So uh recently, I managed to get myself infatuated with a crackship. Who exactly is IN this crackship you ask? Yakko Warner and Max Goof. I KNOW IT'S WEIRD OKAY BUT IT'S SO CUTE?????? Of course, being the dumb little theatre kid I am, I took one look at MeanGirls, then at yax, then back to MeanGirls, then back to yax. I'm sure you know where this is going. MEANGIRLS AU!!!! So basically, Max is Aaron (Eren? Aerin? I'm how they spelled it), Yakko is Cady, Dot and Wakko are Janis and Damian, and of course, Roxanne is Regina (I haven't decided who the other plastics would be yet).
I hc zé carioca to have been in two productions of once on this island, once as papa ge, once as Daniel, and you can't do anything about bc I'm a stupid little theatre rat squeak squeak. There. I said it.

No one is talking about it but holy crap is Asteroid City good!
After watching the trailer the first time I was sold by the 1970s postcard aesthetic to the set design, and I had little idea of what the main theme or genre was.
Truman Show-esc in the script, each scene was amazingly written. I want to rewatch the movie a few more times to understand everything I didn't get the first time.
No one else was in the theatre
Which was disappointing since this movie was so good, but with Spider-man: Across the SpiderVerse playing, no one else was in the crowd.

The most underratedly beautiful thing I’ve ever seen today

This fall my schools putting on a production of a Rocky Horror Picture Show showing, like actors are gonna be in front of the movie playing and interactivity, the whole shebang. I was elated, Rocky is an absolute dream show of mine. I’m terrified leading up to auditions, but I do them, and I think I do pretty darn good I feel. I made a lot of bold distinctive choices that earned me a lot of laughs from the room. And they had claimed to do gender-blind casting.
Despite this however…for FranknFurter, they casted the AMAB feminine person, who I’m also relatively sure is friends with the director. The cast list was also emailed to us just three hours after auditions were finished when we were told it’d releasing tomorrow. And of course said person casted as Frank immediately replied with a heart emoji.
I dunno, maybe the gender thing is unfair for me to point out, I’ll admit that. For context to myself, I’m an AFAB feminine person, and also admittedly FranknFurter has been a dream role of mine for years, so definitely I’m hurting and bitter. I’m just so disappointed because my first show at this school was one of my best, and i really thought that I had escaped the crappy directing of my toxic old community theatre. And I just wanted to vent this out into the ether of the internet where people have no closeness to this.

wow you guys LOVE this post i’ve gotten like 10 notes in the past ten minutes. i’d like to add that i would make an AMAZING orpheus because my range is the same and also i play guitar. unfortunately they do not love the concept of orpheus being a transmasc teenager. so
ROA auditions are in about a month. I’m very excited and have to start preparing. I’m hoping for Dennis dupre, but I’ve been a tech for all the productions I’ve been in so far. Either way I’m trying my hardest. My lovely boyfriend is auditioning for Lonny. <3
