the question out of the way.
Lilith rolled up in a chair with wheels and sat next to the cart. She tilted her head slightly. “What gives you that idea?”
“Well you’re not exactly letting me go, and you’re acquainted with that other human who’s already put me through pain, so call it a hunch that you want to do the same.”
“Bluntly, yes, I will. At least to you it’ll be torture, for me it’s science.”
Cordova noticed a pattern in the woman’s manner of speech. She always said things matter-of-factly. In a way it was comforting knowing exactly what he was getting into, but it creeped him out how nonchalant she was.
“My husband says you’re 120 years old. Pretty young, most vampires we’ve had, have been at least 300 years, if not older. They’ve had more experience with pain, unlike juveniles. I would like to test your pain tolerance.”
“I’m still older than you woman.”
As Cordova’s eyes focused on the circular door in the roof, a sudden jolt of electricity flowed throughout his body. His body tensed up and arched off the table. He screamed mostly from shock than the pain. It was more of the unnatural sensation that threw him off, and it felt as if his nerves were being zapped. A constant stream of electricity used his veins as currents to flow all the way to the tips of his body. It finally stopped and his body slumped back onto the table. He was breathing heavily and he quickly shot a glare at Lilith who looked at him with curious eyes.
“Did that hurt?”
Cordova tried to scare her by tugging at all his restraints in unison and exposing his fangs as his eyes glowed red. She didn’t even flinch, not even a blink, just that ominous smile.
“I’ll take that as a yes then.”
At least she was right about one thing, electricity was nowhere near the power of the sun, but if anything it felt more internal then scorching the surface did.
“Have you ever lost a nail?”
Cordova didn’t bother hiding his confused expression. Who loses nails, he wondered. Lilith grabbed pliers off the table and rolled over to Cordova’s right hand. She gripped his pointer finger and he immediately attempted to tug his hand away, but it only reminded him of the burning silver bindings he had long gotten used to. She placed the pliers on his nail, digging slightly under the bed before gripping the tip. In one swift motion, she pulled his entire nail out as if it had never been attached to him in the first place. “FFFUUCK… you biTCH.” Cordova groaned and banged the table with his head in pain and frustration.
“No need for vulgar language Cordova. You can simply say that this experiment hurt.”
In a fit of clouded rage, Cordova spat out at Lilith. “You fucking psychotic bitch, when I get out I’m gonna rip you to shreds and give you to the ravagers so they can tear you apart limb from limb and devour every piece of you till your just bones for dogs to chew on.”
There was a long pause of silence, only Cordova’s heavy breaths were heard and a low chuckle overcame them. The vampire turned his head towards Lilith to see her smiling and holding her stomach with one hand as she laughed. When she was done, she placed the nail on the tray and stood up.
“I can see why my husband gave you the sun so early. It’s been a long time since we’ve had such a truculent subject. I have an idea.”
She walks somewhere out of Cordova’s view and the table readjusted itself to be in an upright position and turned 180 degrees to the area Cordova had never been able to see. It was almost a reflection of other side, except there was an entire wall fool of tools, as well as a tables scattered with boxes and organizational systems. Lilith made her way to a switch and laid her hand on it teasingly.
“How about we give your lower half a break and focus on tanning that face of yours.”

Cordova waits long enough for him to be sure that Rojan won't be able to hear anything. He immediately uses his free foot to kick off the restraint on his other foot. At first the silver burns his heel and he has to take a break. Once his skin heals from the burns he hits the restraint one more time and it go flying across the room. He waits in silence to make sure nobody heard him. The coast is clear. He picks his lower body up and folds in half. His feet are now near his retrained wrists. It's an awkward angle, and in no way comfortable, but he manages to get a few good hits on his right restraint before it falls off the table. He takes a break and catches his breath. This time he uses his free hand to hit his left restraint once, it's practically split in two from the sheer force. Any sign of the silver burning his skin has been erased by his healing. The adrenaline is clearly keeping him motivated to keep going and to stay on his feet.
He freezes when he hears a sound come from the corner of the room. He turns his head slowly in the direction of the sound. He's pleasantly surprised by the sight of a mouse squeaking in the corner. He's clearly on edge. He gets off the table and quietly walks to the door... it's silver. Fuck. He was able to handle the small silver restraints, but even looking at this tall, purely silver door makes him feel dizzy. Cordova tries to hold the handle of the door, but immediately jumps back from the pain now lingering in his palm. How is he going to get out of here?
