“Ben! Y/n! Come join us.” Evie waved over the royal siblings

“I- uh actually have some stuff I got to do. But Ben go ahead.” Y/n smiled at the Vk’s then looked to her brother nodding for him to join them.

“Wait! Y/n.” Ben looked to her worriedly

Y/n smile to reassure him. “Don’t, ok.I’ll be fine. I just need to be alone for a bit.”

“What about what we talked about?” he asked before she could leave.

Y/n pulled him over a little ways away from the Vk’s and whispered to him, “Our rooms are right next to eachother. Ben, we even have a door that just goes to the other’ room. So we’ll talk tonight.”

“Be safe.” Ben said reluctantly letting her go off alone.

“I will. You know I can take care of myself.” Y/n winked at Ben

The VK’s all watched the two siblings have their hushed conversation. After a  bit, Ben headed over to sit next to Mal at their table. They did all find it suspicious how Y/n headed off into the woods alone and that Ben kept sneaking glances back at her retreating form.

^          ^          ^

“Hey, you ready to talk?” Ben asked from the open doorway connecting their rooms together.

“Yeah” she told him turning in her desk chair

“So I was thinking maybe the VK’s could help.” he told her moving into the room, sitting on her bed facing her.

“Help with what?” Y/n asked tilting her head

“Help us figure out who your parents are.” Ben explained

Y/n nodded “that could work, they know all the Villians.”

“That and they’re concerned for you.” Ben stated

Y/n smiled letting out a breath “I’ll talk to them tomorrow. It’s Saturday so they’ll come over to my room anyway. Just like every Saturday.”

^         ^       ^

The next morning Y/n headed over to Evie and Mals dorm room. Y/n knocked on the door after hearing an ‘it’s open’ she entered. So she turned the nob and entered “Hey, girl.”

“Hey” Mal and Evie spoke at the same time

After some silence, Evie couldn’t take anymore. “Well, I’m gonna just cut to the chase. We’re worried for you.”

Y/n smiled at them mumbling an ‘I know’. “Ben’s gathering Jay and Carlos an then we’ll explain what’s been going on with me. I promise.”

“Jay” Carlos nudged his long haired friend with his elbow

“Hmmm” Jay hummed in acknowledgment but not even glancing to see what his friend wanted from him.

“Look over to your right” Carlos told him, still elbowing him.

“Why?” Jay asked in an annoyed tone due to Carlos’ bugging

“Your crush is there.” Mal smirked not looking up as well

“I don’t have a crush” Jay grumbled

Mal scoffed looking up as Jay did. “Then what do you call you infatuation with Cinderella’s daughter?”

“I tease her. Flirt with her its nothing.” Jay stated with a shrug of his shoulders

“You enjoy it” Evie pointed out

“And not for menacing reasons” Mal added

Jay sighed “Can we drop this?”

“NO” Mal, Evie, and Carlos all said at the same time loudly.

“Fine, um. Yes, ok. I like her or at least I think I do. We never got these kinds of feelings back on the Isle. But I do, I really do believe that I love her.” Jay explained how he felt, or at least how he thinks he feels.

Evie smiled “You should tell her.”

“And nows your chance.” Carlos butted in

“What?” Jay quickly turned to look around, taking a quick glance to where his friends said she was.

“She’s right over there.” Evie pointed subtly towards where the daughter of Cinderella and Prince Charming’s (Now King) daughter stood talking with her best friend The daughter of Ariel and Prince (Again Now King) Eric and her brother Chad. Well till her brother Chad stormed off with what looked like a pissed-off expression.

“Go get the girl.” Mal nodded towards the girl but kept eye contact with Jay.

Jay shook his head slightly panicked ”What? No. I’m not ready to do that.”

“Yes, you are.” Carlos encouraged

“Because we say you are” Mal added

“So you’re gonna go and tell her how you feel.” Evie smiled excitedly for her friend, Jay of all people to have someone to love as they all have.

“An see if she feels the same way.” Carlos rubbed Jay’s shoulder in support before continuing. “An if she doesn’t then at least you tired.”

“At least you’ll know to.” Mal spoke softly, not wanting to ruin any hope he might have.

“But I’m pretty sure she ikes you back.” Evie excitedly

“Really?” Jay asked with slight excitement in his eyes

“YES!” the 3 of them screamed but not loudly enough to get the two princesses’ attention.

“Now go!” Mal shooed him

“Ok, ok. Fine.” Jay relented and got up and walked over towards his crush.

“Hey, Y/n.” Jay greeted once he was close enough for her to hear without having to yell.

“Hello, Jay.” Y/n smiled at him. Upon seeing Jay’s arrival Y/n’s best friend gave a knowing smile before leaving the princess and the young ex-thief alone.

“Nervous actually.” Jay admitted

Y/n raised an eyebrow “You nervous?” What ever for?”

