Guys I'm officially a woman in STEM

Days of productivity 1/100
• Survived lectures this morning and proceeded to finish an introductory book about the Etruscan language… read some Weil and proceeded to celebrate the fact that the coffee machine from my residence is working again…
- Finished Waves revision + exercises
- Finished Algebra assignment
- Finished Astrophysics assignment
- Read programming and data science handout + exercises
- Read Italian lecture notes for this week

Day 5/100 of productivity
Chinese study
Modern Cosmology Chapter reading
Italian writing and reading assignments ✓
Astro Galaxy notes ✓
Revise Astro/Waves/Algebra assignments ✓
Start new assignments ✓
Eigenvalues/Eigenvectors exercises ✓
Finish ‘Star’ by Yukio Mishima
{Note of the day: my brain is a scorching torch illuminating the path leading towards my academic doom. I have survived more labs than I initially expected, I am more of a theoretical sort of individual not a practical one, somebody please get me out of labs. On a more pleasant note my Italian Professor complimented my attire and told me I looked really elegant. I giggled like a literal schoolgirl consumed with thirst for the approval of older and wiser women.}

Day 6/100 of productivity
Finish Astrophysics assignment
Start waves assignment
Finish Excel course
Revise Italian assignments
Read ‘The cult of the Virgin Mary’
Read ‘Colloquial French Course’
Cosmology lectures (1)
Read Algebra notes
{Notes of the day: I must begin applying to internships and yet I cannot find any sort of academic fervor within me to write all of the required numerically limited texts demonstrative of my ardent devotion to being an underpaid intern. The rain is getting heavier and the notion of wasting my (vanishing) money on steamed red bean buns becomes more attractive with every passing day.}

Some pictures I took of the moon during a stargazing trip!
I cannot remember the last time I was in such a harmonious place, with nearly no light pollution hiding the stars away from my eyes.
Looking up at the night sky you can’t help yourself but find some morsels of reason within the deification of the heavens by the ancients, their cheer presence - too otherworldly to give you the impression of being from this realm.
(Aristotle moment)

Monday, 25th of December
Tasks accomplished today:
Study Chinese grammar unit HSK2✓
Listen to French podcast ✓
Re-do Astro assignment 1 ✓
Study integration/differentiation ✓
Finish Tutorial sheets 4 ✓
Revise all Astro notes ✓
Revise Real Analysis flash cards ✓
{Notes of the day: with the passing years I’ve seen various holidays become ever more meaningless, the last time I celebrated Christmas was various years ago and yet the yearn I would expect to feel by now for its return has yet to arrive, but not all is full of gloom, I went out for coffee with an old friend, a warm latte and a genuine friendship is, after all, everything that one needs to survive 8 consecutive hours of studying }
‘Well I’m not a poet, I’m just a woman’ but instead is me going ‘Well I’m not a mathematician, I’m just a physicist’ to all the math majors watching me decay as I am forced to take pure mathematics modules to pass this godforsaken degree…
Happy geologist day🤠

to be a swiftie stem student making websites is-

the STEM part of my uni major is hitting a little too hard these days >:(

sometimes i wish i were a film major or smth so i could just watch movies for hw or sm shit
but then i remember i don't even like movies nearly enough to tolerate them as smth obligatory and i'm also in fact doing my most favorite thing in the world rn
it's good to remember once in a while that i chose this shit with my heart and soul

word of advice: retaking exams sucks so consider not failing :)
currently trying to do a semester-long project in one night
if i finish it im gonna go to church
if it gets accepted im opening my own
the computer science aesthetic, the biggest inspiration here being Ada Lovelace and Hedy Lamarr 🤍

Study Tips for Students like Me & You

Organize your time if it's not a distraction. Planners are meant to help you and get work done, not procrastinate by planning.
Get all the jitters out before studying, addressing all of your concerns so you enter with a clear, determined mind.
Eliminate distractions when possible, or filter out the distractions with music!
Create mini-goals to make the daunting tasks more simple and less scary to complete.
Step away if you get too frustrated with a concept or don't understand it. Come back to it when you have energy and tolerance.

Know how to balance your hobbies with your responsibilities, allowing you to avoid burnout for much longer.
If studying a weak point, remind yourself it's okay, and no matter the outcome, you're going to go down with the ship trying and fighting.
Be realistic and optimistic. Don't procrastinate too much when you think you have more time than necessary.
If you are doing last-minute studying, acknowledge the possibility that you might not do as well, but don't lose hope as any amount of studying always counts!
Create one big goal to help motivate you for your little goals. My grand goal is to one day earn a PhD.
