Who else is positively shaking with excitement about Cinderella’s Castle right now despite not having tickets and living so incredibly far away that you couldn’t even have gone if you tried 😌
I just watched all of the Cinderella's Castle reveals (I'm a little late, I know lol) and I am literally so hyped for this show, you don't even know- XD

I’m curious how many people even know both these sources, so let’s try this.
Bias’s below cut (SPOILERS FOR BOTH):
Cinderella’s Castle: A musical by Team Starkid playing a horror-esc version of Cinderella with an almost dark metal vibe. The story focuses on Cinderella fighting against the rule of her stepmother - who is a literal troll and kills her best friends, using them for skin suits. Dark comedy, it’s great.
The Lunar Chronicals: A novel dystopian sci-fi based off the stories of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White and more. It follows a governmental feud between Earth and Luna where a dangerous plague is infected Earth, and must make an alliance with Luna to stop it. Our Cinder(ella) in this story is a cyborg who’s kidnapped for medical experimentation, then revealed to be the princess of Luna, who had been spreading the plague without even knowing it. Great book. Very gritty but romantic - I am not giving it proper mercy with this summery.

I think it’s a really interesting choice to emphasize the dire nature of her circumstances. It genuinely feels like this Cinderella is TRAPPED, which is going to make it all the more emotionally effective to see her try to break free.
The problem with a lot of modern Cinderella adaptations (cough Andrew Lloyd Webber) is that they don’t want her to be a victim. They think it’s more ‘empowering’ if she doesn’t suffer as much, when actually the reverse is true.
A character is not weak because they’re in a bad situation. A truly strong character is one who has all the odds stacked against them but still refuses to give up hope.