“Haha princess” he teased

“What’s wrong Jay? Seriously.” Y/n asked with a less playful attitude

Jay took a deep breath “I have something to ask you.”

“Oh really”

The thought of telling Y/n about his feelings is very nerve-racking. Maybe he could stall, flirting could work. “You look mighty beautiful today”

“Thank you” Y/n blushed but also felt a little confused. She thought he would’ve meant he was gonna tell her something that was worthy of his so-called nerves.

Jay smirked feeling more comfortable. Then he decided to lean in next to her ear. “Your dress is stunning- but I do think it would look better on my bedro-”

Y/n leaned back enough to look at his face, lightly slapping his chest. “You finish that and I swear Jay-”

“You’ll do what princess? I’d love to hear how you would make me stop talking.” Jay wiggled his eyebrows suggestively.

“Jay!” she squealed

“Am I making you blush princess?” Jay teased

“Yes” she nodded immediately

Jay nodded confidently “Good. That was the plan.”

“Well, if we’re done here I guess I’ll be going now.” Y/n said starting to turn away to leave.

“No” Jay rushed out, stopping her from leaving. “That’s not why I came over here.”

“Oh?” she questioned, Y/n was hoping there would be more.

“I come over here to get your opinion on something.” he stated vaguely

Y/n turned to fully face the son of Jafar singling for him to continue. “Ok. Go ahead and ask what you wanna ask Jay.”

“How.. How do you feel about me?” Jay asked with a wobbly voice.

“Like- friend wise or…” Y/n questioned, shifting on her feet.

“Or more?” he added but it still came out as a question.

“Oh…”

“If you don’t it’s fine.”

“No! Jay, it wasn’t that kind of ‘oh’” Y/n cut in quickly

“Oh?” that answer perked Jay up

“We should probably get off the ‘ohs’” the princess joked

“Yeah” he laughed

“So you’re asking me if I like like you correct?” Y/n asked for final clarity. An teasing him for his earlier flirting.

“Y-yeah” Jay stuttered

“Well, Jay of the Isle.” Y/n smiled playfully, lightening the anxious atmosphere. “Yes. I do like like you.”

Jay’s eyes widened and his jaw dropped. He couldn’t believe that she just said she liked him back to his face. “Really?”

Y/n blushed even harder than she already was, with a big smile on her face. A hint of embarrassment as well at what she was about to admit. “Jay I’ve had a crush on you for a while now.”

“Seriously?” Jay asked, again. Still in shock from her confession.

“Am I gonna have to spell it out for you?” she laughed but it was full of obvious nerves

Jay recovered from his initial shock before continuing. “NO, your not. But can I show you my response?”

“Sure.” Y/n agreed no problem. That’s when Jay started leaning in. “Wait, Jay what are you-” she started to quickly as Jay wrapped his right arm around her waist. Tugging her closer. Lifting his left arm up to cup her cheek, pulling her in and kissing her.

“That show you how I feel?” Jay asked once he broke the kiss. Resting his forehead against hers.

“Defifently.” Y/n nodded in agreement

“Good.” Jay smiled leaning back in to continue the kiss.

Changes - Gil

“Your fathers gonna kill me if he knew about this.” Gil shook his head with a little fear in his eyes. He, like many are very scared of Hades, but the fact that Gil even had the guts to date his daughter earned him respect.

“My father does not care if I dye my hair.” Y/n rolled her eye’s. Sometimes she felt like he was to scared of her father. But she understood it. Y/n knew though her father didn’t care what she did with her hair. He’d only be pissed if she cut it, and she wasn’t going to do that.

“Your father is king of the underworld if he saw-”

Y/n stepped closer to him, stopping him from talking immediately. “Gil.” She smiled at him, understanding his worries but trying to reassure him. “Relax. I’ll protect you from my father.”

Gil nodded feeling better but he looked at her worriedly in the eye’s. It wasn’t like her to just do something on a whim. “Why are you doing this?”

Y/n shrugged looking down to their intertwined hands. She felt a little ashamed at her reasons but she didn’t want to voice them. “I want a change.”

“Is this because they left and haven’t looked back?” Gil knew how close y/n was to Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay. He also knew how bad it hurt her when they had to leave, more so when they decided to stay and not even try to contact her or bring her over. Gil hated to see her hurt like she was and as much as he could distract her or take her mind off of it he knew he couldn’t fully erase the pain for her. “They were your best friends. I’m sorry.”

Y/n shook her head looking back up into his eyes squeezing his hands. It wasn’t his fault. “It’s not your fault. One day we will get off this rock.”

Gil smiled at her optimism, reaching up to run one of his hands through her hair. The gold with blue flame mimicked ends was pretty. “I do love the colors.”

Y/n smiled at him, leaning up to kiss him. “Thanks.”