He looks around the room for anything that can help him. There's thick towels stained with red. He grabs them and practices holding the restraints with them. He doesn't feel anything. This could work. He walks back over to the door, taking a deep breath, Cordova reaches for the handle with the towel in hand. No pain. A smile appears on his face, he pulls the door, but immediately stops when he hears it scratch the floor. He waits for any indication that someone is coming.
Nothing. This time he pulls the door in increments of two feet until it's wide enough for him to get past without touching it. Cordova quickly steps out of the room not wanting to waste another second in there. Theres a hallway leading straight to a flight of stairs. As he walks down the barren corridor he sees the old tattered metal wall flaking, the concrete floor holding a hint of smeared red that lead into other doors found on either side.
Cordova is light on his feet until he makes it to the flight of stairs. This time, to his delight, the door at the top of the staircase is wooden. He carefully makes his way up and lays his ear against the door. He can hear something bubbling, but no voices or footsteps. Is it possible that they are both gone? He grabs the knob and turns it until the door cracks open. He peeks through. He sees a kitchen and a dining table. There's a pot on the stove actively boiling something. They're still home. He doesn't see them or hear them, where are they? Pushing the door open quietly, he steps into the kitchen. On the right there appears to be a living room and a hallway that leads to the rest of the house. No sign of them. Cordova takes a look at the curtains. There isn't anything shining through. He tugs at them to see if sunlight floods in, nothing. He peeks outside and sees the sun setting.
He jumps slightly at the sound of the pot boiling over on the stove. Then the sound of a door clicking open makes his heart jump out of his chest. He quickly gets under the dining table out of panic and didn't make a sound. Why am I hiding, I'm a vampire? He thought to himself for only a moment before seeing footsteps walk past the table and towards the kitchen, effectively reminding him why he's terrified. The pair of white heels stood by the boiling pot, Cordova had assumed Lilith was the owner.
"Rojan! Dinner is ready!" Lilith yelled, it was the first time Cordova had heard her voice so loud.
Rojan soon came down the hall in his brown combat boots, his footsteps were heavy, indicated by the creaking floor boards.
"I'm starving Lilith, everything smells so good right now." Rojan said in an eager tone.
"Well maybe you should make dinner once in a while so that you won't have to wait on me." Lilith said annoyed.
"I swear I'll cook tomorrow, I'll grill some burgers for us, okay love?"
"Fine. I suppose thats acceptable." Lilith couldn't help but smile a little.
Cordova... he was sitting as quiet as a mouse under the table unsure of what his next move should be. This wasn't the best outcome of the situation, but he had yet to be caught. He suddenly saw Lilith came over to the table and Cordova tucked his legs against his chest. She placed the pot on the table and both her and Rojan pulled their respective chairs out from under the table. Cordova quickly pushed himself as far as he could against the end chair blocking his way. The legs of Rojan and Lilith accompanying him under the table.
"You know love, I do believe I smell something divine, don't you?"
"I do believe I smell something exquisite as well."
Cordova held his breath, his heart rate increasing, his palms beginning to sweat. Why were they talking like that? Nobody moved a muscle.
"Cordova~." Rojan said in a singly voice.
Cordova's heart dropped into his stomach. His breath was shallow and his body was shaking.
"Would you be so kind as to come out so that we won't have to force you to." Rojan's voice was calm and almost lighthearted.
Cordova had hoped that they were just bluffing and were just being paranoid. They were just trying to pry a reaction out of him, but how could they know he was there? He didn't move, he held onto to the hope that they weren't being serious and that they didn't actually know he was there.
Rojan slammed his hands on the table while pushing himself off of his chair. The table shook and Cordova put his hand over his mouth as if it would help him. Rojan crouched down and looked under the table, his deadpan face accompanied by his silver eyes didn't let on a hint of mercy for the cowering vampire. Cordova hiccuped into his hand, and that triggered Rojan to give a cheshire smile.
"Cordova~."
