I only recently got into the show and I haven’t watched all of it consistently besides for the most part of season 2 and someone on YouTube who reviews the episodes. Right now I really like the show and I am hoping for a 3rd season.

I mostly agree with you, but one of the points I don’t feel as strongly about as you do is the last sentence. I felt the show would have been so much better if it wasn’t rushed, because as good as I feel it is now, if it wasn’t as rushed as it felt it was and if some concepts had been better thought out/executed, it would have been more well done.

Yashahime isn’t as bad as I believe you may feel about it, or as some other people feel. In fact in my opinion it’s one of the better shows out there.

You can see how with what they put into the show that they have everything the need to better execute a really good show. Great characters, their dynamics and relationships with others, an interesting premise and story, etc.

But yes like I said I do agree with you on the majority of questions you have.

I know there is one more episode, so maybe all will be explained in 20-23 minutes, but we still have to make time for Moe and Mei to be adorable and for Takechiyo and Shippo to have some wacky hijinks...so you know, my hopes are not high...

BUT...

What in actual hell is the grim comet? An egg for a space butterfly...that has a library inside?

Why did Osamu Kirin go all Eyes of TJ Eckleburg at the end? Were the glasses magic? Did the butterfly give him magic glasses? Did the magic glasses make him evil? If Towa had just gone into the locker room after classes, gone into his locker and smashed his glasses Beastie Boys style, would this have all been avoided?

Why did Kirinmaru and Rion make a sword when they died? Why did that sword have a Star Trek transporter that brings people back to life? Tenseiga ain't so special now, I guess?

Speaking of which, Setsuna's special power isn't so special if everyone can do it, I guess?

What connection does Treekyo have with the butterfly? Were Setsuna and Rin somehow under the butterfly's control? Does that mean anything?

Is a butterfly ever a proper villain (the answer is no...no need to wait for the final episode for that).

I had a thought when I still had hope that this mess might have had an actual logical plot that maybe the reason Rin could not touch her daughters is that there was a kind of spell...the mother's touch would dispel the illusion which was put in place to train the girls...or something. But no, it was just because there was a big bad butterfly and Rin (impulsive, loving Rin) just did not touch her daughters...because...

I wasn't expecting much, but this turned out so much worse than I could have imagined.

I just watched episode 48 and it's made me rethink some of my criticism of the show. I still would have liked to see Rin and Sesshomaru's love story. But I at least got to see some meaningful interactions between Rin and her daughters. And I love the fact that she made the kimono's herself.

Now I’ll admit I’m biased bc I’ve been writing and RPing Towa Higurashi for well over a year now and that’s just how I interpreted her feelings but

I’m really glad that while Yashahime makes it clear that despite the fact he’s emotionally constipated and extremely stoic and doesn't’ really make facial expressions beyond amused or annoyed that he does genuinely love his daughters and wife to death, but also that Towa has well deserved resentment for how he went about things.

I get why he did the things he did. I know he gets a lot of flak for it but I get it from a fictional character perspective, and how different he is from both Inuyasha and Souta in personality. But just because he felt he acted in Towa’s and Setsuna’s best interest does not necessarily mean that was the right way to do things- and I am not here to debate if it was “right” or “wrong,” but the fact is Towa and Setsuna went through a lot without their father being there.

I’m not here to start debating if he was right or wrong even though I have my own personal feelings- but even the great Lord Sesshomaru is not infallible, and while I wish they had talked about this a bit more throughout the show, even though both Towa and Setsuna seem to love and care for their father now at the end of everything that doesn’t change they have a right to question how their father went about things and whether or not it was for the better or not. One of the wishes I would have for any kind of continuation would be to address this even more, I would genuinely love it if Towa and Setsuna could have a sincere talk with their father about what they felt were misgivings in how he went about their upbringing.

I love the man but- they’re teenage girls who went through so much shit with really very few allies beyond their cousin who could consistently help them. They have a right to be bitter about it! Just because they love their father doesn’t mean they have to believe h did everything right, and in turn Sesshomaru isn’t off the hook inherently just because he goes about things a specific way to ensure they’d be strong and independent. I would not be surprised if Toga and Inukimi raised him that way, but that doesn’t mean that is what was right for his own kids.

It was just a really interesting thing I didn’t expect to get brought up in the finale! It made me as a Towa writer really happy. I really hope if there’s a continuation in any capacity they can finally fucking talk about these things. Towa and Setsuna deserve to be able to speak to their father about their frustrations with him, and as their father who loves them he should listen to those frustrations and address them.

*Sesshomaru and Setsuna genuinely love the new baby with all their hearts like for the rest of the kids in the Sessrin family but they are too stoic to fully express the extent of their emotions, sesshomaru much more than setsuna*

*setsuna is much more expressive with her happiness than sesshomaru is*

*everyone can tell how happy everyone sesshomaru and everyone else is now that there is a new baby in the family and no immediate threat at his life*

Consider:

-Sesshomaru and Setsuna are waging a war for Rin’s attention/affection

-Rin has another baby 

-Baby starts occupying all of Rin’s attention

-Sesshomaru and Setsuna call a temporary truce because the baby is now their mutual enemy

I have another point about why SESSRIN is not ok...

Honestly one of the the most confusing parts of the sessrin ship is they act like they love Rin and want the best for her even though its totally twisted, but let's pretend it's not disgusting....

Why on earth would you wish for a young woman to immediately be pregnant with demon twins, that are taken from her and then she is most likely neglected for year's before some effed up thing happens to her where she ends up trapped in a tree? Then if she is woken up, she missed her kids childhood, they don't know her and most likely wont want to and sesshomaru can give a flying fuck... Now she gets to look like she's the same age as her children, get ignored by sesshomaru even if she follows him around, feel awkward around her kids and everyone because the whole relationship is just gross. Her friends won't be supportive because sesshomaru has been an ass that ditched their babies in the woods and didn't bother to wake her for over a decade! Oh and they have no home because he threw that away and he chills with demons that are literally what nightmares are made from.

I would not wish that shit on someone I hated, let alone claimed to adore.

Rin was a sweet little girl that suffered many heartbreaking events in life, but still managed to smile. I think she deserved better than screwing her guardian and getting knocked up, and then not even getting to know her kids...