Carlos was never really able to abandon Cruella. He carries her colours in his clothes, her marks. He doesn't understand why. Carlos doesn’t understand why every time Evie sews him a new jacket, he feels compelled to paint those damned Dalmatian spots against the white leather.

Nor does he understand why he must obsessively keep the same colour palette when dressing. He just knows he has to. It's familiar. Feels like home.

Carlos is still wary of dogs; Dude is the only exception.

One time, in winter, while strolling around Auradon, he saw a girl walking a beautiful golden retriever. He doesn’t know where the thought came from, but he did think, “That fur would make a very nice and warm shawl.” He immediately lowered his head and walked back to his dorm quietly.

The thoughts are always there, though. Sometimes he feels like he is in his fur closet, trapped, and hurting from a beating his mother gave him.

Sometimes he feels like he is in the streets again, jumping on rooftops and stepping on clean laundry with his muddy boots.

Sometimes he craves it. He doesn't want to go back, obviously, but he misses the routine, the familiarity of it all. He will deny it until he dies, but he misses home just like Mal does.

He still has the Isle in his mind, constantly. He thinks about the fun he used to have there. Carlos remembers stealing candies, apples, scarves... He remembers the thrill he felt. Life is not like this anymore. Life is different in Auradon.

At moments, he is disgusted. The colourful clothes, the bright blue sky... He goes out, anyway, and puts on the best smile he has.

On one particular family day, Carlos could barely believe his eyes. Across the field, the stupid Dalmatians were licking some food off a plate that was offered to them by none other than Anita Radcliffe, the mutt keeper. Carlos sank his nails into his sweaty palms. The voices were stronger than ever: "Skin it!" "Make a coat!" "Spots! Spots! Oh, such beautiful spots!"

Carlos couldn't trust himself to come near the dogs that evening.

When his eyes crossed with Anita and Roger, they were afraid. Of what? Him? He chuckled to himself; it did feel kinda nice... but Carlos does not allow himself to savour fear anymore, not like he used to.

Chad Charming made a fuss with Ben when they were training one day. One of their teammates fell and got badly hurt. Chad swears that he saw Carlos laughing under his helmet. Ben shrugged it off, saying, "Carlos is a good kid; he would never." Charming was not convinced.

What can he say? He's just an Isle kid, anyway. And he chose good! It's not like Carlos has ONE evil bone in his body... right?

First and final. (jaylos angst)

---

rating: teen and up

warning: major character death, no happy ending

summary: Jay struggling in the aftermath of Carlos's death

first and final. - Chapter 1 - viarcham - Descendants (Disney Movies) [Archive of Our Own]

---

(full work below)

It had never meant to end like this. As Jay stared down at the polished coffin, all he could think was that it wasn't meant to end like this. Not at 19, due to what the doctor had clinically lectured was ‘a sudden spike of abnormal electrical activity in the patient's brain.’ No matter how many times they would explain it to Jay, it would never make sense.

They had made it, away from the Isle: made it over countless miles, a fathomless sea and an impenetrable barrier, ran so far it no longer loomed over them like a death knell.

Jay had always thought that of the four of them, he would cross the final divide first; in his quietest moments, he had entertained childish fantasies of martyring himself in their pursuit of greatness-maybe his still warm corpse languished on the ground, the only thing that had stopped the bullet from driving into his allies’ side. Maybe Mal would declare him her greatest knight, while Evie mercifully drove the blade into his carotids, Carlos’s last desperate kiss bruising Jay’s lips, as Jay let himself sink into the welcoming grasp of oblivion.

Mal hadn't been able to stomach the funeral. Evie had scrubbed furiously at her shining eyes, then swiftly disappeared, her mascara and facade already replaced so perfectly that no outward sign of grief remained.

Jay didn't blame them.

Everyone had already left.

Despite the flood of remembrance cards that taunted Jay from his doorstop, there had been few attending the funeral. The weather had been too pleasant for the occasion, and Jay had watched as the beaming sun lowered and the mourners drifted away. Now, he was the only alive soul remaining. He hadn't been able to leave.

It was too mimetic of the way the world would keep on spinning without Carlos. The world would keep on spinning, and the boy Jay had once been intertwined with would keep on being 19, as time tore them further apart, and soon Jay would be 21, 22, 35, still reeling from the absence of his first ally, his first friend, his first love...his first and final everything, until Carlos was just a wispy shadow of a faint memory, fainter and fainter as time roared on, the ghost that jay knew would always haunt him.

Soon the boy would be nothing more than a tragic footnote in the history of Aurodan. Forgotten. Earlier that morning, Jay had opened his front door to yet another remembrance card. Gaudy saccharine kittens in bows danced along the card edge. It sickened Jay. Inside, it was stuffed with feeble, cloying blandishments that said ultimately nothing but left him even more numb.