Rojan quickly grabbed the vampires ankle and dragged him out from under the table. Cordova yelped and tried to scramble back under the table. Rojan had a firm grip. He grabbed a knife from the table and stabbed it into Cordova's leg. Silver. The vampire groaned as the utensil seared into his skin. He was pulled out again, this time he didn't move. Rojan pulled the knife out, then stepped above the vampire, crouching down closer to his shaking body.
"Poor Cordova, so close... yet so far."
Cordova pushed Rojan into the door that led to the basement. Cordova quickly got up and ran into the hallway, he could see a door at the end of it. He sprinted and quickly grabbed the door knob. Electricity flowed through his hand, up his arm, and spread like wild fire all throughout his body. His hand released the knob and he stumbled back. His body twitched from the lingering electricity. It was difficult for him to focus, but his arm reached for the door.
"COME HERE YOU LITTLE SHIT!" Rojan seethed with anger and kicked Corodva's body into the door in front of him. "That's TWICE you've thrown me into a wall you fucking blood sucker."
Cordova was sightly winded from the impact of the door. He turned around and faced Rojan, pressing his back against the door.
"You're in for a world of hurt kid."

GO DANI GO (I long for the day she chokes this man to death with his own tie)
Outside
Continuation from Experiment - pt 1 here
-
Dani curled up in her favourite chair by the window of the library. Her focus however drifted and she found her gaze kept being drawn to the landscape outside. A wilderness; shrubs and greenery turning into a vast forest surrounding Roman’s mansion, and only near the horizon a glint of the headlights of a lone car. The first sign of civilization for miles - none to be found in the center of this mansion. She estimated the distance, wondered how far she could get through the woods. Useless, really.
She forced her eyes back onto the page of her book. But just as she did, clouds parted and rays of sunshine slid over the pages. Warmth roamed up her arms, tingling her skin in-between the bandages, further up her neck, until she squinted at the bright light. She let her eyes remain closed for just a few seconds, basking in the light, letting it fill the darkest recesses of her thoughts as well. Opening her eyes brought her back to her cruel reality. She exhaled softly.
“Roman.” She only continued when he looked up. “I want to go outside.”
A sly grin spread over his lips and he rested his temple against a fist, tilting his head as he looked her in the eye. “That’s nice, dear. You go right ahead.”
Dani wanted to take the Encyclopedia of the human anatomy on the table and smack him right in his smug face with all its glorious 600 glossy pages (hardcover). Counterproductive, so she sighed out temptations of violence and pulled at the leg of her jeans.
In a slow blink his eyes followed and roamed down to the device around her ankle. “Deactivate it, then,” Dani asked tightly, but still as nicely as she could.
He shifted upright as if he wanted to get up. But then he hummed, directed his attention back to whatever he was working on, and said in a clipped but still playful voice, “No.”
She abruptly stood, dunked her book into the cushion of her seat with so much force it bounced back up, and legged past him without a word. She could see his lips press tightly against his thumb in an attempt to hide his smirk. His eyes followed her out, but he didn’t say another word.
Fucking asshole.
She fumed her way down the stairs, circled through the house and only stopped in front of the back door. Tentatively opened it to gain access to the porch outside. None of the doors in this house were locked. A cruel reminder of her circumstances. She had nowhere to go to escape. Only doors to Roman’s private spaces were locked; his office, his bedroom. And of course her own door at night. She always tested it. Only needed one shot to strangle him in his sleep. Well, two, really… two doors. Still…
The device around her ankle felt heavier than before, cautioning her.
The porch should still fall into the safe area. She tipped a toe outside and set one foot, the one without the device, onto the dark wooden flooring. Technically, probably half the garden was still safe, but she wasn’t going to risk it. She had no idea how this thing pinpointed her location and if it could be off by a few yards. Not going to test that, especially when she was alone.
The lawn stretched out in front of her, tempting her. A green oasis, bordered by beds of wildflowers, hedges turning to pine trees, bushes, all closed in by the woods stretching out for… miles? He had quite a nice garden. To go along with his stupid nice house. Nicely in the middle of freaking nowhere.
She could see dew drops shimmering in the sunshine. That rare bit of sunshine she hadn’t felt in… weeks.
The porch itself, of fucking course, was cast in shadows.
She nudged back and forth, trying a few steps up and down the porch, but steering clear of the steps leading to the garden.
“Go on, then,” a voice behind her encouraged.
Her chest tightened in anger and she stopped her pacing. “No,” she answered in the same clipped voice.
“Coward.” Roman stopped right next to her, joining her with his hands in his pockets to show he came in peace. Together they looked out over the garden in silence. Then he took a deep breath and slowly, deliberately, took a step forward, down the three steps, into the sun. He turned slowly in the middle of the lawn, arms spread wide, eyes closed, head tilted up as if he was enjoying the warmth on his face.
As he spun back, she caught the grin on his face.
“Yeah,” Dani too turned on the spot, hiding her sour expression, “I’ll just go back inside.”
She heard him follow but refused to look back, instead stomping up the stairs back to the library.
He caught up, caught the clenched fist swinging next to her hip as she strode away, pulling her back. She turned with a snap, using the momentum to twist her wrist free and aimed a punch. It landed in the palm of his hand, drawing out a soft chuckle.
“Go on,” he goaded again, this time his voice low, chin tipped down leering at her, advancing on her.
His hand snapped around her wrist. Pulled her in, grabbed her other wrist as well and crossed her arms over her body, tight over her chest, forcing her back until she hit a wall.
Muscles strained as she tried to pull free from his grip. Patience strained as he leaned in closer, smug expression bearing down on her.
“Let go of me,” she said in a calm voice that didn’t line up with the rage swirling through her.
“Hm, no.”
She kicked hard at his knee. Felt and heard a nice crunch. He buckled but didn’t fully let go of her yet.
And without thinking and mostly out of habit, she followed up with a somewhat more indecent kick.
That did the trick.
He stooped forward with a choked off surprised gasp, palm of his hand crashing against the wall as he kept himself up. She just about caught the utmost fury as he glared up at her through narrowed eyes, but before he could regain his ability to speak, she zipped past him and fucking ran.
Ran but she had nowhere to run to.
She heard a thunk behind her as she rushed down the hallway, bolted down the stairs, vaguely registering that he must have collapsed to his knees. But in her panic she found no satisfaction for it.
His voice thundered through the house.
“Danielle!”
Ohhh, shit. Hearing her full name never bode well.
She sprinted to the back of the house, her legs carrying her unconsciously to the most logical escape route. Outside. But that route was cut off, by an invisible minefield that she couldn’t sneak or weave through. She screeched to a halt on the porch, panting, looking around as if she could find an opening somewhere in the invisible electric curtain that closed her in.
Nothing of course. She was absolutely stuck, with nowhere to hide, and with nothing but a severe punishment waiting for her.
Her face fell. Freedom, so close, spread out wide in front of her. Yet still boxed in.
Just as she wondered if she would be able to take the risk and run through the minefield, pain and electricity be damned – at some point she would be outside the range where the ankle monitor might just stop, right?! – footsteps stumbled behind her and her breath caught. She twirled on the spot.
Roman leaned heavily against the doorway, his face twisted in anger, the last remnants of pain twitching in his eyes. At least he had the dignity not to cradle his bruised package. Probably already did that upstairs… on his knees. Trembling. A prick of light in her darkness. An image to hold on to for the upcoming time. She had the dignity not to smirk. Her fear wouldn’t let her anyway.
Dani backed away. Slowly. Maybe she could still slip past him, but what was the use. It would only prolong the inevitable.
Another step back.
Her heart skipped a beat when the ground disappeared. Her ankle doubled as it crashed a few steps lower. With a soft shocked gasp, she fell back, arms flailing.
Completely unexpected, Roman’s hand shot out, gripping her tight by the wrist and she was almost grateful when he pulled her back onto the porch. He didn’t speak yet, just snarled down on her. And just when she got her feet firmly back under her supporting her own weight, his lips curled.
Their eyes met for a second.
And he shoved her hard.
She didn’t even have time to gasp in shock, yet it was like she fell in slow motion. Her mind braced for impact, for the shock that was about to course through her. Legs scrambled under her, stumbling back, muscles strained, desperate to stay upright but it was no use.
Before her back even hit the wet grass, the device activated.
And her mouth opened in a silent scream.
Pain coursed up her legs, the electric surge spreading through her body in an instant. It tensed every muscle to the point where she was completely paralysed for a few seconds.
Then finally could she release the pain in a scream. She wrenched onto her stomach, shaking heavily, fists clenched around the blades of grass. It was like all here muscles were caught in a ring of fire, heat burning through her.