Then it referenced ‘the three original Vks’ and Jay had promptly puked. What little breakfast he had kept down splattered all over the card and his front doorstep. Brownish orange. Dimly, as he continued to stand there, helpless, Jay had thought that Carlos would have detested its colour.

The same nausea clawed at his throat now as his eyes bored into the lacquered pine.

The funeral itself had been quiet: the shocked, detached, pall-like kind of silence that clung to its mourners. Jay hadn't been able to stop himself thinking that if Diego wasn't still trapped on the isle, maybe there would at least be a semblance of humanity. Even just a dirge. Anything to acknowledge the gaping hole left.

The coffin wood was cold and smooth and impersonal underneath Jay’s fingers. A flimsy shield.

Jay been able to shield him from gunfights, bullies- heck even Carlos’s own psycho of a mother- but had been passively unaware of that tiny, almost insubstantial electrical signal. Maybe if they had been together, Jay would have noticed something. Anything. Maybe was better than that cold certainty of a corpse.

Over a decade ago, he had pledged everything he was to give Carlos protection. Their splattered blood embodying the oath with a purposeful weight, the knife grip too oversized for younger Jay’s grasping fingers. Carlos’s small grin had electrified him. Jay then had known he would give his life to see it again. He still would now...more than anything. The corners of his mouth were involuntarily tugged up, but it didn't reach his glassy eyes.

All of Jay’s protection was rendered useless in the end.

Just another moment.

Just a bit longer.

If he stayed, he could force the world to mourn for another moment. Jay wouldn't have to face the blistering apathy of this world as his own universe laid, unresponsive and unreachable, inside the casket. Jay let his emotions fracture and engulf him in a suffocating chasm of grief.

It wasn't meant to end like this.

---

(end of work authors notes: Hi. I went to a funeral this week, and decided the best way to process that was to write a fic that hurts descendants characters (and my beta writer, sorry darling <3) I have not seen rise of red yet so may not be totally canon accurate.

Please feel free to point out any grammatical errors I missed, and constructive criticism is will always be appreciated- and even if its just a keyboard smash or emoji or kudos on ao3 :))

It only took me 5 years

But I realized that all the descendants kids names start with the same latter as their parent

Beast and Belle - Ben

Maleficent - Mal

Ursula - Uma

Hook - Harry

Evil Queen - Evie

Cruella - Carlos

Jafar - Jay

Gaston - Gill

Cinderela - Chad

Aurora - Audrey

Guys, I see the world different now

And also, Celia doesn’t match with Dr. Facilier, but that means that, maybe, his first name starts with C

Jane too doen’t make sense with Fairy Godmother, but her real name could start with J

(I'm not including Dude or any of the parents, this is just for the kids)

Heart Of A Villain: Chapter 1

Ben Ben was anxious about the bombshell he was about to drop on his parents. And really, it wasn’t just his parents, it was all of Auradon. He was restraining himself from fidgeting when his parents entered the room.

“Look at our grown up son. He’s going to be a king at 16! The only good decision I made before entering my forties was marrying your mother.” Adam addressed the last part to the boy himself.

“I hope to make you proud, and maybe my first proclamation will start the process.”

“And what exactly is your first proclamation?” His mother, Belle, sent a questioning look in his direction.

“I have decided to bring over four children from the Isle,” he said, holding up his hand to prevent interruption, “The children of Jafar, Evil Queen, Cruella De Vil and, and..Maleficent.” A simultaneous gasp fell from the lips of his parents.

“MALEFICENT? Son, she’s the worst villain in the land. I can not and I will not stand by while her child causes havoc all over our kingdom. We promised our citizens a peaceful life, a life in which they can rebuild what they have lost at the hands of the villains. Letting even their children into our kingdom will destroy everything we’ve worked for.”

“Isn’t the Isle also a part of our kingdom? The villains might have harmed us, but their children haven’t. They deserve to have a chance at living a normal life, a comfortable one, the life we have been living for so long.” The young Prince argued back, and realised, that no matter what his parents, or even the rest of Auradon said, he wouldn’t back down.

“Do you realise the extent of the impact the project would have on our kingdom? You aren’t old enough to understand the politics of running a kingdom. A king can’t do whatever he wants to, just because he wants to. A king has to do whatever the people will be pleased by, he has to cater to their needs, not his own.”

“What our kingdom, Dad, needs is to realise that they can’t just make people outcasts because of their heritage. Those kids didn’t get to choose their parents, and it isn’t their fault that they ended up with villains as family members. Why should they be made pariahs because of something they couldn’t control? It isn’t just, and aren’t we, as heroes, supposed to be the deliverers of justice? If we aren’t doing our job, we shouldn’t even be considered as heroes.”