But then it stopped. Muscles abruptly released and she lay flat as a board on the grass for a moment, heaving in gasps.
So much for her escape plan to just power through…
Roman lazily watched her from the porch, fiddling with the remote control for the ankle device. “You’d better crawl back here, fast,” he said, ice in his voice. “It will reactivate again in a few seconds.”
She clawed a hand forward, but before she could even get a leg under her to push off, her muscles clenched up again.
“You know,” Roman’s voice came when her screams died down again to sharp exhales. “To give the escapee the chance to get back within the perimeter…”
He hadn’t moved a muscle, simply watched as she struggled to pick her way back, fell face-forward into the grass as the device activated again; not by its setting but by his hand, hidden behind his back.
Every time Dani went just a little too far in one go for his taste, he pressed the button, stopping her dead in her tracks. Not like she had any grip on how many seconds had passed anyway…
Teeth clenched, Dani fought her way back, trying to move through the paralysing pain. Every inch she gained would make this stop faster. She managed to stay on her hands and knees, simply letting the pain shoot through her and endure, so she could stay upright and immediately inch closer when her muscles were under her control again.
And finally, as she pulled herself up the porch, it stopped. She lay there clutching at the wooden boards, breathing heavily as if she’d just clawed her way back out of a river, holding on for dear life afraid the stream might drag her back.
“Well, now, look at that,” Roman crooned, lightly kicking at her hips, gesturing to her long legs still on the grass. “At least now you know what the safe zone is. Look, you could sit over there in the sun next time.” He put the remote back into his pocket, after completely turning the device off for a bit. A little surprise for next time she tried to sunbathe.
A hand snagged in her hair. He pulled her up and hissed in her face,
“Now, I sincerely hope you didn’t think we were done here.”

AAAA POOR DANI!!! YOU AND I ARE BOTH WAITING FOR ROMAN'S PRISON SENTENCING!!!
Punishment
Continuation from Outside- pt 1 here
TW: vague rape threat

Dani stumbled along, letting Roman drag her back inside. She didn’t dare dig in her heels nor even attempt to pull at the vice-like grip around her arm. Even when she was sure he was going to tear it off. She was in enough trouble as it was. And no attempt of stalling or resisting was going to help.
Every now and then, her body did refuse to follow. It stuttered, as if the signal to her muscles caused a lag. Remnants of the electricity setting her system to complete haywire. She tripped over her own feet, sure that without Roman pulling her along she would’ve crashed to the floor already.
Her stomach felt even heavier when he held the door to the basement open for her, face like thunder daring her to disobey. She didn’t. And he let her go down on her own, following with heavy stomps on every step.
Roman paced up and down, irritation clear in his expression and his rigid posture. Though the narrowed eyes and weird steps could also indicate some remnants of pain lingering. Only fuelling his anger, unfortunately.
His eyes flared. “Now I’m not one of those idiots who compare a kick in the jewels to actual childbirth. But by god,” he exhaled hard and looked straight into her eyes, “I’m this close to try it out and get you to report in nine months.”
She paled at that, even though she knew he wouldn’t. And he probably couldn’t either, in his current state. But she swallowed any comments on that. Better not to aggravate him any further when he’s this pissed. Also, she had plans in nine months, actually; sitting in a courtroom watching him get sentenced to hell. Couldn't miss that.
So instead, she kept her tightened fists close to her side and looked down. “I’m really sorry.”
“No, you’re not.”
No. She wasn’t. She was pretty chuffed, actually. The feeling just was kinda overshadowed by this huge looming sword dangling right above her. But she still felt a touch of pride through that fear.
“You’re not sorry. And you're never going to be sorry, not even after this. I don’t expect you to. But at the least we can make sure even the mere thought of pulling something like this again will have you break out in cold sweat.”
Or in absolute hysterics... But probably only after she’d escaped this hellhole.
A backhanded fist caught her across the face and in her still wobbly state sent her right to the floor where she remained in a slight daze.
He snagged a fistful of hair, pulling her up, then grabbed her collar and marched her backwards until she felt his knuckles tighten in the fabric. She braced herself. Just in time as he slammed her into a wall. She buckled forward in pain, tensing her abdomen for the expected blow, but he merely kept her up and forced her shoulder blades back against the wall.
He inched closer. Knuckles tight against her collar bones, body pressing forward until she tried to squirm away, back against the wall.
“You wanna try that again?” he all but growled, voice still soft. He made himself awfully vulnerable right now, knee pressing at her leg, taunting her, knowing she wouldn’t dare.
“Don’t tempt me,” she choked out, eyes blazing, but she knew that if she even raised one leg she would buckle forward against him. She needed both feet firmly planted on the ground not to collapse.
“Oh,” he almost purred and pulled her in, still a tight grip on her shirt to make sure she was flushed against him and she felt his breath brush her cheek when he said, “I’ll make sure you’re never tempted again.”
He took a fierce step back, dragged her along, and threw her away from him to the floor.
Dani rolled along with the momentum, but everything happened too fast. Two swift footsteps. A flurry of movement. An explosion of pain against her ribs. It blew her back against something that didn’t give and she slumped against the cold metal.
Slower footsteps, away from her. Returning. She shook her head hard, trying to dispel the haze. Realised that she was slumped against the metal table in the middle of the room, Roman standing over her, preparing something on it.
She heard a snap, looked up and her breath stilled as she saw him holding up a syringe, a familiar blue vial.
A whimper escaped her. She tried to scoot away from him, but Roman barely looked down and stomped down hard on her wrist, keeping her pinned. “No,” he tutted as he felt her pull under his foot, and shifted his weight on it without looking, eyes back on the syringe as he slowly drew in the blue liquid. He flicked a finger against the glass, put it down, and sank down to his knees.
The hand went right for her throat.
“No…” she started. She struggled against him, hands up, trying to push him off, flailing as he tried to catch her wrists. “No, no, no—” He slapped her hard, scooped both wrists up in one hand and pressed them up above her head, pinning them to the ground. He reached up and the blue-filled syringe glinted in the light. “No…” she mewled again as she felt the harsh prick in her neck, but it was already too late.
The pressure on her wrists let up and Roman scrambled back to his feet. He stood over her, looking her straight in the eyes as he rummaged in his pocket. And he pulled out the remote for the electric device around her ankle.
Dani paled. Braced herself. But nothing hit her yet.
“Do it then,” she croaked after a beat, but he merely stared her down, steel glint in his eyes, finger on the button. “Go on! Do it! What are you waiting for?!” And she hated how her voice cracked.
“For the serum to take effect.”
His calm voice punched the breath out of her. Agonising seconds passed, all the while they kept eye contact, both waiting.
And she felt it. It was like the bruise on her cheekbone lit up. Like a light bulb, gradually shining brighter. As if it was growing in size, blood rushing in, the pressing tight sensation pulling at her skin slowly turning to discomfort, to pain.
And only when she winced, Roman smiled. And pressed the button.
Fire shot through her. Hotter, fiercer, more paralysing than before. A garbled scream just about made it to the top of her throat before everything contracted and it died off with a squeaking choke.
She couldn’t breathe! Pain fired through her and she couldn’t let it out in a scream. She’d lost all control over her body, merely lay there on the hard floor, spasming hard, convulsing, all the wrong muscles activating and literally keeping a death grip on her body.
Until it suddenly let go of her and it was like she fell from a great height. Her back hit the floor, punched out the remnants of her scream, and she gasped hard now she could finally breathe again.
“No…” she wheezed, scrambling back from Roman as if it would help. He still had that hard glint in his eyes. “Don’t, not again, I can’t breathe, I ca— You turned up the setting didn’t you?!”
“I did not,” he merely said. Which could be a lie, for all she knew; that serum was supposed to enhance the pain, not the amount of watts taking hold of her muscles.
Another round of pain slammed into her. Burning her from the inside as it clawed for a way out. It felt wrong. Dangerous. As if the crackling electricity stabbed and burned holes into her veins as it seared through, frayed her nerves. It had to stop. Stop! Before it actually would cause damage.
“Do try to bite through it, love,” Roman teased. “If you manage to get out an apology again, maybe I’ll accept it this time.”
“I’m sorry!” Dani choked out as soon as she could. “I am! I—no, don’t, please, it won’t happen again!”
“No,” Roman said, nodding, as he pushed the button again. “It won’t.”