“If you want to do this and still have their faith remain in you, you can’t leave any room for mistakes, Ben. Some of our people have really suffered at the hands of these kids’ parents, and even though they’ve started to heal, they won’t just forget and agree to start afresh with the children.”, Belle finally spoke up, pausing for a moment before continuing. “Remember, that you need to assure the safety of not just the citizens, but the children as well. Remember, that you can’t show mercy to anyone breaking the law, no matter their excuse. Remember, that you will be the King of Auradon, and that your actions and words should be befitting to one that is just and caring to all of his subjects.”

“I will, Mom. I promise that I will remember.”

Heart Of A Villain: Chapter 2

Mal

A certain purplette walked in front of her friends, and just the sight of them made people scatter in terror. Of course, that was part of the advantages that came with being the children of the four worst villains in history. Mal grabbed a lollipop from the baby of a passing mother, moments before the screams of terrified people filled the air. Only one person could make villains more terrified than the purplette and her friends. Her mother, Maleficent. As terrified as they might be around the quartet, or Jafar, Evil Queen and Cruella, it was nothing compared to their terror at seeing Maleficent.

“Hi, Mom.” The young girl turned around stepping in front of her friends, ready to protect them from anything her mother might do.

“I’m so disappointed in you, Mal. Stealing candy from a baby is just being spiteful, not evil. You should know by now that there’s a difference between the two.”

“I know, Mother, and I will try to do better.”

“When I was your age, young lady, I was cursing entire kingdoms. A very fond memory of mine. And it’s about time you make your own memories too.”

“My own memories? Mother, what exactly are you trying to insinuate?” Confusion filled her voice, a confusion she knew was mirrored on the faces of her friends.

“Nothing, dearie. But there’s news. All four of you have been chosen to go to a different school...in Auradon.”

“The joke isn't funny, Mother.”

“Dearie, it isn’t a joke, it’s news.”

“No, no way are any of us going to Auradon. It’s filled to the brim with brainless prissy pink princesses and princes with hero complexes.” Mal protested angrily.

“But Mal, the princes are so handsome.”, her bluenette friend interrupted. The bluenette happened to be Genevieve Evelyn Grimhilde, daughter of the Evil Queen. An expert poisoner and seducer, but the girl had her lame moments.

“They aren’t, and the Auradonians are goody two shoes. I’m definitely not going.” Jay added. He was the chocolate haired and chocolate-eyed boy, the heir of Jafar.

“And they have dogs.” Her friend who had black roots in contrast to his white hair finished, wrinkling his nose in distaste to hide his fear. Carlos was the son of Cruella De Vil, intimidating despite his size.

“Dearies, look at the bigger picture. World domination. Revenge. Suffering.”

“We’re still not going, Mother.”

“Come along, children, back to Bargain Castle. The plan will be explained to you there.” Maleficent snapped her fingers before walking off. The quartet barely glanced at each other before leaving, each worried about what their parents had in mind.

“You will go, you will find Fairy Godmother’s wand and bring it back to us.” Mal’s mother dictated.

“Why should we? There’s nothing in it for us.” The sixteen year old commented, her face schooled to indifference. But inside, her heart beat faster due to the mingling fear and excitement she felt. She didn’t want to go to Auradon, but the opportunities it would present were not ones that she wanted to pass up.

“Don’t you want to rule the world? Don’t you want to have your revenge on the people who took everything from us, the people who imprisoned us? Don’t you want to watch innocent people suffer?”

“We do, but we aren’t going to-”

“Going to Auradon will give you all of it. If you really want it, you will go and bring me the wand. And once I have it, I’ll be able to bend both good and evil to my will with the combined power of my sceptre and the wand.”

“Don’t you mean our will?” Evil Queen interrupted. The woman, she was still a beauty, not a soft one, but one of fallen regality. Age had barely left its mark on any of them, they were immortal in a cruel but regal way. Mal remembered something that her father had told her when she was younger. He had said, “People die with their stories. They will be immortal as long as their story lives on in others.” Maybe it was true.

“Yes, yes, our will.” Her mother’s voice brought her back to reality.

After an exchange of silent glances between the quartet, Mal voiced their joint decision. “Fine, we’ll go.”

With a cynical smile, Maleficent handed her a book. But it wasn’t just any book, it was the faerie’s legendary spellbook. And Mal wasn’t the only one receiving a family heirloom. Evil Queen had handed Evie the only remaining part of her magic mirror, inducing a gasp from the bluenette. The heirloom Jafar presented to Jay was his onyx ring, which would transform into his infamous snake staff when willed to. And as for Carlos, the boy surprisingly received a set of keys. The keys of Cruella’s car, she realised. Her brain had already gone into overdrive, factoring their heirlooms into her scheme.

“Evie, my little evilette, find yourself a prince with a big castle and a mother-in-law wing.”

“I will, Mom.” Her daughter smiled.

“And who’s the fairest of them all?”

“Me. Kidding, it’s you.” The mother-daughter duo laughed in synchrony.

“What’s our mantra?”, Jafar asked his son.

“There’s no team in ‘I’”. Jay recited before grabbing his bag and leaving.

Mal grabbed her already packed bag from her room upstairs. She would miss this place, even though she hated it. Standing on her balcony overlooking her city, she felt a hand on her shoulder. Maleficent breathed down her neck, sending chills down the purplette’s spine.

“The future of the free world rests on your shoulders. Don’t blow it.”

Heart Of A Villain: Chapter 3

Evie

Mal entered the limousine looking rattled, shortly after the bluenette had. She looked around at the rest of the quartet. Jay was toying with his new onyx ring. The purplette was flipping through her spellbook and Carlos was still looking at the car keys with a wondrous look on his face. Evie quietly sighed before taking her mirror out to examine it. Never had she imagined that she would be receiving even a part of her mother’s legendary mirror, and to actually be holding it in her hand made her feel like she was dreaming. Putting it away, she reassessed her situation. And that was when something struck her. Her friends, no matter how close they were or how long she had known them, could potentially harm her or even kill her. They had what they needed, and their loyalties could change in a blink. She had seen them kill before, she herself had killed before. But this was the first time she had ever seen them as her potential killers, the first time they might not have a common goal. In her mind, another voice rang out, over the cynical one. It reassured her of one thing, the strength of their friendship. On the Isle, they had been each other’s family, not by blood, but by choice. The bond they shared was like no other. Nothing would break it. They would have their fights, the small ones and the serious ones, but their bond would remain unbroken. She knew it, and would do well to remember it.

“Hey,” Evie looked up to see Jay’s face filled with concern, “It’s okay. We are going to be okay.” The brunet put his hand over hers, trying to calm their trembling.

“I know. But I just, I just can’t help but worry about it. This could be a trap or an ambush, or they could be waiting to put us behind bars as soon as we reach.” She murmured, eyeing the partition that separated them from the Auradonian chauffeur.

“They won’t. Why would they take all this trouble and risk one of their own to bring us over to Auradon from a perfectly secure prison, if they were just going to imprison us again?”

“I don’t know, maybe they are afraid that we are too powerful?” Mal looked up at them. Silence enveloped them, seconds before Carlos screamed.

“It’s an ambush!” They grabbed on to each other, Jay holding on to Evie’s hand and Carlos’s jacket firmly, while Evie pulled Mal so close that they were like one in that moment. The car was headed straight for the ocean, nothing to save them from certain death by drowning. Closing her eyes, Evie prayed for the first time. Please, she prayed, please let some miracle happen and save us. I am too young to die, Evie cried in her mind. She braced herself to hear a splash, the harbinger of her doom, but never did. Slowly, the bluenette opened her eyes. A bridge had joined the Isle to Auradon, a contraption of magic. Relief filled her, they hadn’t died. Even if the Auradonians tried to imprison them once they reached, they would still be alive. And Mal didn’t seem to believe that it had just happened without prompting. The stubborn purplette insisted that there was something that controlled the bridge and the barrier in the limousine itself, and Evie knew that she wouldn’t stop until its secrets were unravelled.

If Evie was being honest, she hadn’t known what to expect as their welcome to Auradon. Maybe Prince Ben and his parents, Fairy Godmother at the most. Certainly not this ridiculous group of people. A marching band of all things. And so many students of the ridiculous school they were expected to attend. Satan, couldn’t they have just kept the people and celebrations to a bare minimum. But, on the plus side, Adam and Belle weren’t there. Evie wasn’t ready to face the people who had imprisoned her friends, her mother and her. Inside the limousine, Mal sighed, and looked at them. With little hesitation, the purplette opened the door and left, the bluenette following her. The boys took a little more time to appear. Once they did, the four of them strutted towards the Prince and the girl who appeared to be, well, his girlfriend. Brown hair, brown eyes, light brown skin. She was pretty, the girl had to admit, but there was a sort of fakeness to her. There was a cruelness to her that Evie couldn’t decipher. Jay seemed to be sizing her up, she was an obvious target. And so was Prince Ben.

“Welcome to Auradon! I am Fairy Godmother, headmistress of the school.” A cheerful and plump woman in blue made her way towards them. The famous Fairy Godmother, the one whose wand they were supposed to steal. Their only reply to her was a faked polite smile and a nod, after which she left, murmuring about some Council meeting.

“I am Ben, and this is my girlfriend Audrey.” Prince Ben must have introduced himself out of politeness, because it was obvious that he was royalty.

“Prince Ben, and Princess Audrey.” His girlfriend interrupted. What a spoiled brat.

“You aren’t the only royalty here. I’m Evie, daughter of the Evil Queen.”

“The Evil Queen has no royal status here, and neither do you.” Cold as ice, the brunette’s words slipped from her lips.

“At least she earned her title, unlike you. She earned her right to be called royalty. Don’t ever think that just because of her lineage, the Isle considered her to be a princess.” Jay retorted, glaring at Audrey.

“Oh, really? What do you even have to do to be considered royalty on that miserable island?”

“Prove your worth. Steal, bargain, fight, torture, kill. You are royalty because of your lineage, not because you earned it. She proved her worth, and she deserves her title.”, Carlos replied, lifting his eyes from the ground to meet the brunette’s.

“This isn’t the Isle, and as such, she isn’t royalty, and never will be. Things work differently here. You would do well to learn that.”

“We are all friends here, remember? All of us will treat each other with courtesy no matter their personal opinions.” Prince Ben interrupted, meeting each pair of eyes.

“Princess Audrey, aren’t you the daughter of Sleeping Beauty and Prince Phillip? I am sure that the exquisite gown you’re wearing was a present from them, as a replacement for the time they do not spend with you.” Mal taunted the child of her mother’s archnemeses, the first words she had said after leaving the limousine.

“You must be Mal, the daughter of Maleficent. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” The prince said, just in time to prevent an argument from breaking out. “It’s a pleasure to meet the rest of you as well, Evie, Jay and Carlos.”

“A pleasure to meet you too, Prince Ben.” Jay smiled tightly, toying with his onyx ring once more.

“You must be tired after your journey. Perhaps resting in your dorms will help? Unless, of course, you’d prefer to be introduced to the campus.”

“If it wouldn’t be too much of a problem, we’d prefer to see the campus. It would be nice to get acquainted with the place before our classes tomorrow.” A polite smile plastered itself onto the bluenette’s face.

“I would show you around myself, but I have a Council meeting in a few minutes. I’ll be leaving you in the capable hands of Doug, son of Dopey.” After an exchange of polite nods and smiles, both Ben and Audrey walked away, only to be replaced by a boy with mousy hair.

“Hey guys, I’m Doug, the son of-”

“Dopey, yes we know. Ben introduced you to us. You’re supposed to help us with our schedules and give us a tour of the campus.”

“Yes, right.” He led the way around the campus, as the four of them walked behind him, still clutching their bags.

A very boring half an hour later, Mal and Evie entered their dorm. It was unbelievably horrid. Pink, pink, and pink everywhere. The curtains were pink, the sheets were pink, the walls were pink. Both of them simultaneously shut the curtains, blocking the entry of sunlight into the room. That would cool the room down, and stop hurting their eyes.

“So, what’s our plan? We can’t just barge into wherever the wand’s kept and try to steal it. They’ll obviously have alarms and guards.” Evie looked over to her best friend who had just sat down on one of the beds.

“Fairy Godmother must have a child. We can interrogate them, as well as any person who could possibly know anything about it.”

“Really? They’ll just rat us out at the first possible chance.” The bluenette had a look of disbelief on her face.

“Who said that they’ll remember?” Mal responded, with a vicious smile which Evie returned.

Hey, could you make a Carlos DeVil x Male Reader (platonic)? The reader is Ben's father and Beast's husband (I'm going to completely ignore that Belle exists) and he kind of adopts Carlos, being a father figure and family that Carlos never had.

OMG YOU GUYS I feel so popular 😍 I love that I have the descendents fandom here rn, but this request, anon I don't even know who belle is, last I checked Ben has two amazing dads who take in Carlos and the story goes smth like this..

-FATHER FIGURE(S)-

Carlos DeVil x Bens Dad!Reader

Warnings: Nonee pure fluff (lmk if I'm wrong tho)

When Ben went to his fathers about letting VK'S into the isle, he never imagined that one of his dads would embrace it so much.

Y/N was the more calm and understanding one of the couple, so while Adam was worried and skeptical about letting them in. Y/N encouraged it, even convincing his husband to go with it.

While the beginning was rough, things slowly started to fall into place, and as Ben and Mals relationship bloomed, his dad Y/N was making one for himself.

When they first met properly it was an accident, Y/N was walking down the long halls of the palace to the library when a small talking dog suddenly ran into his legs.

"I am NOT taking a bath, I hate water, go back to being scared of me and leave me alone." The dog spoke, and Y/N chuckled. Picking up the same animal.

"Your not very good at running away if your just going to run into another person." He said, and the dog groaned at being captured. And after a spilt second, A head of white and black hair comes sprinting around the corner. Only to stop abruptly at the sight of one of the kings holding his pet.

Carlos bows his head, not really knowing what to do. "I-Im sorry your highness! I didn't mean to let him run loose in the castle, he slipped from my hands and-" Carlos was cut off by a laugh.

"You can look up, I'm not mad at all. I needed some entertainment to my boring day." Y/N smiles at the boy. "If I'm not mistaken, you are Carlos correct?"

His eyes widen at that, not expecting the king to address him so nicely. "Yeah, I am." Y/N smiles at that. "Well its nice to meet you, and your dog is..?"

Before Carlos can even answer the dog spoke for himself, "Its dude, and I am NOT taking a bath." Y/N laughs harder. "I'm afraid your wash is inevitable, but perhaps if Carlos is willing, it could be stalled?" He looks up at the teen.

"What do you mean?" Carlos asks.

"I was about to head down to the library, its my favourite place to relax. But it gets lonely as well. Would you care to join me?" Not expecting that answer, Carlos's eyes widened. He thought for a moment before nodding. "Yeah, it could be fun."

So the two walked to the library together, along with dude. Chatting about anything and everything.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That was how it started, and they got closer. The attention of the adult that Carlos got was unlike anything he received. If wasn't the tight lipped smiles like the staff, or the manipulative love like his mother.

No.

Y/N cared. He had genuine interest in Carlos as a whole. He helped with school, teen drama, sports, advice, when he just needed to rant. Carlos could almost say he was like a dad to him.

But as their Visits became more frequent. His friends started to get curious. He doesn't know why but he didn't want to tell them of his relationship with one of the kings.

So any time they would ask, he would blush and mumble some random excuse. Making sure to bring dude with him and bolting out of the dorms.

But they were all to curious now, and one day was the final straw.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today sucked to put it lightly. Carlos spent all week studying for this test, and despite Y/N's advice he stayed up all night too, getting no sleep. And it was all just to fail.

And then during lunch he slipped and spilled mash potatoes and gravy all over himself.

But to top it all off, Chad was unrelenting in targeting him during practice. And it was to much.

On the brink of tears, Carlos storms into the dorm room to change.

The rest of the group was relaxing in the room waiting, looking at Jay to try and find answers to which he just shrugged.

When the over stimulated boy came back out of the bathroom the group immediately began to express their worries.

"What's wrong?" Evie asked.

"Did something happen?" Mal added.

"If you need to talk we are here you know?" Jay said, and the whole group nodded. But without a word Carlos ran out. And dude, knowing where he was going. Jumped out of bed to follow.

All of them being extremely worried for their friend. They followed as well.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Y/N was going through some documents when his office doors were burst open. He opens his mouth to chastise the person when he looks up and sees the very distraught boy there. Panting with water eyes.

His eyebrows furrow with concern and he stands, immediately going to him. "Carlos? What's the matter?" Y/N asks, but instead of getting an answer, the teen hugs him tightly, and he cries.

The kings heart clenched at this. He embraces Carlos tightly while gently rubbing his back. "Shhh its alright, just breath."

Soon enough dude comes running in, immediately sitting at their feet, wanting to help comfort the boy as well.

What Y/N wasn't expecting was seeing his friends and even his son staring with wide eyes. But he shoots them a gently smile. One that promises an explanation later.

He makes eye contact with Ben, and as if they had a silent conversation. His son nods and softly closes the door to his office.

Turning his attention back to Carlos, he notices that the boy has calmed down. Unwrapping his arms to wipe his eyes.

"What's going on Carlos?" Y/N asks in a soft voice.

The teens sniffs, shaking his head and taking a deep breath. "Today really sucked and I-... I don't know if I'm cut out for this." He responds quietly.

Y/N smiled sadly. "Well, can I tell you a story?"

Confused, Carlos just nods. And the king took a deep breath before starting.

"You see, A long time ago, there was this boy. He grew up in a small town that had a very fixed mindset. But you see this boy didn't like to be stuck in that mindset. All the people viewed him as weird. His likes and dislikes were so uncommon that many would talk about him behind his back, or so they thought but he heard everything."

Closing his eyes he pauses, before continuing.

"It was like that for most of his life, until he finally found someone else who wasn't like the others, and while it took a lot of warming up. They eventually fell for each other. This other man cared about his interests and didn't reject them. He helped the boy grow and see more of what he liked. And the boy helped the other to become a better person. And just like any cheesy love story, they fell in love."

Y/N chuckles, but Carlos looks intrigued. "..but how is that supposed to help me?"

The adult looks eyes with him, voice as soft as it is serious. "Carlos, as long as you have people who love you for who you are, you can do anything you want. And I know for a fact you have a group right outside those doors that do."

The teen glances back at the doors, nodding softly. But he hesitates, looking back up at Y/N before sheepishly asking a question.

"what...what about you?"

The kings heart ached at the vulnerability in his voice, and he smiled comfortingly. "Oh I thought it was quite obvious that I care about you."

He watches at Carlos's shoulders visibly relax, before he springs forward into a hug. Y/N laughs as he returns it.

"All always be here for you, your an amazing kid, and I know you'll do good in Auradon."

Carlos felt his heart swell. And he just hugs the man tighter, showing rather than saying how much this meant to him.

How nice it felt to have someone comfort him, not have a caring father figure.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
